Update: Bumping this up to 4 stars because they finally fixed some of the issues and they did try to help me to the best of their ability for 4 of my 6 visits to the store. Still not giving 5 stars because it took 6 visits and 4.5 months to figure this out. Additionally, I'm not convinced that they knowingly solved the issue, seems more like they just kept trying things until something worked and during the last visit the tech speculated that if these software fixes don't last then there could also hardware issue but said that at this point my phone is no longer under warranty, which is annoying because this should have all been sorted out ages ago. _______ I went in to fix an ongoing issue with my less than one-year-old phone and they offered to replace my phone because they thought it was a hardware issue, which I really appreciated. However, data from my old phone was lost because they didn't wait for the iCloud backup to finish before they started setting up the new phone. It took 3 visits in as many days, a phone call (with a very condescending guy), and then another visit two weeks later for them to figure out that this was the issue. I did not get any sort of apology for the error on their part that caused the lost data. Additionally, I switched cell phone carriers the day before before my last visit and then during that visit the tech repeatedly dismissed a Carrier Settings update that kept popping up without asking me if it was okay. I've never received any other prompts for this update so I haven't been able to update my carrier settings and am now having cell service issues. I would not recommend this store because they caused my original missing data issue and it took them way too long to figure out what happened, and also because I waited half an hour for my first visit despite arriving on time for a scheduled appointment. I will give them two stars because they did replace my old phone and did really try to solve the missing data issue. The customer service is very hit or miss, some of their techs are very nice and helpful while others are dismissive and condescending. This review is probably a moot point though since this is the only Apple store in the entire state so it's not like we have any other options.

I had a major issue with my laptop the night before trial. I brought it into Apple in South Portland and they diagnosed it as having a bad hard drive issue. Unfortunately, having them send out my computer to have the HD swapped wasn't going to help me for my trial the next morning. The store manager was super. He swapped out my computer with a brand new computer b/c he understood the serious bind I was in for trial. He did NOT have to do that and I am deeply appreciative for his willingness to go the extra mile. Apple customer service is the best in the industry and is why they have such a loyal following.

Terrible, worse than terrible, the rep that I talk to was not interested in talking to me at all, could not answer my questions, he was more interested in what was on his I pad. When I asked what I needed to do to buy a Ipad he said I would have to wait 35 minutes. Wait 35 minutes to spend $750!! If I hadn't had Apple gift cards I would of gone to Best Buy. If I ran my business like that I would be out of business. So I purchased one online much easier.

Service is terrible. Employees are not motivated people. I walked in to have some questions answered about the 2017 27' iMac. I asked for assistance. I was told all of the... idk...18 associates were busy and I'd need to be placed in a "queue". So while I was standing there like an idiot, waiting literally 10 minutes to find out what video card the base model iMac 27 came with, I got to hear the associate "helping" the customer next to me. He apparently has his degree in education, and LOVES working in the special education department... good. The gentleman at the front of the store didn't seem interested in making eye contact with anyone because he didn't look up from his iPad the entire time. But he had cool hair, so at least he had the look down. Needless to say, I used their iMac to answer my questions online. I then walked out, went to Best Buy, and bought a $2000.00 iMac. The entire sale took less time than I spent waiting to have a question answered. Could you imagine walking into a car dealership, looking to buy, and not being helped? I find it completely absurd that a customer walking into a store doesn't motivate commission-based employees to stop chatting, and answer a question about their products. I hate to sound like a middle-aged mom ranting online, but this is crazy. I walked into a store WANTING to be sold something and wasn't even spoken to. If I didn't love my current job I would apply here. I would take literally ALL of the sales commission. If you're looking to make bank and out-perform your peers apply here.

The brand new Apple laptop that I bought for my wife’s birthday last year has an issue where the trackpad becomes extremely hot. I scheduled an appointment with the Maine Mall Apple store last weekend, and a diagnostic was ran. The technician told me that the trackpad needed to be replaced, free of charge. After my wife was contacted a few days later to pick up the machine, she was told in the store that there was additional water damage and that the repair was $700. She was also told that she could plug in a mouse and use that instead. We declined the repair due to the disparity between the estimate that I was given (no charge) and the estimate that she was provided ($700). When she arrived home, I touched the trackpad myself and it was so hot I couldn’t keep my finger on the trackpad. I spent time on the phone the following day with Apple seeking actual resolution but was unable to make progress. It’s discouraging to me to receive such a stark reminder that one of the largest and most lucrative corporations in the world has an apparent default position of valuing revenue over morality. I will certainly take my business elsewhere from now on.

I went to this store because I have apple care. They put in the wrong serial number for my phone into their computer and by doing so prevented me from getting phone replaced. Told me I would have to come back 24 hours later which I did after I called to confirm that the apple store had fixed the problem. I showed up again when my appointment was and the problem was still not fixed even though the apple store told me to come back and everything was fixed. Bad communication, bad acceptance of responsibility, bad kissing up to the obvious wronged customer. Just a horrible experience for a very expensive product.

Great service, we arrived and were assisted earlier than our scheduled time. The store is well laid out with plenty of staff who were enthusiastic about helping us with our issue. As visitors to the area they were very welcoming and even gave us advice for things to do and places to see while we were here. The store is located right next to an entrance so it’s very easy to access as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a new phone or for service.

went to the store today with $3000 in my pocket to buy a new system,more employees than customers so I thought I would be serviced well,,I was completely ignored by all,went to one girl standing and asked for help,and was told she wasnt allowed to leave here station so she just stood their arms crossed and watched me leave,so I walked to best buy and got my great new apple system which I am using to write this review,,trendy store with the worst service I have ever seen and I will never go in their again,my kids will be getting all their new systems at best buy ,seems they actually care about helping

The MOST RACIST store that I have been on the Maine Mall. I got an IPhone a few years ago and it finally broke so I needed to get a new one. As I was approaching the store two white women were ahead of me. As they entered the store they were immediately greeted my a rep. When I got in a few feet behind them guess what, NO ONE greeted me. I was till there looking none the less to see what kind of phone I needed. When I turned around I saw reps there doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but standing around talking. I was there 15 mins waiting to see if I would be addressed. No one came to me. Beer in mind a white person walked in after me but was addressed a few mins later. So I guess my money is a different colour and u never needed my BLACK DOLLARS that I was gonna spend off my debit card. It wasn't gonna be a down payment phone. I walked out of their and went to T-Mobile where I was greeted IMMEDIATELY. I changed my mind from Apple all together and bought a Samsung Galaxy instead. BEST BLACK DOLLARS I've ever spent. I will NEVER step foot in that store ever again. And I tell everyone I know not too. Ppl of colour beware. They don't want our black dollars.

Your store use to be very professional in appearance and service. I had 4 people wait on me. Between sloppy makeup, dirty nails and dirty clothes....someone my age just doesn’t see the professionalism. I get diversity, tats, and unique hairstyles but what about me? 64, educated, bathed and professionally attired. I feel a bit like I am entering a Twilight zone filled with people from another existence. Your staff is rushed, don’t smile, and clearly are not happy to serve me. I use to enjoy coming to the store, waiting on line for the newest product and chatting with your staff. I don’t feel appreciated at all. I bet your staff feels the same way about the customers. I would also appreciate a response to this comment if only to know if management reads these letters. Btw I am using my husbands phone to make this comment because after four hours your staff were unable to fix mine. Please. This company was once had the best service anywhere. What happened?

Had iPad question, said it would be 20min wait, we waited 20 min, employee walked right by us and asked two young girls if they needed help that just walked in. Never will visit this store again. Lots of employees standing around doing nothing. Why does the greeter have headphones on? Is he just hanging out with his friends or working? Time to shut this store down.

I am very upset with their service. Last week went to the store to purchase new iPhone X, the associate told me they do not have the product in store, but he can arrange to get it by mail. I paid in full and today it arrived,but locked one. I clearly asked the guy to make sure that the phone is unlocked because I am traveling abroad and will be using with foreign provider. Just for assurance called to technical assistance and they are telling me that this phone is locked. Very upset and unhappy. This damn place is not worth a penny, poor management and customer service. Anytime you come staff pretend to be busy, hanging and chatting with each other. I brought this to their management, but it does not seemed that they care. Anyway, just spent 45 minutes to fix the issue. My question when this huge companies who makes billions of $ will care for their customers? Why they should treat people poorly? Just because of the demand, they can not be nasty.

My Macbook Pro Retina LCD screen was broken when I was in Knoxville, TN and they said there that it would be $650 to fix because I had scratched the screen! I couldn't pay right then and instead got a second opinion went I came back home to Maine: there was no scratch on my screen! I took it to this Apple Store and the guy there apologized and told me it would be fixed cost-free in three to five days. I got a call that it was ready the very next day! They did a great job and I'm very happy with what they did and how they handled everything.

So my daughters i phone 8+ wouldn't turn on. Called apple and said bring it to the closest apple store (Portland mall) that is 1 hr 45 min away walked in explained the situation,then turned around and said love to help you but we are booked solid for the next three weeks.. so what can't help walk ins? I came in without and appointment with a 2 young kids and they said it would be an hour and a half to be seen. I was disappointed and the nice man that told me the news took care of what I needed himself without the wait... as for when I went to the front to inquire about a new phone a blonde woman with wild curly hair and piercings-no judgement just description- was very short and rude and didn't even act like she wanted to talk to me about getting a new phone. She had an awful attitude and the taller man she was working with in the front had no clue about any question I asked and they just sat there chit chatting instead of actually trying to set me up with a phone. Definitely won't make a purchase there but The genius bar is great!

Horrible experience from start to finish. My screen went completely black for no reason the night before I came to the store. I read online that all it needed was a reset, but I wasn't able to reset my phone by myself because my power button stopped working a few months ago (mind you my phone had been in an otter box its entire existence). Explained to the Apple employees that the problem should be an easy fix, and that I had extremely important contact information on my phone that I needed that day. Store representatives were extremely rude and arrogant. One of them, a gentlemen with a beard and an Apple beany came off as a bit hostile (he should definitely be spoken too before he gets himself into serious trouble). I switched from an HTC EVO to an iPhone because I thought Apple was a great American company that made reliable products and offered exceptional customer service. I was wrong, and needless to say, I am completely turned off from Apple products all together. Can't wait to switch to a Galaxy. Enough is enough.

I cannot find a way to talk to the store directly. Each attempt to call and resolve an issue involving a part ordered and sent to the store results in getting slammed back to a central phone office that requires a 15 didget product number ( I already have a case number, but that won't do...) followed by an interminable wait on hold listening to scratchy music. Absolutely UNSATISFACTORY customer service. Or, more accurately, 'Customer No Service'

I broke my iPhone 5c screen (in a lifeproof case... that's another story) a few months ago and was told the apple store could fix the screen without replacing the whole phone. I made an appointment in January and called to make sure they could do the repair before I drove an hour to the store. I got there and found out that they actually didn't have the part and the person on the phone was incorrect. So that was absolutely ridiculous. Today I called again to see if they could do the repair, and they told me they had the part but they couldn't guarantee that by my appointment they'd have any parts left. What is the point of an appointment then?? Totally frustrated by this store... they're the worst.

This was my second time in two days that I visited the Genius Bar, and there were two Specialists that helped me, one was a I think in training as a new associate, the two worked together as a team. They were both fantastic! Nicholas was the front Specialist, and knowing that the Genius appt.s, are ONLY 15 min. per space, Nicholas-he was very friendly, informative, encouraging, and made (me), feel like my time , my 15 min., was a hour long. The two young men answered all my questions, plus allowed me the time to make sure I understood what it was he (they) had done for my own understanding before I left the store.

I went into the store with a simple Ipad problem I need help with. They have 6 empolyees standing there with nothing to do, but tell me I need to wait 55 minutes to meet a technician. I don't mind waiting 10 or 15 minutes, but 55 minutes to solve a simple problem is crazy considering they have 6 other people standing there. Why can they not help me? The employees I did speak to were rude and pretentious, I will never go back to this store again.

Apple Store: We drove the requisite 2 hours to Portland from Jackson, NH for our 11:45A app’t, or at least that’s what the 1-800 Apple tech setup. Got there only to be told it was to be a 4P…super busy store, but lots and lots of help. A manager named Scott got us worked in at the “Genius Bar” and we soon learned that our beloved laptop was, for all intents and purposes, dead. Left it for repairs (super nice guy ?? Tom?? helped with the sad diagnosis). Julia got us setup with a new Macbook Pro and we our laptop was repaired, perfectly without any loss of data and back in our hands in less than a week. Awesome, friendly and knowledgeable service. ALWAYS!

I have had a good experiences in the store with the reps, yet I am heading for my 4th iphone6 plus as they have all been factory defective! Apple won't let me drop down a level to iphone 6 or anything but keep exchanging for new ones, as the 14 day policy applies no matter what! I purchased this phone in March 2015!

I went in on October 2 to get the new iPhone u had the 6 and wanted to trade it in and get the 6s plus. A young lady named Corissa guided me through the recycle iPhone process and helped with all the necessary steps I needed to get my new iPhone going she was charismatic and beyond friendly she made me feel welcomed and comfortable and that's Always a necessary when having a good shopping experience. I give her customer service an A+ and she's definitely a necessity to your company.

I bought a lemon MacBook pro. The logic board on the 2017 models are a known problem. They fixed it the first time under the warranty. The second time they told me it was gross water damage. Which is a lie because I never spilt anything and had a keyboard protector on it. I will never buy anything from Apple again and will encourage my friends family and co-workers to do to same. This Apple is a group of the most fake people in history. They are like a hive mind collective.

It's an Apple Store, just like most of the others, which ain't a bad thing. I needed a MacBook Pro, went in knowing more or less what I needed, and left about 15 minues later with the 13 inch 2017 MBP and everything else I needed, including the sales person's recomendation to buy a port expander from Best Buy rather the one Apple had on offer, since she felt it was more robust and looked better (a good piece of advice).

After reading so many negative reviews I was skeptical about getting help with my 6 year old MacBook. I made a Genius Bar appointment. They were extremely helpful and friendly figuring out what was wrong and suggesting upgrades that I could do. The lady next to me was elderly and obviously new to computers and the technician was incredibly patient with her walking her through all kinds of stuff. I was extremely happy with my experience. Whenever I've called Apples tech support for many devices I've owned over the years I've always been happy with the service I received.

The staff was great, polite and friendly, and knew their stuff once you get to speak to one of them. However the wait (queue as they term it) is brutal, even on a Tuesday afternoon. You can't leave the store, there's no where to sit, and so many people you couldn't look at something if you wanted to. The two stars in no way reflects on the staff, it's all Apple's way of doing things.

Had a issue with my phone !! Went to the apple store expecting to wait for a while from the looks of how many people there !! But to my surprise someone met me at the door to take my name so I would be next !! And was in less than 3 min. I will say it was packed, but had no prob with all the techs around the place !! Apple lacks customer service. I have tried no less than 5 times to make an appointment at their mall location (because they won't talk to you at the store unless you have one) but end up having to hang up after being put on hold for at least10 minutes (sometimes 15). Great service by apple..!! I got an iPhone 7 Plus 20+ days ago, had some issue with it. Am lucky to have warranty for this device, they just replaced it with new one. I used it for 10+ or so days! Due to iOS higher versions 7 plus isn’t really that good and want to switch it with Xs-max, as we have a 14 or 15 (not sure on the count) days return policy. So it was my last day to return/exchange my iPhone 7 Plus which I bought earlier. I got the new Xs-max and I paid the difference in the amount. I had my receipts emailed for the devices which I bought, when randomly having a look on my receipts, apple software which they are using for payment is a buggy software, it didn’t calculate my taxes from the difference? This software made me pay extra dollars(tax amount which I paid for my iPhone 7 Plus) which is $31. It deducted the original price from Xs-max price (without adding taxes which I paid earlier), when reached over to store manager he was like little not caring as I made some false statements!! later he realized, yes it was software mistake, he apologized and returned my $31 as cash. Manager was like you might get refund but you could keep it! Am in bad day, I was like I don’t get any refund coz I paid everything and got my receipts for all which shows I paid everything how could he be so rude..!! Later he realized and thanked me for letting that know! If I wouldn’t asked them? I don’t get my money back? Manager was like “YES”. How about YOU/ALL apple users?? How many of you have lost money with this apple buggy software?? Check your receipts and get the amount if you lost any? I can show my receipts as proof of evidence if you don’t trust..!! I would term this as “Apple software fraud”..!!

First experience at an Apple store for this old (72) guy. I'm shopping for a new iphone and Steve Beck was very helpful and not the least bit condescending as is sometimes the case with a bi-generational tech conversation. I didn't buy the phone (but I will soon) and there was no pressure to do so. Car salesmen could take a lesson here.

Was told in a chat with Apple customer service to bring my iMac to the Apple Store at the Maine Mall. When I got there though, the representative told me that my computer had just celebrated its 5th birthday three months earlier, and in light of this they "didn't have the parts" to service my computer, and there was nothing they could do for me. If it had been made at the end of this month, they would have the parts and would be able to service my computer. Poor customer service. Thanks for the heads up, iChat rep.

Walked in on 4/19/2019 was greeted by a friendly face asked how I could be helped and mentioned I was there to buy a new phone. I was then quickly passed on to another associate who i felt I was more of a nuisance than a customer even though I was spending $1250 on a new phone. When I finally was given my new phone it was still in its box and placed in a bag and that's when the helper walked away. I then had to unwrap my new phone, power it on just to find out it needed 1/2 hour update!! Frustrated I left and drove home with no access to phone calls or text messages. The best way to explain my experience was like being in a deli and waiting for your number to get called out, then having your meat slammed on the counter and yelling the next number.

I have been to the Apple store in Portland many times in the last 6-7 years. Never has anyone been rude to me and I have received excellent service and help. I was surprised that the phone customer service did not make an appointment for the person who drove a long distance only be told they did not have time for her/him then. I have called about my iPad and been told to go to the store for help. The person on the phone ask when I wanted to go and made the appointment. Service is one the the reasons I have Apple products.

Angry sales rep girl with glasses and chin length dark hair, she's really strange and EXTREMELY rude, starting at "hello". Apparently she's been like this with other customers, but she still is put in a position to interact with customers, while other customers look over in horror at her bizarre behaviour. Otherwise, your typical Apple store with too many people, not enough help, and really expensive stuff that still looks the same as 10 years ago. Staff doesn't know their product that well (their response to questions are, "I think so...?" Don't they know what they're selling?) Had to contact Apple on the phone to get basic info.

The workers are excellent and never once have they been rude to me, however 2 weeks ago I went in to get my iPhone 6 screen fixed, the next day I realized that the bottom right corner of my screen was making a clicking noise which I never had before and then the next day I noticed that one of the 2 screws on the bottom of the phone next to the charging input was missing. I do not know if this is an issue with my screen clicking but I am hoping to soon get it fixed.

I found what I needed ( Apple Airapods, no one presently has them in stock. Not even on line.) And I was able to check out right away. Thank you for the great service!

Always feel talked down to at the Apple store. I worked in IT for 5 years, yet they treat everyone like they don't know how to turn on an iPad. That said they offer decent service. But I'd rather take my business to third party sites that deal with Apple products.

My Thunderbolt cable just broke today due to bad wiring, and I went in to tried to get it replaced. It was a very simple issue with the cord, but they wanted to set up an appointment to look at it. They couldn't even spend 2 minutes looking at my cord which was right in my hand. The woman who served me was very helpful, but she said I could buy a cord and get it replaced tomorrow. I said "okay," but I walked over to the cords and it was 29.99. I walked out of the store very frustrated and angry. As a small time business owner I am very disappointed in Apple. I am ashamed to have a product from them. I am going to lose business tomorrow because of this. I now have an iPhone that I can't use. THANKYOU! They also have employees that sit by the tables and do nothing.

Interesting you must have an appointment. I arrived on time but still waited 25 minutes to be seen. Also, purchased Apple Care for the item needing support but will pay an additional $299 fee to resolve the issue. Never received any documentation explaining what is or is not covered under the Apple Care program. Disappointed to say the least.

Where to start? Since I am a 2 hour drive away from Portland , I thought it best to find out some answers. Bottom line, I knew exactly what I wanted- to upgrade my hard drive to double the storage space. After numerous phone calls, some of which are not listed here, where I was told by tech persons who were NOT at the store 1) there is no way of knowing if the store has the part 2) if they do , they might not have it when you get there Which seems odd, as that is what my appointment at the Genius Bar would indicate-so, they wouldn't put it aside for me 3) then, another phone call ,I will try to connect you to the store- 4) tech talked to store - they can't tell if they have the part or not -I said "really- can't they either go look or put it in their computer system and see if they have the part-" So I have to drive 2 hours to find out they don't have the part I need? 5) another phone call, talked to a tech person at Corporate ( not sure how I got connected there) she said "Oh , yes I can tell you if they have the part, but then they have to send the computer out for repair- "I said, first of all , this is not a repair, this is an upgrade, and second of all, why would you have to send it out- it is a simple replacement of a part-" she could not answer that- POOR Customer Service- it should not take 5-6 phone calls to get some answers- I think they wanted me to come in and purchase a new computer-I have been to this store a few times and never been impressed with their service- now, they have hit bottom, and you know what- they don't care - because they don't have to.

Clean. Friendly employees. Displays were good. I am not a shopper and was there wih my daughter. She was buying the Apple Air Pods. (She LOVES them!) I walked around the store looking for a cash register. Nope. I wasn't sure who the employees were. One eventually saw the confused look on my face and asked me if I wanted to cash out. I said, "yes!" He pulled out his little phone machine thing, slid my card through his device then went to another table, reached under it and pulled out a receipt. I guess that's how things are in a store full of pretty nice devices. Overall, it was a good transaction and shopping experience.

My laptop broke.. completely my fault. When I went in to have it repaierd at the apple store, I waited over an hour just to drop it off. $500 and 5 days later I got an email saying that I was ready for pickup. I arrived at the store and stood at the “Genius Bar” for 30 minutes waiting for them to just hand me my laptop. Meanwhile there were about 10 employees just standing around. The process for dropoff and pickup needs to be streamlined.

My company is required by out insurance to have our products "Asset Tagged", which means that a specific sticker has to be placed inside the unit where it would be difficult to remove. In the case of apple products, the tag has to be inserted by an apple store genius technician. In order to even drop the brand-new MacBook Pro Retna (a $4000 machine) off at the store an appointment had to be made, which would lead one to assume that the work would be done at that time. This was not the case. It has been over 2 days, and no progress has been made on opening the computer, applying the sticker, taking a picture, and closing the case. This is NOT a difficult task. Even after my superior called the manager and spoke to him multiple times, no progress was made. This is by far, the WORST service I have ever received from any business I have ever employed for any reason. This computer is for me to do my work, after my last computer died, and this is preventing me from doing work, and has been for over 2 days. If you must use an Apple store, I highly recommend going elsewhere.

Replaced a failing Retina display on my wife's out-of-warranty MBP free of charge, in less than a week, with a smile and a handshake. I only went in for an estimate! If that's not service, I may never know what is. I think I'll be buying an iPad from this store, too, so that my daughter doesn't freak out the next time I say we have to leave. All in good fun. Thanks a million! A huge help when we were down and asked us only to pass on the kindness. I'll never forget it.

I was please with the information I received but very disappointed that the Genius Bar person could not transfer my data from my Dell PC to my new Mac (policy) as I was led to believe when I made the appt. Very frustrated now. I did not realize that all he showed me was how to create my Google mailbox and Roadrunner mailbox. And showed me that Pages and Notes are equivalent to MS Office. Overpriced products sold to image conscious wankers who think that buying a slick white box will make them relevant. Intentionally unserviceable, designed to break after your Apple Care has run out (look it up). Staff upsells products to people who don't need them. I asked staff why someone doing web browsing and light still image editing needed 16 gigs of RAM, the answer given was "future proofing". Yeah, right. Just get a PC.
