I am starting my 3rd phase of renovation with Design Trends Construction. Eleven years ago (phase 1), they built a kitchen that is a beautiful today as it was the day it was installed. Why do I keep going back to DTC?
1. The people-Greg and his son Brenton really listen to what you want. I trust them. The people in their crew were respectful of my home and time. I never had a concern about leaving them alone in the house. They came when they promised, knew what they were doing, and left the place clean at the end of the day.
2. No problem- Brenton has clearly inherited Greg’s honesty, ethics, and ability to look at architectural/structural quirks and instantly come up with solutions. My kitchen is about 8.5 x 11 feet with a 4x12 beam and a window over the sink. No problem! Box the beam in, face it with veneer to match the cabinets, add a few lights and you’ve got soffit lighting and a seamless look. Another one over the refrigerator, perpendicular to the 1st? Build deep cabinets on both sides of the beam!
3. No mess-On installation day the truck pulled in and offloaded the cabinets in the garage. The crew tore out the old kitchen, threw the scrap into the truck, and drove it away. This job was small enough not to need a dumpster. So efficient!
4. The cabinets- DTC builds cabinets like no one else on island. The base cabinet boxes are flat on the bottom, no toe kick. After cleaning the space, they create a 2x4 frame on the floor where the cabinets will be installed. They make sure the frame is level, fix it to the floor, and place the cabinet boxes on the frame. This protects the boxes from swelling if there’s a water leak on the floor and makes it easy to install level countertops. Finally, they cover the framing to match the kitchen.
5. Customized- I wanted my cabinets to be beautiful on the inside too. No white lined boxes. I still love to open them and see the wood finish. The frameless custom corner cabinets hold so much, and I have complete access to everything. Having choices of different hardware for hinges and drawers kept me within budget.
6. General contractor- No need to coordinate multiple vendors. They do it all.
How could I even think about using anyone else when I could welcome these old friends back into my home with complete confidence that everything will be done beautifully and done right!
