I called six (6) local Anchorage Plumbing and Heating companies today (1 Nov 2018). I needed a quick simple estimate to replace a hydronic garage heater in a two car garage. Diamond was the only company that found time in the day to send some one to my house. Out of the other five companies I called, one company scheduled me for tomorrow (2 Nov), another one for 28 Nov, and the rest neither took calls or returned calls. The gentleman called prior to stopping by to let me know he was in route. He checked out the current hydronic heater setup, asked questions, and quickly determined that I didn't need a replacement. He troubleshot the existing set-up and saved me a ton of money. His honesty, integrity, and personality tell the story of just were Diamond Heating is currently and where they will be in the future. I called six (6) local Anchorage Plumbing and Heating companies today (1 Nov 2018). I needed a quick simple estimate to replace a hydronic garage heater in a two car garage. Diamond was the only company that found time in the day to send some one to my house. Out of the other five companies I called, one company scheduled me for tomorrow (2 Nov), another one for 28 Nov, and the rest neither took calls or returned calls. Last month (July 2018) Diamond installed a new IBC boiler and passive hot water tank in our 37 year old house on the Lower Hillside. The salesman, Joe Dudley, was friendly, extremely well-informed, and helpful after the installation in patiently teaching me the ins and outs of the new system. The installation was extremely professional and superbly neat -- almost a work of art! Kudos to Robby V. and his helper, Keith. The telephone staff is very friendly and helpful as well. And here's something special: last Sunday, during a windstorm spawned by a waning Pacific typhoon, we had a brief power outage, most likely with a surge. The boiler shut down and could not be restarted. I called Diamond, the answering service picked up on the second ring, and within 10 minutes I got a call from Keith (the technician). I described the problem, he thought for a moment, then said he would be right over. 30 minutes later, he arrived and fixed the problem. That is exemplary service for normal business hours on a weekday -- and this was a Sunday. In Alaska, a heating system is the heart of the house — the most important "appliance." Just bought a new forced air furnace from Joe Dudley there. He and his installer, Troy, have transformed our home life. We replaced a 32 year old unit that kicked out dust bunnies every time the loud furnace kicked on. The new unit has a fan that spins 24 hours a day that you cannot hear. It’s connected to a hospital grade air filter that filters out everything in the air, even down to the finest particles (mold, bacteria, and viruse). We also no longer need to dust our house hardly ever at all (maybe once a year and still there is hardly anything). Buy from Joe; don’t wait. It’ll improve your life. Our water heater wasn't producing hot water. We called Diamond Heating/AirTemp Alaska, and they sent a tech out. He diagnosed the issue and then told my wife, who was there to meet him, that if it were him, he "would just buy a new water heater." My wife commented that the water heater was newer, installed fewer than six years ago just before we purchased our home. The tech challenged her on that assumption, saying that the water heater could be the original water heater from 1996 and we were lied to during the sale. Finding it hard to believe that the tech couldn't distinguish between a three-decade old water heater and a six-year old water heater, my wife looked up the serial number online. The water heater is, in fact, six years old. In fact, it was still under warranty. So my wife asked the tech for a quote to simply repair the water heater, and he obliged. His estimate was just over a thousand dollars. The next day, I learned that a coworker's husband is a reputable plumber. He came by and diagnosed the problem. He found the same issue as the Diamond Heating/AirTemp Alaska tech. However, his opinion was that there was no need to buy a new water heater. He suggested that we replace a part and had the problem fixed within two hours for less than $250. Who can say whether this was an isolated experience or a routine business practice? I just know that we'll send our business elsewhere in the future.

My experience began several years ago when we needed a new heating furnace in the house. The salesman was extremely professional and his expertise was unequalled. The installation was performed by Herm and his assistant. They showed up at the appointed time and installed the furnace very quickly. We were never without heat. Then a few years ago Diamond installed an air-conditioner for us. Because of fire-smoke, dust and pollen, we had to close our windows during the summer months (it was almost unbearable) The air-conditioner has operated perfectly ever since. Last year, our old water heater went on the injured-reserve list and needed to be replaced. Again, we turned to Diamond for a replacement. Jack Meyer described to me what a tankless water heater is, and I thought it was the best option for us. That water heater has saved us so much money. We also use Diamond's preventive maintenance program to keep these appliances in top working order. In my opinion, Diamond is number one in sales, installation and maintenance of all heating and cooling systems.

Had a water heater decide that it's insides should be on the outsides and I'm no scientist but I'm pretty sure they operate better with the insides on the inside. Diamond heating was recommended to us from some co-workers, and we could not be happier with the service we received. Joe came by for an estimate and explained the process and not once did we feel like we were just another customer to make a quick buck on. Joe was nice, answered all our questions and asked his own to determine our best course of action. We were able to get our new water heater installed promptly, along with the removal of the old components. The installation was great as well, Chris(I think, I'm sorry I can't remember!) was knowledgeable and answered my questions that I had and didn't seem to mind my occasional hovering to see how he did things. He left the area cleaner than he found it, and explained what he did when he was done. I do have to reschedule a follow up appointment, but that's my fault and not Diamonds at all. 10/10 would call again!

Diamond heating did an install little over a year ago. They came out twice for courtesy inspection. Since then we had a leak. Due to schedule and living out in the valley, we agreed upon a date/time. The tech was very prompt, called ahead. Tom did a walk through if the system. They are an Anchorage based company however they waved the travel fee. It was leaking from a plumbing pipe but it's not something they fix. They gave me a place to go to. I have more work that needs to be done to my heating system, we are going to expand on it. Once we save up enough for it they will have my business. I've dealt with them several times, very courteous, reply by phone and email. Owning a house is an investment, they are not the lowest nor the highest bid I received. I know the work they do is top notch, my investment is in good hands.

Dispatch was quick to respond and coordinate a technician to get out on site. Technician came, repaired a broken part, checked to make sure the heater worked and 2 days later failure. Emailed again and stated our initial request was a full service to ensure there were no problems (I understand weird things happen) and the technician came out to say it was gas valve problem and damaged one of our connectors in the process and half-a**ed repairing it. However the technician did not charge for labor or call out the second time. That evening no heat just a loud relay click sound because there is poor connectivity. After emailing customer service I decided after two weeks and $1,000 in repairs with no heat that I was going to use a different company who wasn't going to rush a patch job and take the time to go through each step of the process. The only reason this isn't a 1 star is because of the dispatch staff were responsive and friendly.

Our water heater wasn't producing hot water. We called Diamond Heating/AirTemp Alaska, and they sent a tech out. He diagnosed the issue and then told my wife, who was there to meet him, that if it were him, he "would just buy a new water heater." My wife commented that the water heater was newer, installed fewer than six years ago just before we purchased our home. The tech challenged her on that assumption, saying that the water heater could be the original water heater from 1996 and we were lied to during the sale. Finding it hard to believe that the tech couldn't distinguish between a three-decade old water heater and a six-year old water heater, my wife looked up the serial number online. The water heater is, in fact, six years old. In fact, it was still under warranty. So my wife asked the tech for a quote to simply repair the water heater, and he obliged. His estimate was just over a thousand dollars. The next day, I learned that a coworker's husband is a reputable plumber. He came by and diagnosed the problem. He found the same issue as the Diamond Heating/AirTemp Alaska tech. However, his opinion was that there was no need to buy a new water heater. He suggested that we replace a part and had the problem fixed within two hours for less than $250. Who can say whether this was an isolated experience or a routine business practice? I just know that we'll send our business elsewhere in the future.

Not too impressed so far. Been waiting for 1.5 hours for their technician to show up when I am supposedly the first call of the day. Don't tell me he's on the road heading my way if that's not true. This is Anchorage, it only takes 20 minutes to get anywhere. UPDATE: AirTemp Alaska was quick to rectify the scheduling error. Their technician seemed knowledgeable and was able to identify things wrong with our HVAC unit that other technicians couldn't. Looking forward to receiving their full quote to repair our HVAC, that I hope is heading my way today.

Wish you guys did not charge $525 for a $125 pump just because we called you after hours. Friendly technician, work was done right. But was charged $560 for a 125psi pump which cost $125 at Lowe’s and another $300 for an hour of labor charge. Paid a total of $825 to change a pump on my boiler. Will try to get couple more quotes next time. Had no choice this time because kids were starting to get cold.
