CertaPro was easy to contact and they got us an estimate for exterior painting right away. The price seemed fair and was within our budget, so we signed a contract with them. They then kept in touch prior to the job, answered my questions quickly, and the painter made sure to clarify what we wanted while he was working on our place. Very pleased with the overall experience.

They didn't apply a primer to our home as was stated in the contract, did a poor job scraping loose and peeling paint (also in the contract), and we had to remind them three seperate times to clean up the lead-based paint chips they had left in our yard. They never came out until we told them that we were going to have to hire a lead certified company to pick them up and send them the bill. Even after the "clean-up" was finally preformed by CertaPro we are still finding chips everywhere. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Certapro painters were awesome to work with. On time, phenomenal job and extremely professional. They cleaned up after they finished. They moved me up on their schedule as requested. The painters came in at 7 am on their last day to accommodate my request. The ladies at the office are extremely nice and accommodating. Based on my experience I would highly recommend them. I will hire them again for future jobs.

I would NOT recommend CertaPro Painters to anyone. I was highly disappointed. I met with the owner to go over what we wanted painted, and he seemed like a nice guy. He told me he personally hires all of his painters, and they are professional guys and know what they are doing. Great! I got a quote for the work, which was a reasonable price, and was told to call the office next week to get a time scheduled. I almost dropped the company because getting a hold of anyone in the office was a NIGHTMARE. I am a teacher and work pretty much straight through from 7:30 until 3:30 pm. I tried several times to call during my lunch, but never got through to who I needed to get through to. When I would call after work, the scheduler was out of the office. We played phone tag several times, with her calling me at 9 am, and me calling back when I got off work to find she was gone. Finally, we were able to connect and we got the work scheduled. They came out, painted, and it was done. When I came home from work, I discovered a TERRIBLE paint job in both of the rooms we had done. In the kitchen, the painter had gotten inch-thick stripes of the ceiling paint on the wall. In the bathroom, the painter had left the spot behind the toilet unpainted because he "couldn't reach it." We hired a company because we knew spots like that would be harder to paint. We thought we were hiring a professional painter, not an amateur. They came back out the next day and fixed it. However, they maintained that they never put the paint on the kitchen wall, and even claimed to have photos proving it was there before they painted the ceiling. We asked to see the photos, and they never did show them to us. They told us they "wanted to make it right" but still maintained that they had not done it in the first place. I had talked to the owner on the phone beforehand so he knew what was going on, and he had been confident that his office manager would get it handled and we would be very happy. This was not the case. Two days after our bathroom was painted, the paint was peeling off the ceiling. We didn't even bother calling them back to fix it. We have washed our hands of this painting company, and I am just spreading the word so that no one else makes the mistake we made.

The unprofessionalism was astounding. Hired them to tape, mud, texture and paint our basement. The drywall tape was still visible on the seams after they painted. The seams were not smooth and the texture was not what we asked for. On top of all that they painted the entire basement the WRONG COLOR! We wanted light green and they painted it brown. In addition to the shoddy work, they tracked paint on our entry and front steps, which I am unable to remove. I gave them the opportunity to fix the basement and they tried to bully me into paying more in order to fix their mistakes! Read your contract and do not trust the man who put together your quote. They will try to force you to the contract even when they do a terrible job. I told the local paint store about my experience and they were not surprised as this is the reputation CertaPro of Des Moines has.

They did a great job painting but we live in a condo complex that they were painting and we have one car garage, they would park their van in our driveway and do it to our neighbors also. When I came home I couldn’t park in my garge. I would not park my car in someone else’s driveway it is very rude. Please have your workers park on the street where it belongs.

We were really disappointed in this company and the work done. We picked this company based on how quickly them gave us a proposal and how fast they said they could get the job done as we were in the middle of moving. They seemed pricey, in the proposal, but we accepted based on their time frame given and the fact they told us (told by the owner and manager) we would get a crew. I specifically asked this and was told, twice, there would be a crew. Apparently, a crew to them can be one person...Despite me asking specifically both the owner and manager if it would be more than one person, they both responded with "yes, it will be a crew"...days later we were told by the manager they consider a crew one or more people...? The work started a day late despite being told a few different times they "probably" could accommodate our time frame. It was not a big deal as we knew the start date was not guaranteed however, we were surprised when only ONE painter showed up. When we complained about this, being concerned with when the job would be done, the painter brought in ONE more person to help him for only a few hours. He did not work Sunday which is fine and we understood. He returned Monday, again by himself. He apparently "finished" around early afternoon. When we inspected the job, he had not completed it. He left all the baseboard/floor trim in every room except one. It was in our contract that this was to be done. He also left paint smears/spots on our hardwood floors and got blue paint on our white built-ins, plus left hardened tape in multiple areas. The manager was nice/helpful and returned phone calls however, the discount offered for the lack of work done and the mess that was left was ridiculous, especially considering the well over two thousand dollars they charged for the work (4 rooms, all in same color- only 2 coats on walls, one on wainscoting). We were offered a very small discount for "our inconvenience"-- not for the lack of work done and not on time, the lack of crew, the paint now on our hardwood floors, AND the inconvenience, etc. For one person painting, and not even finishing the project, the price for the work is not worth the trouble and issues. We will not use this company again and are really disappointed with the entire process.

John, Jacob & Hunter did a fantastic job on our interior rooms and were incredibly pleasant and professional to work with. We had concerns as our house is from 1900, but shouldn't have worried at all. They did an excellent job patching the plaster and lathe, and the painting was well done. If we give up on painting the other rooms ourselves, we're definitely calling CertaPro.

I called several companies and individuals for estimates on a full exterior residential project. We had recently purchased a home with Green steel siding and a huge yellow deck and pergola-and while we loved the contemporary lines-the color was hidious! In all honesty, I was expecting a company like CertaPro to come in with the highest bid due to the size of what I assumed was a very corporately owned company. I was completely wrong. Not only was the quote 1/2 of some of my other bids, the service was completely superior. Steve, the owner, personally did the estimate and a later color consultation. The quote was done on site with no pressure to commit. The follow up sceduling, contract, communication, and final walk of the property proved to me that that they are some of the best in the home improvement industry in business and I have worked with several both locally and out of state. They even tackled an unforeseen issue curtosey of a past paint job that popped up in the job. They will be my forever painter!
