REVIEWS OF Clark State Community College, Springfield IN Ohio

I guess things have changed in 30 years, I got my nursing degree there. Instructors were wonderful. Support staff i.e. student affairs, student financial aid. My whole nursing degree was paid for. It's not all the school's fault, when it was time to try to get financial aid for my daughter. The answer was no way in hell. She's got student loans galore. And like one of the reviews I read, now, and in '86, they didn't make you take classes you didn't need. My daughter has more pre-reqs, than nursing classes. She got her LPN, then transition to RN, took almost 4 years and as much money. I didn't get it, an AD in nursing was for ppl that either could only afford a 2 year school, or didn't have the time. Now AD are taking 3, almost 4 years. We have waiting lists of 2-3 years to get into an AD program. Im disabled now, so don't nurse anymore, but asked my home health nurses, and hospital nurses, why the long wait? They said it wasn't worth the all the money you have to spend to get your MSN, or PhD, to become an instructor, when you can make 3-4X more money working the floor. There is something wrong I'd say.

Only been here for quarterly work meetings; only thing I could suggest is that it not be freezing in the conference rooms-it always is, no matter what time of year

I used to be in this school's Cyber Security and Computer Networking programs (which are not accredited). The school lied about the job outlook and salary. They also pretended to have their credits transferable to many local four year university's. Only two to three classes transfer (just general eds). This kind of behavior is a prime example of college is nothing more than a scam.

Randy Watkins

Horrible experience. I was lied to and had information withheld from me. It is against the law to discriminate against anyone based on physical or mental disability.

Chloe King

The professors are awesome, I have learned a lot from them, and most of the time they are very accessible through email. But, the staff is incompetent and honestly haven't helped me in any way. Half the time they have students working in their offices and the students are not only rude, but have no idea how to help you if you have a question. I went into the cashiers office to pay for a semester of classes and was told "This is how much you will owe IF you pay on time" and got a dirty look. The people in the records and registration office are nice and I feel that they're the only office that know what they're talking about and actually want to help you.

If you're looking for a good education, cooperative personnel, flexible scheduling, reasonable rates, and easy parking access - you should attend Clark State Community College! I received a great education from CSCC. The instructors are professional and really know the material; they also understand the challenges of balancing school and family life. The staff in every department are helpful - financial aid, records & registration, admissions, success center, library and IT. Tutoring is free and easy to access. The college has great study areas and is looking to improve all the time. This is a great place to get certified or get a 2-year degree. It's also a good choice to start at CSCC, take an Associates Degree, and then move on to a 4-year university as the price is extremely affordable - it just makes good sense to attend classes, for a few years, at a more reasonable rate. Also - all my 70+ credits transferred to Wright State and would have also transferred to Wittenberg and Franklin.

I can't even get in touch with a academic advisor. That right there is clue #1 on why I shouldn't attend this school. Smh

If you truly care about the future of you children then do NOT let them step one foot in this corrupt "college". This college is only out to suck as much money out of your child as they possibly can. They do not care about their students at all. On their facebook site the edit and pick and choose what comments they want to keep and what comments they do not want to keep. They delete certain comments that reveal the truth in order to make themselves look better than they really are. They took advantage of my son and treated him very badly. Do NOT go here.

Really helpful staff. Classes are filled with great education, love my professors so far! Nice community college.

The people who work here are very rude and can care less about you being successful. I took a class and never received a certification here and have got no reponse from the instructor or school. Don't waste your time here,Sinclair is a much better option.

Ashley Hatefield

I had a really hard time getting my classes right, Deltoria who works with the advisors took time out of her day to help me. She talked to me multiple times and never stopped helping. Thank you so much.

Love the diversity of courses, students, and instructors

Worst decision of my entire life. Go to a better college. I just hope this review helps save some people their precious financial aid and time. You deserve a good education so please do NOT go here.

Clark state has been an amazing experience to me. The staff and faculty here always go the extra mile to make sure the students have the best experience at school as possible. The student life is amazing here as well, the senate and ambassador programs are great avenues for students looking to be involved In leadership. Overall I am so grateful Clark state is doing such an amazing job

This "college" is absolutely terrible. I honestly cannot believe I wasted as much time as I did here. This place is nothing but a complete scam. Go to a real University instead.

A great place to take your general education courses. Tuition is very reasonable.

Clark State is an incredible workforce and economic development partner to the in Springfield and Clark County. Their aggressive approach to curriculum development and corporate training have become a hallmark of our successes with job growth. I know that when called upon they will produce incredible results but more important I know that they are always working behind the scenes to prepare our workforce for the opportunities that lie ahead. With that, brings a tremendous amount of confidence in their entire organization. Horton Hobbs IV Vice President of Economic Development The Chamber of Greater Springfield (Ohio)

I earned two degrees here at the same time. Many seem to complain, but I have found that in life you get out what you put in. This is a starting point for your career. If you think you aren't learning enough you should go above and beyond. Read more of the books that you're assigned. Reach out more to your instructors and stay after class. I recommend highly that you start internship in the beginning of your second year. The advisors and staff are there for a reason. They are there to help you. They want nothing more than for you to succeed. If you want to succeed don't get on here and give a bad rating. Get to work!

My daughter has been trying to reach out to Clark to attend this Fall and NOBODY has returned her messages or calls. So I decided to check into the ratings on this community college. After reading some of the reviews with low ratings I’m understanding why Clark will not return my daughters calls or messages. I’m willing to try one more time in the hopes of getting an explanation. However, if I cannot get a hold of anyone, then I will take it that this is my sign that Clark is obviously NOT the college for my daughter. I would rather look for another college for her to attend with a much better education. if Clark cannot get their stuff together to return messages and called to students that are wanting to attend a hen how can they have their stuff together to teach students. Like I said.... Some of the reviews I read here pretty much tells it all. Thank you for some of the warnings in the reviews.

DO NOT GO to the nursing school! But I know that students have no choice but to go and pour their money to this horrible nursing school. I BEG THAT SOMEBODY LOOK AT THE PICTURES OF THE GRADUATING CLASSES WHAT ARE THEIR LAST NAMES? WHY IS THE PASSING RATE OF THIS SCHOOL SO LOW? WHAT RACE ARE THEY? THIS AREA IN OHIO HAS AN AWFUL HISTORY OF SEGREGATION PERPETRATED BY TEACHERS AND NURSES.This area makes money off of the poor by purposely flunking them out of the educational system. Way to go Mary Cornell. Please somebody find a way to pull together a class action law suit. PLEASE SHUT DOWN THIS SCHOOL!!! You are forced to sign a waiver to hide their bias testing. Of course you are going to weed out people with confusing miss spelled, poor grammered tests. The final that you did not even write yourselves. How can you test on something you don’t know about? How can you waste a semester evading information then the test covers things that are not even on the book? What an easy way to make money. Testing on things that you do not even know if it’s on the exam? Way to pass students until it’s too late for them to withdraw. You pass only the few that are willing to suck up and stroke the teacher out of percentage points on these exams of nothing. Way to be bias and racist in dividing your class and have their grade depend on the answers on how ever you want. There is no real rhyme and reason. You just pass who ever walks up to you Dala Dewitt and if you like them you give those points out of these ridiculous quizzes. All of the teachers are part of this system. They are the daughters of Springfield Politicians. This is a huge political money train that feeds off the poor. Please somebody why is there no regulations on this? I can easily put together quizzes that do not make sense as a teacher/professor/adjunct then scan-tron in the good scores for the students I like. They say testing does not lie? Clark state lies and then they lower your score in order for a C average so they do not lose their nursing accreditation. Who can I call the news? There are no regulators the money is corrupt!

Campus is clean and nice to walk around. The applied science building is very modern.

This college is an absolute joke. Attended for two semesters. First semester wasn't awful, but this second semester has been a disaster. Ended up changing my major, and within the first week decided to opt out of classes. Advisors were rude and were not helpful with this decisions, my major was changed without consulting me- making the change more difficult, was dealing with advisors that were rude and commented on grades and my future plans by putting in their little quips . And the one class I was excited for was moved to the Greene, putting it out of my availability. I was never told of the move because it was an online class originally. This is an absolute joke. Clark State needs to check their priorities and help students out, instead of worrying about actually doing their jobs (what a crazy concept!).

MrMaxguy1

Don't waste your time The college pushes for unskilled people of color students to be passed. More fat to the unskilled worker fire. The teachers are callous and couldn't care any less about their students. They're all part timers only concerned about their pay checks. Teachers to steer away from are Filicko, Ramsey, the Everetts (the most unprofessional and bitter teachers you will ever meet.) and Schneider. (Especially if your political beliefs differ from his) Their wellness center is also disgusting and in need of repair. This college needs to be shut down

A majority of the positive reviews on this site are biased and are from the staff. Please, heed the warnings that you see here. Some of these positive comments come as a result of the staff coercing someone to post a positive review. Please, do not believe the positive reviews - for the sake of your wallet and academic progress. Coming to this college was nothing but a huge waste of time and money. By far the worst college ON THE PLANET. Please, go anywhere else but here. A lot of the credits do not transfer, the staff is rude and doesn't care about you, and a professor at Sinclair told me that they consider these classes to be sub-standard. Don't waste your time or money. The only thing they care about is your money. I understand that you may want to attend a community college because it's cheaper, but do keep in mind that you only get what you pay for and at clark state that isn't much! Low tuition fees = low quality institution. The professors are not here because they want to ensure the success of their students. They're here to collect a paycheck and enhance the appearance of their resumes.

This whole process of going to college has been a nightmare. It's impossible to get anyone to help with financial aid. I have visited at least three times this month and called/emailed countless times but can't get anything resolved. The college has made several errors on paperwork and won't admit the wrong doing is on their part. Please do not waste your time or energy on this place. If you want a great JUCO, then try Sinclair. They know what they are doing.

It is so incredibly difficult and annoying trying to contact ANYONE at Clark State. Trying to speak with anyone at all via phone during normal business hours during the day on a normal weekday is just a string of voicemail after voicemail and no one ever calls back. The only way to accomplish anything, even having a simple question answered, is to physically go to the school and deal with someone directly. And even then, probably 90% of the staff are not helpful and talk to you like you are incompetent. I am finally finishing up my 2 years at Clark State in order to get the classes that I need to transfer into a 4 year school. It has been a constant battle to get anything done at this school. The teaching staff HAS been very helpful, but the staff that work in the offices (testing center, records & registration, cashier's office) are so condescending it is unbelievable. After spending thousands of dollars every semester to attend classes here, you would think the staff would be just only SLIGHTLY more respectful.

I love Clark State. I've had great experiences through this school and feel fully prepared to get my BS at any university.

Caleb Sowards

Pretty dreadful experience. My recommendation is to get in and get out with a degree as quick as possible and start work experience. Profs are good, but admin/financial aid is a nightmare. I understand they must hate their job and have to deal with a highly dreadful student base, but in even writing this review, I am reliving the trauma of having to actually do business with these humans.
