Outstanding craftsmanship and professionalism! George Trojan, Jr. is always our first call when we need contracting work done. He has tackled big projects and small ones as well. Regardless of scope, and whether he's working on his own or supervising a team, everything has been done beautifully and on time.

It is rare this day and age to find tradesmen who are accountable, skilled, and passionate in what they do. George and his team at American Design check all those boxes and more. We have had several projects completed by them and the quality and craftsmanship is top notch. George is very thoughtful and will go the extra mile in helping you choose designs and materials that fit within your budget and expectations on any project. I can't recommend enough and look forward to working with them in the future.

George completed two major projects for us in 2011. The first project was a kitchen remodel that incorporated a seasonal porch on a 150-year-old home, and the second was the salvage of a partially built barn on a remote island in Casco Bay. Each project presented itself with unique challenges, and my wife and I were fortunate we had George doing the work. The kitchen remodeling project presented the usual troubles you’d expect to encounter with a 19-century home. George maintained the structural integrity of the house he expanded onto the porch and displayed an extremely high level of finished carpentry skills. George melded the old construction with the new, which allowed us to expand and update the kitchen while maintain the flow of the remodeling rooms in the house. Equally as important, he was cognizant of minimizing our loss of kitchen facilities and delaying our exposure to the early spring weather. The second project involved salvaging a partially built barn that had started to deteriorate. The most impressive aspect of the project was George’s organizational skills and his ability to coordinate a work force and deliver supplies to an island with limited transportation and resources. George’s work ethic, skill and ability to handle problems as they arose were consistent throughout both projects. We look forward to working with him again when the need arises. Jay & Joan- Dover NH

George is the only contractor we will let work on our house. George met with us numerous times to make sure the windows we were adding to a studio were what we wanted. He brought window models to show us and different quotes from different brands so we could really customize the project. The work was done spectacularly, couldn't be happier. George also came back a few weeks later to take down a supporting wall that opened up our kitchen to our living room. George arrived on time, the communication was excellent and was great company. We recommend him highly, thanks George! - Sara + Brewster

Five star Cinderella Kitchen Remodel Plus I have a lovely gourmet kitchen, guest bathroom and laundry room thanks to the guidance and excellent workmanship of George Trojan of American Building and Design. The main project that George did for us was a large scale, custom-built kitchen with extensive remodel to our 1870 Victorian house. The project was vast in size and included a degree of alteration to every room on the first floor, including basement, and the staircases. The original space was a mess. There were numerous structural. electrical, mechanical, ventilation, wood rot, and significant settlement issues that George was able to resolve. The floors sloped so badly that they were trip hazards. George removed the old wood planks, evened out the floor, which was no easy task, and installed a stunning hardwood floor. He also custom-built the numerous cabinets we wanted. He is a master carpenter, and we get lots of wows from our friends and visitors when they see his workmanship. The kitchen was enlarged by incorporating a full size bathroom, and another small room into the space. George relocated and created a guest bathroom and laundry room on the first floor and renovated the dining area. Not only are the kitchen and dining areas expansive, but there are quality details throughout the remodel as reflected in the door/window casings, baseboard, crown, custom cabinetry, and hardwood flooring. We were fortunate that George, in addition to being a skilled craftsman, had an architect's eye and remarkable design esthetic for space and functionality. He supplied architectural drawings which allowed us to develop a design that was cohesive, and met our needs while maintaining the home's vintage charm. A project of this scope, in an old fixer-upper, that included five staircases, bathroom remodel, laundry room, kitchen remodel, and dining room renovation was bound to have challenges and take time. George moved parts of the original kitchen into the dining room area giving us a fully functional kitchen for the duration of the project. There were no roadblocks that he was unable to overcome. George did almost the entire project himself other than electrical and mechanical. He was reliable, and generally showed up at 7:00 a.m., and often worked until 7:00 p.m. later. We spent a lot of time with George during the project, so it was great that he is such an easy-going, congenial guy. While it was a long process, it was well worth it, and we would do it all over again with George, and we recommend him without reservation. It has been three years since the renovation, and we are pleased with the longevity of the workmanship. We are still smiling when we walk into and cook in our lovely kitchen. Diana Meyreles Dover NH
