Cheaper Than A Geek really went the extra mile for us. Our processing system was already terrible and we then contracted a virus online, making the computer inoperable. They removed the virus, and put a newer and more updated version of Windows on our PC for free, replacing our problematic processor. We now enjoy using our computer free of error messages and slow speeds. They saved us from having to buy a new computer. Not only were they effective, they called and explained everything to me in language I could understand. I would go to them again, hands down, with my computer woes should they come up in the future. Twice Chris and the gang saved me. My business is on my computer and without it, I'm dead in the water. The first time they installed a new hard drive and got the version of the MS OS I wanted on the computer and had all my files ready to go. Cheaper Than A Geek always provides me the best IT support at all hours of the day and night. It’s hard to find a good apple-friendly tech company that truly knows the ins and outs of all of the products. They use a convenient program that allows their techs to temporarily share access (after I give them the password and permission) to my computer so I don’t even need to leave my office when a problem comes up! Typically, they are able to resolve my problems using this method, but when there’s a more intricate issue, they always make my problems a priority and meet one to one with me and are only focused on my devices and issues. This is a very nice feature because before using Cheaper Than A Geek, I would go to the Apple Store and their “geniuses” would always be distracted with other customers and their various problems. Whenever I call, I am always greeted by a real person who is then able to transfer me to a tech that can help, or I’m provided a timeline on when to expect a call back that day (usually within the hour). Their pricing is competitive and their customer service is excellent. They are committed to excellence and never turn a problem away. I had a rather bizarre issue with Gmail - in fact, no one had ever heard of the problem I was having – and the techs at Cheaper Than A Geek never gave up! They were able to research my problem on their end and came back to me just a few short days later and fixed it! I was so impressed that they were my advocate and determined to get things working. Cheaper Than A Geek is a company that I highly recommend for any technology issues that you may have, or even if you want to purchase new tech products. I plan to continue working with this company for all of my technology needs.

Shady Business Practices I was in the middle of an interstate move when my laptop decided to die. I had just upgraded the RAM a week before and installed a new SSD about 6 months prior so I wasn't worried about those things. With the limited resources I had with me during the move I did some diagnostics and it looked like a motherboard issue but I figured having recently put some money into upgrades I would take it somewhere and if they could fix it great, if not they could at least confirm what I was thinking and save me the hassle of doing the data transfer in the middle of the rest of the chaos. WRONG! Not only do they charge an arm and a leg for their services, but Cheaper than a Geek took about 2 weeks just to confirm that my motherboard was dead. Even with that, I was still going to pay their exorbitant almost 300 bucks just to get my data and be done with it when the guy asks me if he can keep the freaking laptop and tells me he won't even charge me for keeping it. Now, I have no idea if this is a common practice in MD or not since I normally build my own computers and do my own IT. But since I had told them from the start that I had just put $250 of new RAM in it, I was pretty incensed that they would even ask if they could scrap it for parts that they're obviously going to resell to their own customers, and act like they're doing me some kind of a favor by not charging me a "recycling fee." Around this time I started asking how much it would cost to just get it back immediately and they started ignoring my emails. It was 2:30pm. They stopped responding to my emails. I kept sending them until I sent one that was actually well after business hours explaining that if they ignored me and did the data transfer I wasn't going to pay for it, I just wanted my stuff back because they were obviously trying to rip me off. This is when they finally responded to all of my messages, very unprofessionally. Claiming they were just trying to offer the "greenest" option (for their pockets). All of the sudden I no longer just had a motherboard issue but also a hard drive issue, and my hard drive was "acting up" (it's a SSD, they can only fail in so many ways, they would not be able to recover my data if it had failed) and only THEY could recover it not me. Oh and they were closed the whole time I was emailing them from 2:30 on despite having replied consistently right up to the point of me starting to ask for my stuff back and not wanting to pay them more and more money. I told them I still wanted my stuff back and for them to not do anything further, they took 2 more days to "reassemble" my laptop. Seriously, this is something that takes a normal person 10 minutes. Finally, they call me and say the laptop is ready, and that they will drop it off at the UPS store in town, but first they want me to give them my credit card number over the phone BEFORE they drop it off. YES THEY WANT MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER WITHOUT MY COMPUTER IN MY HAND. Complete effing scam. I refused and they made me wait another day, set an appointment, and drive to their office to pick it up and pay. I paid in cash because I wouldn't trust these idiots with my credit card information or anything else. Oh and by the way. I took my hard drive home, hooked it up, and it's perfectly fine. I transferred all of the data, reformatted it, and am currently using it as a spare external drive until I get a new laptop to stick it in. Because it wasn't "acting up" there were no corrupted files or any other issues. That was a COMPLETE lie to try and get more money out of me for data transfer services. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
