About a month ago, I brought my iPhone 7 in for what seemed like the typical screen repair. First, the screens they use seem to be cheap knock-offs even though I paid around $120. Either the installation was poor or it is a cheap knock-off because whenever I pressed the screen slightly hard in any one place, it created an iridescent/rainbowy effect. This is something that *never* occurred on my old, original screen. Now, the big stuff. Within a very short amount of time after the repair, my phone begins losing service. In the beginning, it would only be for an hour or so then come back. I was content. However, I had no service for almost this entire past weekend. I’m glad no emergency occurred. My phone is looking for service as I type this post. I take my phone back to these polite gentlemen in order to hopefully resolve the problem. I wait and wait, and one of the men brings my phone back taken apart stating that their repair should not have affected the phone’s service. Okay, sure, but my phone is still losing service. Something that NEVER occurred before the repair. I am basically told that I will need to take my phone to an Apple Store miles and miles away forgoing the reason I came to them in the first place, to avoid Apple. I would call Apple to see if my warranty is still valid (which I don’t think it is considering I got a Third Party to fix it), but my phone is STILL searching for service. I am adding another story that occurred while I was there, so you may also avoid their business practices. I was in the company of a very nice gentleman with a doctorate. He had a problem remembering how much money he paid for the repair before picking up his computer, so he asked if they had a record to verify. They didn’t. When he jokingly said they should be better at accounting, an EMPLOYEE said the following: “Yeah, well, it is what it is, being a small business.” Excuse me? Since when does being a *small* business excuse your business from being disorganized with your accounting? This wonderfully nice man may have paid HCD $50 more than he should have because HCD could not keep a better track record of finances? Please, take my story as a warning. If you still wish to use them, by all means, but hopefully there are other “small businesses” that care a little more about you and especially your finances. EDIT 8/12/2019 5:30 PM : Response to the Owner Hello, Owner! You're right. My phone had no problems when it left your shop, but isn't it odd that merely within a day or so, I begin losing service after no such experience? Call it coincidental, but I do not think that is the case. I appreciate the warranty, but I do not think I will be returning to your shop. I have found someone else in Hattiesburg to help, but again, thank you! Receipt or not, I was appalled by the comment by your own employee, stated in my review, that was not acknowledged. The comment is another reason I won't be going back. (With that said, the gentleman who had the receipt or not seemed pretty adamant that he paid, but I'm just an outsider to the situation). The lackadaisical attitude he seemed to have toward finances did not jive with me! I'm sorry! I never implied that you *never* cared, not in the slightest. I still told people to use you if they wanted and still explained it was a polite experience. Your employees are nice and seem to mean well! Thank you so much for your quick response! Computer issues have always been an ongoing area of difficulty and it has been great to find a company that provides an in home service to address their computer needs. The technician came out to their home and spent hours addressing a multitude of minor issues that have stacked-up over the months. However, the most amazing thing is that they have to sign a piece of paper saying to contact you if it will be over a certain amount. They must have forgotten to do this, and in my previous review I mentioned it. Within a few hours I got a call from the owner apologizing and that he already refunded the amount over what I was hoping to spend! I absolutely would not have expected this as they really are a wonderful small, local business and it wasn't much over what I wanted to cap my spending at. Be careful. When you dropnof items you are required to sign a document stating there is a minimum charge for service. My assumption (yes assumption) was that this was for simple fixes. At the advise of the Verizon dealer, I dropped of an iPad that wouldn’t activate. I got a note back that they tried but were unsuccessful. When I went to pick it up, I was charged $25 for trying. Yes, I signed a statement agreeing to a minimum charge after being assured by the technocian that it was an easy fix. Be careful. You’ll get charged even when you leave the shop with items just as broken as when you arrived. Poor customer service in my opinion.
