Great school and great place to work! Small, liberal arts college nestled into Northfield, Minnesota. The people are friendly, the campus is beautiful, and the town is charming. Come visit and check it out.

Carleton has fought against the students trying to divest the College from fossil fuels every step of the way. If Carleton wants to stop climate change it can't profit from and industry that fund climate denial!! Get with it Carleton

Beautiful Campus, but.... Its a liberal arts college that falls into the problem of being politically correct and most of the students are stereotypical naive, closed-minded leftists. If you disagree with them when it comes to politics, prepare for name calling. Some students have spoken out against this and are more open-minded, but this is slowly fading. It didn't get too politically correct and leftist until the 2016 election and students were getting attacked for voting for Trump or showing a small amount of support for him or his policies. Many are even hostile of Republican/conservative view points. And if that doesnt make it worse, a movement called CarlsTalkback started making a bunch of unnecessary demands, such as demanding more students of color on campus, more gender neutral bathrooms, more poc and trans, queer, etc. staff, etc. (Unfortunately, you can find all of their demands online). Instead of the college just saying no, they bent over backwards and are trying to fill some of these demands. The movement is sadly still around. But honestly, the campus is full of teachers and staff who geniunely care about students, and the students who aren't sjw crazed are friendly and quirky. Problem is the politics and students get so leftist that they can't function let alone think critically (especially among the upperclassmen). The tuition and businesses around here are overpriced too, but if you can handle that and the politics (or can avoid it), then Carleton might be for you.

So I went to college here and I enjoyed my time academically. but since I left a few months ago, I am not sure it was worth the mental pain of going there. Most of administration do not care for students of color, and most non POC were rude and talking for POC. When students complain about something that is harming their environment, they are hated and ostracized both by administration and other students. And the students trying to defend themselves tend to not get their voices heard. Really think about the mental state you are in right now. It is a big chance coming here will make your mental state go wonky. It is up to you if you think the academics is worth the mental instability. Again, my academic career really benefited from this. My mental health has seriously declined.

Really, really like the campus but the price to attend and the fact that everyone who attends is a rich snob made my visit deter me from ever returning.

Don’t be fooled by the low acceptance rate and claim to prestige! Carleton tries to make up for its inadequacy by apologizing for itself and saying things like, “people who know about Carleton know it’s a good school...” and making itself as rigorous as possible for no reason. Also, although the student body is perfectly fine, it does not justify attending Carleton. If you didn’t get into Harvard, you’ll be better off at a state school, where the students are probably just as good. Carleton is overpriced, stressful, and has an inferiority complex. Also, no one in the real world has heard of it. Not even in Minnesota. Do not go!
