I feel great about my experience at Manhattan. As a small school, its pros and cons are foreseeable: it has the benefits of comfort, with the drawback of limited in-house resources. It's not too far from the big atmosphere of NYC, whose appeal is universal, but also provides a unique social "college experience." The English department's tightly knit and super focused persona encourages their students to succeed thoroughly in the classroom. In retrospect, the School of Arts' "heads-down" approach was a bit isolated from the application of an arts degree, but their diligence is admirable. Overall, I learned a lot there from great professors and met some great people.

I went and toured this school on July 27. It has a campus, which is unusual for most NYC schools. The outside was beautiful, but the inside was very outdated. It feels like a 1950s Catholic school house. The classrooms were small and had chair desks jammed closely together. The dorms were not very inviting, and had a prison-like feel to them. If this college was up to date and modern, it would be a wonderful fit. A college counselor told me to tour this school, not telling me why, and now I know why. I was disappointed.

Their security personnel should be brought up on charges for abusing their power, being big bullies, and for kicking innocent alums or alumna off the campus without the alumni being able to rebut and rebuke false charges. These people in the security squad place a gag order on all departments and prevent them from talking to you. This is NOT RIGHT, coercive, and criminal! Even worse if you have been banned from stepping on your Alma Mater's soil for 20 years only because a former director of counseling breached confidentiality and informed the head of security of a false allegation, simply because you came out as Transgender in 1999! Talk about discrimination and HELLO! Its 2019!! SMFH!! And those that were responsible for defaming MY name should be denied any pension or any promotional benefits they got at MY expense! On another note, while I did graduate with a BS in Business and was satisfied with the education, there are other colleges and universities that offer better programs but, most of all, a welcoming community free of discrimination.

Graduated 2009 BS in Communication: Corporate. Manhattan is a nice small Catholic School located in nicest part of the Bronx (Riverdale) and it has access to Manhattan via the 1 train or if you take the Metro North. At only 3,000 plus students the school has an almost high school vibe, but the teachers are top notch since the class sizes are small. The food is literally the worst food ever and the bar scene in meager unless you go into Manhattan. The school is very well known for its engineering department. If you are not an engineering student good luck finding an internship or job after college since job placement and alumni connections are poor for non engineering students. Most students come from Westchester County or New Jersey so don't expect much diversity. To be honest Manhattan College is a good school but it's mostly for the kids who couldn't get into Fordham or NYU and defiantly not Columbia. If I had to do it again I would have looked at Iona in New Rochelle or gone to Fordham.

Commuting as an engineer is a terrible idea. The parking lot given to the engineering students is terrible. Rain=floods, winter=falling ice (which hits cars and students), dripping water leaves stains on your paint, and the potholes ruin your suspension. Manhattan College does car about the commuting students, they continue building up other parts of the school but will not fix the Leo lot. When the lot runs out of space and your are in a rush you must drive across Riverdale to park at the main campus. If you park in any other lot by the engineering buildings you will get a $40-80 fine. If you are commuting and plan on doing engineering do not look at Manhattan College.

That campus was nice and personal . Warning there are a lot of stairs. I loved the unique dining hall options. Overall I was quite disappointed with the presented dorm I saw on the tour. There were flys in the bathroom and holes in the furniture. I was disappointed that was what I was supposedly to get excited for. Other than that the tour guide was nice and the campus was beautiful. Please try and fix your furniture for future students.
