I didn’t attend this school, however, when going to inquire about attending with my girlfriend the continuing education department had a lady who was very rude and belittled us for simply asking questions about the courses she desired to take. If you are interested in this school don’t go to the continuing education department on the market commons campus unless you enjoy being treated like you’re stupid.

Past enrollments will stay subscribed to the weather warnings. I live in California and I still, two years later, get weather notifications from HGTC because no one knows how to contact who I need to reach.

Financial aid department is absolutely horrible. Held my student money for over a week when I went to see them they said all my information was straight just for them to tell me at the last minute I was still missing information

If you want to get things done. Don’t go here. Anytime you have a problem they send you in circles with who to go to. Need to talk to an advisor then expect to wait at least an hour. Don’t go to testing center without an appointment because even if they don’t have a single soul in there they will tell you walk ins are only from 9:00-11:00. All I have to say is good luck.

This is a great college. I was not sure what I wanted to do after high school but knew I wanted to go to college. Tom Jordan was a huge help in my decision making with associates in science. I will graduate and be a RN in 3 years total of school and have very little school debt. Why spend 20k + a semester when I can get a better education and make more money in the long term for cheaper at HGTC. Great place for anyone. Life changing decision to enroll.

Please listen to the reviews this college is VERY money hungry, they will find a needle in a haystack to prevent you from ever getting in county tuition. Although they have a lot of nice employees, admissions will give the run arounds like you have never seen before. I've attended two other technical colleges, one in SC, and this school is the worst, by far! Prepare your self to jump through the hoops they are endless and HGTC will have them lined up endlessly for you. Yes, a semester here is cheaper than the local 4 year school, but it will cost you in stress, anxiety, time, money, blood, sweat and tears. I really don't care for your empty apology comment suggesting me to email someone that will probably never even return an email. This post is for the benefit of anyone considering this school. The professors are great, however the registers office and administrative offices are awful. The scheduling is a joke, and they do not care to help you or make your experience any better. The school will run you around in a circle until you give up on trying to get an answer. No one from administration will take fault on their own mistakes. I highly recommend looking at other options for schooling.

When I was enrolled here from 2012 to 2015, I had a wonderful experience in school and with all of my professors. The problem is getting IN the school to start. It was a hassle getting financial aid straightened out with emails being sent out every time I submitted my forms, only to find out there was something else that I needed. Overall, my experience was fine once I was enrolled. I have always told my friends, family, and my team members at work graduating high school that "as long as you can push through financial aid, you'll have a great time learning from their professors," but quickly over the years, this school has shown how much of a drag it is to enroll with financial aid. I had two siblings that fought through and started classes (my sister was recently married, so now financial aid is hassling her again), and every single one of my team members that have tried to apply for any aid have been turned down. Without fail, after they have turned in their forms and asked the financial aid staff "Is there ANYTHING else I need to turn in before I leave," the response is always,"No, you are good to go," only for them to send an email out by the time they get home stating that they are missing something or they need something else. It seems to me that the financial aid staff is just there to say "No" like a grumpy old man and do nothing to aid the kids coming out high school. Horry Georgetown Tech must understand that they may be the only junior college in the area, but I will GLADLY begin suggesting to my team members to go to college online through Liberty or Regent University, where there is no hassle, financial aid actually aids people, and they stay on top of making sure students are successful in their education.

The staff does not have their stuff together. I've been several different times just for them to keep telling me that I need to do more paperwork on top of the paperwork I have already done. They should be telling you what you need all at one time and not through five different sessions. One person tells you one thing and the next person tells you something different. Not to mention when you are trying to turn in paperwork and they don't tell you about this one little thing that you have to have in there so now you have to do ALL the paperwork over AGAIN even when it's not your fault! This is by far so ridiculous! Makes me not even want to try and better my career.

The campus is great and if you're looking for the "college feel" it's a 4 plus star campus wise but the bread and butter is in the classroom. I can only speak for the engineering department and my experience was terrible. Some professor didn't care if you understood what you were doing are not. Nothing we did in class was even close to the exam and if 90% of the class was still unsure, the professor would still move on. Studying engineering is already a demanding field but for professors to be VERY BRIEF in there delivery of a lecture can spell disaster. The front offices wasn't the best either, me personal I would just go to a university (costal Carolina) but if not Miller motte tech is a better choice.

What a nightmare dealing with this community college. They never pick up the phones. I finally called the president. Hard to change classes,. They try to pretend you didn't withdrawal from a class, wonder why. Could it be the money, eh.....

Very happy with my summer ENG course with Mr. Flood. Absolutely an amazing professor. Mrs. Bonita J. Dove has helped me with registration after I had several issues dropping online classes so I was able to register for on campus classes.

This is an excellent jr college. The teachers and advisors, that I've had, really care about your success and will help you achieve your goals. Sometimes the girls at admissions have a short fuse but I understand the number of idiots that come in there and give them a hard time. If you can't succeed here then you must be lazy or you fail to ask for help.

I went to HGTC I can agree they are money hungry.. never got the extra help they always said we could get. Nobody cared that I had a hard time with my class. Everyone would say, there great , and I never got the help I needed. There is no support in the college. If your having a difficult time in a class, they don't help. There not even concerned. But they already got your money; do that explains it. I don't think I'd ever go back there.

Very rude staff, no one seems to know what is going on, most unorganized college I have ever been to! This is why I decided to go to a different school. They tell you one thing and then turn around and change it on you and act like they never said that! Went in and asked what all we would need for in state residency and brought them in exactly what they said and they told us we needed to get other items as well, we did that and went back in and what we needed changed yet again! They will do whatever they can, even for locals, to make you pay out of state tuition to get the extra $$$$!!

3 weeks ago I showed up though the WIOA program to go to school. I had my admissions form and my Wavier fee that I get through there. I didn’t have time to do it that day so I left. I came back two weeks later to retry and they said I still owed 30$,And Where kind of mean and clearly thought I was lying when I said I was with the WIOA program. They told me to go get another sheet and bring it to them,I came back very upset because I was already cutting it really close to missing the mark to sign up for classes. I walked in handed to them and than I left,Because I didn’t have time at this point to sign up,Bor did I For the rest of the week. Well,Here we are today. I walked in this morning to sign up for classes,And they THEN told me that the form that I got from the WIOA program wasn’t relevant,That it was the wrong form,And the lady at admissions immediately started yelling at me when I started laughing and said “Come on guys I handed it to you and I know I did”. They handed me the directors card and said call this number that they couldn’t “Debate this” with me. So in a rage I went back to the WIOA program told my case manager and stormed out because at this point I’ve tried to re-apply for college three times and literally did everything else I had to do including finical-aid,WIOA program school shopping...All I had to do was sign up for classes,Than when I tried to tell my frustrations to admissions I was dismissed very easily. Whoever this Director is I hope you read this,Because of you there’s another criminal on the street now because when I tried to do the right thing,They absolutely refused to help,Support or even care. I don’t think I’m meant for college,I think this is my proof.

*UPDATE* After several semesters, the problem has been resolved. The technical error which cost my family several thousands of dollars has finally been solved. They will not reimburse the difference, pocketing thousands of extra dollars on the technical glitch. If there is any administrative issue with your account, prepare for a long hard battle. Giving one more star because FINALLY I feel like a student instead of a meatbag to steal from and demean. ======================================= I have recently had a negative experience when in the admissions process. They run you around in circles, constantly changing the requirements for what you need, they are very terse and unclear in their directions to you, and extremely unprofessional in their handling of important documents. They have lost original copies of my papers. They have a rather arcane set of laws judging if you are local are not. I've lived 5 minutes away from the school for 3 years now. However my rent is too low so therefore I do not qualify for in state tuition. What... rent is too low so therefore you don't get in state tuition? Madness! I notice that the owner of the school views these reviews. Good. If we need to talk in person about this insanity, I can.

My twin daughters went here straight from high school, both did well, graduated in two years and went on to CCU to finish in another two years. The system works perfectly as designed, we couldn't be more satisfied.

Difficult navigating web site not easy to add or drop classes. School would not let you speak to an advisor till your done jumping through ridiculous hoops. Barely any credits transferred almost none. Would not except me as an instate residence only due to my drivers license

I agree with others who have spoken of disorganization. I applied to the school back in October, and accepted in November. I've been in touch via email several times, and gone into the office 2 or 3 times since then finishing my application process/financial aid so that everything would be finished in time. They neglected to tell me, until a week before the new term started, that my chosen program only accepts new students in the fall. Had they told me this from the start, rather than stringing me along for 2 months, I could have looked for other programs elsewhere. Now its too late to apply to other schools for this semester, so because of them, I have to wait another 8 months to start school. Obviously this throws a huge wrench into any plans I might have had. Very disappointed in how they have handled things.
