REVIEWS OF Columbia College IN Missouri

I received my B.S. Business Administration, Finance degree from Columbia College. I found taking a combination of in seat and online 8 week courses both challenging and rewarding. I have always found and appreciated the professors of my courses having real world knowledge and experience shared in the courses. In particular, the business simulation capstone at the Crystal Lake, IL campus is impressive given it is utilized in many MBA programs. I have always found the administrative and counseling support at both the local and Columbia locations as being outstanding. I had attempted to finish my degree at various institutions and ultimately found Columbia College as the right program for me as a working professional. I would highly recommend Columbia College to anyone considering attending. The key to academic success is personal commitment and investment in ourselves.

I'm currently enrolled at CC. This is the best college I've ever been to. The faculty is understanding and very helpful. They actually care about your education. My advisor was by far the best. She helped me through some very tough decisions and helped me to make the best financial decisions. I visited the enrollment center 3 times to change classes due to my own reasons and all three times they were understanding, helpful, and encouraging. I also went to the enrollment services about my financial status multiple times throughout the year and they were always there to help. They showed me my financial plan exactly including scholarships, loans, and grants. They explained everything to where I could understand and even printed me copies of my plan. BEST COLLEGE containing the VERY BEST PEOPLE! The other reviews that had one star and rude comments, it's because of their stupidity and closed mindedness. This college is truly amazing and makes you feel apart of the community, on or off campus.

Kyesun Yim

It has been moved to the new good place. And the college has excellent teachers, kind staffs and giving motivation to students to study.

I feel like I truly missed out on the college experience going here. I never saw guys, there is no way to really access town without using the buses, and half the teachers write their own textbooks. The view out the dorm Windows tends to be a tree or a parking lot. Preference is given to sports people as usual, and the science department was so underfunded that half the equipment was outdated. Textbook costs were routinely over 700 a semester, for compsci. And I was downloading half my books for free!! Not to mention that tuition has only gone up drastically. You can get a better education for cheaper elsewhere. Like USC.

An excellent school offering a wide variety of degrees at the Associates, Bachelors and Masters level!

I'm attending Columbia College's Jefferson City campus for some evening classes.

I thought my experience as an online student with CC was great! The admissions staff was great and easy to deal with. 5 Stars!

Michael Lam

Great local school. Large slate of online and night classes. Easy to plan around your schedule if you have a regular day job.

I had a terrible experience at this school. I would highly recommend not going to this college. They do not care about how you as the student does. All they care a bout is your money. You will NEVER hear back from any of your online teachers. I tried emailing a teaching with a question 3 times and not once did I hear back from the teacher. If for any reason you need to withdrawal they will not except it. Even if you withdraw a day or 2 after the deadline, they will make you pay every cent, even if you had good reason for the withdrawal. If you want to attend a college that cares about your needs and your success I would highly recommend choosing a different college because the only thing they care about at this college is getting your money. I'm reading all of these other reviews and I had similar experiences. The service is absolutely terrible! I will never return here and never recommend this pathetic college to anyone.

Great place to work and great staff especially in leadership building.

Ry Cole

I significantly enjoyed my experience at the Columbia College day campus. I have a great deal of respect for my professors and their dedication to higher education, specifically Dr. Digernes, Dr. Tabatabai, and Dr. Mauxion of the Sociology department. They were always available, full of knowledge and perspective, and made class incredibly enjoyable and engaging. Very proud to be a Columbia College alum.

My daughter attends this institution it's been wonderful, as a parent we feel that she is safe and getting a great education. The staff is a true blessing and I would like to Thank them all.

This is the worst school I've ever attended. They tried to drop me because they notified me 15 days before my class that I had money due. When I had been calling up there for the past few weeks and they kept telling me I was fine. Out of the 2 colleges I attended before Columbia college they have the worst teachers. They have good help, but horrible teachers. They're enrollment service center acts like they have never done the job before. I could easily walk in and know my job better than any of them. When it comes to needing have their money or figure out where I need to go to talk about money they always direct towards them and 99% of the time I had to give the 30 years history lesson on my problems. This school is just horrible they are a 2 year school, but that tries to act like a 4 year school. Do yourself a favor and just apply to MU even MACC is better. I kid you not.

Megg Stonebraker

They will work with anything in your life as they do understand life happens. They are caring and make sure you do not over pay for classes. Being a private school I do feel the education that I receive does match the type of school they are. Teaching styles are not always traditional and I feel I retain a lot more compared to other schools in Missouri. Success is their top priority for everyone.

I'm AD military and work 50+ hrs a week on shift hrs. I was a bit hesitant to begin college again, but the experience so far has actually been really good, albeit time consuming. The enrollment/beginning wasn't bad or difficult, and the academic advisor was there to guide me through everything. I'm limited to online courses, and it's been much more taxing, and time extensive than any brick-mortar course I've taken. The course makes up for its lack of in-class time with regularly assigned papers (2-3x 2-4 pages each weekly + discussions plus midterm + final). I've never seen so many paper assignments in any brick-mortar environment, so if your anticipating a easier online education, your probably wrong. The instructor is responsive, and so far the course has been rewarding, and challenging.

Darin Foster

I believe college is supposed to be challenging and rewarding and that you have learned something new in life. The problem is at Columbia College it's an 8 week course. If you are taking online classes be ready not to see a free weekend again until you graduate. I need Geology to satisfy my science credit, the book is over 800 pages long. I'm retaining very little in 8 weeks. Ideally, pick 20 items you think that are important for Geology and let the student dig deeper into those items instead of cramming a billion years of earth's history into 8 weeks. The book is $200 with colorful pictures, but you don't receive a collection of rock samples with the book. We talk about Geology, but don't experience it.

Well let's see, my advisor lied to me about what classes counted towards my bachelors degree. So I wasted time and money completing classes that didn't truly count towards my degree. Financial Aid is not well versed in their own policy and procedure and have received wrong information from that department several times. There is no accountability for staff only for students. Wrongly issued book vouchers, which I had to pay back. I had emails sent to me claiming I had to pay tuition by X date or be dropped, but I had the GI Bill Payment plan in place. Columbia College refuses to apologize for their ineptness. I believe in voting with my dollar and will not be funneling anymore money into this organization.

Reid Lamie

Horrible, they have an awful online website and if you plan to register online do not even bother.

Brittnay M.

Excellent choice for an online university. I'm a computer info systems major. Its affordable and you get quality professors who are very helpful. If you want a career in IT, I highly recommend CC

Noah Vogt

This institution is horribly ran, and should be revamped from top to bottom. I have nothing positive to say about it from the teaching staff, to the enrollment counselors, to the unprofessionalism and lack of answers of faculty and staff. Biggest waste of time and money I've ever had.

christie Mims

Love this school. I would suggest it to anyone. Glad to be a student at Columbia

By far the worst experience I have ever had attending college. Let see, the financial aid department is totally clueless, and most of the evening campus is just as clueless. They have a fairly new director of the evening campus who is a complete jerk (David Humphrey) Do yourself a favor and never go to him about anything. I don't think Columbia College branches in other parts of the region are as bad as this one. This Columbia branch is not a great representation of Columbia College AT ALL. Honestly I wouldn't encourage anyone that isn't playing a sport to attend this school because it isn't worth your time or money. If you go to financial aid for help, they most likely will act as if your are an interruption to whatever they are doing at that point in time as well. If you can't already tell from this post, I diid not have a good experience with this cash cow of a school

This has been the worst experience ever. One star is to good. When I say we literally worked for two weeks trying to finalize all paperwork ahead of arrival and receive confirmation that everything was done. Only to arrive the following Monday and my daughter need $2000 more to start school. If you want my advice force your daughter to go elsewhere. The previous post about the view is correct but then that's not what your there for. From financial aid to finance there is absolutely know decent customer service not communication going on. You feel like a ping pong ball going back and forth. I will be pushing my daughter to complete elsewhere. Absolutely HORRIBLE.

Where do I start. I enrolled and thought I was going to a great college. It's not the worst but definitely not the best. When I started I never received credit for having an associates degree, which they knew I had. I mentioned this to my advisor and nothing was done. I ended up taking extra classes that should have been counted and transferred. I finally received credit for it like a year or so afterwards. A lot of help that's going to do if I already was forced to take the classes. Let's not get on Melissa Jusino. All she does is texts the whole time you are trying to register or ask questions. I called her for a week straight with no response. Not to mention she tried to register me for classes I didn't need. I had to tell her that I didn't need those classes. Maybe if she wasn't texting, she would've known what was going on. I was told by my previous college to go here since they had a new agreement. Big mistakes I should've went to the start university that would've took all of my credits. They definitely had me fooled. They put on a good show until it's time to get credits for any transfers. They want the money at the end of the day. I don't mind paying because I'm receiving an education but I do mind having to repeat classes or not receiving the proper credit for classes because they dropped the ball. It's crazy because I literally just told a friend to go here and I had to text him back and say please don't.

I am currently attending (2013) Columbia College online and am in graduate studies. Please keep in mind that this school is not Harvard, and thank goodness. The small classroom size and hometown feel, even in a city of 60,000 plus, sets this school apart. I completed my undergraduate work in classroom, with many different instructors, from different area locations including the main campus. The college is wonderful! As a rule, the college has a deep history and a strong foundation in the liberal arts. I am currently attending graduate studies online and find it to be perfect for me because I lead a busy schedule. The flexibility and helpfulness of staff has made my experience with Columbia College priceless. Money well spent!

Since they have instituted 6 sessions Columbia College has proven they are not about the students. By making this move they force students to take student loans or lose part of their Pell grant due to not being enrolled full time. They try telling their students that 6 sessions per year will benefit them. Being a student that is currently enrolled and have been for a few years now I can tell you it is of no good to the student. Not only does it cost us more but instead of having any type of break between already accelerated courses we only have two days off. This is ultimately going to lead to more stressed out students and lower GPA's. There was a time I recommended this College to everyone I came across. Now sadly I make it very clear Columbia College is the worst college you could attend. It is a joke. Rolla's new policy if we don't offer something you need in seat take it online. Not mentioning that not only are online courses significantly more expensive but the work that is required for these is beyond reason. I am talking at minimum double the workload of an in seat class. The teachers are great, administration from the main campus down is terrible. This is no longer a student centered college no matter what their website portrays.

Donavin Smith

Im loving my time at CCIS on evenings. The 8 week schedule is a bit clunky because there is no break in the middle of the 8 week semesters, but going back to school with a family this has made things way easier. Especially with the small classes 15-30 people. Mike Miracle teaches the programming classes and he is great!

I wish I could give this school no stars... it doesn’t derserve it!!! Biggest waste of my time.... Hence Forth, I will read reviews and take them seriously. If I were to write it all, it will turn into a novel...do not waste your time!!! It will be better to step on several dog pop than to attend this school. Firstly, this is the first time I am writing any kind of review on a product of service. The experience is beyond horrible. This school do not cater to students needs one bit. The resources they use like proctorU has horrible reviews, which I have found to be true and worst. I wonder why they put their students through that with no care in the world. They professors are not supportive, of anything they are the most discouraging set of educators I ever encountered. It’s a shame!!! To cut this long story short, I don’t recommend this school to my worst enemy.

Ashley Thomas

I graduated with an Accounting degree from here. The education is okay and their online program is extremely flexible. Downside is the admin. They claim to help military and spouses but I never once received discounted tuition or a tuition-free course (excuse- they didn't know how to put it in the system.) Also- I have a finance minor that they refuse to put on my transcript. My academic advisor did not let me know that I had the minor and when asked they couldn't look up who my advisor is. I was screwed out of almost a grand and a minor that they will not appeal from errors on their end. Advice- Don't waste your time! I am frustrated with their claim to be so "military friendly" and then screw them over later.

Keyonna Wilson

worst school i have ever been to ! thinking it was all good because its through my job at the hospital , boy was i wrong. They let me attend classes to tell me i need a letter of nonattendance and unofficial trans from 4 school i never even went too . letters were submitted multiple time and my chart was never updated and its been close to a month . Then they take MULTIPLE DAYS to reply to your conversation through email . you call them they dont know what missing or whats going on . I will not further my education here if i cant enroll in classes by the end of the week . i should not be held back because of some schools i never attended , tf!!!? i would give this school a negative they are lucky to get this one star at this moment.

Columbia College has one of the worst Business Administration programs ever. Many of the instructors are not qualified to teach the classes. The overall quality is awful, in other words exceptionally easy to pass the classes. The school is more focused on student retention and graduation rates then on quality. I don't understand how can it be accredited. The classes should not be transferable to other schools. It is a waste of time and money. If you are looking for high quality education look somewhere else.

Graduated from the Ft. Worth Campus. Prepared me for a great carrer. Four years later Im now making more money than i ever have. Thanks CC.

Sarah Bennings

Best college in Columbia!!

Maurice Stitt

Been going go CC for about 2 years now I love it

I think this is a really good school because it actually challenges me. It's a nonprofit, private college with low tuition and is regionally accredited. I'm in the military and know a few people that graduated from CC and now have successful careers. What received my respect is the fact that this isn't just another degree mill graduating students for minimal work, you have to actually learn the material and put forth an effort to pass.

Anthony Mendoza

money leeches, saying I registered for classes and then didn't show up. Last I checked no one wants to pay $1500 out of pocket because they were "assist registered" into classes. unprofessional staff. Look elsewhere for "higher education"

I have been attending Columbia College for the last two years and find the advisors and financial aid department extremely helpful. I have never had a problem getting what I need to accomplished and feel that my education is relevant and challenging.

Graduate of Columbia College Fort Worth Campus, I had the best experience ever! Dr. Frye is the best mathematics instructor ever, and there history department is awesome.

I have been an adjunct online instructor at Columbia College, Columbia, MO for over seven years. I instruct Business Ethics and also Organizational Behavior. I have had superior young men and women in my classes who want to do well and learn. I am always amazed at the other responsibilities that my students have, and that they are still taking upon themselves to attain a college degree. If anyone is experiencing any issues at all, then my recommendation is that they need to inform their respective instructor and the College - as soon as possible. I am placing this review on my own accord and out of respect to anyone interested taking online courses with the College.

Zach Highfill

Signed up for a summer math class to bridge the gap between two semesters at MU. First off, the quality of the class was a joke. We were told to print off notes before class and they were scribbles from the teacher. On several occasions the instructor would mess up something and confuse most of the students and if you didn't know something that was being taught and the teacher would say to youtube it on your own time. I tried to drop the class but it was too late, so I got stuck with paying for it. Seems like the cost is similar to MU, don't waste your time here.

Audii 3000

i did in school & online when my father got sick so i called and the school to let the school know my father passed away they told me to talk to my teacher i did she told me it was either came to class on the day of his funeral or get failed so i dropped out haven't been back. Don't get me wrong everyone else there are amazing teachers. I suggest this school but low rating because of some of the teachers

Graduated from here in 2011. The experience of attending an all women's college is priceless and the opportunities available to young women here are top notch!

Townie Jess

The campus is moving away from catering to its own students. It would rather cater to students from Missouri S&T by offering classes they need as prerequisites. Almost every other department has been slashed to only survey level classes for general education requirements. It is not as easy to transfer as they tell people, so be careful if you chose to attend this institution.

Windea Quint

Graduate 2007! Awesome school. Nice small classes. On campus, online. Great resources. Great teachers.

Ashley Brooks

My wife's alma mater, we hope our daughter chooses to be a Koala!

Super excited to start in the fall! Edit: Have been here 3 years now, and I graduate in Dec 2019. Still in love with the school :) It has exceeded my expectations. CC has amazing science programs, great professors, and truly caring staff. This is a place where you can get a rigorous education amongst people that want you to succeed and give you support and help along the way. I reccomend this school to those that want a good foundation in the liberal arts as well as a top notch education in their major. I love this place. I know you will, too!

I am currently a student at CC and I love the environment, as it is a smaller college with smaller classes which is better for me. I do however think they need to step it up with making the classes for nursing students more available, and at nor than 2 campuses. I will be attending an extra year bc they are terrible about offering classes frequently enough.
