We selected Corning Shingles and Universal Builders to replace our roof. We were told that they used their own employees which was important to us for insurance and licensing purposes. We signed the contract in September and the roof was installed in December. The installers were subcontractors and no one in the crew spoke English, which made it difficult to get our questions answered. Installation took 2 days and at the end of each day I had to "jump start" their vehicle in order for them to leave. The shingles look good for the most part but are not laying flat in a couple of areas which I am told will "fix itself" when the weather gets warmer. The Universal employees we have had contact have been polite and have answered our questions when asked but it remains to be seen if they will follow through on the promises made.

We had hail damage and there were many roofing/building companies working in our neighborhood. We took our time and did some investigation and home neighbors who used different builders. We decided to go with universal builders because of the positive interaction that I had with the sales team as well as everyone associated with Universal builders. The work was done on time and at a high-quality. After the job was done we even had a gentleman come by to do a quality control check and make sure that we were satisfied with everything that shows their commitment to customer excellence. We were very happy with universal builders and would highly recommend them

I called the company with some vinyl siding that had come loose on my house and with in 45 minutes he came out to my house looked at the problem and fixed the small part that just had come loose. The shingles on the market have so many similarities, but Owens Corning stands out. Once finding the desired product, the search began to find a reputable company to install. Universal Builders far exceeded this requirement as a Platinum Preferred installer. We have a very difficult roof, yet they finished in three days before the rains came in. No complaints, great job!

Universal replaced our hail-damaged roof recently and did a fairly decent job. Salesman made it more difficult than it needed to be, and Universal was not quick to take responsibility for a leak which appeared days after the roof went on, but ultimately did so, and we have not had a problem since.

We are first time home owners, so after a huge hail storm in the area we didn’t even think to have our roof checked out. Universal Builders did a free inspection and gave us a full report to show our insurance company. We put off the work for a few months because of weather but their contractors were able to finish the work in a single day! Emmanuel Jones has been really great at explaining everything about the process, and the company itself was super patient when our insurname company was slow to provide paperwork. I would absolutely recommend this company and have to my neighbors!

Josh Uadiski with Universal Builders came out to my residents in Grove City after a bad storm we had. He asked if I would like my roof and siding inspected for any damage. He told me he would work with my insurance company and I wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. Well Josh found damage and helped me follow all the steps to file my claim. Shortly after they had a crew out there and replaced my whole roof, siding and even gutters for the price of my deductible. Working with my insurance company wasn’t the easiest, however Josh told me not to worry about it and made multiple phone calls to them to get this job done. Overall, I am very very pleased with the work these guys do. I can’t thank Josh enough for making the process such a breeze. Will definitely recommend to everyone.

My insurance company was difficult to work with but Chris Darity remained patient and professional until he was able to finish the repairs. Major hail damage to my roof, siding, and gutters. The storm damaged most of the homes in the neighborhood so there were several roofing companies working in the area simultaneously. Universal came very highly recommended and proved to be one of the best restoration companies working in the neighborhood. They did good work and completed it quickly once it was scheduled. Would have appreciated a single point of contact throughout the entire project, although that did not effect the final product. Worked well with my insurance and all work was completed within the bounds of my coverage. I would recommend them to neighbors and friends.

It was great dealing with Universal Builders. Their team was fast and efficient, and cleaned up the yard around the house —which gets pretty messy on a roofing job— when they were done. They also did the work just as winter was beginning— even though it was cold and on some days there even was snow on the roof that they had to knock off— they still got it done. I would use them again and recommend them to family, friends or others.

Universal Builders(UB) served as my advocate and liaison with my Insurance company to take care of my claim for hail storm damage to my roof, siding, gutters, and other personal property. From the vary start UB proved to be an asset in getting my claim properly valued and making the Insurance company pay for all the damages. The work is completed now and it looks beautiful. Throughout the repair process any time I had concerns or questions I simply called UB and received quick attention. All the staff I dealt with from UB from my original sales representative to the project manager and office staff went out of their way to make sure my claim was processed handled right. I would recommend UB to anyone needing their type of services. My Insurance company is still holding back a portion of the money they owe me and UB is dealing directly with them to assure I receive full payment for what the Insurance company agreed to.

Horrible experience. 1) Unsafe conditions with the crew working on top of a very high roof after dark. No return call from the superintendent after i complained about it. 2) They shaft you on the cost of the job. They take the entire amount your insurance company pays you even if their estimate and the job cost less - most roof companies don't do that (review the contract carefully) 3) Poor quality work (i called back several times to have them remove plastic still left on the roof. They bumped a pipe on my attic heater and it came off and we had dangerous fumes coming into the attic. They also had wood chips strewn all over the attic (i'm still finding them almost a year later). 4) They moved and dented my brand new gas grill. Careless! 5) I think some of their crew were on drugs while working - probably pot. So as you can tell, this wasn't one thing, it was many things - obviously a very poorly run company that shouldn't get much repeat business.

Initial contact representative (Emanual) LIED from the start! In writing stated UB only used employees for roofing jobs - FALSE, subs are used! Owens Corning products are not worth a dime, unless home owner provides supervision and oversight of the installation process.....ever hear of not using "step flashing"?

Universal Builders as a company was great but the subcontractors they used on our job were horrible. They did roofing & Siding ! The siding was half done when we discovered the Tyvek Homewrap they were supposed to put up firsts was rolled out beside the house and being used to dump trash on. They had to remove it all and wrap the house and start all over. Then the 2 ridge vents on the main house were put on backwards and the ends left open. The guy from Universal removed that and fixed it . The garage roof was pretty much finished when I was able to capture images from our security cameras of them putting flashing material over rotten wood and covering it up with the underlay. Needless to say they had to removed the entire new roof and replace 8 sheet of 4x8 plywood. This after Universal sent a guy out to inspect my complaint . Then they had to come back and finish caulking around the windows and window seals, the seals were left totally uncaulked where water would have gotten under the new wraps causing wood rot ! I have plenty of pictures to proves all I have stated. What upsets me the most is what these subs are doing to our elderly population. I asked Universal to provide me the names of all subs used to I could write local reviews on them but Universal would not provide me that information. The one contractor point blank told us to our face when we confronted them about the Tyvek " We never use that " Makes one wonder what type work they've done to other home owners !!!

Universal Builders are always responsive to my needs and treat me like a friend when they show up. They get the work done when they say, it never takes long and they don't leave me a big mess to clean up either. In addition to the damaged plywood causing the leak, they also found and addressed a few other minor issues and even showed me pictures of the damage. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Please learn from my mistakes and carefully read over the fine print on the contract. They will come up with "Supplemental" materials/labor costs that almost doubled the cost. I ended up having to pay almost 5k out of pocket because of this. Please please please do not trust the sales guy or this company. Update: Changed my rating. Jacob Noland returned my call and personally went over the details and realized an error in their billing. I appreciate his quick response and efforts to fix this situation.

The crew of Universal workers were extraordinary. They stripped my three roofs, put down new underlayment and beautiful new shingles, wider gutters and downspouts. Hail damaged copper roofing was replaced and better than brand new. Work proceeded in spite of wind and cooler than comfortable weather. These guys were great and cleaned up every day before leaving the job. I am thoroughly satisfied with the fine workmanship and quality of products that were used. Definitely a 5 star job!
