WE WERE SO EXCITED TO BUILD OUR FIRST HOME WITH KHOVNANIAN HAVING SUCH A GREAT REPUTATION . We felt taken care of all the way up until the day we closed when suddenly the issues that arose were never ending . We were very understanding with not expecting everything to be perfect in our new home along with knowing things would pop up here and there . Everything was OKAY Up until the day our pipe burst downstairs above our finished basement in the storage area . We cleaned it all up ourselves the second we realized what was happening and called khov emergency services promptly . We were very impressed with how quickly they sent someone out to restore our basement and prevent any water damage from occurring . They ripped our baseboards up and lifted our carpet to dry it out they pulled the insulation off the wall to find the culprit of the leak and cut a hole in our ceiling . After discovering a cracked pipe they were quick to call us and tell us that it was our fault the pipe burst and that we would need to submit a water claim to our homeowners insurance to cover any repairs and work that had been done !!!! We were in shock . After calling several companies along with the Kent county Delaware plumbing inspector to confirm the root of the cause was in fact OUR FAULT . We were assured that the contractor should be held responsible as our frost proof hose bib should have never faulted the way it did . My opinion to any future home buyers is to steer clear of khovnanian homes as they will tell you they take care of these things but then refuse to do so . If you don’t trust this review ride around the neighborhood and ask fellow homeowners how they’re experience with khovnanian has been .

Nice floorplans but poor workmanship. Very Disappointed for having invested retirement money in this house. Very frustrating. Nice neighbors, nice layout, sloppy work!

The homes and the neighborhood are outstanding. I appreciate the homes not being set like a "cookie cutter" development. The downside for us was the lack of professionalism and compassion from the builder. We inquired about getting help with closing costs and possibly having them throwing in some recessed lighting for us and what we got back from the builder was he was "appalled" that we even considered asking. Barbara was nice enough to consider doing a contingency for us but even with that we felt Barbara was not interested in dealing with us because we had to sell our current home and we were not ready to just buy. A simple "it's not our policy" would have gone a long way instead of being pretentious and snooty towards a family just doing their due diligence on buying their forever home. It is very disheartening because this neighborhood is where we wanted to be but for the price point there are other neighborhoods close by that are comparable to consider.
