After being told 3 years ago by another major HVAC Co. in the Treasure Valley that my Compressor and Furnace needed to be replaced I called Drake for a second opinion. I recently purchased a home that was in need of many plumbing and mechanical repairs. Nick came out and did a thorough inspection of all of the plumbing fixtures, piping, and HVAC. We set a budget, and Drake Mechanical stuck to the budget, even though they ran into some unforeseeable changes to the scope of work. They replaced my furnace, AC compressor, installed a new toilet, multiple faucets and fixed all of the leaks in my plumbing system. My house is almost 80 years old, and it came with plumbing problems from the get-go. I used to call around to see who could come out soonest, but not anymore. I've had the best luck with Drake and have been using them exclusively for the past couple years. When the gears wore out in my tub faucet, I was really in a pinch. They came the next day to do a quick fix and followed up later to diagnose a secondary problem I had asked about (a problem that another company had been unable to fix years before). I was having issues with water releasing from the pressure valve. Drake stated I needed a new water heater at a cost of $3400. When I asked how that got to that much for a water heater they wouldn't give me an explanation. The secondary plumber (2nd option from Express Plumbing), diagnosed the problem as the pump tank. $200 and the issue was fixed. $3400 is double what Express quoted for a water heater but at the same time told me I didn't need a new heater!

I have used Drake Mechanical for a number of years for both my business and my home, for both plumbing and HVAC. After my recent experience I just had to write about the service. I returned home on a day in our stretch of high 90s and my A/C was not running. I called Drake like I usually do and expected a weeks wait because of the flurry of problems in the valley (I had two friends who's A/C went out recently and that was their wait time to even get someone to look at their problem) but the Drake technician managed to stop by the first thing the next day. It appears the years of cottonwood fluff had finally killed my unit. He attempted to get it to force start first, in order to keep the cost down but the thing was just stuck after all the years. He wrote up a quote on a couple of systems and left it for me to decide. Once I had made up my mind he was out the next day and had the thing installed in about 5 hours and the total matched the estimate, no overages at all, and the estimate was even lower that the tech had warned me about when I asked about the general costs of replacement. Almost all of this was handled over the phone as I had such a busy week with two sons leaving for the service. There were no real hiccups and three days from my unit going down my house was back under 72 degrees where I like it. Over the years I have called Drake at all hours of the day for different problems and always had a reasonably timed response. All the technicians that I have dealt with have been experience and professional and most of all respectful. I choose to deal with them because they are a local company and I have never had problems getting a hold of someone to help with a problem. I may also be more patient that others being a native Idahoan that is used to there being a limited amount of resources in the valley to get things done. If you want good solid service from a company that isn't part of the the national cut corners version of business that is becoming more and more common then I highly recommend at least giving Drake a try.

I called Drake Mechanical on a Tuesday and they scheduled me for a non-emergency service call on the following Thursday morning. Thursday morning they called before 08:00 and arrived before 8:30. They gave me 2 options for work I wasn't sure how to proceed on, then changed out 2 hose bibs in a tight area of a crawl space and tightened and caulked a tub spout. Price was not cheap, but not outside the range I anticipated. Bottom line is they promised what I needed, showed up when they promised and did excellent work.

The technician is an absolute crook (not to mention his foul mouth when questioned) and attempted to charge my grandmother for unnecessary work!!! Have used Drake several times . We have a basement and have had multiple issues. This last time we called in the morning and was told someone would be to our house that afternoon. They called at 3:00 and said they couldn't make it. We are sitting there with a flooded basement so the cancellation was disappointing. However, we called another company and they had someone out within 20 minutes. It was a blessing in disguise because they charged about one third of what Drake had charged us in the past. We found that Drake charges way to much compared to the other company, who provided the same service for a much more affordable price .Have shared our experience with others and would not recommend Drake .

We had a pinhole leak in our main water line coming into our basement. The water shutoff valve in the house was also frozen open. Thomas at Drake Mechanical came to our house within 24 hours. He was exceptionally professional. He fixed the leak and replaced the valve quickly with no mess. This is the second job we have used Drake for, and we are really pleased with their service.

We we're able to get an appointment the same week we called which was really nice. The tech really looked at everything and let us know other stuff that needed work and what to expect to come up. I used Drake in the past, and had good service. The last guy that came out replaced the fuse on my HVAC system, and didn't proper diagnosing of the system to figure out what was tripping the system. Instead of hooking up his multi-meter, he just kept popping in more fuses, and tripping it again from testing. Then as soon as he saw the Nest thermostat, the older guy freaked out thinking that was the problem. Then once I took the thermostat off for him, he connected the wires manually, which popped the fuse yet again. Then he realized the wire for "cooling" (AC) was the problem, he checked the AC unit. He checked the wires and said "oh its these spider webs that are blocking the connection". He cleaned it off and popped yet another fuse. He then had to search his truck high and low for 15 minutes for another fuse. He came back in finally with the fuse and the multi-meter, and found the issue in the AC unit, and replaced the part. After all was done he just pulls up a chair in my kitchen and start searching his tablet for all the prices, which was a chore for the guy. This job took 2 hours, which was crazy. I think the company probably is good, but the technician they had that day was terrible. OH, and he charged me for all the fuses that day. I disagreed with him for a moment, and finally realized I just needed him to leave my home.

I had to have my shower/tub valve, fawcets, and shower head changed. The first estimate I got was in December and was around $450 if I supplied the parts. I did not have it fixed until June (which was my fault). The price in June was $798 with me providing the valve and fixtures. I should have said no, but I need it fixed because the water would not turn off. In the MOEN box with the valve and fawcets was a bathtub spout. The technician took that with him when he left. It was a part I purchased and is rightfully mine. I have called Drake three times now trying to get the part returned to me with no luck. I was told it would be delivered to me today (Friday, June 29) and it was not. Not sure what the next action I need to take is, but I will figure it out. I would suggest that if you chose to use this company that you keep a close eye on anything you supplied. I also believe that nearly $400 an hour for labor is a bit excessive.

My furnace quit and the repair guy came out. It was the ignitor for my gas furnace which they told me would be $352. for the part. I had replaced it a few years back for $150. Online the part is available about $35.. I declined and paid for the house call. I would not do business with then again.

Sunday When I called for inquiry on Sunday - I found out couple things 1) they charge premium rates on weekend (Fair Enough, I can wait one more day) for not premium prices. And tech that did call me told me if he recalls correctly My heater is under warranty still Awesome!! Monday I take the day off so that I can call them early and get appointment setup (8:00AM) After waiting till noon and still no tech or call, I called them and I was told I was #2 in line of techs coming out and that their techs were running behind on jobs they were on today. I asked the guy, do I need to call another company so that I can get this water heater issue taken care of today? (I wasn't rude about it, I just needed to know) (Remember I took the day off, and i'm in #2 in line according to the guy). So it's about 12:30 he calls me back and he tells me he won't be able to get me in until Thursday. So I go from being #2 in line of techs coming out - to a tech now can't see me until Thursday!! What the hell happened? Now I get to go one more day without a water heater because these guys gave me run around. Oh and I get to take another day off at work at some point when new company comes out. Very disappointed in what I thought was one of the leading companies in the valley. .

Terribly disappointed with this company. After seeing their trucks and advertisement everywhere, I thought that I would give it a go and have them install a gas fireplace for me. Laren came out and gave me a quote that I thought was reasonable, so I went ahead and hired them. This was mid October 2014. Here I thought this would be a two-three day job, max. After waiting for him to "special order" several parts, (3+ weeks), I, (hence the word "I",) had to constantly call to see when he could fit me back into his schedule to come out and actually finish the job. He seemed to work once every two weeks, in 1-2 hour intervals. After one of his many trips out, I noted to him that he did a rather sloppy job on installing the gas line (its a pretty big eye sore and it is attached to the front of the house, but at a drastic downward sloping angle.) Also mentioned that I requested the stock pipe ( the piece that goes from the top of the stove out the roof) to be black. I was told black was drastically backordered, and I could go get some paint and paint it black myself. Mid December- I was finally notified that the gas inspector approved the gas line. However, the stove have some mechanical issues and needed to be serviced before it was functional. (That would be and extra $99) End of December 2014 Stove was cleaned and is currently functional. January 5 2015 I receive a pretty rude voicemail demanding payment within 48 hours, or I would be sent to a collection agency. (I wasn't notified that the job was completed in the first place, must less politely asked to pay) I call them back and pay over the phone via credit card. January 19, 2015 Noticed payment has not been removed from my account, call and ask what the holdup was, and that it was demanded from me three weeks ago. They were clueless and I was told that somebody would get back to me. I'm giving them two stars, one because the stove is functional and set up correctly, and the other, because they did honor the quote that they first gave me. This is was the first and last time that I will use Drake Mechanical. I feel three months time from the original quote is ridiculous. I recommend Western Heating and Cooling, and will use them on all future projects.

Called Drake Mechanical on a Wednesday to make an appointment to have a technician come out and see what it would take to connect our new gas cooktop. The nice lady on the phone said the next available time would be Monday. I asked if it was possible for an earlier date she said she would give me a call if there was a cancelled appointment. The next morning (Thursday) I received a call from her and said a technician can be over in an hour. The technician (Tom) arrived in 45 minutes and was very courteous and professional. I explained how I would like to have things cleaned up in the cabinet space under the cooktop and he was quick giving me the best option. We agreed to the price and he stated the work. Tom worked quickly and in a short time the new cooktop fired up. His job looks so much better than how it was before and he even helped turn on the pilot light on our water heater. From the first phone call to the at home appointment, I am pleased with the two people who help me and I will recommend them to others. Thanks a bunch.

Had a traffic incident with these guys that wasnt a big deal, he was tail gating trying intentionally to not let me over and i just went over anyways even though there was barely enough room and he slams on his horn. I flip him off because i want him to know that he's the one in the wrong. It's actually illegal to tailgate someone as well as being illegal failure to let me in. Then the guy calls my boss because i have my pizza logo on my car threatening to turn me in for flipping him off claiming that it's a felony english guy. My husband and I have a ground-source heat pump system, with a closed loop. Not many HVAC service providers are familiar with this type of system, and the company that installed our heat pump ten years ago is now out of business. About a month ago, a hairline crack in one of the main pipes developed, and we sought out an expert in the field. The first HVAC company that we tried sent out its "expert" who turned out to be inexperienced and useless. Fortunately, we then located Drake Mechanical.These folks are experienced, professional, and highly competent. They came prepared - after consulting the heat pump manufacturer and ordering necessary parts. Many thanks to Alana, our first contact, to Fred in the home office, to Jordan, who went out of his way to understand and diagnose the issue, and to Dean and John who also assisted. It was a team effort, and we are very appreciative of Drake's help.

Called in when home inspector detected a gas leak at the fireplace. Drake came out for two hours and couldn't find a leak, charged $125 and left. Intermountain gas came out and immediately red tagged it because it was leaking! Drake came back out and was able to find the leaking valve the second time around, but wanted $580 to cut into the wall, replace the valve and a small bit of pipe. This amount would not include repairing the wall afterwards. Having no confidence in the work and feeling that this was a ridiculous amount for the scope of the work I called in a plumber that I had used previously who completed the repair for $135. A handy man repaired the wall for $75. Long story short, had the leak and wall fixed for almost $400 less.

BEWARE! My hot water heater stopped working on a Friday night. My husband looked online to find a dealer of the type of unit we had, which is not common. He found Drake Mechanical and called to schedule a service time. Jordan was the technician who arrived Saturday afternoon, and he was very polite. I was home alone, as my husband was at Bogus with our children. We had researched the cost of a replacement hot water heater, and had a general idea of what we should be charged (around $1300 for just the unit). Jordan let me know that finding a replacement was difficult, but he was able to get the last one. After he checked things out, he warned me that the price was rather high. I was shocked when he gave me the figure of $6300! I asked him how much the actual hot water heater cost. He told me that he had no idea because he had just put it on his account. I asked about a tankless option, and he let me know that the cost would be almost as high. Of course I knew something was fishy so I called my husband. We decided to send Jordan on his way. This morning I called Meridian Plumbing. Brian came within a few hours and replaced our hot water heater for $2900. I don't understand why Drake would think it is ethical to charge DOUBLE what I paid elsewhere. My husband and I are in our 40s. We both grew up in Boise and have never had an experience quite like this. I don't normally write reviews, however I felt this was necessary in hopes that I can save someone else from getting taken advantage of.

Do not call them!!! I called to see about hooking up swamp cooler and about possible replacement cooler for another room. Tech showed up told me he had no clue and had never seen a cooler such as the one I had. I then had to explain where I thought the water hooked up to and was right, he said he would need to take it apart, when I questioned why he said he wasn't sure and would just see if worked just turning it on. i took him to the basement to show him water hookup and he asked why it wasn't attached, I explained how I had drained it so it didn't freeze over the winter. He hooked up ONE thing that I had to tell him how to do!!!! Then I was charged 165$ DO NOT ALLOW THESE PEOPLE TO RIP YOU OFF!!!!!!

Matt and another came out and fixed our water heater after it went out and they came to our rescue. We sure do appreciate everything that they have done for us. It was so nice to have hot water again. A lot of our friends recommended Drake Plumbing to other's on Facebook and we were so impressed. We will recommend your company to everyone. Thank you!!!

UPDATE on my earlier Post - In Rebecca Drake's response to my initial post shown below, she made it sound like they would be willing to work with me regarding the charges, which were over double what other plumbers in the Valley charge. However, she did not even discount the charge by one cent . . Not even after I made it clear that her tech told me his charges were $150 PER HOUR and nothing about any other fees at any time prior to beginning work. In fact, the tech told me that since Drake was the one who had replaced the valve in 2017 he would see what they could do. Again, I'm very disappointed that Drake really doesn't care about their customers or about overcharging for simple plumbing jobs. I won't be using them in the future. Drake Mechanical charged me $434.56 for a 30-40 minute job. The actual repair guy told me over the phone before he came out that his rate was $150.00 an hour because it was before 8 a.m., so obviously I was surprised when I got the bill for over $434.56. When I called their manager, Jerry, to discuss the bill, he said the $150.00 was a flat fee for coming out early and the additional $284.56 was for replacing the valve. He said he used some book containing the standard fee to replace a valve, which showed a flat fee of $284.56. Jerry said it didn't matter that his guy was done in 30 minutes, that the standard charge was $284.56. I don't know what book he is talking about because I called around to several plumbing places to find out what they would have charged me. Only two places called me back. One said they would not have charged to come out early and the other would have waited until 8 am (only 1hour longer) before coming out. Their flat fees for replacing the valve were $145.00 and $158.00. I left a message for Rebecca Drake about the charges and what the other plumbing companies told me, but she has not returned my call. I have been using Drake Mechanical for many years, but they don't care if you are a loyal customer. Won't be using them any longer. My advice - use Veteran's Plumbing or Meridian Plumbing, their fees are reasonable and they actually want your business.

Drake mechanics are very courteous; knowledgeable and professional. I am so pleased with the work done installing my new water heater that I signed a maintenance contract , Within a week my plumbing was checked out , furnace cleaned the same day. All three employees/workers are an asset to Drake Mechanical. Very pleased!

Its been a year since we used this company and I am still angry. They came to our business to fix our heating system. Well $1600 later, we were left here freezing. I called the then service manager and was told the bill would be fixed as well as the heater..no call back, for days..I then called for the owner,again no call back...I get a call months later because they want there money for services not rendered..I get the Sales Manager to come out so we can talk..he asks me "why didn't I call the owner? I said to him I did numerous times to no avail--He said he "was probably on a plane somewhere" this made no since--bottom line- we were stuck freezing while they got paid--and come to find out--The sales manager they sent out was the owners kid---wow

Come to find out, we needed to be on the "stand by" list and no promises they will come out today. I found them to be dishonest and unprofessional. First, they were 2.5 hours late. Second, they charged me $39 just for their quote without telling me beforehand they charged for the quote. Third, their quote was $320 higher than the other two plumbing companies I called. We're talking about a simple routine spigot replacement. Any competent plumber could do it in an hour or less. I wasn't able to be home for the quote because the Drake guy was 2.5 hours late, so my girlfriend handled it. This is purely my opinion, but it would appear they quoted me higher because they thought they were quoting the job to a woman. She feels the same way. 182% higher than the competition can't be explained any other way. I don't want to think about how many unsuspecting people have been swindled by this company. Please don't support this behavior.

I had a leak in my front faucet and called Drake Mechanical and was told there would be a$39.00 service charge for a review of the problem and I would be given an estimate. The plumber arrived and said I had a leak but I was NOT given an estimate of the cost. The leak was repaired - one hour labor - bill $447.00 . I asked the plumber why it was so expensive and was told because of the overhead costs in operating Drake Mechanical. I had the same kind of leak in the back faucet and called Prohaska Plumbing - labor one hour - bill $164.00. I have used Drake Mechanical before but never again.

I will absolutely continue to use them and recommend them to everyone I know when they have issues! I had them come out today, and it was Jordan instead of Matt. Don't let the goofy radio ads fool you, these guys are anything but friendly or honest. They charge $40 just to quote the job without notice of this "quote fee" ahead of time. And then they quoted me literally 186% higher than both of the other companies I called. Highly recommend going to ANYONE ELSE.

My AC unit was accidentally worked on by one of their service technicians and it stopped working. Whether it was a mistake on their part or a coincidence with my AC system failing, Drake Mechanical owned up and took care of the issue. My AC is working perfectly now. I would highly, highly recommend them. Their honesty, promptness, and professionalism during this ordeal was top notch.

We used Drake Mechanical at my work, when our pipes froze. John and Matt came out within 30 minutes of calling and were able to assess the issues right away. Based on their expert advise, we had the pipes replaced and we were back in business. Their estimate was right on, with no surprises. They nicely educated myself and my staff about how to prevent this and little changes we could make to increase the life of our equipment. Technicians were kind, clean and easy to communicate with. We will use Drake Mechanical from now on.
