Thanks to Steve at HRO. I recently purchased an Acom amp and Steve was very knowledgeable and very helpful in answering questions about the product after I received it. It's on the air it and works as advertised, it was an excellent purchased. Thanks to all at HRO.

Working to get my mobile HF rig back going in the truck. Folks were helpful and patient as I schemed a non standard antenna install hypothesis...

Eric Hidle

I enjoy stopping in this HRO store whenever I'm in the DC area visiting family. Steve runs a great shop and everyone there knows their stuff and is very helpful.

One of the onlyham radio stores in the region, good selection of radio's. Gear. Prices are ok.

Sid Bolden

Excellent customer service. They had the parts I needed for my ham radio.

KM4RHI here - new Ham looking for help and so glad to live within 30 minutes of the Woodbridge HRO. All the staff know their stuff and are quick to recommend the right equipment for my level of use. Even to the point of suggesting I wait on some items until I get my shack installed - how great is that? HRO website is top notch as well...you can "visit" any store to take advantage of special deals like open box, discontinued or even used stuff - it's ALL GOOD!

David Young

A whole new world with a life time of entertainment.

Ed Skinner

It is hard to find a bricks and mortar amateur radio store these days. Nice store, good inventory.

Nancy Finn

Sales associate was very patient with my husband who knew some of the functions he wanted but wasn't sure of the exact product.

Robert Kazmierski

About a week ago I had a bad experience at the Oakland Ca. store of ham radio outlet trying to order a ALM 31 crank up tower. I sent an email late at night to hro customer service dept. The very next day I received a phone call from Steve Gilmore the national customer service manager. He was very concerned and apologized sincerely. He was able to arrange for me to pick up the mast at US TOWER just three days later and at a $100 discount. This is what I call great customer service. Thank you so much Steve. Bob WE6M

Always a delight to visit. They always have what I need and then some. What a hobby!!!

Dan Wolfe

Always friendly and knowledgeable, I always enjoy going into Ham Radio Outlet. They have a great mail order service, but the expertise in the store there in Woodbridge is terrific. They have advised me, a new amateur radio operator, a number of times and their advice has always been spot-on. Absolutely recommend.

Tod Caldwell

They know their products and the community radio clubs. Asked if my son was getting into ham radio hobby.

Chris Bayus

Great place. Just wish they wern't the only retail ham radio store in the area.

I Insisted on detouring to HRO Woodbridge on my way back from a trip to Lakehurst, NJ for business. Coincidently, the traffic on 95 was beginning to back up just where we exited. Having been to another of their stores, my expectations were not high but when I entered the store I was genuinely surprised and pleased! A very nice showroom with a lot of stock. Helpful staff. I'm about 2 hours away and will definitely be back to purchase my next radio( after playing with the demos)

I cringe everytime I walk in here and the only reason I walk in here is if I need something now. Most of the staff is rude. And they leaving me feeling like I'm bothering them. After this visit I have decided I'm only ordering online from other retailers or Amazon or Ebay. I have better customer experience at Walmart than hro and that's saying a lot

Walt Eis

I'm a new Ham, and still have a lot of questions. My wife and I stopped in a few months ago to check out the store. The staff were very helpful and friendly. What was also impressive was that they didn't ignore my wife when she'd ask questions. Believe me, that's a rarity. Besides an impressive stock of radios they also have a good selection of guides and diy books.

Jennie Hagen

They always help me out.

Hans Peter HB9EDP

Made all the long way from Switzerland and really, all the positive attributes of the enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff members can for sure be confirmed. They know what they are talking about from their own experiences as ham operators and they live and share this spirit. Although small in surface this shop has a huge range of ham stuff including books and other teaching material. The visit was worth its money and the experience is priceless 73 de HB9EDP

Nice store, good folks, expensive toys.

This place has everything you need related to Ham radios. Lots of books and study guides to get your license too.

Jeffrey Meyer

All the staff was very helpful and the mgr. was willing to sit beside me to explain and demonstrate the operation of both of the Yaesu & Kenwood rigs I was considering to purchase. Couldn't ask for better personal service, consistently worth the 4 hours drive to the Woodbridge store and always worth the trip. They have earned by business with both exceptional service and competitive pricing as well. Kudos! Jeff Meyer K4DKW

HRO has been a tremendous help to me. I would not have had the successful introduction to ham radio without their kind and courteous help. My first few months of ham radio have been quite remarkable considering I knew next to nothing about the selection of equipment I might need and how to get started. The equipment has all performed flawlessly and to date I have made well over 150 contacts in appx. 35 countries, all since the end of January of this year. Thank-you for your dedicated service. Rich Reimer (KC3DMZ)

Always has what I'm looking for. Very nice staff.

Michael Baxter

Knowledgeable and mostly cordial staff of licensed amateur radio operators. Their prices are mostly on par with most other large On-Line retail amateur distributors. HRO has the advantage of having locations in or near major metropolitan areas. You can actually look at and explore the radios and other technology you are interested in before purchasing them. Most of the other On-Line amateur focused retailers can't provide the same thing. They have open box deals and just about anything you need to get your mobile rig or shack up and running.

R. Barnette

The staff was excellent! Steve was a great help and I met some other enthusiasts as well. I really appreciated being able to check out the radios hands-on right there in the store before I decided on a purchase. When I had some questions about the rig I decided to buy, they were even able to recommend some additional equipment. Even their online shop is a breeze. I'll definitely be going back!

Kristian J

Glad I made the trip. Went over to look at the Kenwood TH-F6A and a few antennae. The guys helped tremendously, were very friendly and knew what they were talking about. Prices matched anywhere I could find on the web and they stock just about anything you could want. Will definitely pay HRO another visit very soon. Couldn't be happier!

Joseph Smilth - N4JCS, has always helped me when I go to the store. I just stopped in on the way up North and wanted to see if they could sell me a replacement cable for my car 2 meter/440 antenna. Joseph looked it up when I bought it and found that even though had been discontinued they had two at another location. I wanted it for the trip then he found a cable that would fit in stock and I was good to go! I am so pleased there is still a Ham Radio store you can go to. It is the only one in the whole area. I brought my Father here a few times when he was alive and we had a good time looking at things. Stop in if you are in the area and thanks Joseph for all the help over the years. I was in Anaheim at the end of September for a work conference. I planned an extra day just for R&R. I made my way to the HRO store there. What a great bunch of folks. I had been thinking about a D-Star handheld. I ended up buying an ID51A Plus anniversary edition. The gang helped me get the right quick reference guide - even point out that I was about to purchase one that was not current. The placed an order right there so that the correct one (they were out of stock) would ship to my Richmond VA QTH from the Richmond store. When I got home it was waiting on my porch. I loved these guys in Atlanta, now I love them in Anaheim. And while I haven't darkened the door of the DC store - ridiculous traffic (and that's from the POV of an Atlanta guy) but they have been great for several online orders. Give these guys your business so they will be around for many years. BTW, I just placed a reservation on an IC-7300 using the reservation feature on their site. Don't know if the budget will allow when it becomes available in the US but this is a nice feature. And if I don't take advantage of the reservation they will credit my account for the $35.00 reservation fee. Smart!

They sold me every one of my radios. My first HT,2m, HF. All Yaesu. Ft1d, Ft2900, and my Ft450d. Never dealt with the same sales person. Each one was helpful and never persuaded my decision to use Yaesu exclusively. Loyal customer KC3EDN. 73'

Steve has gone out of his way so many times to help me in not only in deciding on a radio, but who would stay open after hours to install the 1.8 kHz ssb filter for my new ts-480hx, you just don't get that kind of service today. Just wanted to say thank you steve! just one of many aspects that have made me a lifetime customer. Happy Holidays Steve and to all at the Woodbridge store.

Dennis Herring

Everything you need in ham radio.

HRO in Woodbridge provides great service with knowledgable staff attention when I visit. I typically order online and get my purchases overnight as I live in Chesterfield.Va. Joe has always went the extra mile to help out. Thanks for the great service guys!!! A satisfied customer, 73 Ricky W4KQB

Normally I would go Gaga over this place. I know it’s a business designed to make money but apparently no one but the manager can slap on a UHF connector for me on a drive from VA Beach to home for under $20 labor. If we are wondering why we are losing HAMs everyday this is an example of why. Friendlier Service for the customers who really have to go out of their way just to walk through your door. I was going to spend more money in there and outfit myself over time but I will order online now and spend my money elsewhere. I’m sure you will survive without my business. On a good note I was able to do a one for one exchange with no issue.

Well worth the 4 hour drive, love this store, love the help you get from the guys. Always seem to have what I need in stock....

GeoS

PROS: Item got here timely considering one day was Sunday, the other a federal holiday, so mail didn't run those 2 days. Item delivered by USPS. CONS: No way to check order status online, (at least I could not find one) No tracking number or email to confirm shipment. I paid via PayPal and quickly received email invoice, and that last I heard of them until item arrived 5 days later, VA to NC. Although I really did not doubt something happened with my order, a simple email to confirm shipment is not too much to ask, everyone else does it. That is my only nit with them, hence a 4 instead of 5, because I have been satisfied with HRO in the past.

I am Steve Stimpson, W1ST, living in Chapel Hill, NC. Great store--I try to stop by on my 5+h drive to visit parents in Northern VA every time I go. So nice to have a store with hands on ability to play with a wide variety of new rigs and also thumb through a ton of books/literature, and also a great selection of ham radio station accessories. We need to keep stores like this on the map!--few and far between these days, but so valuable to the ham radio experience. Keep up the good work!

Always had the purchases sent to me in NC so never actually visited the store. Great guys, pretty knowledgeable. If you have really technical questions ask for Steve, the manager. (Almost) nothing this guy does not have an answer for!
