After an inspection from my insurance company, I had to make repairs on my chimney. I called several contractors and A-1 gave me the best quote by far. After reading a few reviews I was hesitant because there was a mix of positive and negative reviews. Most of the negative reviews seemed to be about scheduling conflicts, not their workmanship or business practices. Mike had his men come within a few days. His workers were friendly, hard-working and very capable. I am satisfied with their work and so is the insurance company. They completed the job for the price I was quoted. I plan to use them in the future. Thanks Mike.

It's not every company that responds so quickly to phone calls regarding any questions one may have concerning the work being done. We had an entire replacement of our roof and they not only did a great job, but they cleaned and removed all debris. I wish to thank Ron for being so great and if anyone is looking for a reliable company, I certainly would recommend them.

Everyone I spoke with on the phone was polite and helpful. Very communicative during the appointment and service phases. The technicians, Luis and Chico were courteous and professional. They worked diligently, installed a new flue liner, and cleaned up everything when they were done.

I've never dealt with a more pathetic company. The did a "temporary fix" in the summer of 2017 and promised to be out the following weekend to finish; they never showed. They scheduled a cleaning in summer of 2018 at which point they again were going to finish their temp fix; never showed. They called in January 2019 to apologize and reschedule the long overdue cleaning which was supposed to be today.... Shame on me for thinking they might show up. 3 times now and they've never been back after the initial visit. I only considered them because our oil company, Region Energy works with them. A1 gets A1 star review. Just awful.

A1 came and gave a quote for roofing services. I had a leaking sky light and it was damaging my ceiling. They said they would be back on Monday to fix, they never showed up. I called 4 times and spoke to the person who handles scheduling and was told each time I would be contacted, they never contacted me. I would avoid using A1 at all costs.

Terrible customer service and lack of communication will keep me from using them ever. As a first time customer I scheduled a chimney inspection between 9 and 11. Customer service called at 10 to say the technician could not be there until between 2 and 4 due to some problems (no details, just saying there was a delay). I agreed and 4 came and went with no phone call and no one at my house and I call at 4:15 saying the technician MAY be there by 6, no guarantee. I tell them to call ahead because I may not be there. I received a phone call at 5:30 from customer service rep Michael based in New Jersey (based upon the number that came up on my cell phone) to tell me the reason for the delay was an emergency of another customer not having any heat and the next available day for someone to come out was 7 days. So not only did no one call to tell me about any of these details, two missed windows for service, and now I was being bumped back by 7 days. I told him this was unacceptable and that why can't they bump someone the very next day to accommodate me? He said they could not and I thanked him for his time, but the fact my wife had to give up her day (and pay) to sit at home waiting for someone to not show and not call was unacceptable and I would be going to another company.

I had my furnace chimney liner replaced and my fireplace chimney cleaned. These guys are great! They were very courteous and professional and the work was completed a lot quicker than I anticipated and their prices are very reasonable. I'd used them a year ago for a chimney cleaning and liked their work. I would highly recommend them! Plus they do other jobs as well - gotta love one stop shopping!

So I hate leaving businesses negative reviews, but this business deserves 1-star. We had schedule an inspection during the work week, which we had to call out of work and use PTO time. Last minute they cancelled. They dismissive phone operator reschedule us to the next day. That said, an hour after the second missed appointment they said they can’t make it. But they can stop by when it’s convenient for them. How about no. Stay away from this business.

I am a plumber. A customer of mine had used A1 and was pleased. I needed chimney work on some buildings that had projects going on. 4 chimneys needed lining in 2 separate buildings. Their price was very fair so I contracted with them. They arrived on time. 3 crews with 9 men! They finished the first building by 1:00 and surprised me by saying they were going to the next building. They skipped lunch, (I realized this and ran out for pizzas) and finished building #2 by 5:00. My customer was thrilled. Clean work and very well done. Very polite workers. The most professional company I have ever worked with. 5 stars is not enough.

Recently my mother had some work done on her chimney. I called A-1 at about 2pm and we had George and Cesar arrive at the house within an hour. We were very impressed with their professionalism and the cost of the repair was fair. All the work was completed by 5 pm and my mother remarked how clean and courteous the staff was. We felt like we were in very good hands with A-1 Affordable Construction and would not hesitate to use them again. I just had an incredible experience yesterday with A-1 Affordable Construction Co. and wanted to share. I hired them to install a chimney liner after cleaning the original chimney. The team of three was led by Chris. He was very professional and guided the other two with his expertise. Chris is a great leader for the team and put me at ease right away. Chris was very pleasant to talk to as well as educating me on the process. As a woman I appreciated that he spoke to me and not at me. The team worked like a well- oiled machine completing the job in no time even in the heat. When I offered them all water they were very appreciative. The cleanup was amazing as well. You wouldn't even know they were there. The chimney is now well equipped with top quality parts that will help me have a great working and safe chimney. I would recommend this company for any home repair needed. They even called later to ask how things were running. Loved that!

I had them put new gutters and vinyl fascias around my entire house. We did have a little scheduling problem that took a few days to work out... No big deal. I would recommend them, because even when the old house (built in 1930's) surprised us with rotted wood on the back half...they stuck to their quote. The owner came out and walked me through the entire job. He said they've been in business for 30 years. Maybe they still believe in establishing long term relationships.

No Stars is not an option but it has been the most frustrating dilemma with this company, we used them to fix our gutters around the house around 11 months ago. Everything looked great right until it rained for the first time 3 weeks after the install. At that point we realized how poor a job they did. We have tried on many occasions to get them to come out and they never show up (emails, phone calls). PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY they are UNRELIABLE and extremely poor consideration toward their customers. They have been paid in full you would think they would help you out and they talk to you about guarantees its all BS, its been 10 months and no one has even attempted to contact us to resolve our issues. Not worth your time find someone better.

Well let’s just start by saying they beat the competition not just in price but in customer service as well. They sent a professional to do the estimate and when he was done he said “ this is a big job so I want you to shop around and make sure your getting the best rate for the job” and I did just that his pricing was spot on. And everything he said was needed was the same as the other quotes. So I called them up and they were booked solid but hey were able to get me a next day appointment. And many were they thorough. Before they did the work they explained everything that needed to be done. And after they completed the job they showed me everything they did. I’m no roofing expert but I know enough now about how to keep up my roof/chimney. After they left I got a customer satisfaction call from the owner whom I was glad to give an awesome report to. I will definitely recommend them to any one who needs roofing/and or chimney work done. Thank you A-1

Very poor service, made an appointment, called a half hour before they were to arrive, waited over one hour called them back to find out their where about. The rude girl on the phone stated that since I did not return her call. She rerouted them to confirm that I was home. Rescheduled the appointment for a few days later, again waited all day when my wife called at 330pm the rude girl again said that they had an emergency and she could reschedule. At that time they called me and asked to reschedule which I declined, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!

The customer service at A-1 Affordable Construction is anything but what it promises to be. They installed my chimney sleeve on 7/18/18 and as of 12/28/18 it has yet to be inspected. Furthermore, the experiences I have had with trying to get it inspected have been infuriating in having to deal with people who seem like they do not know what they are doing. I have to constantly follow up with them and are constantly promised that I will hear back from them after they have spoken to my township (which they also keep referring to the wrong township) to schedule the inspection, but have never received a call back. In fact, I was even told that someone left me a voicemail, but I did not receive one. I was recently promised that after the holiday (Thanksgiving) they were going to contact the township to schedule and in that same conversation gave me a date of 12/28/18 between 1 and 5. I never received any call back to confirm so the day of I called them to confirm and they were so confused because they didn't have me down for any inspection. I was transferred to a person who once again referred to an incorrect township and confidently said she spoke to me last in November but just called my township yesterday 12/27/18 to schedule the inspection which is now scheduled for 1/24/18 which is 6 months after installation by the way. I in no way recommend this company. Save yourself the time and frustration and go with anybody else.

I had an extremely poor experience with A1 this week. On 11/7/18, they were supposed to work in conjunction with PSEG at my home when I purchased a new furnace (to do the chimney portion) but they never showed; someone from A1 said they never noticed the email. I had to call to see what happened and when someone would be completing the work that was promised. When A1 finally came to do the work on 11/8/18 one of the workers disconnected something from my boiler ( that they were not there to service and should not have been touching) and caused me to have no heat for the entire night (I was not aware of their huge mistake until hours after they left). I had to call PSEG to fix the mess A1 made and had to wait until the next day for service. After all of their mistakes their customer service representative just kept telling me how I was lucky I was getting it done missing the fact that my time was wasted because they were negligent on 2 consecutive occasions. Please do not use this company, there is nothing A1 about their service. Update 12-14-18 I received a reply for them dropping the ball on sub par service with the appointment but the owner failed to apologize for them disconnecting wires they had no business touching on another unit causing me to lose heat in the winter (as indicated in my initial review). My boiler from another floor ( I have a 2 family home) was working fine before they came and they disconnected it when they should not have touched it. They won't even accept responsibility for that. A1 mess ups and A1 excuses are all they offer.

There’s many things I can say regarding my time working with A1 Affordable....but I will just stick to this: What I dont like is the fact that they will literally reschedule your appointment every single day if they feel the money is not there! So if you got a small leak on your roof....but already have a chimney liner or your chimney inspected...forget about it! Don’t waste your time because they will reschedule many many many times. And then once the customer has just about had it, they will try everything they can to get out there so BAD reviews don’t come out. It’s sad and unfair to many that want work done. If you want your chimney cleaned but have already a liner....well forget about that too because it will probably be rescheduled due to A)emergencies, B) weather, C) we “called and left a message” but you didn’t pick up or call back in less then 10 min. Seems legit....but coming from the man who was I’m pretty sure experienced the most in having to call and talk to these people and tell them “I’m sorry, we can’t get out there today” it’s just unfair. Every time I did it I got more and more accustomed to just lying and being ok with it but in reality it’s not right and there were many times where I would call to reschedule for the 4th or 5th time because of “emergencies” and customers would lose it or even start crying to me. That is the motto, and I quote... “ we will get there when we get there, but when we get there we will give great quality work.” And that statement couldn’t be more true, but I just personally don’t find it right. And just because it’s not an expensive job, it’s still someone giving an opportunity for more work in the future to be done.

I'm very thankful that this company, although I set up an appt for sat, their customer service rep mentioned to me I didn't have to wait till sat. They were able to come on Friday the 15th to fix my chimney. They rearranged their schedule according to mine and fulfilled my need on sending a technician that spoke Spanish to do this job and who helped my wife greatly. As far as the technician goes, they were very professional, respectful and organized. They explained step by step to my wife what was going on, showed her what they were doing, cleaned up after job was done and they did not leave any mess around. Most importantly they were efficient, fast and as the name of the company states the job they did and prize was very reasonable. Last but not least, like no other company now a days, they made me a courtesy follow up call this morning to check how everything was at home today. Not happy so far. About a week ago I had new gutters and screens installed. I also had some wood exposed at the top of one side of my house and I was getting several small leaks whenever I got heavy rain. Ralph is the guy who came out and gave me an estimate for the repair. He said he will just have flashing put in that area/side. Got heavy rain 8/17/18 and I heard noise that woke me up. Water was pouring in 1 of the 3 spots I use to get water in. I called the very next day 8/18/18 and spoke to a lady named Hazel she said she would contact Ralph. No one called me that Saturday or Monday so I called back today and,spoke to a different young lady. She put me on hold and said Ralph said someone will be out Thursday or Friday. I feel like if I didn't call today they wouldn't have called me and I also feel like this shouldn't have to wait until Thursday or Friday it should be a priority!! Heavy rain is expected tonight and my bedroom ceiling is going to get more damage after this. I don't like how they are handling my situation after they got my money and I'm not satisfied how they do business at all.

Don't let this company waste your time. I called at 9:30 a.m. to schedule a level 2 chimney inspection; They told me they could do it today and they would call me 30 minutes before the technician would arrive. At 1 p.m. I called back to confirm and again they promised they would be able to do the inspection today. I called at 4 p.m. and again I was promised they would be there. I called again at 5 p.m. and at that time they told me they weren't going to make it. I wasted my entire day based on their phony promises. I can not review their work simply because they never showed up. I've should have read their reviews before scheduling anything with them. Beware.

A1 has been nothing but professional and friendly. I had a clogged chimney in my home at 8PM. I didnt think anyone would respond let alone show up with everything to help but they answered and treated my case with the highest priority. Within 20 minutes, 2 technicians showed up and cleared out my issue. I had a clog and if left untreated, could have caused health issues and other dangers. They even gave me a list of recommendations to protect myself in the future. Stand up guys all around.

A-1 Affordable was highly recommended by my plumber the day he serviced by two boilers. I told him that my chimney liner was somewhat of a "train wreck" and that I'd already gotten a repair estimate. He suggested that I try A-1 (his company deals with them on a regular basis) for a second estimate and I'm glad I did. The job was completed in a few hours on the same day they gave me their estimate, and the work is really a cut above. The bill was almost $500.00 less than the other estimate and the chimney easily passed inspection. Shortly thereafter I called on them again regarding another somewhat strange issue concerning water (and stray cats) getting into my basement. Despite my erratic work schedule and the inclement weather, the job was scheduled and completed in less than one day, for a reasonable price. I will most definitely call on them again for some other repairs soon. Like any other construction company they are busy but it seems that there is always someone who will call you to address any concern(s) or problem(s) regarding their work. Thanks for reading. JC.

Nevertheless, the quality of their work was exceptional and was guaranteed. when after a few years the wall showed some cracks, they repaired the entire structure, exactly as they committed in the contract. they are polite, honest, get the job done and very dependable. He was to get a crew to perform the work just an hour after the estimate. Second crew did a great job with installing the liner, cap, and patching the flue pipes going into the chimney. They canceled the first appt, the second appt I called them in the middle of the time they were supposed to be out for them to tell me they were short staffed, as if they didn't know they were going to be short staff in the beginning of the day. I am now half way thru the third time frame and I CALLED for them to tell me now that there was an emergency and wont be out for atleast another 3 hours. I will be calling Petro, who they do work for, and telling them that the company they chose to do work for them sucks. I just spoke to Scott some kind of supervisor and he tells me a different time, that's right throw the person that answered the phone under the bus. Their replies take just as long. It took 7 months for the response.

What an unreliable company. I called them because I used them on my Chimney service and at first they seemed reputable. However, I had asked them about masonry work and they scheduled an appointment with me from with a 9-1 timeframe. They called an hour before 9AM and I was on an ambulance call and could not pick up. They cancelled my appointment and took having to call the office to get someone out there. Spoke with a supervisor and he had a tech come out. That tech simply took picture and it took a week and no estimate. I then was told an engineer had to come out for a second appointment. I again had an appointment between 9-1 and my wife stayed home and waited only to get a call at 12:15 that they were not keeping the appointment. I can only imagine how it would have been if I hired them. What a catastrophe this has been and caution people to stay away. I will also be calling the Better Business Bureau as well.

I had a terrible roof leak into my kitchen area last month and needed roofers ASAP. The first roofing company charged me a ridiculous amount just to "patch" the roof which they did horribly. A-1 gave me a new roof and did it for a reasonable price compared to the other contractors on HomeAdvisor. I worked with Antwan and he explained everything to me. The other techs that had to come by the house were also helpful and tried to explain what the problems were to me and my husband and even took several pictures to send to my insurance company. The call center seems a little bit unorganized, but they were pleasant as well. They were a little bit late to one of the appointments and took an extra day to clean the debris, but otherwise they were very professional.

In an unfortunate chain of events, a simple chimney cleaning for my new property turned out to be a whole new lining for the boiler to run out the chimney & then have it closed off. A-1 was on it the same day! They were very professional and worked tirelessly to get the job done in a single day even though the home is very old making the work much more intense than a newly built home. A-1 cleaned up all the debris, showed me pictures of the work (inside the chimney and on the rooftop) when completed and kept me abreast of what they were doing the entire time from start to finish. Above all else, the price was fantastic for such a tough job (I compared prices!). I will be using them in the future for any and all chimney needs. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Had them out to inspected a chimney in a house I am purchasing. He came out looked at it from the ground. No ladder or going onto the roof. It was an automatic tear down or mesh it. I am very disappointed that the time was not taken to look at it and tell me what's wrong, why it happened, and the best way and most affordable way to make any repairs if needed. I told him that if it needed to be done that it would have to wait until next yr since old knob and tube was the first to be addressed along with termites, and a sewer line problem. I never received the estimate. If i could give them no stars that would be best. I will not do business with a company that cannot take the time to let someone who's looking for someone reliable in their field.

First of all, I would give them zero star if possible. We have spent ~$40k for cement work around the front and back (80% around the house) plus a new bilco door starting back in Aug 2013. Even tough we have paid in full back in Nov 2013, as of now 14/Apr/2014, there are still some incomplete works. Getting responses from them is increasing challenging despite our months of hone calls and text messages since Nov 2013. Worst of all, what the Bilco door solution is substandard. Their design of the base is so useless that during our first spring rainy day (in March 2014) we have heavy rain leaking through and damage our newly finished basement floor. Despite calls and emails with pictures, we are still no receiving a permanent fix. There is another issue with the front landing which cost me $10k. Even they are rebuilding it from scratch. It is simply not pitch at the right angle when the snow melt and under heavy rain, the water flow to the wall and down through the gap of our front siding and the cement rather than flow outward to the side way. With both critical defects, I don't see the quality of their works. What they have told me before of "Doing thing right at the beginning" is just lie. I will be complaining to BBB for such a bad job they did.

They are absolutely horrible at coming when they say they are coming and have left me waiting twice already. Two days I took off from work and they didn't show up. They are not reliable.

While cleaning my chimney, they identified cracks that needed to be fixed. They had the materials on the truck and were able to replace the liner the same day. Received an affordable quote in October..still waiting for them to show up! Several scheduled appointments came and went until I finally gave up. I'm not sure if it's because the job is only for a few hundred bucks or if they were just too busy. This place lacks the common decency to understand that people aren't just sitting at home! I finally was over receiving failed promises from a contractor that obviously doesn't reside anywhere near Edison because he's always in North Jersey. I don't have time for Ralph the contractor to show up whenever he feels like it!!

I am currently reaching out to local roofing companies to build a Dormer on my new roof. I reached out to A1 Affordable and no one answered so I left a VM. Someone calls me back after an hour. We speak, and I advise the person that I am available after 6pm week days and weekends all day. About 12:30PM I can a call while I am in a meeting at work 2 times in a row. Telling me that the person can come now for an estimate. I tell the very unprofessional lady on the phone I am at work and I never requested any one to come today. She tells me well we have you down today for 1 to 5PM. So I am trying to explain to her that I never asked for such an appointment but she keeps cutting me off. Then I get a call from a family member advising me they are at my house asking to go in. I asked them to leave as I am not there. I get a call from this guy Keth whom claims he is the owner telling me that they decided to stop by because they were in the area. So you telling me you decide when to stop by without making an appointment. He tells me yes. After complain about the girls attitude and how she kept cutting me off he tells me well she is professional and this is your opinion. I do not recommend even calling this number or dealing with this company. If this is how they do business I would highly recommend staying away from them. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB on this case.

Ralph Duvall came to my house and gave me a verbal estimate for a job ($900.00). The job was to be done on Friday May 2, 2014. I was called by Ralph that morning and told they could not do the job on that day because they were backed up. We agreed on doing it Wednesday May 7, 2014. After calling May 5 and 6 to verify, I called again and spoke to Ralph on May 7, 2014 he said I am sending two guys over now. Once there Ralph spoke to the guys over the phone and changed the price of the job and refused to do the job for the agreed price of $900.00. Ralph then over the phone quoted me a new price of $1500.00. He reason was he made a mistake. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! I will never call them again.

Called them to set up an appointment twice to clean out my chimney forst week they called me and told me due to an emergency they were unable to service my chimney and gave me another appointment on. They send me a wrong crew that told me they were sent by mistake and someone else would come in later that day to work on my chimney around 330 that day someone called me and told me that due to another emergency they would be unable to come in and they would like to reschedule needless to say i would never use them again nor recommend them. They replaces two stainless steel liners. One for the furnace and one for the wood stove. They then cleaned the fireplace from the roof.This jammed the fireplace damper.They then had to replace damper at a additional cost of over $600. They did work on the roof to patch cement. They covered it with plastic because it was raining. They said they would remove plastic when the rain stops. As soon as they left I noticed they damaged the gutter. I called and one of the bosses had them return the next day to fix the gutter. While fixing the gutter in the RAIN the removed the plastic off the cement that was not dry. They had to come back and do cement work over.Oh the damper they replaced is on the top of the chimney with a chain down below. They never told me I should have a cap on it. I called and was told yes we can custom make one but thats a lot more money. I told the boss they should of told me all of this up front. I Have Region Oil in Dover N J for 30 years they recommended them.
