My wife and I were so happy we contracted with Kurt Duval to tile our kitchen backsplash. Kurt was referred to us by Jim Duran of Exclusively Yours. Jim referred 3 local tile specialists for our consideration. We liked Kurt’s attitude and his knowledge of similar projects to what we envisioned. Kurt didn’t disappoint. His craftsmanship was just what we were looking for. He kept us informed as he stepped through the installation process. He took the time to layout the tile and planned the cuts necessary to achieve a attractive final product. Kurt kept his work space clean, covered the floor in the house and on the lanai. After the project was complete he vacuumed his work space and replaced the furniture.

Simply, we are totally pleased with Kurt Duval’s work installing natural stone on our lanai. I personally am pretty demanding when it comes to the level of care and competence that I expect. Kurt greatly exceeded my expectations! I’m an engineer and I design/build things for a living; Kurt did extraordinary work on a very difficult project. The challenge was installing square and rectangular natural stone tiles with minimal grout lines on top of an existing concrete lanai. To top it off, Kurt had to chip away concrete so the top of the new tile surface matched existing pool edging. Frankly, I don’t know anyone else that could have done this job. The end result is fantastic. Kurt is the most meticulous builder I’ve met and will take the time to make sure it’s right. I highly recommend Kurt for your stone and tile work.

What a great contractor! Kurt Duval is the owner/operator of Duval Tile & Stone. Kurt is fully licensed and insured, and his company has been operating on Maui for over 17 years. Kurt’s level of care and commitment is simply unparalleled, and his work shows the highest levels of experience and skill. He is very passionate about his work and a true artist in his field. Moreover, he is an extremely nice guy, and his rates are very competitive. Duval Tile & Stone recently tiled the entryway to our townhome in Wailea as well as a very large lanai in the back of our unit. When our unit was built in 2007, the cement pads laid by the builder were not level or “square”, and over the years hairline cracks had developed in the cement. To ensure that the new porcelain tile that Kurt was installing for us would be level and resistent to developing cracks in the future, he had to do a significant amount of remedial work to level the cement pads and seal all existing cracks before laying any new tile. The best part about hiring Duval Tile & Stone is that the owner, Kurt Duval, actually does all of the tile work himself. Typically, you will only see the owner of a tile company two times: 1) when you get the initial bid, and 2) when you give him the final payment. That is definitely not the case with Kurt Duval. He is on the worksite EVERY DAY, doing all of the work himself. Why? Because he wants the job done right! Kurt’s work ethic is truly amazing in this day and age! So, how did it all turn out? Well, Kurt did a wonderful job in installing all of the tiles. And, by the way, everyday he left the worksite neat and clean. Professionalism, integrity, and craftsmanship -- this is what Kurt Duval brings to the job. Needless to say, my wife and I are delighted with our new entryway and lanai, and we will definitely use Duval Tile & Stone for any future projects. We highly recommend Duval Tile & Stone!

Kurt was very conscientious about his work. He minimized mess during demo as we were living in the construction. He's a great collaborator when we had design ideas and his attention to detail really made his work stand above the rest as we are thrilled with the finished tile design. His professional pride in his work shines thru; he took it upon himself to implement corrections when necessary to make the tile we chose much better when flaws were discovered in the tile we purchased. Highly recommend using this company and in fact will be using him again for our next reno project.

Kurt Duval is an excellent tile contractor. He is a licensed contractor, very experienced, and his work is top quality. We have hired Kurt three times to date. Our condo was the first. On the floor, Kurt created interest by running the porcelain tiles at a diagonal in the center of the floor with a border of straight tiles along the walls, and he even mitered the corner tiles diagonally. He placed green slate in the shower and on the kitchen backsplash. The tile work of the condo was stunning! Since then, we hired Kurt for two more bathroom projects. He always keeps the job as clean as can be, protects our floors with runners, contains his work area with tarps, and vacuums regularly to keep the dust to a minimum. On both bathrooms he suggested unique tile design ideas that we agreed to do, and we are very happy with the results. Kurt always tests his water pans to verify they will not leak. We love our bathrooms, and can be confident they are as water-tight as they are gorgeous.

My wife and I used Kurt Duval about 18 years ago for our large living room and kitchen and hallways. He did an excellent job at the time. Now, we had a really tricky job and I called Kurt back up to look at a shower floor that started leaking from another stone installation almost 10 years ago. Kurt was confident he could make it look really good and not look like it was patch work job. He gently cut out the bottom squares without breaking the old walls and water sealed and replaced the flooring in a light brown colored stone with a simple pattern. It was really magic how much better its looks. Kurt is the best.
