I owe this school my life. I was in a very dark place after failing out of Hvcc during my semester filled with crippling depression and anxiety. Transferring here brought me so much happiness The staff was extremely caring, prompt, and knowledgeable. The teachers and professors were caring, highly intelligent, and prioritized student success. I have never once seen an act of racism from the staff or students here. I found the student body to be incredibly friendly and welcoming for being a two year commuter school.

This school so far is good for me, atmosphere isn't the greatest. Music program is really good and clean. I have a very good vocal professor and he's teaching lots of good techniques. Great school if you want to be a music major.

This college is one of the worst in New York State.Half of the employee there are rude and racist the teachers hate it they complain about the pay rate.Please don’t make the same mistake I did and choose to go here cause it’s cheaper then Hudson valley spend the extra money it’s so worth it they also would try and get you for extra money so pay attention to the award letters and keep them for your records.The Dean never return your calls and this assistants swear he busy all time.Everyone that said this school was great was not a person of color education dept needs to review the student here of color

I started college at SCCC right after high school and will be transferring to another school to get my Bachelor's degree in Fall 2019. I love this school. There are many opportunities here that I didn't think would be, like scholarships, support organizations, clubs and other services. Most of my professors are supportive, understanding and willing to guide students through difficult situations. The professors I had were well qualified and had experience teaching at various state universities and private schools in the area and were all passionate about their classes. I love the campus, too. It's right by downtown Schenectady, There's a ton of great restuarants nearby as well as Jay Street, the riverside park, the mohawk hudson bike trail, proctors and other fun things to do. It's a small campus with fairly good class sizes. The library is great, too. I would highly reccomend this school to highschool graduates or people returning to education.

most of the teachers are dedicated to the success of their students,some will do anything to get you to drop that class because they don’t want to teach at all ive a few very good teachers that ive taken more than one class with because they are good educators find these teachers before you take classes for a good experience in college- as far as the nick name second chance college - it was but if they didn’t give me that second chance then id have no education to pass on to my kids and use in the work place.

My experience here wasn't good at all I will be transferring to Hudson Valley there is a lot of racist staff here when it comes to people of color. The professor will not help you like they should I had an Accounting class that got out an hour early every time we had class. What are we paying for if we only are getting half and education The Dean doesn't make it his business to call you if you reach out to him. Which I did many of time. This school is really one of the worst they will take your money and don't care about your education at all
