Overall I was very pleased with my experience at Fortis and would recommend the school to anyone that wants to better themselves and improved their standard of living. The instructors are extremely dedicated to the students and willing to help you in anyway they can.

Takeisha Woolf

This is a professional entity that offers medical programs for anyone willing to recieve the hands on professional experience to offer any professional practice.

I had a good experience at fortis admission, financial aid, and career services was very helpful with answering every question I had

Latoya Smith

Fortis is a great school they just need to get rid of Kevin Banks. He is total unprofessional and if you ask him anything that he should know since he has the job you will get the run around.

Natasha Griffin

I love Fortis!

This school is one of the worst schools in the universe. I wouldn't recommend anybody to go there and to be honest it needs to be shut down. The ppl in charge are full of lies and never uphold their parts of contracts. You'll never get a clinical spot if you are a Surg Tech student. You'll be at home waiting for ever and then they try to put you on SPN to increase your loan amount when it's not your fault you're waiting. Ppl have dropped the ball soooo much at this school that it's a total disaster. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Please do not waste your time with this place!!! The absolute worst experience of my educational career. Did I really just waste five days of my life and a hundred dollars in gas money and still not get the answer to the original questions that I walked in with? Did somebody just sit in front of me with a contract for forty-six thousand dollars and call it a college registration? Did someone calling themselves the director of admissions call me to let me know that they spent money giving me a test that I did not want to take in the first place? During this call this chick was reviewing the transcripts that I brought in on day one of the process. Had someone been in there the first time that I went in and told me the transfer credit policy it would have saved so much time and money on both of our parts. This school should not be allowed to call themselves a college. This is a trade school which operates on the same types of legally binding high interest student loans that I thought were outlawed in the 1980's.

I had a great experience at fortis college. Everyone there is very helpful and everything you learn in your classes were also helpful in the long run on extern... My 9 months there for medical assistant was amazing! The faculty and staff are all very nice and kind,, they are willing to help anyone in need... I love attending Fortis College. Every instructor I had was very concerned about my well being and made sure I had every material I needed to pass my course. All of the faculty is kind and they all want to see you succeed. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to get their MBC Diploma/Certificate.

I attended the Sterile Processing Tech program and it was the worst experience ever. This school is horrible and unorganized. I withdrew from the program during my externship for personal reasons and now that I am ready to attend externship, they keep making up all kinds of excuses not to find me a sight. I even went out and found my own sight and they still made excuses not to fill out my paper work to attend that sight smfh. But you know what, I did not let some trashy a** school stop me from my mini career because I am now a Certified Registered Central Service Technician and I did it all without their help. But o trust me, I will find a way to get that diploma that I paid for o trashy o dogs. Yah dat

Financial Aid Department will lie and screw you over. I wasn't supposed to owe anything and now I owe over 14,000. Make sure you save all your paperwork if you dare sign up with them.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR THE NURSING PROGRAM ‼️‼️ I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE FOR THE NURSING PROGRAM .. im only a teen ‘and my mom recently graduated from this school to be a RN . The Dean over this is soooooooo evil & unprofessional .. I don’t know her personally but it hurted me to my heart to hear my mother speak about how she did this & that making it so difficult in order for my mother and other students to pass ☹️ That’s so selfish and trifling !! but my mom kept faith and passed

First I will start with the fact that the salon is clean and convenient. Next, I have to say that the acting cosmetologist on staff is absolutely unprofessional as well as some of the students there. I went in and asked for what I wanted and the cosmetologist as well as the student was on the same page with me about what I wanted. Something flat with a bit of a bump in the front. When I am in the chair, the stylist was TOLD BY THE COSMETOLOGIST to do the style a different way and that way was ALL WRONG. I understand this is a school but this was a mess. The cosmetologist was assuring me that she could NOT mold my hair because "it is too thick and you need a relaxer..." I explained to her that it can be molded as I JUST got it done less than a week ago and it was beautiful (I didn't tie it down). When I realized that it wasn't going to look like I wanted it to look, I asked her to stop and I told the student I was going to a salon (I needed a nice hairstyle because I start a new job tomorrow). The refused to give me my money back though she KNEW this wasn't done, nor what I asked for.. I would never suggest this hair clinic not because the student did a bad job...but because the COSMETOLOGIST on site told the student to do the opposite of what I asked and didn't give me my money back. Furthermore, the student was VERY nice and she did what the cosmetologist TOLD her to do...she probably would have done a phenomenal job if she did what I asked instead of what the cosmetologist asked.

At first I thought this school was a great choice, but it wasn’t long before my views on the school was changed. Everything sounded good at first until you find out no one is on the same page and no one knows the answer to any of your questions. The worst experience I had here was due to attendance. I missed three days because of military purposes. I gave the dean and my two instructors a copy of my memo from my unit, signed by my commander. I did miss a couple of days after that, two because of being sick and another because my husband left due to military purposes and I wanted to be with him that morning before he left. I can understand the days I was sick being inexcusable because I didn’t bring a doctor’s note. The days that I missed because I had to be at drill should have been excused period. The way attendance work for Fortis College- Baton Rouge is your attendance is worth 10% of your grade, but if you fail attendance, you fail the entire class regardless if you have a passing grade. You have to do an appeal to justify why you missed with appropriate documentation (which I had given in the beginning). Here is the trick though, the appeal is only to let you pass the class overall or fail it. So, if you have an 89% Avery grade in that class, that’s with the 10% taking off for attendance, you still fail unless your appeal if approved. If you are failing regardless of attendance, they won’t appeal it for you anyway. The attendance policy is very unethical for people who have families or anyone period. The staff, including the president, come to work late and don’t show up some days, but they still hold the students to “Fortis” standards for attendance. They document every minute you are late or leave early so that it will add up to fail you. If your have a family, if you are pregnant, trying to have a family or even just trying to better your life by going to school DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT GO TO FORTIS COLLEGE. They do not support people with families morally. If your child is sick and you have to stay home with them, they don’t care if you do all your work at home and still have an A in the class, if you are not sitting in a seat at Fortis College for three to five hours, it still counts against you. You have a doctors excuse, good, but it will not change your grade. There is one lady there that just need to be fired period. I’m not going to say her name on here, but if you ever go to Fortis College and she is still there, you will know exactly who I am talking about. She is bluntly rude. Some people told me some things about this school and I should have listened. I didn’t listen, but I can warn others about this school.

For me it was a step to reinvent myself. I came from a surgical laser/Hospital setting into HVAC/R which was by comparison a foreign language. Upon my initial experience I was somewhat anxious but the more I engaged the instructors and the subject matter I began to flourish. I am in my final 2 weeks and I have experienced residential, Light commercial and some industrial, boilers and chillers. If you would have told me that I would have those experiences when I started I would have thought you were crazy. The program Director and Instructors are top notch and care enough to spend the time to teach and want you to learn and have success. The Job placement opportunities are sought after in such an manner that you could have multiple opportunities as Mr O'Carroll is that talented and committed. I would recommend this institution on any day as they took me and gave me a skill set that can never be taken from me and for that I will forever be in their debt. In closing the process is what YOU make it.

Coming from an industrial maintenance back ground I came to Fortis already having mechanical ability. However what i tjought i knew was expanded on Greatly as the top notch instructors taught me how HVAC applies to what I already do. Fortis college has made me twice as good at my current job and has also taught me an additional trade that makes me limtless money on the side. The career servises department is the best and hardest working in the bussiness. I would most definitely recommend Fortis college to anyone looking to further their career or embark into a new trade. I wouldn't refer anyone!!!! Fortis Institute in Woodlawn is CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I completed my classes and my externship but believe me they did not make it easy. They all lie and all they want is your money. They could care less whether you achieve your goals or not. They talk a good game and once you sign on the dotted line they are forever trying to drop you. If you are considering becoming a MA go to Fortis in Towson or just take your time and go to a two year college that offers the program. Fortis is the house hold name but the schools are completely different. The hoodlawn I mean Woodlawn location offers nothing but attitudes disrespect nonsense andn foolishness. They can't keep teachers and some of the ones they have dont even know anything about the subject they are teaching. DO NOT GO TO FORTIS IN WOODLAWN....WARNING!!!!! Now I did what I had to do to get out of there and succeed but you shouldnt have to. They make all kinds of promises they dont keep and never intended to keep. They are all liars and thieves and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. The worst

Please folks, it will be a terrible idea to enroll in this so called 'College' . Their passing rate is horrible. They keep losing their accreditation quite often. I wonder why they are allowed to operate and be ripping people off. This is a full profit setup mainly to make money and the only way they do it is to prey on innocent people like myself who wants nothing but a brighter future. They have instructors and leaders who are very prejudice and will do everything to bring a student down instead of helping students excel. Instructors who sit there and judge students without knowing a student. IT'S A 'NO' 'NO' GO TO SCHOOL. A word to the wise is enough.

Do not waste your time and money enroll at this institution!!! Fortis College is the absolute worst college in the state of South Carolina and possibly in the United States especially if you're going to pursue a career in nursing. I will advise you before you waste your time and money to research other colleges and institutions before you make the same desperate mistake I did and sign my life away to a college who did not support, care, or respect my education. Fortis College nursing program will not prepare you number one for their curriculum and also NOT for the NCLEX I am warning you from first-hand experience do not go to Fortis College Institute.

Tommy Mckenzie

The staff was great and the teachers really showed me how to prepare for my future as far as the HVAC field goes.

The program I took was sterile processing technician. The program is 9 months each classwas 6 weeks long including externship. Classes were simple and fast , teachers were very nice and willing to share there expirences. Directors give you the motivation to keep going and stay on top of your career. Overall, my favorite part of the program would begoing out to externship at the hospital and getting hands on learning.

Kerterri Baker

Alot of money and alot of slackness. The staff is always changing. I have been waiting on a transcript for 3 weeks and still no success. Good teachers especially Dr. Eudy. Good nursing program. The Fortis administration is the issue. Watch your charges on your account. Terrible school. Dont waste your money.

I loved attending Fortis. Every instructor went out of the way to make sure we all passed. All of my courses were helpful. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to further their education.

I attended Fortis Institute Woodlawn for the Surgical Technology program (2013-2015). My experience at Fortis was very positive! My teachers were all skilled in their respective fields of study and my love for learning was fed beyond measure. I successfully completed my on-site classes and progressed to clinical rotations at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. On my clinicals, I appreciated my time at Fortis all the more! I applied all the skills I attained during my clinical rotation from basic human anatomy to establishing and maintaining aseptic technique. After 3 months on clinicals, I began my Capstone 299 classes in preparation for my National Ceritification test. Now after 6 months of clinicals with 120 cases under my belt, I am confident in my ability as a Surgical Technologist and this is a field that I LOVE!!!!

The MLT program at this school is very unorganized. The teachers in that particular program do not care about their students. They always stating the fact they will get a pay check no matter what. They always losing your paperwork and class work. The staff at this school is horrible. Fortis is all about receiving money. The admissions reps couldn't give me no information on the program. The dean of students does not care about the students well being.....all he cares about is how many students the school got so he can keep job...this was the worse school experience i ever had....if you want a good school experience please do not go here try a school in the surrounding area....this school is about receiving your money....far as job placement they do not help you find a job

When changing careers, Fortis Institute in Woodlawn welcomed me with open arms. I had amazing instructors who were there to help with any issues that I or my classmates may have had.

DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL! all this place cares about is cheating you out of your money, The campus president an dean, teachers , and all "support" staff are all unprofessional. I attended this school for the surgical tech program, in my 2 years we went through about 10 diffrent program directors an teachers (most of which weren't qualified to teach) by time i was ready for clinicals they made me sit out for 12 weeks till they could find a site, which made my graduation date be pushed back. im telling you dont waste your money or time there, unless you dont mind unqualified idiots pretending they care when they dont

I started the Surgical technology program at Fortis in Baton Rouge without a clear vision of what my future will hold. After being less than 6 months away from finishing the program, I am very determined and prepared to start my career. Mr. Phil was a lot of help with career services.

School is great for how far I went into it. If you want to know HVAC Mr.Willie and Mr.Pat are the people you need to talk to. We could’ve went to the lab a bit more for my tastes but it is what it is. The President john as I know him is an unfair person if you plan on going there and you not of his likings then you need to watch out he will blatantly ignore and disregard you. Then when you stand up for yourself he will suspend you without cause and then you will Have a hearing which you won’t be notified of. On my two week suspension I went and got my Universal EPA license for hvac at the local supply House and landed a job but I already had experience in the hvac field long story short. I went to see what it was about and I liked it but overall I wouldn’t return I’ve been on my own for months and honestly you will learn in the field if you are even slightly mechanically inclined and can read on your own. If you can find someone who does HVAC already just join them because what you learn in class it’s going to completely change when you go into the field and especially when you go into the attic.

This school is the worst. It was a waste of time and money.

If I knew then what I know now I would have gotten on the 2 year waiting list for MTC. I took the DA program. I was told upon admission this school is accredited and that credits will transfer should I decide to pursue further education in dentistry; however this is NOT the case. Some of my instructors were good while others were simply there to collect a paycheck (one gave 5 minute breaks every 15 minutes so she could smoke). And job placement? HAH! I have had a few jobs in the dental field since I "graduated" (I have YET to receive any sort of certificate proving that I even went to school there); however, I had to find them on my own, and when the decent offices in town hear that you are a Fortis "graduate" they are not exactly impressed. There IS one plus side to Fortis: I can get my $18,000 in student loans forgiven due to the fact that the criteria necessary to do this fits Fortis perfectly.

The nursing admission manager is very rude and disrespectful.

Jolly Time

I took the CST (Computer Support Tech) course here and still can't find a job in that field since 2013!!!! Meanwhile, people who took the same courses at other schools are currently working in the same field....Hmmm??? They obviously had better instructors than I did here at Hoodlawn! Computers are still the future but not at this school. They need better quality instructors and not the cheap one's just out for a paycheck!!!! What a waste of time this was for me!!!!

Amber Martin

I am glad I went to Fortis. I attended there Nursing Program was in the very first class to graduate. Past the boards first try with only 75 question. Fortis nursing program was the first I felt wanted me to succeed with getting my degree. You can also go back when you graduate and get help with your resume and other things. Fortis nursing program is awesome!

Mary Smith

I graduated recently from the medical assistant here and I am happy I went here even though I heard it wasn't so great in the past. The faculty were really supportive and staff was helpful usually. I highly recommend this school. I also just got certified, which is included in the tuition and the test is taken right here on site. So if you are not certified it is no ones fault but your own. I am working now in a doctors office near my house and it was all worth it.

Emily Carliegio

I heard it's a piss poor school and the teachers there bring their problems to work talking about their husbands and family. I thought it was a place of learning. Not to mention it seems like they may have gotten the teachers off of a site where teachers can't teach any where else. They work to fail you and take your money. No thanks, I'll pass!!!

Gee Gee

Choosing Fortis College was one of the best decisions I've made. The admissions staff as well as the teachers were great. The hours worked perfectly with the current job that I was working. After going to a technical college and receiving a 2yr degree, I still could not find a better paying job. I chose to go back to school for medical assisting at Fortis College. They do not have a waiting list to get in the program or a pre- certificate requirement. The career service will work with you to find jobs before you even graduate. The 9 month medical assisting program went by really fast and I could not believe I was working a month after graduation in my career field. I'm so thankful for Fortis College. You do your part and they will do theirs.

Ryan Kimble

I great school to learn from and I place where people can grow from. The radiology program is awesome and always you to grow into the field. Found a job about a month after finishing. The career service department is dynamite and I love this school. Highly recommend them.

Kristen Wicker

This school's nursing program is a joke. There graduating rate at the Columbia campus is down to a one and two person per quarter. It Is definitely a waste of money and their whole program has a HUGE lack of organization. I would not suggest fortis to any family or friends of mine.

When I started at Fortis in Feb 2014 for the MBC program I was terrified yet excited to have a chance to continue my education. I am thankful for the instructors and administrators for all the support and encouragement that was given. The instructors were always available anytime and became like mentors and friends. They taught hard and expecetd nothing but greatness from those who wanted it as bad as they were trying to teach it. The administrators were always keeping track of how long I've been here and to remind me of how proud they was of how far I have come. This was honestly a wonderful, unforgettable journey for me. I'm confident with my choice of career change and thankful for the driving force that helped me accomplish it! K. Holmes

At 48 years old I went back to school to become an HVAC tech. Yes it was hard for me, But I had the good fortune to be blessed with people that cared not only about the job they do, but the people they do it for! At my intake I was told the plain truth, " You'll get out of this what you put in to it " So I gave it my all. Fortis was in need of a maintenance staff, I was interviewed and given the contract for the job. So now I have school and work at the same time! Hard, yeh it was hard, but I plan to get a lot out , so I put a lot in.Needless to say , I graduated and even made the Deans List! Well, what did I get out of my hard work at Fortis...... I got what I came through those doors for, My HVAC Certification , A Job at CMC STEEL SC Making $26.00 an hour , and a maintenance contract that I passed on to my wife and son ! So Fortis was Great for me because I listen to the staff and teachers, not my friends. they told me to focus and I did ! So to whomever is reading this, I leave you with what was given to me day one...." You'll get out of it , what you put in to it" Fortis means " Strength"

Kyle Bivens

Great experience there. Was able to complete my program in HVACR in less than a year (48 weeks) and received my EPA Universal license. the program is broken down into mods which is two classes for 6 weeks before you start the next mod. They have an HVAC lab where you can get used to the equipment and troubleshoot problems just like in the field. The teachers I've had were all great and very helpful. There was one teacher I didn't have that is questionable but since I haven't had him I can't say for sure. You also get a tool kit which is helpful when transitioning into the career. The offer day classes from 8am-12:30pm(Which I had) Monday through Thursdays and night classes which I believe is from 6pm-10:30pm (could be wrong). You sometimes do have to make up holidays on Fridays. You get a two week Christmas break and a 1 week summer break. I definitely would recommend Fortis to anyone pursuing a career in HVAC. To me this is the better option because unlike Midlands Tech you go to school 48 weeks instead of 2 1/2 years. You also don't take unnecessary classes at Fortis like you do at Tech. Definitely stop by and see what they are about.

Andrea Wheeler

I overall enjoyed my time at Fortis, but the downside is the lack of quality lab time and hands on that I got, and I feel like the curriculum needed to be changed. I also feel like the teachers waited a little late to start reviewing for the CST exam with us. The school is also a little unorganized in my opinion. There are some positives though! The teachers are really cool and they make you feel as if you've known them forever, and they're always there to help! They also push for you to pass exams and they crack down on you about studying! They give you tough love too! But the tough love is for the best! Career services is also very helpful with applying for jobs and financial aid is helpful as well with finances !

Patrick Mcguire

Don't waste the money complete rip off!!! I am now I'm debt $20000. Thinking I was doing the right thing..come to find out all I was taught was minor trouble shooting abilities..nothing on duct work after getting epa certs only could find a job for 12 an hour due to lack of knowledge..recommend you start green and go pay for the test!!!save big $$$ and a lot of time!!!!

Asante Kivoi

i wouldnt advise anyone to attend the school at this location.

Deena Hudson

I am going to school as a dental assistant and so far my education has been top notch. I'm 1/2 way through.

Tiara Robinson

Starting at fortis college was a life changing moment for. I attened the Dental Assisting program and finished in two years and to think of it i thought i couldnt do it but i did.The teachers and the other staff at fortis college gave me the best support i needed to finsh school. Not only do i have god to thank for changing my life but i also thank fortis college for giving me a chance and the one on one attention that i needed.
