My husband and I recently moved into Point Landing. We are both first time buyers so naturally we were nervous about the process and had at least a million questions. Thankfully, Emily, D.R. Hortons selling agent, is INCREDIBLE she was super helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. She showed us our house and although we fell in love with it instantly we continued to shop around just to be 100% sure our house was the one. Emily was very patient and understanding of this. She listened to our concerns and worries and helped make our home buying process easy, enjoyable and informative! We cannot thank her enough for this. Once we decided to go with our house she and our loan officer Scot made sure we got the keys to our new/first home on my birthday. I voiced that I thought that would be a super cool birthday gift and they made it happen in a little under 30 days after going under contract we closed and moved in on my birthday. Scot is also just great he was quick to respond and thorough when answering all our questions. As if all that isn’t enough, Andrew the guy in charge of the construction was phenomenal. We did multiple walk-throughs of our house and they were all pretty quick and easy because his attention to detail is impeccable. The minor stuff we did find he quickly fixed. After closing on the house we’ve had small questions so we’ve reached out to all of them individually at some point and they are still very willing to help. Emily, Andrew and Scot thank you for the kindness and help you’ve given my husband and I. You three are the dream team! We couldn’t be happier with our purchase and the journey to get us here.
Edit: Unfortunately enjoying our newly built home was short lived. Two months after closing during a storm our basement flooded. This happened on a Monday, that following Thursday with some more rain it flooded again this time worse. There was about a foot of rain water in our basement. The window caved in from the water pressure. To make matters worst our next door neighbors are experiencing the same problem. The warranty people are awful. We had to call corporate hoping to get results. When the person dealing with warranty request caught wind of this she called to yell at me I couldn’t get a word in. Needless to say, the last 2 months have been so stressful way below standard for a newly built home and what we expected from D.R Horton. The process to get things done has been like pulling teeth. We are so disappointed and saddened by this. We felt it best to contract a private inspector and he found many discrepancies with the house. From June when this happened to now all that’s been done is the insulation in the basement has been removed, but not replaced nor have we heard about when it will be replaced. They put a mountain of dirt in our back yard to slow the water down, replaced the window and put a plastic over the egress window. Our backyard looks awful not at all what you’d expect for a new home. The backyard grass collects water. It’s honestly embarrassing for people to hear this is a new home and look at how uneven and patchy our grass is now. At one point they were showing up unannounced to look at our backyard and just walking to the back without letting us know they were on our property. When we brought this up the warranty person found it outrageous to let us know when people were on our property because we don’t have a fence yet and she didn’t have time to let us know since she takes care of all the homes in Delaware. We are scheduling a walk through of the home with the warranty people hoping it all gets resolved soon. Emily, Scot and Andrew are still the dream team.
