The customer service at this place gets a F! Financial aid has to be out of compliance with disbursement regulations and need to be reported. The term is within two weeks of being over when you get your refund. On one occasion, I got a check three weeks after the semester was over! Horrible and boring school!

This place is boring, there’s nothing to do. The professors act like they don’t want to be there and don’t care. I had one professor who I was confused on why he was there since he seemed better suited for a 4 year school. The online classes make the tests on campus which was an inconvenience. I hate that I wasted my first two years of school here.

I'm a recent retiree from the CSM faculty and without doubt bias. Over my several years at the college's La Plata campus, I found it a truly great place to work owing to the hard-working and studying students, the very supportive staff, the highly skilled administrators, and, certainly, the superb faculty members. CSM provides Southern Marylanders with excellent programs, courses, and instruction, excellent facilities, and a fine array of cultural activities. Southern Marylanders are most fortunate to have CSM available for its educational needs, various and ambitious activities in the arts, and athletics.

I went here before transferring to a four year university where I graduated with a BA in psychology. That was my plan from the beginning and the advisers were able to fast track my course so that I was able to transfer out quickly! When I was young I also participated in community theater at the college under the direction of C. Emmitt Woody from the ages of 9 until 17. I participated in musicals like "The Music Man", "Canterbury Tales", "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and non-musicals too. These experiences shaped a large portion of my childhood, provided a foundation and guidance for self-awareness and acceptance. I cannot express in words the gratitude I have!

If you want to get a refund or drop a class due to a reason not listed in the involuntary withdrawal policy, such as a bad teacher (I recommend checking rate your professor before registering for classes) then it won’t happen. You will have to do so within the first week of a semester. The teacher definitely has good influence on whether or not you pass or fail regardless of the material. Math classes should be online since most of the material learned is as such. You cannot apply as an independent student on fasfa If you don’t have a kid, are in the military, married, under 24 or other various reasons. So forget about fasfa even though it’s cheaper than a university.

CSM is a corrupt academic organization that has an incompetent Bursar's office. We tried to drop a class within the deadline and were unable to due to multiple system errors. After multiple phone calls we were told to call back the next day and that all would be well. We did and were told all was taken care of. One month later we receive a letter saying we are denied our refund with no explanation. Multiple calls and emails to the Bursar's office go nowhere. Very unfortunate for such a small academic institution to build their Bursar's office on dishonesty, lack of integrity and lousy customer service. Be warned that they are unorganized and incompetent and it will require numerous phone calls to achieve absolutely nothing. A totally disgraceful office.

Dishonest admissions and Bursar's office lead to CSM stealing money from me and refusing to give it back. I attempted to drop a class on time and their online system was broken and after multiple calls they would not accommodate me. Now they are refusing to give me a refund. This is one despicable academic institution. Be warned.

No football team or home coming. They have Festivals every semester though. Teachers can be great or horrible. The 2017 Student Government is kind of snarky but they mean well I guess. Basically, college is here is like college everywhere... it is what you make it

This was a great school because it was way much better than Prince George's Community College. The problems are that the Dance Department is not very organized, have professors that are terrible teachers of teaching the Dance Ensemble and Ballet Dance courses. Plus, they do not offer contemporary, hip hop and tap dance, which is needed. There are also poor administrations in the Dance Department that needs improvement. Plus, some of the students including the teachers try to bullied me on social media, but I do not tolerated because I am too rigid for that. But at least I graduated in 2012 with a 3.80 grade point average and receive my Associate's Degree in Theatre and Dance. Now, I can move forward, move to another state to pursue my dreams including doing my dance careers, operating a better, successful dance company than College of Southern Maryland and other dance companies I had issues with in the past, get married, start a family and live a healthy long life. I would highly recommended students to attend to this college, but not get a degree in Theatre and Dance. If you want to get a degree in Theatre and Dance, go to Towson University because their dance department is much friendlier than College of Southern Maryland Dance Department. They'll rush you in to register for classes, give you your schedule and account.... But the moment you even mention financial aid everything changes (even the staff's mood). They require your parents tax returns and require you to get a specific sealed letter/form from the irs (mind you this is after they already have all your fafsa info in the system). They make you fill out an extra form that says it should be filled out by some government official who can certify you are not recieving food stamps, run figurative loopedy-loops and d*mn near jump over the Great Salt Lake both naked and barefoot... And at the end of it all: "in 4 to 6 weeks we'll seeeeeeeeeee if you miiiiiiight maaaybe just maaaaaaaaybe qualify for something."
