Quoted us 175$ for dogs teeth cleaning + x-ray and 35 per extracted tooth, get there at 7 a.m., they said they're going to look at the dogs and give me an estimate on the cleaning cost. 10 minutes later when they return, they give me an estimate of 400-700$ per dog, and a minimum of 240$ per dog if it is just the x-ray and cleaning, to which I refused. After cancelling the appointments, they charged me 90$ per 'Exam' and 38$ per blood testing on each dog - which I was never informed they were doing, or the cost of. After a day or two of arguing they decided to credit back the cost of the blood work, but refused to credit back the exam cost. Will never go back or recommend to anyone.

I am doing a college research project I have not been to this college but from the looks of it, it seems like a very good vet clinic. I am in middle school. It was hard to choose but after reading all the reviews and looking at all the photos I think I am going to pick this college. I personally want to be a vet when I grow up. I love animals and I want to do anything I can to help them. So I will work very hard to get into this college and others like this college. Who ever works her you should be very proud. You help save animals lives and help their pain they maybe feeling go away. So thank you all for what wonderful job you guys have done. Thank you!

Great veterinary college, just doesn't care for exotic animals. Second largest applicant pool in the USA.

My wife and I brought our dog Harper to the Virginia Maryland College of veterinary medicine and were blown away by the phenomenal care that we received. Harper came in with an ectopic ureter and Dr. Wilkinson and the vet student Lauren S. took wonderful care of us. Dr. Wilkinson explain the treatment options thoroughly and made sure we understood everything. Both Dr. Wilkinson and Lauren were very nice and obviously cared very much about our baby. Harper's procedure went flawlessly under their care. Everyone from the hospital was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Thank you everyone for all your help and for taking such good care of Harper.

My toy poodle recently had grade 4 luxating patella surgery at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medical small animal hospital. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone and everyone. The information delivered before the procedure and the post-procedure care instructions were outstanding. Their communication during your pets stay is far beyond anything I expected. They call very soon after your pet is out of surgery and will give you an update on the surgery and your pets condition. They also call several times a day during their continued stay. Again, I would highly recommend them to anyone needing expert outstanding care for their pet.

The vet I dealt with was impersonal, manipulative, and lacked compassion. Will never deal with that specific Dr again. I expect the vet to be honest, compassionate, and understanding. Definitely not what I expected.

This hospital saved my horses life July 30th dr Rodriguez dr Everett and dr pleasant and dr K we’re amazing. Handled my guy with a lot of care. The inters were outstanding. They kept me up to date on EVERYTHING and made me feel like everything was going to be okay. The only thing that I couldn’t stand was the small animal receptionists, she argued with me until it was almost to late. She told me that 6,000 was needed before the life saving surgery could take place. She kepted talking and repeating her words like I was a complete idiot. I told her that I could only pay $300 and she said “oh so you want to put him down that’s only what it would cost.” She was very disrespectful, rude, ill mannered, self centered and I would have most definitely took her straight to her boss if her boss was there. She really needs some customer service lessons. Kara ion the other hand in the large animal part was OUTSTANDING she was awesome! And she was very perfessional! I will give it 10/10 even with the rude and inconsiderate receptionist I’m the small animal THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! ❤️❤️

Took my dog here. They found a bacterial infection in my dog. My dog is in pain and pissing blood. We were suppose to get the prescription Friday. They dragged thier feet all day friday because of some football game. So my dog had to suffer all weekend. And here it is on Monday and they are still slacking on sending the prescription info to our local vet. Me and my dog give this place 1 star.

We typically try not to leave negative reviews, particularly ones tangential to services provided, but our experience here and some lack of clarity we believe merited it. We sought Techs laboratory help in regards to the culturing of an abscess in order to rule out the presence of a commonly known communicable disease within a herd. We contacted Tech and were directed to hand deliver sample to lab - upon which we were met with confusion from recipients who ultimately revealed that they do not accept samples from individuals or business that are not procured by veterinarians. Policy aside; there is nothing in any of their online material that suggests this nor did their physical accession form indicate a Vet requirement. More frustrating is that we were not advised in a call before driving 3 hours, and when questioned on the lack of clarity there seemed to merely be shoulder shrugging and hollow apologies. I have absolutely no doubts regarding the quality of services provided here, however this policy (which is unique in relations to the VA State Lab as well as other university laboratories) really should be explained clearly on their website, accession forms AND desk people should be cognizant as to whether a potential client is being referred by a Vet or is representing themselves and their farm.

We found a mast cell tumor on my dogs chest. My local vet talked to me about taking him to VA Tech. They were really nice and we saw an excellent doctor/surgeon who took the time to explain everything and answered all my questions. We did return for the surgery, it went great. Except for the tumor part...we had a wonderful experience here!! (Plus a great outcome...my dog is doing awesome)

While the diagnosis was not great for my little buddy, the service and attention he and I got from the time we walked in the door until the time we left was impeccable. I went on the weekend and the vet on duty was wanting to just monitor my dog through the weekend and make him comfortable until he could be transferred to the medical division on Monday, which isn't open on the weekends. He noticed an arrhythmia in the heart and treated it accordingly. He was going off shift and wanted to check his heart beat again before leaving because he said it was confusing him based on other symptoms. He then called in a cardiologist specifically to attend my dog and performed an echo-cardiogram. This is when they found the cause of my dogs ailment. After informing me of the diagnosis, he was very attentive to all my questions. He was very respectful and accommodating of my decision not to euthanize immediately, as my dog was still in stable condition and not suffering. The staff and facility are absolutely top notch and I highly recommend them.

The staff was friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgable! I felt very comfortable and was confident in the diagnosis and treatment planned by the Opthomology department. In particular, Drs Pickett and Disney were very personable, likable and made sure to explain their findings in terms I'd understand, as well as answer all questions and concerns I had.
