I've dealt with several computer repair businesses in the Des Moines Metro over the years, and Dymin Systems is the best. I am of the analog generation (translation: I don't speak computerese) and I never feel that Dymin is patronizing me or trying to up-sell me.

More like 1.5 stars, but round up to 2 because I'm nice. These guys will try to save a buck in any shady way possible in order to maximize their profits. For most people who don't know the ins-and-outs of computers, they might be a good place to get comprehensive service and repairs, but I know at least a little bit about computers and could tell they were repeatedly cheating me. I simply had a broken hinge on my laptop's lid… when I took it to them I specifically told them to fix that issue and NOTHING ELSE, since my computer was otherwise working great and I know how some places like to magically "find" all sorts of issues just to rack up the charges on customers. The lid issue was fixed after a full week, but they installed USED parts, and this is on a computer that is only one year old (there is NO WAY they could not have found new parts as far as I'm concerned). These used parts were obviously worn and not at all like-new to my eyes (scratches/scuff marks on the backing of the lid, for example), the first instance of them trying to make a few extra bucks. When I picked the computer up, it was all of a sudden much slower than when I took it into them (it took over 10 minutes to start up, something that only took about 2 minutes before I brought it in to them to be serviced). This issue obviously needed to be fixed, and when they looked into it they told me I needed a new hard drive, which would cost $60. I asked what they had done to cause my computer to turn into molasses, but they would/could not tell me anything. After they put the new hard drive in and were attempting to copy my files over, they realized I had a lot more data than the typical person might have since I have tens of thousands of photographs and several drone video files. This lack of hard drive space was only an issue because they sneakily tried to put in a 500 GB hard drive to replace my original 750 GB hard drive without telling me about this size downgrade. One would expect to have their computer returned to them with the same specifications that it originally had, but instead they tried to sneak a smaller hard drive into my computer… another example of them trying to make a few extra bucks. I complained and they easily could have upgraded me to the hard drive size that I originally had, but said they could not do so without an extra charge. Also because my hard drive had to be replaced, all of my applications were uninstalled and caused me several days of inconvenience of reinstalling everything. Their excuse for all of these issues was that the typical customer gets confused by computer lingo, and because of this they try to keep things simple and not tell the customer all of the nitty-gritty details. That's understandable and fine if they are honest and not pulling shady stuff, but the only problem with this is that I know enough about computers to realize they were cheating me on several occasions. Like I said, this would be only a 1 star review except they tried to make amends after I made it clear to the manager that I was unhappy and gave me a $50 gift card and transferred all of my data free of charge to make up for all the nonsense I had to put up with (and likely to dissuade me from writing a negative review like this). For me, a simple fix ended up taking almost 2 full weeks before I got my computer back in my hands in working condition, and even then it took me another 3+ days to get everything organized like I had it before I took it in to Dymin Systems and I was left with a hard drive that is 33% smaller than I started with (and almost completely full as soon as I got my computer back because of the amount of files I have). Do not go here if you dislike being cheated by a company just so they can maximize their profits in a shady way. I was able to tell I was getting cheated, but I have a feeling the average customer would not even know they were getting screwed. I'll be going elsewhere for future computer repairs or service.

Found a Craiglist ad for a cheap PC pre-loaded with an OS and made contact. Received very prompt and courteous response indicating the unit was being sold by Dymin Systems. Went into the shop and was met by polite staff. They listened to my stories of conquering the world with a minimal budget and set me up quickly with the exact item from the Craigslist ad. I literally received a fully-functioning Windows 7 PC for $50. One member of the staff even shared my admiration of cats and laser beams. Would highly recommend. I will be returning.

My laptop crashed and everything I'd had on it for 8 years at work. I was in panic mode and knew if I took it to our IT department I could be waiting weeks to get it back. Dymin Systems helped me to configure a new computer per my requirements and then to assemble it. The representative gave me a lot of good information to help me to determine the components while also recommending components that would satisfy my wants, even though he did not always agree with what I wanted. They then assembled the computer per my instructions in under 24 hours, including installing the operating system. The only thing that might have been better was that when I went to pick up the computer, the person at the front desk that took my payment did not offer to carry it out to my car. This would have been a nice thing to do given that the computer was rather large and heavy and I am an older woman. But I didn't feel the need to dock them a star for not doing that.

Very helpful with my search for upgraded Mac RAM. An employee saw me through the shop window and came immediately out from the tech workshop to greet me. I know a little about computers, but he was very friendly and asked questions that wouldn't be too intimidating or confusing for an inexperienced shopper. Very impressive. They had what I was looking for and explained that due to the variations in Macs over the years, he couldn't guarantee it would work since I didn't bring the laptop in, but he assured me that if it didn't, I could bring it back with the computer, and he would guarantee to set me up with the right parts. There ended up being no need, as his recommendation was spot-on. Prices were very reasonable compared to other retailers. I'm always willing to pay a few dollars more than the slightly discounted prices at big-box retailers or Amazon to get a professionally recommended product with quality local service to back it. I will be going back to Dymin Systems for future tech needs.

Had Dymin build the computer we use as a server at work. They suggested mirroring dual hard drives in case of a corruption, which actually happened about a year later. We took it in, being unable to process invoices or estimate work until it was fixed, we had to pay extra to put it ahead of everyone else, which I think is unfair to people who were there before us. As it turned out, the board used to run both hard drives failed, and corrupted 3 week of data. The response we got is that we should have had Dymin remote backup service, and additional cost and a product we were unaware we might need with mirrored hard drives. I understand that parts fail, but we specifically asked for a system that had redundant backups, and weren't made aware that our system could suffer a complete failure with the loss of one component. We now use a different local company for our computer needs.

I have NEVER had such wonderful customer service from any company. I purchased a used printer from them off eBay (the same model as my old one that died). Great price and free shipping and a 14 day return policy!. It got here while I was out of town and my husband put it in my office. When I got home, I set it up, put my ink in and it turned right on and printed a black test page but would not print in color. I reset the color cartridges - no luck. Ran the alignment and print head cleaning - no luck. Bought new ink and still no luck, so I sent a message stating the problem and went to bed. The very next morning before I could even call the company, I had a nice email from them and a complete refund in my PayPal account. I was shocked. I had it boxed up and got a message telling me that I did not need to send it back, I could keep it and try to fix it or whatever. I would highly recommend Dymin as a decent, honest company who knows the meaning of customer service and stands behind their words! No arguing, no demanding proof, no send it back and we will recheck it - just a we are sorry it did not work and we made it right. I have NEVER had such wonderful customer service from any company. I hate I had to buy a printer locally, but had work that needed color printing immediately and could not wait to have another one shipped.

My older laptop recently failed and I received a quick call detailing my options. I ended up getting a refurbished laptop (my second one from them, this wasn't the one that failed) and they did the backup and installment of Office. They offered for me to bring the laptop back if there were any issues arising and I was able to get my laptop back in a very timely manner. We've always used Dymin and will continue to do so.

I have used Dymin for years, back when they were in the old location.. I have used them for any problem, some simple, some not. They are fast and reasonable in their fees. Dymin is my first stop with any questions or problems. I didn't purchase my latest computer from Dymin as I have in the past. I never feel as if they aren't interested in my machine and have done some upgrades and a repair at reasonable prices. Fast service, reasonable prices, and knowledgeable staff. I'm sticking with Dymin.

I was going to build a Windows gaming computer. I have ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), and VERY limited manual dexterity, so I was going to be the brains, and my wife was going to be my hands. I spent 6 weeks watching YouTube videos, ao it can't be that hard, right? Everything went great for 7 or 8 days, and we were having a great time. Then I got confused, and my wife stopped talking to me. I Googled 'computer service' and found Dymin. Justin came out to our house, analyzed the problem, and suggested that it would be best to take it to Dymin. He came back the next afternoon, picked it up, and brought this back the next day. The first day, Dymin called to confirm the appointment, told me the technician's name, and told me'd be driving a white Dymin Kia. Overall, I could not be more impressed with Dymin!
