My Mac Pro, that was a Xmas gift (8 years ago) died. I never had a problem with my Mac. I freaked out and immediately set up an appointment with Best Buy “Geek Squard” for the earliest time that day. Upon my arrival and after “The Geek Squard” looking at my Mac, I was told that it will cost $89.00 to do a diagnostic on it, BUT they feel that because it was not coming on, the mother board has died. It will cost hundred of dollars to repair, if I choose. Your best option is to purchase another one, because it can run you some money to fix. So, I looked at new Mac’s and found one that I liked and went home, very upset.
The next day, I remembered a friend of mine telling me about “Digitcom” but being it was a Sunday, they was closed. I contacted them the next day, explaining my situation. Digitcom’s response:
“It will cost $35.00 to see what is wrong. After determining the problem, the $35.00 will be deducted from your total, IF, you decide to allow us to fix the problem”. What did I have to lose... $35.00?
I dropped off my Mac, paid the $35.00, told him what the “Geek Squard” indicated and left to go to Staples. While in Staples, for five minutes, I received a call from “Digitcom”. “Good News, your mother board is good, it’s your key board that has died, which will cost $165 plus tax to fix. I will check some other areas, just to make sure nothing else is wrong and get back to you”
When I arrived home, 1/2 hour later, I was told to pick it up, my Mac was ready to go home.
For Bestbuy “Geek Squard”, I always knew they were too expensive BUT giving me answers where my Mac was no longer usable, they will never see me again.
