Craven County community College is a joke. The financial aide office cannot do student loans, guessing because they are absolutely abismal at retention/graduation rates. The school cannot seem to get the administrative paperwork together for either mailing out transcripts correctly (have proof that they were requested, but never sent) or for reporting to the FAFSA/department of education that you are actually enrolled, so you have to pay on previous loans while attending full time because they cannot get your stuff together. And then when you complete a program with only SIX graduates, they cannot get the paperwork to the state board/testing authority in the promised amount of time. It's not like there are 50 ot 60 records that need to be processed. Nevermind the fact that a syllabus is a "suggestion of grading and required work", with things being added at the whim of a program director, or required time allotments to complete work changed whenever the staff decides. Stay away. Go to Lenoir or Carteret if you need a community College. No community College could be worse!

I have been here several times for events. Small business round table, etc. I also have my hair done here at the Beauty School. Miss Abby does a great job on my hair. I only put 3 stars because I have not really been on the whole campus. Wonderful people.

Last night, I attended one of the Craven Community College Small Business Center classes ‘Beyond Ordinary Networking’ with Martin Brossman. The class was fantastic, and greatly exceeded my expectations. A special thank you to Rebecca Moorer, from CCC, for putting this class together. I look forward to attending more of the Small Business Center’s classes, and I hope to see Martin Brossman back at CCC soon. I am especially interested in the opportunity to attend his Google + class, and I highly recommend attending.

workforce development doesn't have the best communication. The website should be more in depth of what you need and what you're walking into! I am use to knowing who my instrcutor/professor is before the first day of school and a list of school supplies that I will actually need and have an email to ask my instructor questions instead of being bounced around the whole building trying to figure out things! My instructor on the other hand really is amazing and makes class enjoyable! Would give 5 stars, but to me communication is everything!

I always enjoy the classes held at the Small Business center at Craven Community College. The classes they offer with Martin Brossman are priceless. The facilities are kept clean and the learning environment is comfortable for adult learners. Highly recommend their programs for new and existing business owners.

Classes are amazing with great professors. My issue is the process each semester whether it's admissions or financial aid. Lack of communication and professionalism. One example was my address was changed and they almost charged me for out of state prices and I went in to fix it. The woman who was dealing with this issue didn't have the decency to speak to me face to face. Instead she saw me and hid in her cubicle to avoid me. I wish it was a one time deal but it's every single semester I get a call saying there's an issue!

Clean campus, Helpful staff.

Don't understand why the bookstore staff ( only one lady) had to be so rude to my son when he asked a simple question, and when he said okay, thank you, she walked off. Funny thing is...he remembered her from the spring semester. So disappointing.

I have had the worst experience here. Every semester there have been problems/issues with Pell Grant pay our, admissions, and Scheduling problems that I have been registered at this college. With one more semester to complete before earning my associates degree I have decided to apply to a different college due to the incrediblely bad experience I have had with this college. There was an extreme lack of communication between staff and the student body especially in my case. I was not even scheduled for my ACA class (one in which all students should take their first semester) I did not even know what it was. I am now in the ACA class and it is completely useless because I had to figure everything thing out on my own (I already know all information being presented to me) I have a 3.8 GPA and am a good student. If you receive an education from this place is is a byproduct of your own hard work and of them making money off of you/your Pell Grant and not them wanting you to succeed. I would not recommend this college to anyone for any reason.

The Small Business Center here at the college is fantastic! Great FREE classes, workshops, guest speakers and resources. It has helped me and my business, New Bern Paperless Marketing, tremendously! Rebecca is the best! Take advantage of it today. :)

Great array of adult learning opportunities.

Went through nursing school there in 2000-2001. Excellent teachers. Was working full time while going through school and they worked with me as much as they could. Would not have gotten though it without their support.

Martin Brossman

I always enjoy teaching social media and web marketing here for the Small Business Center. It is a beautiful campus within driving distance of the wonderful downtown New Bern. They have a very active small business community with a clear commitment to help each other. Make sure to check out the Small Business Center and resources if you plan on starting a business or want to grow your business. The Small Business Center at Craven provides both one on one consulting and class to help you become more profitable.

As a returning student and older adult (I attended Craven right after high school several years ago) I am disappointed in the quality of instructors and instructional materials at Craven. I most recently attended Pitt CC and am blown away at the difference in quality between Pitt and Craven. Craven's laboratories and instructional materials seem to be from the 1970's and two of my current teachers were hired literally days before school started and are some of the worst instructors I've ever experienced. Another problem I'm running into is the ridiculous bookstore racket at Craven. I paid well over $500 for three classes, and received only one actual book. The others are online "codes" and no paper book, although the books they're using aren't all that great anyway. I sincerely hope that Craven will start investing in some new lab materials and quality instructors rather than pretty building facades and offices for administrative staff. If you have the opportunity I highly recommend going one county over to Pitt CC, especially if you're going into any sort of medical field that requires A&P or Chemistry so you have some instructional materials from this decade.

I have dealt with numerous community schools, but none have come close to what Craven offers. Their staff is consistently proactive in their efforts to help the student. I found it refreshing from past experiences.

Heavenly Craven Community College the nicest thing that ever happen to me. CCC is of the utmost practical pleasant learning environment not to be missed. 1 Million per cent better than university. Parents send their children off with high expectations to big universities where students are swallowed up and they can easily disappear. Some universities have a 90% attrition rate of Freshmen drop out and failure. The dorm experience at university can be a series of nightmare rituals and students find themselves feeling hopeless lost and in horrendous debt. The smart start is to attend Craven Community College. Take all the classes you want to take. Keep coming back until graduation and then attend the university classes for a bachelors degree on the Craven Community College Campus. Stay local. Live good. Study in an aesthetic garden like environment where you can breath easily relax walk between classes. On break with your classmates or by yourself; You All can even chat with the Vice President. The doors are wide open to keep you coming back for more wonderful learning and skill set upgrades. You will love the college. It was the happiest special place to build yourself up. Don't miss out. If you live in New Bern; Apprenticeship programs are in the offering and work study is most opportune for students. The price for an education at Craven is an enriching empowering bargain of a life time. The campus Chief of Police Colonel Jay Logan held bible classes for us at lunch time. If you have a love for golf and leisure sports;A degree is on the table as a degree in aerospace technology. The library is quiet and the computer lab is well managed even in the hours of the evening. Ample parking and micro minutes in travel time. The teachers are always available for consultation between classes. If you require tutoring one on one;The math lab is open with qualified work study students ready to help you. You will feel safe learn a lot make Friends and be blessed with permanent memories of the happiest investment of your life;An education unlocking a multitude of doors for you The Student.
