Absolutely amazing work and generosity. They helped repair and donate computers to families in need. Super fast service and awesome staff, thanks so much!

I will not recommend it if you are in a rush. They took more than a week to repair my computer and they did not called me back with any updates. Although they were able to repair the computer at the end. The repair only lasted for a few months. Definitely not recommended.

Tom Rago

well the employees change like the weather, way over priced on old used parts

Came in with a laptop stuck in boot loop. Staff were knowledgeable, polite and prompt about updating me. Turned out the hard drive was failing - the staff had good repair suggestions and were able to help me compare prices on the spot. Took about 2 weeks, start to finish - brought it in on Saturday, received update with information and diagnostics on Tuesday. I decided on a course of action on Friday, they ordered a new solid state hybrid drive which arrived the following Tuesday evening, and it was ready for collection by the next day. Data on the old hard drive couldn't be recovered without recovery techniques which would have run up to $500. I decided it wasn't worth it since I back up all my important data anyway. I'm happy enough with my new SSHD and all the software is in perfect working condition. 5/5. Thank you!

Stopped in to get an estimate for a check up on my laptop. Employee gave me a reasonable price.. took it in and had it back to me in 30 mins. Works much faster now. Also has a nice selection of laptops.

Place is a joke still. 60 bucks for a stick of open 4GB sodimm RAM. Was able to go online and get the same stick for 24.

Worse experience ever! DO NOT BUY HERE. I bought 2 GB RAM DDR2. Price was too high for a chip of RAM that was used, sitting in a box with other computer parts unsealed, and the sales person needed my help to find it. When I asked him if it will work he responded that if it doesn't than bring it back and I will find an other one. Cause I had to be at a client with work matter I took the RAM for $42 with tax and left. When I finished work I wasn't sure that I want to use the RAM that I got from this store. Cause living in Columbia I have to drive all the way here to return it, when the sales person looked to me sure that it will happen, so I took the RAM back on my way home to return it. Guess what, no returns tells me the same guy when I didn't even open it and on the receipt it says that it can be returned or exchange in 14 days. Well than he said that he will charge me a %20 restocking fee. To the end he refunded only $40. I wasted my time and $2 for a bad customer service and no product. Than went to Microcenter in Towson and got a brand new chip of RAM 2GB DDR2 stick for $15.99 and had a great customer service. I am always looking and buying stuff from small retailers to help them out but THESE GUYS are TOO GREEDY !!! Do not recommend them at all!!! His name was John ...

Marcel Martin

Cliff is really knowledgeable and professional. He gives his honest opinion.

Excellent staff.

Owner routinely lies to customers and vendors.

Sheila Stackhouse

These folks are the nicest most helpful and HONEST people I have met in a long time...especially since relocating to Maryland. Gave an honest estimate when my broken laptop was too expensive to repair. Supplied a free replacement power cord when one I purchased a month earlier turned out to be defective. Will always use and recommend them. Thanks guys!

Rolando Carey

Good prices, staff very friendly and helpful. They do have some pretty good deals.

Phill Yum

Excellent company, some awesome deals. Customer service was perfect. Would recommend and will return when I can.

Dean Mires

Nice for a small computer shop... has good selection of both custom computers and parts. They do repair work there as well.

Dave Watson

Had the part I needed, at the price I was looking to pay on a Sunday!

Daniel Jackson Frost

Brought my surface in because it was not allowing me to use Skype. They said it was a lack of room memory wise so I cleared it in the store and it still kept doing the same thing. They said we don't know, try to factory reset it took my $30 and sent me on my way. I fixed it myself at home no thanks to them. Very nice guys but at least when it comes to Windows Surface obviously have no experience fixing them. Maybe they are better with PCs macs and tablets but they didn't help me at all and took my money. Never returning

Chris Smiith

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!!!!DO NOT GO HERE. WENT IN TRADED IN FOUR TOWERS, THEY GAVE ME FIVE BUCKS STORE CREDIT. BOUGHT AN ITEM FOR A SPECIFIC TASK, THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG ITEM. WENT BACK FOR AN EXCHANGE AND THEY OVERCHARGED ME FIVE DOLLARS. WENT BACK AND THEY STILL DIDNT WANT TO GIVE ME MY FIVE BUCKS. THREE TRIPS OVER FIVE BUCKS. COST ME FIFTEEN IN GAS. AND STILL DIDNT GET MY FIVE BUCKS BACK.

Recommended 5 star for great service

I love these guys. Very helpful. They don't try to sell you something expensive the sell you what you ask for. I was there for maybe 10 mins today, got an awesome laptop under $200 that was exactly what i wanted. Set it up at home and had it rockin in just a few mins. :)

After going through 4 different computer places all saying the same thing that my data could not be recovered. That meant all of my family photos and videos would be trashed along with my hard drive. The computer was only 7 months old top of line not junk who would expect this to happen and I did not back up any of my data. A hard lesson learned here. I saw Compu Computers on Craigslist about a 25 mile trip from my house. At first I told them NO and then I decided what the heck. The boss took it on himself to scan my hard drive and got one of the guys to call me and said he thought he could get all of my data back for me. After giving me the best price in town 2 days later I had ALL of my data back~ family photos and videos. I am really happy with Compu Computers. I will recommended them to ALL of my friends and relatives! Thanks once again guys for a job well done. Dan Praydis

This is absolutely the worst repair shop I have ever been to I dropped off two laptops to get repaired they tried to hit me with the astronomical price of something like $800 to fix a four year old laptop wish I knew how much the parts cost it was just one part it's always something extra with them an extra charge there are rip off and after my laptop's both of them being in there for more than 30 days they said They confiscated them when I called to pick them up. Because I took longer than 30 days to pick it up I bring them to laptop to get repaired and they take them when I can't pay the $50 diagnostic fee right off hand, because I was in the middle of jobs, and I told them that, worst experience I've never wrote a comment on anything on the web this is the first review that I've ever done but they pissed me off bad enough to where I had too, and it's also funny how I seen bad comments and reviews from other people and now they're all suddenly gone. The Ratings here are Rigged.

I will never take my laptop anywhere else! they were fast, professional, and significantly less than the initial fee for Geek Squad.

Mikeshakez

It's ok since sometimes they have stuff you can normally only order online like Motherboards but overall only 1 staff person knows much about hardware and everything there is normally used and tossed around the shelves.

Beth Elliott

Awesome business...friendly greeting when you walk in..very knowledgable staff that help get a computer that meets or exceeds your needs.

As a very dedicated PC gamer with multiple diverse machines that require upkeep and occasional repairs, I throw full trust and support to these guys. I've given my business to COMPU nearly a dozen times through the last 4 years and I've not once had them tell me that I have an issue they can't solve. They've done everything from simple screen replacement, to deep virus removal/systems repair, to doing complete custom PC builds. The staff are professional and knowledgeable, the service is affordable, and they call you periodically to give you service updates. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I brought my laptop computer into this business in March. I paid the repair fee, and when they told me that I needed to get the screen replaced, I paid for that as well even though it cost more than a screen replacement normally would have. However, when I picked it up I discovered that there was debris inside the screen. They thought that it must have been introduced when the screen was replaced and, after I brought it back a second time, they cleaned it for no extra charge. However, when I picked it up I noticed that there was still debris under the screen which I pointed out to them at the time. The employee in the store saw it and agreed with me that that was the case and that it needed to be resolved. However I had already waited quite some time to get my laptop back which I needed for work and indicated that I could not leave it that day. Later I discovered that the computer was actually not properly assembled and there was a huge opening in the top which is presumably where the dust was getting in. I called about this in early April and talked to someone on the phone. They looked up my case by name. They did not mention that I was very close to the end of the warranty period. I did not have the extended length of time that I could be without this computer that I use on a nearly daily basis for work until now. Even though this is a problem that was caused by mistakes made in their own repair process, they were never able to resolve it with urgency or prioritize it. So I had to wait until I had at least a week available for them to take it. But when I brought it in, they said that it had been too long since I had originally brought it in and that they would not even give me a discount on the repair. Even though they caused it and acknowledged as much not only well within the warranty period but the day I picked it up, before I even brought it home. Their work is inferior and their word is unreliable.

Edit: so it turns out it wasnt even my motherboard. I just bought a brand new direct replacement mobo and the exact same problem. I paid $50 for them to do nothing and ended up costing me an additional $200 that I hopefully will be able to get back. I just got off the phone with the tech who basically told me I have to wait to contact the owner who doesn't have any set schedule of when I can reach him and that "we've also seen brand new motherboards that don't work". I'll give it till monday for the owner to get back to me before I write this place off as a total scam, but I don't have high hopes. Avoid this place. Really not sure how to feel about my experience with this store. Over the weekend I dried something in my computer, the computer I built 5 years ago. I was pretty confident my motherboard had failed, how ever I wasn't sure if the mobo had damaged any other components in the system. This being a gaming rig has some fairly pricey parts in it, but like I said it's 5 years old so I'm torn between cutting my losses and upgrading to a newer mobo/ cpu or if it was just a single part I might just replace that. Being short on time, I decided to have a 3rd party figure out exactly what was failed on the system, but most importantly verify that all my other components were OK. They simply plugged a new power supply in to rule out my PS, plugged in a new video card to rule out my GPU and the same with the RAM. Great, so you verified my suspicion. Now what about my other parts? I get that the mobo isn't giving them any signal, but that doesn't mean that they still work either... I kind of need to know now before i start ordering parts where I stand in this, and now I'm taking a gamble assuming that all my components are OK. I realize individually testing the mobo and CPU require another mobo and CPU with the same socket which they might not have, not a huge problem. How ever I stressed to them that the video card specifically was only a few months old and it's very important for me to know now that it's OK or damaged. They did not test it at all. Basically I hired them to check all my parts and tell me what is damaged. They figured out the root of the problem, so they didn't do nothing... but I just paid $50 for someone to do 15 minutes of plugging in different parts to basically told me what I already knew. Now I'm spending the time I really don't have to take apart another computer of mine so I can swap in parts from my broken PC just to verify 100% that they indeed still work, which is what I was supposed to be paying them to do for me. For me personally, huge waste of time and money dealing with compu. Would have been better off just doing it myself.

This is my number 1 place to take my computer for updates and repairs. Prompt service and staff who are very helpful. Come and check them out

noneofya bidness

they spam the craigslist computer services section all the time with multiple spam posts, which is very annoying. if they are computer geeks they need to stop the spam. they should know better.

Dependable excellent service is always found at Compu. I have done business with them for several years, having purchased three computers during this time.

Excellent staff... was able to walk in and get an issue with my laptop repaired while I waited. Would recommend.

For the convenience of it, the local-ness of, and yes the effectiveness of it, I give them 5 stars. I've dealt with this store 3 times so far and its been good all three times. I've had repair work done and I've bought a used PC from them (the used PC was bought 2 years ago and I'm writing this review on it).

Heather Doherty

Very friendly and honest with me. Not looking to rip anyone off. I'll definitely go back and I'm thankful it's there instead of having to go to Apple!!

Tani Arcean

Very helpful staff. Mr. Clifton assisted me, and was very honest and amiable. Solid evidence that larger stores aren't always better.

kristy simmons

Unrealist buy back offered and purchase prices are outrageous.

John Cardoza

purchased my second laptop from them. the place seemed little understaffed but was worth the wait.

All we had to do was explain the problem and were given an instant solution

Seriously, unless you want your computer in a more crappy condition than when you brought it to them, don't pay for their service. I can't begin to describe how many issues ive had with my laptop after i brought it to them for a simply hard drive swap. and they charge wayyyyyyyy to much. screw this place

Jan Branch

I was totally happy with my new hardrive.

They helped me figure out why my computer was overheating. The staff there are pretty cool, and most of them genuinely want to help, and give advice. But do not order parts from them. Order it yourself or go to best buy. After charging me $90 for labor, they ordered me a $100 cooling fan. Come to find out they ordered me the $60 version and charged me for the $100. Game me a lame excuse about how that's what their stock is at right now. At the end of the day, it was my fault for not checking first.

One word: Run!!!! I bought an overpriced charger there and within 2 months the charger broke when I go back to tell them it was defective i was told the warranty is over that i needed to buy another one which I think might break down again. I ask for a manager and was told he would say the same thing but i insisted so i was told no phone number i just wait around and he will come when he comes to fixed time. I waited around for 30 mins and left. Never again i would buy anything from there.

Dee Turgeman

The best place for getting computer help..they are friendly and reasonable

Very quick in repairing my laptop. Also staff is friendly.

DO NOT BUY A PC OR A LAPTOP OR ANYTHING ELSE FROM THE STORE OR COMPANY!!!!!!!!!! I bought a laptop the last week of August paid almost $200.00 for it and it burnt out on me after having it about 3 months. When I took the thing back to sell it they offered me $10.00 for it, the guy who sold me the laptop was there and he couldn't even look me in the face when I came in to return it. If you need to buy a PC or Laptop you would be better off buying brand new at price very close to what they charge for used equipment. Then the sales person had the nerve to tell me this is a common issue those laptops have and this was the dude who sold me the dadgum thing. THIS PLACE SUCKS!!! DON'T DO IT! BUYER BEWARE!!!

Cheryl Schmidt

This is the absolute WORST place to go for a computer repair! NEVER support this establishment. They are rude thieves who break computers and then refuse to compensate you for their faulty actions. I only needed a simple fan replacement and this place completely destroyed my $1500 laptop! I paid $175 initially to have the repair performed. After holding it in the shop for almost a month without even calling me for an update, I realized that I had to start being persistent and keep calling them to make any sort of progress or get any information on the current status. Initially, they tried to pass it off to me as fixed, but I noticed that my perfect laptop that had never had any prior issues was now not charging or holding a charge. I politely requested that they reinspect it because it never had any prior problems prior to me dropping it off. It took a while to convince them, but they finally agreed after saying that there may be additional charges involved. Poor customer service from day one. Both times I dropped it off, I stressed how important it was to me. I said that I was a college student, so that laptop was my life and to please take good care of it. I also have documentation showing that my data should have been backed up. Yet again they held onto my computer for weeks without a single phone call even though the contract said I would get phone updates regularly. I continued to inquire until they said that the computer was broken and that all of my data was gone. That meant homework assignments and several years worth of photos of myself and several relatives who have since passed away. I was devastated. The worst part was that this was a nice 1 TB laptop that I was very careful with and never even had a scratch on, yet they handed me my computer all scratched up and in pieces. I was way nicer than I should have been throughout the entire encounter with Compu in Glen Burnie, and yet I was constantly lied to and bullied. I asked to speak to the owner and they said that there was no way to contact him, which I know was a lie because I used to be a supervisor and knew that you always have to be able to contact the employees above you. I was so frustrated and upset over the ordeal that I just cried and actually made myself physically ill from the stress. My brother-in-law who works in the computer business was kind enough to advise me to request a refund and repair because based on his years of experience in the field, there was no way for a fan repair to result in data loss and the extent of damage that my computer suffered. Every time I showed up, they looked annoyed and would lie to my face and say that I broke the computer when they had the computer in their possession when it broke. They fried the hard drive, killed the motherboard, broke the web cam, scratched the exterior, and it no longer could charge. Then they refused to pay for it or help me in any way. The owner eventually was contacted by staff and refused service when this computer never had any prior issues or repairs, yet supposedly multiple components just died at the same time while in their shop. I don’t appreciate being blatantly lied to and I had to pay for an expensive fan repair on a computer that I now can’t even turn on. It is completely useless since they worked on it. Do NOT EVER trust this establishment. They are crooked scammers who steal your money and break your property, then blame you for the poor outcome. Cliff, Mike, and Jason need to review their morals because that is not how you should ever treat a fellow human being. Please DO NOT support this business. Thank you for reading this review and I hope you will listen.

I came in with 2 laptops that need work. 1 needs cleaned. The sign in the window says quotes are $30 But the guy working said it's $50 and waived if I get the work done. I pause bc now I feel like I may get swindled into a $500 repair if I let them quote or def out $50.... But what he said didn't match the sign. The other computer needs a screen replacement which may be $100 less then a new 2 in 1 at best buy.... So between us... we could get a new comp. He made no effort to retain our service either. Disappointing. Money hungry. Wish it were better.

Trevor Boothby

Walked into the Glen burnie store then the staff (Mike and the obese woman working) acted as if it was a chore to help me at all. I asked 2 questions in the duration of 15 minutes and you would have thought I asked the world of them. I had cash in hand and thought I was going to leave with a laptop, but the staff was so rude, I asked if they had the power cord for the computer I was interested in, annoyed with me asking, turned out they didn't. I decided to take my business elsewhere. The annapolis stores staff was much more friendly and helpful. So I'm only speaking of the glen burnie location.

Tj Laniyonu

Terrible place to get your computer fixed you have employees who don't know what there talking about and they hold your computer for a long time not giving you any updates on how your computers doing. I had to call in 3 times to see if they even opened up my computer after a week of holding my computer with no updates at all.And you have them not knowing there own prices charging you ridiculous prices for a cheap fix.If your either trying to get your computer fixed on the fly or for a good price this not the place you would go to at all.

curtis aguinaga

I used to work here and I can tell you the most accurate description about this business. Pros. It's affordable and their repair service is second to none imo. They don't charge you by the hour like most places, they charge a flat rate of 89 dollars, and if necessary charge for replacement parts. Now if I'm correct it's been a while since I have worked there. But diagnostics is free for your computer, make sure you call before going in assuming this btw. The staff is honest and professional and will do their best to help you. For almost any computer breakdown or need. They have the tools on hand to fix it. The only exception might be parts, but I will get to that in a second. They usually get back to you relatively quickly. And you have options for rush service I believe if you are in a pinch. Cons. Keep in mind this is a small mom and pop like computer store. So that means they won't always have the parts you need on hand or the best quality for that matter. Many laptops and computers they sell are refurbished machines, so it's risky buying their machines. Sometimes you might get lucky and come across a new machine. But that is seldom, and most of the time the owner wants to sell refurbished machines. Sometimes as I said the store doesn't have the parts, and I have personally witnessed while I worked there. Them ordering parts off of eBay. But in their defense again it's a small store, not much room or money to get the best newest parts. So give them a pass on that. Overall I recommend this store to basically anyone who needs a good computer repair service, it's good fair prices. And fairly reasonable repair times with rush service options. Just remember to keep you eyes peeled and your wits about you when buying computers or parts from them. They aren't trying to screw you, or trying to be dishonest. They just usually don't have the new parts on hand. Definitely a good store overall though, I got a blue custom built gaming desktop from them and have had it since. Great store and great repair services.

Quick service but brought a pc a few months back around the weekend of july 14th or 21st 2017, an optiplex 390 dell desktop, it is now october the 7th 2017 and pc is down. The beeps indicate internal battery or heatsink thermal paste failure, 7/10 would/will return to do business
