U of P is a generally great looking college with a lot of history, but the campus can be a bit confusing (for conference goers) and the school could make an effort to update both itself (it has the problem many campuses with 50's-70's era buildings have, where a few buildings are starting to look a little dark and heavily used) and to improve the state of some of the surrounding area (I did a lot of walking while here, and most directions are nice, but not ALL of them - something that colleges really can make a difference with). As a location, it's not as well served by public transit as some other big city universities, but it does pretty well. All of that aside, the school has a great reputation, a couple of nice museums, and was quite welcoming to visitors. I would certainly be happy to return to visit, and think the Universities reputation speaks for itself in terms of academics.

The University of Pennsylvania (Penn or UPenn) is a private Ivy League research university located in the University Citysection of West Philadelphia. Incorporated as The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn is one of 14 founding members of the Association of American Universities and one of the nine colonial colleges chartered before the American Revolution. Benjamin Franklin, Penn's founder, advocated an educational program that focused as much on practical education for commerce and public service as on the classics and theology, though his proposed curriculum was never adopted. The university coat of arms features a dolphin on the red chief, adopted directly from the Franklin family's own coat of arms. Penn was one of the first academic institutions to follow a multidisciplinarymodel pioneered by several European universities, concentrating multiple "faculties" (e.g., theology, classics, medicine) into one institution. It was also home to many other educational innovations. The first school of medicine in North America (Perelman School of Medicine, 1765), the first collegiate business school (Wharton School, 1881) and the first "student union" building and organization (Houston Hall, 1896) were founded at Penn. With an endowment of $12.21 billion (2017), Penn had the seventh largest endowment of all colleges in the United States. All of Penn's schools exhibit very high research activity. In fiscal year 2015, Penn's academic research budget was $851 million, involving more than 4,300 faculty, 1,100 postdoctoral fellows and 5,500 support staff/graduate assistants

The university grounds including Locust walk and the superblock can really be beautiful in the spring, summer and fall. Lots of new restaurants are always opening so there's always a variety of different foods. Also, many buildings are historical and the architecture is absolutely gorgeous.

GIRLS: Don't go here unless you want propaganda that tells you to be a wh__e and if you want a creeper advisor who tries to come to your dorm at night and if you don't let him in then he tries to get you in trouble by reporting to the university that you are "missing"

Scott E

I am in the ER with my father for 3 1/2 hours now,he is suffering terrible from cancer and urinary retention, the manager comes out to talk to to her friend who has asked for her who is here with a family member. I had asked how much longer, he is suffering. Her friend was called back Who was here less than 1 hour. The Politics here sucks, my Dad wants to leave and go somewhere else. The only reason I am staying is because of his doctor an2 we are hoping to still get chemo today.

Great University

D/A/J/E/L W

The best university of the world, especially the Wharton School. Penn is better than Harvard in numerous aspects, as Penn continues addressing the contents while Harvard has gradually become more of a hollow symbol.

A great university full of very driven and diverse people.

Justin Justice

The most prestigious university in the area, and judging by average SAT scores, one of the 10 best in the nation. No surprise here; Penn is Ivy League.

Mansoor Basheer

Great business school!

Halima Robbins

We Love it Here! They have everything...movie theater, lots of diverse restaurants and clubs. It's like a community within a community, living together.

Sayheem Jones

Worst place to visit in case of emergency... thaws will make you wait 6 hours before getting to the back and 6 hours before being released if your situation is manageable from home. Please by all means.. skip this hospital any chance you get..

Francis Geldof

Never a dull moment, tons to see and do, lots to learn.

Rob Swift

It should be noted that even though UPenn staff and students constantly refer to themselves as Quakers, this is in fact NOT a Quaker institution and they share no affiliation with the Society of Friends.

Robin Jason

Very very nice university

The University of Pennsylvania (Penn or UPenn) is a private Ivy League research university located in the University City section of West Philadelphia. It has been ranked as among the top universities in the US and the world by numerous major education publications. University of Pennsylvania considers itself the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the United States though this is contest by Princeton and Columbia Universities

Wonderful campus & nice people here

Dropped by during a recent trip to Philly. This is the least visitor-friendly of all the Ivy League schools I've visited so far. There is no Visitor Center and visitor resources on their website are hard to find and poorly organized. The most useful self-guided tour map does not even show up on online search results. You can find it on their Admissions website - click "Visit" on the main page and in the next page, scroll to the bottom of the page to find the "Self-guided Walking Tour" link. As for the walking tour - I started at College Hall, a strikingly beautiful Gothic-style building with a green facade. This was easily the highlight of my visit. Next stop was the Quad, which is off-limits to non-residents so I only photographed it from the outside. Locust Walk was next, passing by the prestigious but plain-looking Wharton Business School building, some neat public art, and the Amazon Store before walking back to College Hall. Ended the trip at the University Book Store to check out the merch. From there, it was a 2-minute walk to the subway station at Sansom/36th for the trolley ride to downtown Philly. Two hours total. The Penn Museum would have been a nice stop but after two exhaustive days at the Philly Art Museum and the Barnes, I was done staring at art pieces. Maybe next time.

I wanna visit University of Pennsylvania on Christmas Day, pls wait for my comment and photos

Amazing and even trump went here

Fardin Khan

It's in the list of top 10 universities in the world

Mark Krepinsburg

Strange people over there. I regret my visit. I wish I did not have to know that my diploma came from there. Not like the old days where knowledge was the most important. Not sure where the American college system is heading, but it looks to be going down hill to me.

ganesh tadapaneni

How much should we have to pay as fee

Crystal bailey

We got in quick & seen quickly, which is rare from the last time I had to take someone to the ER.

Rajendra Rao

Great university in the heart of Philadelphia. My daughter went there for undergraduate studies and we used to go there all the time to visit her! Lovely campus but I wouldn't venture out beyond in the night time!

Ryan Goldstein

An amazing university that prepares its students exceptionally well for their future careers.

Austin Jackson

The campus that looks prettier when coated with snow. Old architecture mixed with modern comes together to provide great tours and Hackathons.

Skinny Pac

Go to Jefferson University Hospital's Emergency Room instead of Penn. Penn gives out water & warm blankets.... that's bc you'll be waiting every bit of 3,4,5 hours to be seen.

Akhil Shameer

Amazing Campus...feels like you step into the 1800s

Paul Zuo

The best ivy league school.

Maurício Fernandes

Nice campus!

Laurie Smith

I love my doctor, he is everything great wrapped up in one package. DR COURTWRIGHT is amazing. Ive been dealing with my issue for a long time, he is the first doc that makes me feel important, he talks to me, not my lungs. Thats very rare now-a-days he makes me feel special, not sick. Love love love, elbow bump!!

Emmanuel Arinze

I no longer work at Penn. Working there was a great experience and prepared me for my next job. The fellow who said you need to know someone there to get hired doesn't know what they are talking about. I'm a minority and I got hired without knowing a danged soul.

TERRIBLE! graduated in 1930, I'm in life support as we speak.

Giovanna Santoyo

Wow so I guess there are universities for sadistic people who bash heads of baboons and laugh at their pain disgusting sickening and inhumane school.

Hannah Bertinot

I'm at a debate tournament here, I just lost a round due to a judge that upenn recruited voted us down because three, 2 minute series of questions that you're not even supposed to listen too as a judge technically

Lovely women. Smart, meaningful statues around campus. Highly recommend driving and parking on campus. A breeze!

Ida Tursi

I have no respect for this hospital or there Doctor's from the Cancer Center. If anyone has Stage 4 cancer this is not the place to go The Doctors are not caring. They don't care at all about there patients. It's just to see how many people they can get in this hospital. Our daughter was under the care of the Perlman Center & the Doctors's told her that the chemo was working after 3 treatment, They told her at the age of 49 to set up hospice. Our Daughter passed away 4/3/18. I would never consider going to a hospital like Penn.

nate towns

Like someone else said, great place, but parking hard to find. Located downtown with two other colleges so there are more college students than there are residents. Great Philly steaks!

Twist way of life

My experience was great thank you google

isatu bah

My scheduled was for 2pm, I wasn't seen till 4pm. 4 weeks past after my lab work nothing was sent to my doctor , I have to beg for them to send my results. Release form was sent over and over again. Radiology department sucks.

Parking is tight, not too bad percentage cities places. The hospital is beautiful. But like all Hospital hurry up and wait

Nice campus

Kia S

Its all in who you know in order to get hired here. The Human Resources Department will not hire you unless you either know someone that can bring you in like family or friends. Other than that, basically don’t waste your time applying for a job here unless you like receiving rejection letters.

Bianca Rodrigues

Dropped off some friends here for the summer, and it was beautiful - great buildings and really expansive campus in the heart of the city. and there's tons of stores around everything.

Jerry Ecott

There out of control, buying up property and just sitting on them. Waiting for neighborhood to clean up. It's just unbelievable, our colleges are out of control! ✌

Patrice Alleyne

I will love to go to this school one day

Paul Perrin

This is a lovely campus, especially in spring when do much of it is in bloom.

NIcholas Jones

Went to the Villanova lasalle game at the Palestra today. Parking was absolutely horrendous. No system set up whatsoever. No one directing traffic for a major event. Just despicable. The parking garage also known as 32 Walnut, located at 3201 Walnut Street, is the worst parking garage I have ever been in. An elementary student could design a better garage. The people working had no clue what to do and were very rude when asked questions. People were double parked and there was no help to direct traffic flow. Getting out of the garage was even worse. It took us over an hour to get out and we were on the third floor. There was only one exit to get out and there was no one there to direct traffic flow. I felt bad for the people parked on the higher floors, it must have taken them two hours or more to get out. To make matters worse there was damage to my car. I can’t believe the University of Penn would allow this to happen. I am disgusted and will be spreading the word about our experience. Someone needs to be held accountable for this. It is absolutely unacceptable. The garage and lack of personnel made things very unsafe. The university of Penn needs to make changes so that people don’t have to experience this again. Extremely disappointed and upset with this experience.

Lawrence Chen

Awesome library. Awesome instructors. I think Penn can beat Harvard. Come and study here, you will not regret.

Mauricio Souza Neto

It's so beautiful and organized. The meetings were really well organized and the people are super friendly. The location is close to most things. Loved that!

Top university in US

Josh E.

While often overshadowed by other Ivies (Harvard, Yale, Columbia), this is still an amazing university full of history. The business school might just be the best in the nation and several of the Trumps went here so it's rolling in prestige.

Jaime Gines Morales

It's fine

Kayla Williams

This school seems so amazing!! I hope I can be able to go here in the fall of 20/20.

Chris Wirth

Alexander Herlihy

LMJ Carter

I am trying to get a vet assistant job and came across a lab technician job at their University. But, it was pertaining to taking care of the lab animals. I was upset about that and want to know what kind of animals they doing lab tests on. They should be exposed for what they are doing. I know they are some type of research university, but why do they have to use animals!!!!????

miguelito antonio estevez reyes

Is beautiful

Francis Sambrick

I love this neighborhood! It offers every type of person you can ever imagine from all cultures, races, sexual orientations and of course everybody has a multitude of hobbies and interest so nobody is left without somebody to connect with. The town or I should say the neighborhood is very accepting and welcoming I truly cannot imagine a person that wouldn't fit in here somewhere with someone. If you can't find something to-do hobby/friend here then you are obviously struggling with something a little deeper. Granted the crowd in the area is namely 22 to 35 but there are still a great deal of older citizens who are awesome and friendly. It has a pretty decent gay scene if you are looking for that and the college parties are near constant and out of this world!

マシューヒュン

Since I was not born before November 10, 1999, my dad went to this university to study more English with Pennsylvanian Dutch accent since after 1976 until before 1988.
