It’s a Wow for a junior college. From a student points of views, I have nothing but Great Great experience from lectures to campus activities. Keeping up with the good works. Given me hope for someone from west coast areas school to see such incredible school can be happening at the Midwest.

The international student office is great. Felt right at home.

Travis Copple

Great place when I attended. Staff was always helpful, the design is close so you don't have to walk far between classes, architecture is pretty good. Wasn't a fan of the parking garage, just because people have no idea how to use it, my car was hit a few times while being in there. The addition of online classes over the last several years has been nice as well.

I'm finishing up prerequisite courses here. The professors are amazing. They're very helpful and they take time to understand individual needs.

As a past student and employee of JCCC, I will always recommend this college to anyone seeking a educational or employment opportunity. The campus is BEAUTIFUL and the accommodations are some of the best. Faculty and staff are some of the best around (not that I'm biased!) I have to also admit, I attend multiple other 4-year colleges, and JCCC provided the greatest educational value in the area. Schedule a campus visit today and you won't be disappointed!

In general I think this is a great school. However, I would steer clear of the graphic design program. I started there and honestly the faculty are not very helpful or professional. I feel that I wasted so much time and money with them. I finally changed my major and went on to have a great experience at the school. I just wanted to let other people know that program is lacking.

You would never think this is a community college after you see the campus or attend one of the classes. It's a great school, summer courses are very thorough, great resources on campus.

The police staff here is discriminative towards certain people and there is one lady in particular that needs to be fired. I would never want to hire her based on the way she treats others. Very disrespectful and disappointing to hear that since the school is so wonderful to attend. Just all around sad.

Seiji Suenaga

Starting college at JCCC was really beneficial for me. The tuition is low, which lets you explore your interests before settling on a major. The night & internet classes accommodate a day-job. You can earn an associate degree much more cheaply than at a typical 4-year university, then transfer to UMKC & receive an automatic "Transfer Award" scholarship ($1000 per semester) to finish your bachelor degree at a discount. By attending more than 1 college, you meet a wider variety of teachers, classmates, & local business partners.

Great school and campus but the old man in the gymnasium building is so rude. He's flat out ignored me multiple times while reading his newspaper and cookies. To try and make it easier on him I've scanned my id myself before and he got so mad at me. I tried greeting you multiple times and the only way to get you notice is if I scan myself and the beep gets your attention. Plus I've seen him make the athletes at jccc go look for their id's (or just won't let them in) even though they're clearly there for practice. If you don't wanna be there then he should go work somewhere else. Honestly if it wasn't for him JCCC would be perfect.

Best school ever! Low tuition costs($93/credit be for Johnson county residents, $110 for Kansas, $220 for out of state), kind staff and really fun events throughout the semester! It has been a blast being a student there the past three years! Plus the cafeteria has a chick fil a, firehouse subs, and a pizza hut!

My experience is based on the fact that I didn't give 100% when I went here. I do seem to remember the staff not being the friendliest. But the price is right and it's one of the best community colleges in the country.

Always an easy campus to navigate. I'm not a student but attend events there related to the Carlsen center and enjoy the ease of access to parking and the music venue. The staff is accommodating and the recent m events are well planned and presented.

One of the top rated community colleges in the country. Many diverse programs available. Cullinary institute. Art museum and education programs. Health, medical and agricultural programs . Police academy. Performing Arts center and education programs. Atms, food service, counseling and bookstore. Parking garages and lots. Bus service.

I have had a terrible time with this college. From my experience, there is lack of communication. I've turned in requested paperwork more than once, to be told they did not need it, after receiving letters that all is well. I feel they so not want non traditional students at this college. There is no excuse for all the circus commotion. No pleases.

The art program is amazing, even better then KCAI's and much less expensive. If you plan to study art this is the school to attend. The campus is very open and the school has many resources for those taking gen eds as well as advanced or specific courses.

Beautiful campus! The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art is a must see, a high end showcase and impressive collection. Friendly and helpful staff to navigate around, lots of art sculptures around the campus, family friendly, wheelchair accessible and elevators inside. They serve The Roasterie coffee inside Campus Center and south end of Carlsen Center. Parking is free including parking garage.

I wish this was a 4 year institution because there isn't a better place to learn. The teachers really are great at their jobs and care about the students. I appreciate having their guidance to help correct some of the major transfer credit issues I had coming in from an out of state school.

So I'm done with this school. Your staff is incredibly rude. I can't get proper help at the math resource center because apparently I'm cheating by asking for help on a math problem, I can't go work out without your rude staff telling me …

I'm a current student here and can say it's pretty good overall. The professors here are great as they really do seem to care about the students and are very helpful if you need assistance on something. The material presented in each course is also very good. The administration also does a very good job. My only complaint is that they don't offer enough classes each semester for the required courses in my major of CIS and sometimes they don't even offer the required course in a semester. Also I've been a student here since August 2012 and one of the required courses for my major is no longer offered by JCCC since Summer 2011, yet they tell me I'm still required to have it in order to complete my AAS with them so I may be transferring elsewhere because of this.

I got my A.S. !!! online, good prices for great education. I have taken many continuing education classes also, some for pleasure some for work always good information. The only thing I didn't like was there were no days with late hours for talking to a counselor, I was going online because I work 45 hours a week, had to take a day off to do the graduation counselor stuff.

My mom attends schools here and I come up here quite a bit to help her do alot. Never had any problems everyone is always nice. Until today when I learned of a rule that you can't be in a computer lab unless you are a student. I've been in numerous computer labs with my mom and I never do anything except sit there and wait for her to get done. I wouldn't be here today but my mom fell on her back last week and can't drive. So I had to bring her. She is putting on a fashion show on the 23rd and had to do some work and meet her models here. Now I can't even be in the same room as her and I have no idea how to get around on this campus. Let alone I probably wouldn't be able to go anywhere else but a hallway because I'm not a student. I do realize that rules are set in place for a reason but they dont even have a rule like that at kckcc. I mean come on that's ridiculous that I cant even sit there while she gets done. And also if one person is going to enforce rules then everyone does because it wasn't just an hour before now I was sitting in that same computer lab minding my own business and no one said a word to me. This is in the Regnier Center lab 335.

I purchased one of the $20 mini courses that JCCC offers in their continuing education section. It was just a 10 minute video! I expected it to be a basic overview for the price, but $2 per minute is a major rip-off. I recommend you take one of the free webinars offered by KU. They are FREE, 45 minute, live sessions where you can actually ask questions and interact with people.

Carlsen Center is a great venue for dance, theater and music events. All seats are good and the acoustics are excellent. We have seen many plays and show in Yardley Hall and a few in the intimate Polsky Theater. The quality of shows they bring in each season is exceptional especially for the price

JCCC has been a totally fabulous experience. Public Education was my focus as a parent, teacher and community member. Kansas City area has provided excellent educational resources such as JCCC. Teachers, staff, and students have all been very professional and respectful. Positive ATTITUDE and EFFORT are the rewards of positive communication and relationships.

There are some great staff at Johnson County Community College, and I'm not singling any one person out here. I attended college here over this past year, and to say the least without getting into great detail I struggled outside of the classroom with depression and anxiety. This wasn't a new thing for me. As a Marine Corps Veteran of 12 years I've struggled with this and finding a clear direction in life. I've been receiving treatment for this for well over a year now at the VA. It seems to me that I've been treated differently at this campus as a Veteran, and in some cases I've been singled out in the classroom. This is discouraging to say the least. I don't understand how students are being treated differently, or offered opportunities other than outlined in the class syllabus. I've noticed students being treated differently than others, and favorites being paid more attention to. I'm sure there will be some sort of clever response to this, either apologizing for how I've felt, or somehow putting the blame on me. This is very common from an institution such as this. nothing different than a public school denying any responsibility in a youg girls suicide in Texas, becase she never told a staff member how she was feeling, or that she was being bullied at school. That makes me sick. If you're wondering where I'm going with this, I wanted to kind of paint a picture for what I'm about to tell you. I appealed my classes in the fall semester, and was denied my request. I really tried to express myself in this request, which was so hard for me to do. Being a grown man, Marine Corps Veteran of 12 years, father, and husband that I was failing at taking care of myself mentally, and that I was struggling in all aspects of my life. It takes a lot to put yourself out there, the vulnerability alone can be overwhelming. Not really sure what to do at this point. If I were to take the schools recommendation, it would simply be "just take the classes again" they said. Well I'd like a better prepared response than some form letter. I was treated unfairly here, and there is no denying that. You can't just treat people as castaways, I'm a person too, and all the others that don't quite fit into your so called box. I'm not perfect, and maybe a little damaged, but that doesn't mean that you can just throw me aside accepting the better more qualified student. In closing be considerate, for show compassion, for every student may not fit your made up world mold. Don't be so assuming, and maybe give those less fortunate a chance to make good. Think outside of your pockets, and more with your hearts. I'll cross my fingers this review somehow someway touches someone. I laid it all on the line, and you turned your backs on me. To be honest the way I was treated you shouldn't even get a star...

I went to JCCC for 2 years and completed my Liberal Arts and General Science degree, Fall 2018. There is honestly not one bad thing I have to say about Johnson County. I thoroughly enjoyed being apart of the student body and acquiring my Associate's degrees. The campus is very pretty with brick walkways all throughout. Most of all the buildings are brick and are really pretty as well. They have been doing a lot of work around campus the past couple years, keeping up with the foundation, and adding plenty of new buildings from the culinary school to the new arts building. There is also plenty of statues and other art pieces from students and artists all around the campus. I went to school just to get my Associate's, but JCCC offers a variety of different extracurricular activities from clubs to sports teams. At the beginning of the fall semester, they have a plethora of vendors, schools, and jobs who set up tables and try to expose students to future careers, other universities, and what JCCC has to offer. As any college, professors here and there were grouchy and below average, as with anything else, you just have to learn to deal with it. I'm going to miss my time as a student here, but I'm glad I can finally take what I learned and move on to bigger and better things with my life! Thank you for the past couple of years, JCCC. You will be missed.

Glad I transferred to another school. They need different professors. "Beth Gulley" Is one of them. Do not take her Comp, or Literature classes. It will be the worst mistake in your education you've ever made!

Unless you got a full ride to some top college, you have to be pretty stupid not to attend a college like Joco. If you're a Johnson County resident then you're only gonna be paying $85 per credit hour. If you're not then its still only $100 per credit hour. Compare that to Kansas University's $318 per credit hour... Its kind of a no brainer. You are getting the EXACT same quality of education here than any other state school, but at a fraction of the cost. I got a full ride to go here, and if you have any talent at all there are MANY opportunities for scholarships. If you're broke, don't hesitate. The college is so cheap, your PELL grant will pay for all of it! This is what education should look like around the world. I hate seeing people come out of college with loads of debt that they will be paying for most of their life. Its just not logical. Get half of your 4-year degree out of the way by coming to Johnson County Community College!!!

Great school. The professors are pretty good and are very willing to help you if you are confused. The campus is nice, and safe, and the cafeteria has good food. Lots of study spaces, and plenty of parking. Cheap tuition is also a plus. The only issue I have is that social activities on campus are rather lacking. Not many clubs either. Overall it is still a good school though

I'm a student at JCCC, and I love it! The professors are all excellent teachers and orators and have a genuine interest in seeing their students succeed. JCCC is amazing. i loved it. great staff. just big enough to have resources that are nice and convenient like good lab computers, great facilities, etc, but just small enough where professors can have good one on one communication with students.

I went to school here part time for 4 years and worked here for 8 years. I have taken many course from many professors in a wide range of fields. I spoke with many students and professors. This school is an incredible resource for anyone trying to get some where better. In short, if you work hard, choose your professor's wisley, get involved on campus, and use the resourses offered to you (they are abundant), not only will you succeed but you will have a lot of fun doing it. School here can be really exciting and challenging. It is such an incredible opportunity to have a school like this. There are many people working very hard to bring opportunities to people. I hope that it can continue to grow and offer even more avenues for people to grow and improve.

The campus and staff are nice but parking is absolutely horrible. I have been late to class multiple times due to the lack of parking spaces.

KSrigitrite

I took three different classes here: Chemistry 1 (plus lab), differential equations, and history. I've taken classes at five different universities, and JCCC classes were some of the BEST classes I've ever taken. I was really surprised at the high quality of the instruction and demand for excellence. Not only that, but as a JoCo resident, they were by FAR the least expensive classes I've ever taken. I cannot say enough good things about JCCC, and that's from someone with two masters degrees (MsED - KU, MSMechEng - UMKC).

This "college" is ridiculous. The "professors" are unprofessional and don't possess good teaching skills. They actually expect the student to already know what they want. The outside campus is somewhat up kept but the inside of the college …

Bridget Rittinghouse

I transferred from Fort Hays State University. And coming to JCCC was an amazing experience. Coming from a University, you still get the college experience at JCCC. The professors are very caring and the campus is wonderful! I would recommend this community college to anybody.

Jason Sejkora

Alumni here. Checking in on my deceased parent's degree with the Registrar's office. 1st. Woman kept rattling on and spoke over me. 2nd. She was unable to help me in a simple confirmation of graduation, so I was sent to Ms. Whiteheads voicemail. Cool story JCCC. I'll just write down that my mom didn't get a degree, period. It's all good! #pissedIblewmyGIbillhere

I would 100% recommend this school to anyone. It is clean and well maintained. The professors and staff are always willing to go above and beyond for students. I didn’t realize how clean this school was until I transferred to a different school. I miss the cleanliness so much and it has such a beautiful campus with nice gardens.

My time at JCCC was an amazing experience. The campus is beautiful and very easy to navigate as the majority of the building are connected. The library is spacious with dozens of computer stations and desks to study at. They allow 100 pieces of paper printed for free, which really came in handy when taking writing intensive courses. The majority of my instructors were great. Comparing my courses at JCCC to my current 4yr university, I genuinely feel that the level of education I received at JCCC is equal, if not better. Aside from high quality education, one of the key selling points for me is their affordability for Johnson County residents, which has allowed me to attend several years of college without accumulating any debt. The only negative thing I could say about JCCC is the parking. It is not conveniently located and is very crowded.

Matthew Kincaid

Wonderful asset for Johnson County. Helpful courses for traditional and non-traditional students. The campus is actually quite pretty, and it has good dining options and a museum (Nerman) to boot. This school seems to be keeping up nicely with the times. I anticipate its relevance and impact growing over the next decade.

JCCC is a great school. I enjoyed my time there and highly recommend it. The faculty is fantastic and the administrative staff does a great job too. It is a very well run school. JCCC offers a wide variety of programs and opportunities to its students. The price you pay for the high quality of education provided is amazing. There is a reason why kids from around the country and overseas study at JCCC.

The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I understand that being on the staff here may be stressful but the way students are talked to is absolutely unacceptable. There is very little support for full time employed students. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

HVAC program was a mess. Don’t tell me I can start in the spring to pursue my certificate when there is no advance classes offered in fall semester to graduate. Waste of time. Waste of my GI Bill most importantly. Head staff does not care about this situation which is sad to see. Screwing the whole class that started in the spring. They got their money though, I’m sure they are satisfied about that.
