I generally never leave bad reviews, but this place is probably the only place I feel the need to review and share my experience Please don’t get ur Mac here The technician who took my laptop just said There is water damage and did not even take a look at the laptop The laptop is fine and and there was no water damage , he just did not want to look into the issue , I told him no liquid was spilled and the computer turned off on it’s own , instead of investigating the issue he just updated the case as water damage and gave me a slip It was absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional way of handling a customer and not listening to the issue and jumping to conclusions The store was good and the people in the store are nice but I cannot say that about the service center Extremely disappointed

Microcenter is a place of wonder. A place that fulfills all of your wildest hopes, dreams, and fantasies. A place where you can put together the greatest rig so long as you have a thick wallet. Great selection of products. Great prices, but "deals" on top of these prices are rarely available. Check for a motherboard/chip combo deal or a graphics card/game deal. Other prices are hard to beat and even if you find it on amazon cheaper, they match it. Amazon delivers quick, but having it immediately is better! The staff is fantastic. I've gone in with numerous questions about the most random of products and they almost always have someone that knows exactly what you're looking for (down to specific details). If they don't have the answer, they will find someone who does. Most of the staff work on commission, so please be sure to get the name of anyone that helps you out! I don't work here, but I've done more than enough business here to know.

I believe the store has everything you need when it comes to computers. Great products, good prices. I always had a small hiccups with the sales clerks though. About five years ago I was looking for a new laptop. Despite having numerous sales clerks around me, I felt like I was being ignored. I had to really go out of my way to flag a clerk down. Recently, my service experience better, people were really friendly with me and were helpful. But my clerk was making assumptions on how I would enjoy and use the product that I was looking at. He was sure on predicting the way I would be using this particular laptop. And he was pretty pushy about selling the extended warranty. He didn't get the hint that I didn't want it. I ran to other clerks in different departments, and they were helpful and nice. At any rate, this is the number one store I would go to for making laptop or computer purchases.

If you need components in the Boston metro area there aren't a lot of choices. This is a smaller Micro Center compared to many of their locations in other states. As such, selection can be thin for some items, especially if you've ever been to a Fry's Electronics out west. Their sales prices are decent and stock availability on their website seems accurate.

If you try and return a defective device and they are out of stock in the store, Micro Center will refuse to send you a replacement. You can only do a return. Even if they are in stock at other locations, the customer is SOL. Manager told me directly "No, it costs us too much to ship." Glad to see how much customers are valued.

The service department is quite simply, the WORST. I'm pretty sure they hire incompetent people just to get you to buy new products instead of repairing them. I came in to figure out what was wrong with my Macbook (barely 3 years old) after it had randomly shut down and refused to reboot. I asked the guy if it was a problem with the logic board, and he told me that it wasn't. He said he could see that there was a spill on the keyboard (I have never gotten liquid on this laptop, I would remember), and when I asked him to run diagnostics anyways, he refused and said my money would be better spent on a new computer! Can you say SCAM?!!! I left and went to the Apple store instead, they ran diagnostics for FREE, and guess what? It was the logic board that was messed up. If you have an Apple product, save yourself the time AND money, and just go to Apple costumer service.

I'm honestly torn about this place.This place works for me when I need something quickly and don't want to wait for a delivery. In terms of pros you have: -Staff that are knowledgeable on products and most tech needs you may have. - return policy is fair - You can price match with other stores - You can reserve items online and pick them up/purchase them when it's convenient for you. Now we get to the cons: - Staff are hawks that prey on customers. They're here for the sales and bonus. If you look lost, they will descend on you. And if you ask for suggestions, they aren't crazy by selling you the most expensive thing, but they will sell you something unnecessary for your needs. - Everything is so disorganized. There are always clutters of things littered everywhere or on the wrong rack or hooks. No one really seems to care to clean things up. - Pricing is mediocre. If you don't price match, you're paying more. If you're decently tech savvy or have done research and your homework, this place is great. Just walk in, get your stuff, and walk out. But if you're looking for people to walk you through the process of making a new pc for your gaming, since you're new...better to stay away.

Pretty decent selection of computer parts and what not. First time I've ever been here and I went for store pickup. One thing I noticed is that the line for store pickup is also the same line for returns, which is pretty ridiculous. I waited about 15 minutes to pick up my order and the line was extremely long behind me, so others must've waited like 30 minutes. I'd suggest having a separate line for online/store pick up, we shouldn't have to wait for something that's already set aside with our name on it.

Don't go to the Apple store to fix your items; come here! This is the best customer service I have ever received from anywhere, not limited to tech stores. I may just be unlucky with Apple repairs, but every time I'm there, I end up having to fix a new problem (e.g. an entire issue with my T2 chip when I just came to fix my defect keyboard). In addition, what bothers me is that the Apple self-proclaimed "geniuses" never actually acknowledge my technical problems. Currently, a lot of Apple Macbooks are having what's called the "stage-light" issue, and I am certain that the "geniuses" at Apple would have nothing to say about my problems - either out of ignornace to the problem or because they were instructed by the higher-ups to not acknowledge the problem. The technician I met at the Micro Center was the complete opposite. I dropped off my laptop to the technician who would actually be doing my repairs (unlike Apple where you're never really talking with the "Wizards of Oz" technicians behind the Apple store). Every technical issue I brought up to him, he knew precisely the underlying problem. It was refreshing to talk with someone who actually works with your computer. I've been working one-on-one with him since; for example, the technician personally texted me when he said he was going to order a part from an Apple retailer. You can expect a prompt reply from the repair guys. When I came back to pick up the laptop (only ONE DAY later), I was also greeted by amazing customer service. They tried to make sure everything was okay for me before I left (started up the computer and asked me if everything looked alright). Plus, it seemed like they gave my keyboard a good cleaning, even though I came for a monitor issue. Later, the manager gave me a handshake and said, "I hope you had a good experience here." You bet I did. And you can bet Micro Center has a new, loyal customer. I can't gush enough about how great this place is. I've only gone to here for a repair, but I will most certainly come here for future equipment purchases too. I'm sold on the customer service and the business model the Micro Center has. When it comes to repairs, they're here to fix your problem, not sell you other stuff (something maybe big Apple does). And well, I guess I'll also come here for future purchases too now, since I can expect them to quickly resolve any issues, should there be any. I use to love microcenter, but now, I don't know, its ok if microcenter only focus on PC's and please do so if thats the case. BUT they also have isles of cables and adapters and what not. Everytime I go there, they don't have it, and the answer is always..."I never seen something like that, and if it exist, it probably cost alot". SOOOOOOO I guess you guys don't have it? All I am asking for a USB3 extension cord and yet, that was the answer I got. I ultimately had to order from Amazon. Micro Center has become another Best Buy where they go...."ooh yeah, thats a online only item, want use to order it for you?"

I do not go anywhere else for my electronic needs. This place, and the rest of the microcenter chain, is the most friendly, cost effective, and easy to shop in store. This location is no exception. Microcenter is essentially the Costco equivalent of an electronics store. They have the most modern and up to date stock from the most reputable brands in all categories. TVs, Monitors, Laptops or pre-built desktops, a huge selection of build your own pc parts, audio, gaming, everyday hardware, and so much more. They also have a great online store, and are extremely hospitable over the phone. Want to know if they have something before you go? Just give them a call, and they will help you out.

It is one of five stores in the greater Boston vicinity that I consider a go to for my Christmas shopping. Check out the register aisle and clearance specials in every department for some really great ideas

I don't usually give reviews. In fact, this is the first review that I have ever left for an establishment, but my experience was so out there that I just had to give my comments. I came in looking to upgrade my PC, which had parts that were pushing on two years of age now. While the variety and quantity of goods was amazing, my customer service experience was awful. I was greeted by a sales consultant, named Adam, who asked what I was looking for. I politely explained the parts I was searching for. As we began to look at motherboards, he proceeded to explain the pros and cons of each; however, after I asked what was wrong with one of the motherboards I was about to purchase, he exclaimed "Were you listening? Did you not just hear the words that came out of my mouth?". Apparently, he had discussed the cons already, but due to the fact that I have trouble hearing, I didn't catch what he was saying. The service department is quite simply, the WORST. I'm pretty sure they hire incompetent people just to get you to buy new products instead of repairing them. I came in to figure out what was wrong with my Macbook (barely 3 years old) after it had randomly shut down and refused to reboot. I asked the guy if it was a problem with the logic board, and he told me that it wasn't. He said he could see that there was a spill on the keyboard (I have never gotten liquid on this laptop, I would remember), and when I asked him to run diagnostics anyways, he refused and said my money would be better spent on a new computer! Can you say SCAM?!!! I left and went to the Apple store instead, they ran diagnostics for FREE, and guess what? It was the logic board that was messed up. If you have an Apple product, save yourself the time AND money, and just go to Apple costumer service.

I'm honestly torn about this place.This place works for me when I need something quickly and don't want to wait for a delivery. In terms of pros you have: -Staff that are knowledgeable on products and most tech needs you may have. - return policy is fair - You can price match with other stores - You can reserve items online and pick them up/purchase them when it's convenient for you. Now we get to the cons: - Staff are hawks that prey on customers. They're here for the sales and bonus. If you look lost, they will descend on you. And if you ask for suggestions, they aren't crazy by selling you the most expensive thing, but they will sell you something unnecessary for your needs. - Everything is so disorganized. There are always clutters of things littered everywhere or on the wrong rack or hooks. No one really seems to care to clean things up. - Pricing is mediocre. If you don't price match, you're paying more. If you're decently tech savvy or have done research and your homework, this place is great. Just walk in, get your stuff, and walk out. But if you're looking for people to walk you through the process of making a new pc for your gaming, since you're new...better to stay away.

Pretty decent selection of computer parts and what not. First time I've ever been here and I went for store pickup. One thing I noticed is that the line for store pickup is also the same line for returns, which is pretty ridiculous. I waited about 15 minutes to pick up my order and the line was extremely long behind me, so others must've waited like 30 minutes. I'd suggest having a separate line for online/store pick up, we shouldn't have to wait for something that's already set aside with our name on it.

Don't go to the Apple store to fix your items; come here! This is the best customer service I have ever received from anywhere, not limited to tech stores. I may just be unlucky with Apple repairs, but every time I'm there, I end up having to fix a new problem (e.g. an entire issue with my T2 chip when I just came to fix my defect keyboard). In addition, what bothers me is that the Apple self-proclaimed "geniuses" never actually acknowledge my technical problems. Currently, a lot of Apple Macbooks are having what's called the "stage-light" issue, and I am certain that the "geniuses" at Apple would have nothing to say about my problems - either out of ignornace to the problem or because they were instructed by the higher-ups to not acknowledge the problem. The technician I met at the Micro Center was the complete opposite. I dropped off my laptop to the technician who would actually be doing my repairs (unlike Apple where you're never really talking with the "Wizards of Oz" technicians behind the Apple store). Every technical issue I brought up to him, he knew precisely the underlying problem. It was refreshing to talk with someone who actually works with your computer. I've been working one-on-one with him since; for example, the technician personally texted me when he said he was going to order a part from an Apple retailer. You can expect a prompt reply from the repair guys. When I came back to pick up the laptop (only ONE DAY later), I was also greeted by amazing customer service. They tried to make sure everything was okay for me before I left (started up the computer and asked me if everything looked alright). Plus, it seemed like they gave my keyboard a good cleaning, even though I came for a monitor issue. Later, the manager gave me a handshake and said, "I hope you had a good experience here." You bet I did. And you can bet Micro Center has a new, loyal customer. I can't gush enough about how great this place is. I've only gone to here for a repair, but I will most certainly come here for future equipment purchases too. I'm sold on the customer service and the business model the Micro Center has. When it comes to repairs, they're here to fix your problem, not sell you other stuff (something maybe big Apple does). And well, I guess I'll also come here for future purchases too now, since I can expect them to quickly resolve any issues, should there be any. I use to love microcenter, but now, I don't know, its ok if microcenter only focus on PC's and please do so if thats the case. BUT they also have isles of cables and adapters and what not. I do not go anywhere else for my electronic needs. This place, and the rest of the microcenter chain, is the most friendly, cost effective, and easy to shop in store. This location is no exception. Microcenter is essentially the Costco equivalent of an electronics store. They have the most modern and up to date stock from the most reputable brands in all categories. TVs, Monitors, Laptops or pre-built desktops, a huge selection of build your own pc parts, audio, gaming, everyday hardware, and so much more. They also have a great online store, and are extremely hospitable over the phone. Want to know if they have something before you go? Just give them a call, and they will help you out.

It has a great staff of knowledgeable individuals and has just enough of the entertainment side of the computer industry to make it valuable to even the most modest PC user. It is one of five stores in the greater Boston vicinity that I consider a go to for my Christmas shopping. I came in looking to upgrade my PC, which had parts that were pushing on two years of age now. While the variety and quantity of goods was amazing, my customer service experience was awful. I was greeted by a sales consultant, named Adam, who asked what I was looking for. I politely explained the parts I was searching for. As we began to look at motherboards, he proceeded to explain the pros and cons of each; however, after I asked what was wrong with one of the motherboards I was about to purchase, he exclaimed "Were you listening? Did you not just hear the words that came out of my mouth?". Apparently, he had discussed the cons already, but due to the fact that I have trouble hearing, I didn't catch what he was saying. I came in a few weeks ago looking for Raspberry Pi components. I have to agree with one of the other reviews that I felt ignored. I was in the same section for a good amount of time looking around and not once did anyone come up to ask me whether I needed help. This is despite the fact that there were two sales associates constantly chatting with each other just a few feet away. After having to ask one of them to check the price on a product since it wasn't marked anywhere, they insisted on putting a sticker with their name on it as if they had helped me find it in the first place. However, I can forgive all of that for the most part. What truly made me angry were the repair services. I brought in an Intel CPU that had some of the motherboard's pins partially melted onto its pads and wanted to know whether it was salvageable. Mind you, I specifically came to Micro Center as I felt that this was one of the few places around Boston that could help me with this. The employee that I spoke to (a larger Asian guy with glasses) clearly sounded like he didn't want to be there and knew nothing whatsoever about computers. He first asked me what model the CPU was, as if that was at all relevant to my question. Afterwards, the only other thing he told me was that they could "run diagnostic tests" on it for $40. Absolutely genius—he asked me to pay money to have my CPU fried for good when I could just as well do that myself. This again proves that he wasn't even listening to what I said. I would also like to mention that he did the very same thing (i.e. attempted to upsell the $40 diagnostics package) to the two people in front of me instead of doing any basic thinking or work. While I can appreciate that they have a decent selection and competitive prices compared to online stores, I will not be coming back here unless it is absolutely necessary.

Then best of all he said they could dispose of my old dysfunctional non functioning laptop cord for me- so I took a picture of the information I needed to do a web search and happily handed it over for safe disposal! I'm totally making the trek back across the river for computer related stuff, or even phone, printer, TV (if they do it) stuff! Forget Best Buy!

I bought their powerspec (microcenter for desktop). The sound card was defective on first day of booting up. I tried multiple things such as install new drivers, test with different outputs ie speakers, headphones, monitors with speakers, and adjust settings on sound through control panel. All of which did not help. They gave me a hard time of exchanging the item. Will not shop here again

I bought a laptop here about a year ago. I have warranty and about 1 or 2 months ago I started having trouble with my laptop. Micro center was very helpful when I brought it in and had me squared away in a few days. However, they apparently didn't get to the root of the problem and it happened several times in the last month since I got it fixed. We will see if they find the root of the issue, but they have been very helpful. Update: I have just received my laptop after the second time that they were attempting to fix it. They replaced a couple parts and it seems to be working better. As I was leaving they tried to charge me $39.99 even though I had full warranty on it. It wasn't until I questioned them about it that they went to the back and started asking around. They came out soon and retracted my payment. As I said before, the workers were very friendly, but for some reason something seems to go wrong whenever I go there. The costumer service is excellent, but you need to be on your toes to make sure something is not happening that shouldn't. Update:I took my laptop in the third time with the same issue. I made sure to talk to the employee who worked on it the last time (Wayland) and he was extremely helpful. He said that he would finally get me a new device since that was part of the warranty I had gotten. He got me squared away quickly and was extremely helpful answering all my questions. The customer service I experienced here was outstanding ever time.

My laptop fell and broke pretty badly on the street and even got water damage a couple of weeks ago. As usual I tried to make an appointment with the Apple store in Boylston st and they were completely booked for like 6 days or so. I went online and Micro Center was listed as one fo the places that accepts Apple Care. I made an appointment for that very same day. I got to micro center and the manager from the repair section was absolutely wonderful. He assured me that my laptop was going to be returned to me as soon as possible (this being super important to me since I am a student and need it for classes). I was told the laptop was going to be fixed and returned in 7-10 business days due to the extensive damage. I swear that they called me about 3 business days later and told me that my laptop was ready for pickup. When I saw it it looked brand new. All the scratches and bumps gone, they even fixed the keyboard and the screen looked like new. I even thought that they had given me a new laptop but after inspecting it, the serial number was the same as mine. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!

Great selection of electronics. I don't know where else I would go to buy high end PC parts in person. They have pretty good sales and a great price match program. They offer a lot of perks which is why I would love to give them 4 or 5 starts but I have to say that their floor associates are terrible. This is the only Micro Center I've ever been to but it's either someone more experienced who always seems to be busy and isn't available to help or it's someone who is new who is way too pushy about asking if you need help. The WORST is when I go and find everything at Micro Center by myself and then get bombarded with employees on my way to the checkout line because they want to put their little employee sticker onto the items in my cart so they get credit for the sale/commission. I do get a great sense of satisfaction when I say "No", so there's that. Once I ordered a monitor that was on sale so I could pick it up at the store without having to spend too much time. Got there, item wasn't pulled. Floor associates couldn't find the item. Someone found a similar item and tried to send me on my way with it but I pointed out that the serial number was different - had to get a manager involved who was able to find the right item and resolve the issue but I shouldn't have to watch the whole process like a hawk to make sure I'm not being screwed...and a quick 15 min pick up at store transaction shouldn't take an hour...

Unfortunately I cannot give minus 5 stars (-5) which they deserve! I will NEVER shop at Micro Center again! I had trouble paying with a bank check apparently it did not have enough details on it. These were temporary checks I received from my bank while waiting for new checks. I went back a few days later, this time with cash in hand; small bills ($20 or less) had just got from the bank. I happened to get the same teller who I had issues with a few days back. He proceeded to process my items which was approximately $200. He then took the money and used the cash marker to test if it was real cash. His explanation was that "It was a lot of cash"!!!!! I got my merchandise left and spoke to one of the managers who said that checking of money notes was done for large bills ($100 or $50)! I subsequently returned my items. I will be returning the monitor I bought a few days ago as well and will NEVER GO back! Apparently Black people have to pay with coins because we either rob banks or make counterfeit money! Keep your store! I am sick and tired of this stereotype nonsense and will be doing something about this. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone. The individual was a young Asian by the name of Alan. I totally wasted three hours of my time just get insulted by this jerk who thinks lying about store policy can hide his prejudice! This microcenter is more than an hour away from me, yet i shop here about once a month. That is how excellent this store is! Its probably going to take a while to list all of the reasons i will never buy pc hardware anywhere else again, so here goes! -Competitive pricing! Their prices are always at least in range of other major retailers like best buy, newegg, and amazon. it varies from day to day and product to product a bit. sometimes microcenter is cheaper, sometimes its a bit more. however, since they are so great with price matching, savvy shoppers will always get the best price here! -Knowledgeable and friendly staff on site! I am personally a pretty experienced builder, so for me it's nice talking to staff who actually understand what i am looking for and can even occasionally make a smart recommendation as well. For new builders, this is even better. You absolutely can just lean on the sales reps to help you put a good pc together at the price you want with the features and performance you want and know they will send you out with the right parts for a great first build. Their technical support staff is also on site and have been great with processing returns quickly and efficiently. which brings me to my next point -Fantastic tech support/warranty support! I have built a few pcs for friends at this point with parts from here, and have purchased their replacement warranty on all of the major components each time. This paid off when we had the misfortune of getting a bad gpu, as the replacement was absolutely painless. Not only did we get it replaced immediately over the counter, we were able to choose a different model since our confidence was shaken in the other brand, and actually got a few bucks back in refund! Not only that, but we were able to return a still functional mother board that wasnt properly supporting a r7 3700x despite the manufacturer site listing support on that board and use the money back to swap to a x570 board. Their warranty makes me feel safer as a consumer than any other company i have dealt with. I absolutely recommend it! On top of all of this, the tech support staff is super knowledgeable! I was able to explain the issue to them very briefly both times and they knew exactly what i meant and helped me resolve the issue. Based on that, I am confident they could help a less experienced user troubleshoot any issues they may have with hardware purchased there. Very well organized store! Despite having an overwhelming amount of choices for just about every piece of hardware, peripheral, adapter, fitting, etc imaginable, the store layout is very smart and makes it easy to find what you need pretty easily if you know what you are looking for. Of course, if all the staff isnt busy helping other customers, you can usually count on somebody coming up to help you get everything together as well. -Buy and build your pc in one day! Perhaps the best part of the microcenter experience is it only taking a single day to get your new pc together. Personally, the anticipation of waiting for parts to arrive kills me, and doing it all in one day that i can be actively involved in is far preferable to me. All together, these things make the one hour plus drive a no brainer to me. If there was any con i could list, it would be that there isnt a microcenter in every city like Best Buy! I would love a providence or Bald Hill Road location, but until then, this is my only stop for computer hardware!

If you want to build your own pc, they carry all the parts you will ever need to create the ultimate PC. They also carry a great selection of printers. What more can I say, they have everything. I wouldn't say they specialize in smart phones, but they probably will have what you are looking for in that department too. Clearly the best computer store that exists if you must see and touch and sometimes operate the device before you buy it. (Especially laptops).

If you want to build your own pc, they carry all the parts you will ever need to create the ultimate PC. They also carry a great selection of printers. What more can I say, they have everything. I wouldn't say they specialize in smart phones, but they probably will have what you are looking for in that department too. Clearly the best computer store that exists if you must see and touch and sometimes operate the device before you buy it. (Especially laptops).

Odd location but worth the trip. Visiting Microcenter always makes Best Buy feel like a fake electronics store. It's like a brick & mortar store for all the weird electronics miscellany you usually browse on Amazon. Staff is generally friendly, competent, and knowledge at this location too.
