I'm a current student here at wsu but if not for getting screwed over by professors, I would transfer (I no longer have the credentials). I don't intend to sound like a student whining about grades but there are a lot of classes I have taken here where attendance is more important than content, completing homework no one looks at is important, and many professors are not good teachers. I currently have one professor who is a very nice guy, but our content is almost irrelevant to the course title/description/future classes. I really like some aspects of the school, but the academics are awful for most of the majors. Nursing and education are pretty good, but look elsewhere for most everything else.

Great school, one of the best in the Minnesota State system of schools. The Nursing program is second to none and the liberal arts college is well established. They also have a sought after composite materials engineering program. This is also the only school in the Minnesota State system that has been in the black the last couple of years (at least through 2016), so they know what to do with the money they get. Small school feel in a beautiful town. Downside is a lack of diversity (92% students are white) and the retention of students of color is very low.

Worst school! the Staff has no idea what their talking about , my daughter has been round and round with these people and never gets the same answer twice, was told the wrong info and couldn't graduate and now they are saying she owes them more money. Winona is a joke.... I DO NOT recommend this school to anyone.

Team Optimistic

My kid had the flu back in October (extremely) sick and the nurse there said she couldn't help her AND shushed help her away, while she was disoriented at school. At the time she had no idea what was wrong with her until her friends brought cold and flu meds to her. She fell on ice on school property and asked for a hot cold pack once again they said they couldn't help her. I'm like really

School is a joke for non-nursing majors. My dog would graduate with high honors. Would not recommend. Accept extremely low ACT and GPA's. School will tell you about its high job placement rate. What they don't tell you is that it isn't in their field or even close in many cases.

You guys have made my decision to spend more money at UMN... since I was a freshman in high school, I was set on going to WSU. Then, today, I met with a WSU counselor. I’m looking at going into nursing and completing my RN-BSN. And after meeting a WSU counselor, who was SOOO rude and condescending, I’ve deciding to go farther in debt with a college who actually cares about my future. Thank you, UMN. You may cost more, but your cost shows more about how much you care about your students, compared to the counselors at WSU, who are beyond rude. Thanks, UMN!
