Great School PERIOD! Negative reviews come from negative minds...

On 17 January of 2014, I applied for the VA Education Coordinator position at WTCC. I am a 36 year veteran of the US Army, with a 10 point VA preference and a MS, with a 4.0 GPA, as well as extensive experience with VA education programs.. Today is 14 May 2014, 4 months later, the HR site at WTCC stills reflects my application as being under review. A call to the HR office this date revealed that interviews were either in process or had been completed, and that a recommendation was being made. I did not even receive the courtesy of an email indicating that the decision had been sometime ago made that I would not be extended an interviewed opportunity, I suspect my age was a factor in the decision. I would expect there to have been a number of excellent applications submitted, but for the WTCC HR office, operating on behalf of the institution, to exhibit such a lack of common decency, particularly to an individual who served this nation for over 30 years is unconscionable. The fact that it took four months to fill this critical position, in itself, is reflective of a serious lack of system functionality or leadership.

Yes. it is terrible, confuse with any program, financial aid. Bad experience but some teachers were very helpful because these problems. Parking lot was good.

The main issue with this community college is the administration staff... Some of them are completely incompetent and others are downright disrespectful. My experiences with the registration office, veteran affairs, and financial aid office have been frustrating and generally unproductive... The only aspect of my Wake Tech experience that was somewhat redeeming has been some of my professors.. especially in the Emergency Medical Science division. They are phenomenal. Stay away from Main Campus if you can. That is where most of my problems have occurred. The Health Sciences campus is great. I have no experience with any of the other campuses.

Been waiting to talk to someone about an hour kept getting automation attention and not a human being. It's terrible how machines get employed to do nothing and people is out of work. This makes a dissatisfied student attend other colleges. If there is no help what do we do?

Brittney Holland

My experience with this school so far hasn't been very pleasant. I want to first start off by saying the admissions process is confusing. I've had numerous questions that I can't find the answers to online, so when I call the school I get transferred to someone's voice mail. It seems a bit odd. Why should I have to leave a message for someone just to get an answer to a simple question? Most of the advisers my husband and I have dealt with are completely nonchalant. They don't seem passionate about their jobs. That can be upsetting to a student that is serious about their education. When I speak with an adviser and they get smart with me, that doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth about the kind of education I will be receiving. I will admit, the staff at the north campus are more helpful, however, the program I'm trying to get my husband in is at the main campus. The main campus is just a big mess. They can't even take the time to properly speak with students to give them the help they need. I guess everything that I've mentioned is the price you pay for such cheap tuition.

Very good college! The staff was always helpful and the quality of education was excellent!

First I would like to say that most of the negative reviews made on Google are most likely made by new students who are not capable of, or have any desire to do any real classwork. Wake Tech does not hand out good grades just for showing up, which unfortunately has become the norm and I believe is what most student expect. If you think that you will attend Wake Tech and 'slide' through classes you are in for a wake up call. That said, I thought that the teachers at Wake Tech were extremely good and the classes I took to transfer into an Engineering program were difficult but manageable. Most of my teachers were N.C. State, Duke, and UNC alumni. Almost every teacher I had at Wake Tech had a very good attitude towards seeing me succeed in my academic career and seeing that I was getting the education I needed. Some of the staff in the administrative offices there are not very good at helping students but I believe it has a lot to do with the fact that they are very understaffed for the number of students now attending Wake Tech which has increased dramatically in the last few years. The North Campus is very new and the classrooms are often nicer than some of the classrooms I have seen at some universities. After attending Wake Tech for their Pre-Engineering program I was accepted to multiple different colleges for Aerospace and/or Mechanical Engineering. If this the avenue you plan to take, Wake Tech is a very good, cost effective option. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the library there is too small and their hours are bad. The library should be open all weekend so that students who want good grades can study in a quiet place whenever they need to.

The admissions office staff are rude! My son was born and raised in NC but b/c he does not have a drivers license they are trying to charge him out of state tuition. His high school transcripts are evidence he is and has been a resident but now we are having to jump through hoops to get his tuition rate changed to in-state. I have never in my life dealt with just rude admissions staff. I have dealt with Johnston Community College, NC State and Campbell University with my older children and they wanted to assist.

Jayeir Birks

First, it's college, and they don't offer payment plan for fall classes? Like why not. That's terrible, it could help a lot of students out.

I feel like most of the people who take the time to post a review of anything are those who most likely had a fluke of a bad experience, so I wanted to post a review of my experience yesterday. Every single person I dealt with in admissions and advising was fantastic. The advisor I met with was extremely knowledgeable of the admissions process, and of the program I was interested in. Albeit this was an initial contact with the College and its employees, but so far, a very positive experience.

I’ve spent 29 years teaching at Wake Tech and have taken a number of classes here too. I know what it’s like at Wake and I am telling the unvarnished truth about it. I’m retiring soon so it’s not about getting a promotion! Generally speaking the facilities, faculty and quality of education are really very good - in addition the price is still reasonable. Don’t be conned by private educational facilities that promise you a “great job” after graduation and then put you in a low end, minimum wage job where you can’t even afford to pay off your pricey school loans (this happened to a friend of mine). Go to WT and get a better education for a fraction of the cost - you will leave with real skills and THAT’S how you get a job - with knowledge. Plus Wake has a solid reputation with employers. Yes, there are aspects of the school that are unfortunate - I hear complaints from my students, and there are a number of policies that drive the faculty crazy too - much of it is due to the typical bureaucracy that seems inevitable with very large institutions. Is it really better elsewhere? Maybe. Maybe not. Nonetheless, if you go with the sincere desire and motivation to learn, and you treat your teachers and fellow students with respect - you will be supported by all and do well. The ILC really is a remarkable facility and is intended to help struggling students succeed. When it comes to the financial aid office I hear the best approach is to fill out ALL the paperwork that is required COMPLETELY and ON TIME. Follow instructions, that should go a long way to making the process easier.

Go somewhere else!!! I have been going here approx 4 semesters and not consecutively due to their horrible administration!!!! Financial aid office sucks it seems like every department lacks communication with each other and never knows what's going on! I have had issues with classes, registering, financial aid, getting books etc they all just seem lost and every answer for everything is I'm not sure idk why that's happening blah blah blah. I went to a university for undergrad and let me say this community college is no comparison you would think they would be faster and better since they are smaller uhhh NO!!! I am going somewhere else BC of my horrible experience!! I would advise anyone to go to a university get a great experience and be in debt before going here and I'm so serious!!!

Leah Johnson

Poor customer service. I had admin staff cut me off mid sentence and say they were going to transfer me before I even got to finish my statement/question. It was just the cherry on top after calling 6 different advisors and getting their VM every time and spending 5 minutes listening to phone prompts and going through an automated system.

I turned in all the documents they requested back in July, and still to this day Jan 5th, my documents are “pending approval” Ive spoken to so many people in the financial aid office and everyone tells me something completely different! Its not fair to me that because they ARENT DOING THERE JOB , that I have to sit out a whole year! The Finanicial aid office workers are lazy and dont care about you at all.

Certainly there's an allegory written in some language that can properly describe the degree of incompetence displayed by this institution; but that language does not exist on this planet. There's an adage that certainly applies, however. Fool me once, same on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Twice, the school's new "self-service" system removed me from my classes. I was ensured time and time again that I had taken all of the steps needed to be ready for classes to begin. Twice, those classes I had been removed from became filled within minutes. Twice I was told how unfortunate it was for me that I could no longer be in the classes that I needed to be in for my work schedule outside of school. You want me to pay 500% what the typical student pays per semester, while you thumb your nose at me? Not on your life.

Robert King

Very poor experience. I already have a bachelors in another field and was attempting to take classes toward an associates in Information Security Systems. Getting registered for any class requires permissions each semester. Lecture material for online classes is a link to different Youtube videos, with no original content from instructors. Course material is simple, yet does not prepare you for test questions. Financial aid is more complex than any other school I have attended. They will drop you without warning if their money is not in, even if this was due to an error with financial aid. And the staff is unresponsive to my complaints. It is as if they have no concern for any student. Do not waste your time or money here.

Cheri Allen

I am about to start my second semester at Wake Tech. I have had a wonderful experience so far. It seems some of the reviewers are complaining about things that aren't necessarily the school's fault. I haven't found anything about the registration difficult. People are always ready to answer my questions. Your experience will be determined by what you put into it. They wont coddle you and treat you as if you're still on high school, because you're not. Follow the rules set in place, don't wait until the last day to attempt to rush to register, or ask questions. And check your email, blackboard or web advisor. Ive never missed an important announcement, because I check often. I live an hour from the main campus, work full time and have two kids. But if I need answers to time sensitive questions, I will find the time to drive there to ask if I need to.

Your best bet, leave NC for College. Though the school is cheap, it's absolutely unorganized and sloppy. I've been taking an online course because I am unable to take the time to go in person. First issue I encountered was trying to sign up for a class. Continuing education people are the last to be allowed to sign up for classes, most are already full by the time you can sign up. Making it so only students who are completely enrolled in the school for one of their degree programs can sign up for anything they want. There is no price difference, but they still segregate. The Registration office will wait till after the payment deadline to contact you if you want to drop a class. I emailed the office a week before the deadline, and did not receive an email back till exactly 1 day after the deadline so they wouldn't lose my money. Taking an online course you would think that it meant "Online", but that is not the case. If you are needing assistance from an online teacher, don't expect that luxury that you've paid for. Some teachers, specifically coding teachers, will tell you that they will only assist you in person with limited time to offer you. I have had to miss work, just to get assistance from a teacher that would only offer a short time to give assistance in person. No remote assistance is offered, so unless you can go in person, don't sign up for online classes. Online classes don't give easy access to work with your fellow students, plus they are horribly setup. You will look to see your timetable for assignments from the Syllabus, but it's not updated for your semester and you will not know what is due till the teacher decides to post and let you know. UPDATE: I ended up dropping my class later in the semester, I got a 75% refund because when I was told the date of the deadline for dropping out, I was not told the truth. I took an online coding class, and the professor was no help at all.

This is the worst college when it comes to helping students and correcting the mistakes that this college constantly makes. I have been attending for almost a year and I have to wait to register for classes until all the seniors have registered and that leaves no courses needed for your degree left over so I have been constantly taking classes I do not need just to fill my schedule. I was told OH WELL when I called in and tried to get the classes I need. Anytime you try to call them, you have to sit through 5 minutes of recordings and then get to choose an option which leads you to another 5 minutes of recordings then you are forced to leave a voicemail but you will never get a call back. I do not recommend anyone attending this college, you would be better off at your local crappy community college than trying this place. Financial aid knows NOTHING and will give you the biggest runaround of your life when you ask them whats going on when they know it is a mistake on their end. I hate this school and this will be my last semester. DO NOT COME HERE if your education means anything to you.

Most of the bad reviews here seem to involve attempts to contact people by phone. I'll be graduating this spring and I've never called anyone in administration or any of my instructors. Email people! Everyone I've dealt with has stressed that if you have a problem or need assistance email them. I've taken both seated and online classes without any problems of consequence.Stay on top of your schedule and above all else register early! Have your funding options in order well in advance of registration time. Most of the problems people point out here seem to be self initiated. Everyone has been quite helpful. One final note concerning parking. Get there early if you have morning classes(well before 8) and you'll not have any problems. Trust me on this one it's a lot less stressful. The library opens at 7:30am so just chill there and get some homework done. Everyone on the main campus has treated me with the same respect that I afford to them.

Wake Tech helped me gain key skills before entering university. There were great instructors that actually pushed me to reach my academic potential. I'm a graduate of 2006 and after 10 years I have continued my education. I will soon graduate with a PhD in Educational Leadership & Cultural Foundations from another NC institution. If you're curious about higher education, Wake Tech is a good place to start/finish!

Great school, horrible administration, especially the financial aid office. If you have to pay your tuition out of pocket until your financial aid is awarded, sit the semester out.

Was trying to be objective when reading the reviews as my son's experience with his courses and professors has been excellent. He already had 15 credits from a semester at a different college and will have 52 total hours at the end of Fall 2018. He is transferring to NCSU and his contact there says he in on course having met the requirements for the degree program of his choice, so I can't agree with the people saying WTCC doesn't put them on right track curriculumwise to transfer. I can however agree that the financial aid office is a disaster, and they do not care. They do not return phone calls or emails. You are assigned an advisor who doesn't answer questions but tells you she'll get back to you within 48 hours. 10 days later and 5 times checking back, NOTHING. They do not follow up. You turn in required information and it does not get processed, but they tell you you missed deadlines even though the documents are date/time stamped and you can see it's been received. I'm going to stop short of calling them incompetent, but they are not diligent in their duties. I had to get remaining disbursements canceled at my last college in order to get a student loan at WTCC for the fall. WTCC simply canceled my student loan and NEVER TOLD ME WHY then wanted me to call and ask another financial aid office to change their enrollment dates. When they refused and cited Dept of Education procedure for awarding my loans concurrently, CRICKETS. Not a word. Frustrated.

The admissions process is the worst for people that are transfer students. They tried to make me take a placement test even though I had already took one a few years ago. I spoke to a lady who was soft spoke but very non-chalant and didn't care to resolve my issue. Save your money and go to another school!!

There are a number of students - or, prospective students - reviewing Wake Technical Community College (WTCC), below, who are using one criterion for issuing one star: a singular bad experience. Having now had ten teachers over eleven courses (on-campus courses and online courses), thus far I have had only one professor whose course I did not enjoy whatsoever (he treated his classroom as though it were the last of his priorities). Too, I have heard tell of others like him. I sent an e-mail regarding this professor's behavior to the Dean. Though I had no response, the instructor made the improvements suggested within my e-mail (for those of you who need that further explained: someone spoke to the professor). Wake Technical is exactly that: a technical school. The school's main curriculum is taught by people whose experience you would not believe (one teacher having worked for IBM, another for NASA, etc). Your professors at Wake Technical Community College will have the training and experience that counts. Too, the good ones will seek to stretch the curriculum beyond its limits, ensuring you walk away with not only an understanding of the practical 'stuff', but also the theory as to why the 'stuff' works the way it does. Again, as with any school, there are those professors who do only the minimum - and, of course, this is frustrating for anyone who wants to learn. The Admissions Department? I showed them some empathy and general human understanding - a skill seeming to be lacking in a growing number of American families - and they were brilliantly helpful, proactively ensuring I was prepared for the coming semester and providing me with step-by-step instructions. Yes, absolutely, without a doubt their phone messaging system is redundant; but, if you remember to be kind, 'they' are in return. Wake Tech. has 60,000 students (?) and one Department is managing that. I give them a two thumbs up for all the crap I am sure they handle. Go to Wake Technical. Expand your mind. The wide variety of things they have to offer a pretty freakin' sweet.

This school is owned and operated by the good ol' boys of North Carolina, the institution does not care about the students, soley their profits. It actually does not deserve any stars. My first semester a teacher gave me a 98, only listed positive feedback, when asked why she deducted points she stated she never intended on giving anyone a 100. This has been the consistent tone of most interactions faculty and staff. Many of them are racists, cannot interact with students of color as they do their own, I have observed this throughout my three years here. They do not expect for students to advocate for themselves, which is why many of them behave the way they do. Furthermore, the schools in NC have colluded to make it difficult for students who have ALREADY earned bachelors in fields that are beyond their small scope to earn additional degrees. For example, I was told by John Bakken that the school will not transfer courses that are within an area of study if they are too specific. In other words, because the classes I took are beyond the scope of what Wake Tech is capable of teaching I would have to take entry level classes. But in the beginning showed how much he lacked respect for me by not even having the professional decency to shake my hand when we met, he definitely exudes the energy of someone who does not socialize with people different from himself. These decisions were obviously made to guarantee income from students who want to continue their education. If this is not indicative of snake like behavior, I do not know what is. I realize this is an affordable option for most, but if you can avoid it do not give this institution your money or time.

horrible 0 stars if possible. Don't expect to complete a 2 year degree in 2 years(in reality it takes 3-4).Advising sucks! They are more focused on getting money and enrollment up. GOOD LUCK TRANSFERRING they want to keep you as long as they can. also they tried to get me to sign up for a different program(don't do it,numbers are low right now which is how they get students). also rude staff. they are so uptight, its a community college not university(don't think they realize that).

I've been in my first semester at wake tech. And honestly everything has gone smoothly and everyone has been super nice to me. I don't know why people are giving it bad reviews

It’s an update from my last review at Wake Tech. I was complaining that it takes longer to get an associates degree but it’s worth the time. Most state schools in NC accept your credits. Even, I’ve applied to an out of state school and they said all my credits would transfer. However, it contradicts what one advisor said. I advise to contact the people whatever school for transferring because they will recommend the correct courses to take. Wake tech is really good! It’s a shame to see reviews as just admissions process and instead of reviewing the college as a whole. The professors are great. There is a math and English center to help you if you struggle in these types of courses, it’s called the ILC. This is a great institution. It’s a shame to see the complaints down below. Contact them by email and visit them in person they are responsive.

Had a TERRIBLE Anatomy & Physiology teacher, and the administration didn't do a thing about it. The class average for one of the lab practicals was in the 30s (an F minus average) and 12 out of 20 people failed it in my lab. This isn't a surprise since the teacher doesn't really teach, in lab she tells us how to pronounce certain words and then we're on our own. The only people who have been excelling in her class have either taken A & P before, or are drawing from material outside of the class. I did well on my first test by googling everything, and I know another student did well on the lab by watching youtube videos. Considering the class was hundreds of dollars, this is completely unacceptable, wake tech owes google and youtube our tuition. The teacher also brings an attitude to class, except for her favorites, who she will give hints to as she goes around the room during our tests! I complained, and went all the way up the ranks to Tonya Forbes, the Vice President of Arts & Sciences. She oscillated between acting sympathetic and implying that the problem was really that the students were lazy or slow. She told me that there was a center on campus to help students study and that many students aren't accustomed to studying for college classes. I told her I already had my bachelor's degrees and she asked me what it was in, and I told her in social science. She said that her degree was in Chemistry and that she took social science classes because they were "fun and interesting," then proceeded to imply that my undergraduate degree hadn't prepared me for this science class even though I had told her a couple of times that I already had a background in A & P, being a massage therapist! So rude and disrespectful. Like they expect students to fail....unless you're Tonya Forbes and got a undergraduate degree in Chemistry.

I taught engineering courses at Wake Tech for 5 years. It is an excellent learning environment providing top notch mathematics, physics, engineering and general education courses. With the Associate in Engineering degree, you can transfer to any university accredited engineering program to complete a Bachelors degree. And the cost is significantly less than at the university!

MICHELLE ASSIATTE

First off advising at Wake Tech is a complete JOKE!! It is like a revolving door of students, one after another they just call your name, you walk in and the "advisor" just hands you a sheet of paper which says you need these classes and she highlights them and you are out the door and then the next victim comes in. Financial aid office is THE WORST, they return your emails 2 weeks TOO LATE and give you a basic answer for something that required more attention. If you are missing something they do not tell you until after the deadlines, don't bother calling them because you sit through prompts to just sit on hold for another hour to speak to someone who can't tell you anything anyway.

While Wake Tech might be a excellent facility for education and generally employs amazing teachers, the staff is absolutely terrible. I have experienced problems with every last thing with them, sending transcripts, registering, dealing with other college relations, pulling files. I have caught them throwing out 5 requests i made formaly on paper. One time they managed to not send three of my transcripts. They also suffer from a glitchy site that they wont admit sometimes doesnt work. Great classrooms but good luck dealing with the front desk or even expecting they'll try and help you

Probably one of the worst Technical colleges in the state. Don't try to call to talk to admissions because no one will answer the phone, the receptionist (Missy) sounds asleep, and they will tell you that the best way to talk to someone is to just drive to the building, even though you live 2 hours away. You think since you were forking over all your money to go here that they would have some sort urgency to deal with any issues you may have with admissions. Steer clear.

Wake Tech was awesome when I first went there. Since I have been back, financial aid and the customer service has been terrible. The employees there act like you are supposed to know everything and when you don't, they have an attitude. If we knew the processes of everything, why come speak to you? Also, If you graduated, they make it terribly difficult to get another degree and financial aid. This school has went down the drain and I can not wait to get out of here! They used to be so helpful, but now it seems like they are so annoyed with the students. I am trying to get a degree, not an attitude.

Wake Tech is a double edged sword in my opinion. The availability of courses in my field of study was immaculately higher than UNC, DUKE, or NCState. These traditional universities only have 1 career path when Wake Tech had 5+ career paths. Teachers are half and half. Some care more than others. Some teaching styles are horrendously negative to the student when others were amazing, meaningful experiences. This is the only piece of advice about Wake Tech that you need to know, and they really need to change policies or something. If you need to do anything official with the school (financial aid, parking, registrars, etc) anything that has to be done with a wake tech employe.....DO IT AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. EVERYTHING takes FOREVER to do...and if you do it early you'll be fine.

THE WORST PLACE EVER! I was told for Ms. Zanita Evans (Admissions) that my tuition rate it was going to be as an in state student, I gave the campus all my private and legal documentation. I took my test (5 hours), my orientation (1 hour), my blackboard (3-4 hours), I spoke with my advisor, EVERYTHING. And for my surprise when I was about to register my classes and make the online payment, my tuition rate was still as an out of state student. I came to the campus more that 5 times even took off from work to be here and get that changed. NOBODY gave me an answer, they just apologized because I was told the wrong information. This people don't care about your time, don't care about the money you spend, about anything.

I've been told to appear in the afternoon only to be told the staff leaves every day before then... by the after hours answering machine. When I asked the only person who worked at the school, who was still present at the time I was told to arrive, for assistance they said, "No habla inglés." After they refused to process my paperwork and refused to respond to me at all, I finally got through with a letter to the Dean of that department. Who apologized and my paperwork finally got processed. But I've had enough. I'm taking my GI Bill elsewhere. Except now I have to go pay $5 to get my test scores sent to a better college for not enrolling in course classes.

Make sure to look up the outstanding classes of The Small Business Center for Small Businesses

Andrew Lee

Excellent community college with a moderately large campus and good staff

As a student who has already attended a university and graduated, this place doesn't teach kids what an actual college experience is like. Assigned seats, being told I can't use the bathroom during class, biased fews from a professor who straight up told us she was a feminist and to deal with it and kids who act like this is a giant high school, because it pretty much is. Administrative staff are generally unhelpful and sometimes rude. God forbid you try to reach them on the phone. Not impressed

Thomas Gambill

It's a great school, offers many programs and it's very cheap. The teachers are amazing very helpful!

very annoying my spouse went in there 3 times for nothing. she just wanted general information regardinging certification classes. first time she went in there they said they needed her transcripts to he able to speak to somone like an advisor. second time they made her do an application and asked for more information she didnt have with her, why they didnt tell her in the first place is beyond me. third time she sits down with an advisor and they gave her price for a classes but couldnt give her details regarding the programs. throughout this whole process multiple people approached her as though they were selling off of commission. the advisor couldnt even tell her if the courses are for preparation for the certification, do get a certification with these courses and if they even offer the certification test? waste of time. period. and fyi if your going to have advisors and staff trying to sell students atleast have a better process as well as make sure they are prepared with information when questions are asked. Lastly, after all of this can you believe they enrolled her classes! the bs. i swear. not even telling her they enrolled her in classes for an associate's program when she had informed everyone along the way that she has already graduated with a BBA. cant believe this.

It’s a great community school , you have to be involved in your own education . The bad reviews are obviously people who are looking for someone to make decisions for you . If your an adult concerned about your education and looking for the best education for your buck . You found it!

Michael Otranto

They offer great small business seminars for FREE and have a great continuing education series as well!

Tricia Brown

This has been the most discouraging processes I've ever experienced trying to get into school. I have been on a merry-go-round with Wake Tech since July and it's the end of November! Unbelievable!

This school is a nightmare. The VA reps and financial aid admin are not there to help. They pass you off to other people all the time and rarely take the time to help you succeed. I have issues with my courses every semester and Advisers at the Main campus refuse to talk to me because I'm a "Health Sciences Major". Every time I call to resolve an issue whether it is with FA, VA, or advisory I am passed off to leave voicemails. They change curriculum all the time so even if you spend semesters earning credits for a program they end up changing the requirements so you have to back peddle your way through school with no light at the end of the tunnel. They just want your money and enjoy screwing students over. I can't wait to transfer and get out of this money pit.

Don't believe any of these people with negative rates. The truth is, wake tech is as good as you make it. People mind their own business, but at the same time, if you ask are willing to help you. A lot of people take classes at wake tech, parking lots get crazy full, so keep that in mind. I enjoyed wake tech, it was my first semester there and overall I can say it is peaceful and fair. Your grade will show the effort out into the class. Administration is a bit confusing online, but special services are offered on campus with people ready to help you individually with any question you have. It's great! (The cafeteria has decent food and a little cafe, but it can get crazy in there at times...but the center of Fuaquay Varina isn't far)

I don't understand why you have to wait to see if your funds are released at the bookstore or not. Not in my case and now I have to wait an hour to get them released when Im sure the award is there

Scott Tayor

if you go here, they offer good career training. know what you want to do before hand.

Victoria Andrews

The administrative staff is so rude, and the financial aid staff they talk to you like you are stupid. I had one lady who talked to me, getting smart with me. I do not like this school at all.

Had a good experience at Wake Tech because of the instructors and the ILC staff. However, there are two librarians who are rude. Parking is pretty bad. There are some bathrooms that are never clean. The advising receptionist never says "Hi."

Sherri LaVerdiere

I had the best experience last semester. I am a non-traditional student going back to school after a long duration away from academics. Wake Tech staff are so carring about my needs and struggles. I felt so encouraged to not give up on myself even when learning to use devices and media made it very hard at times. I am starting my second semester next week and am very excited to continue working with this wonderful staff and facility. I know I will have an even greater experience. Thank you all so very much. Sincerely, Sherri LaVerdiere

I live in Greenville and trying to sign up for classes at Pitt was nearly impossible as staff there did not respond to emails or phone calls within two weeks (in fact, I'm still waiting to hear from them, but honestly don't expect to). On the other hand, I've found that Wake Tech usually responds within two hours (I've contacted the registrar, financial aid, and at least one other administrative department) and they are extremely helpful. Thanks to their responsiveness, I was actually able to register on time for the classes I wanted this summer. Furthermore, they also allow you to order textbooks from their store online, saving me at least two hours of driving.

John Pusey

Not such a great experience so far! I you feel like wasting your time and money you will get both here! No point in actually going to school when everyone focuses on the online aspect so much right? Why even pay? Just google it. So i've been told by my own "professors". A robot could do their job.

I can't even begin to tell you the trouble I've had w/ Wake Tech. Unless you're paying for your schooling out of your own pocket or have a private loan don't expect any type of assistance or help from the financial aid office. Now, I will say that I love the curriculum and faculty. Every professor I've come into contact with has been super professional, nice, and eager to help when it comes to the courses. As far as the staff, like some of the other reviewers stated, they don't care. They aren't helpful and always seem like they have an attitude and don't want to be at work. I've had endless problems w/ the financial aid office. I called a representative to get a question answered about financial aid in mid-September, and she politely returned my phone call IN DECEMBER!!! It makes no since at all. Somethings always wrong w/ their systems, and the library just updated their Windows XP software to Windows 7 a couple of months ago. Lastly, I first attended WTCC when I was 17 and didn't take it seriously, and withdrew from a lot of my classes and it affected my GPA. Started back @ WTCC Fall 2012 and acheived a 4.0 GPA, Spring 2013 they are telling me that I can't attend b/c of the mistake from 8 years ago. Overall, if I was blessed enough to not have to EVER apply for financial aid, deal w/ staff, or fill out appeals for my GPA from 8 years ago, I'd gladly go to Wake Tech.

Ok so my experience with this school has been a challenge, it really depends on the teacher you get. One semester I didn't do so great but it was because the teacher was lazy and didn't care. Took the same class the next semester and passed with a 96.00. You have to study hard if you want great results.

Jesse Parrish

Wake tech financial aid is THE WORST EXPERIENCE I think I have ever had to deal with. The staff never brings you certainty. I called and went there multiple times to turn documents in BY HAND because when I submitted them online, it literally would get lost or would never be shown as complete. Every time I call or turned documents in, I was told I “SHOULD” be done, or this is “PROBABLY” the last thing I have to do, or you are “MOST LIKELY DONE, but keep an eye on it”. This process took me 3 months which is unacceptable. The financial aid office is horrendous at their job, I was told incorrect deadlines which pushed my refund off a MONTH. They have no sympathy or sense of urgency when it comes to people getting their school money. Along with this, I paid a semester out of pocket because my financial aid process too entirely too long. Started the process in July with a semester that started in late August and didn’t get it in time. That is RIDICULOUS. Then, my refund was shortened because a class I already paid for “wasn’t in my curriculum”. Just know, this is going to be a grueling, frustrating, and frankly annoying group of people to work with when it comes to getting your financial aid. Prepare yourself for a disaster.

This is an excellent place to take classes. I really enjoy taking adult evening classes here.

I am very satisfied with the education that I received from Wake Technical. All the staff were most helpful from the admissions office to instructors. I was 1 of 2 people to graduate with honors in the history of the coarse. God bless the workers from the help lab cause I wore them out checking my revised reports...

Can't believe they are allowed to have the word "college" in their name. The administrative functions are awful. You may find someone who knows something but it will take time. The teachers are fine for credit non-credit classes I have taken / are taking but services suck. Can't figure out their hiring process but the administrative people are poorly inspired with little knowledge of how things work e.g. parking, student ID - very frustrating to my generation who believe you are responsible for functions related to your job title.

Haley Bohn

i was very disappointed in Wake Tech they pride themselves for there online learning and teacher dedication, yet every teacher i have had could care less. I advise against Online Learning.

I don't know how there are so many bad reviews. This school is pretty good! It goes above and beyond to help students academically by providing tutors for free. They make sure what they teach is on level with NCSU so are getting a quality education. There are always people there to edit your papers if you need it. The teachers are simply awesome! They will not only lecture with passion, they try and make sure you understand. I've never had teachers who care so much. They are also very kind and interesting people. Now for ***THE BAD PART*** Its true, financial aid was a mess; I missed a semester because they never got my financial aid ready. And beware, advisors really push getting an associates on transfers but DO NOT fall for it! At north campus there are not many food options. There are not nearly enough clubs. Many students seem to wonder alone. There isn't much to do but go to classes here so it's a pretty boring time, but that's okay because academics are most important!

D G

Horrible, this school is run by bureaucratic retards, anything administrative is impossible and takes days and is so frustrating you will probably give up. They just screwed me by not letting me take a final exam because I didn't have the right ID, and I was given no notification about this at all, they will screw you over and over.

Trenton Zophy

Danon Salonis-McGrew

They rarely answer the phones and very rarely call back. They do not do their part even after you've done everything you are supposed to do. They canceled my classes and told me I have to register under new sections literally a week before the classes start. Now they are saying the classes are full. This place is ridiculous, all my problems have come from financial aid not following through and registration. It should not be this difficult to get an education. When getting my Bachelor's it was not nearly this difficult.

Meaghan Hammond

4/5 stars for the professors at Wake Tech, they are all so intelligent and helpful! 1/5 stars for the other faculty and staff. Every time I communicate with the staff at Wake Tech, they speak to me in such a disrespectful tone, like I am the dumbest person on earth. They will go to no efforts to help you or answer any of your questions. And they always look so sad, like they hate their job. Never seen anything like it before.

Kim Williams

Brian Willis

Absolutely horrible administration. Like my instructors but the whole experience had been quite vexing! I personally believe they are here to defraud the students and the government. They have no empathy for their students or the financial burden the students are incurring while attending their facilities. The different departments do not have communication between themselves. I had to provide separate transcripts for different departments, why?, because they say so. Never in my higher education have I come across such incompetence from an institution. Now I have to find where my financial aid award has gone to Why sho

Not the best experience. I went to wake tech as a part of the CCP program aka for high school students. It’s great you can get credits in high school already and it’s free but the process is AWFUL. They try to make it as complicated as possible and very confusing. Wake tech is very unorganized and not very good at communicating. The staff is also super rude and not understanding. Be prepared.
