Came here for my tooth pain. The student took a look and told me they gonna put a crown on my tooth. Then the doctor came over and got told with everything. All he said was “ok, I trust you” The dentist who was suppose to supervise the students didn’t even took a look at me! I felt very uncomfortable and went to an actual dentist and found out my tooth was actually fine. I was lucky and made the right decision. Otherwise I would have had a crown on my perfectly normal tooth! Avoid this place kid you wanna do any advanced teeth work other than cleaning.

I have been going to The University of Iowa College of Dentistry for almost ten years and have always had a good experience. Procedures may take longer and yes you also have the trip there and back but the price cannot be beat. All steps are monitored by the teaching staff so you can be sure the quality is A+.

I think they are very professional and even if they are students they enjoy what they do because they learn as they go. There's always an instructor watching them to make sure they do things correctly. They called me and booked my daughter for a surgery when someone else cancelled. They even called days after the surgery to make sure my little one was doing okay! I highly recommend them!

I was going in to have a tooth pulled and knew that they might have some difficulty accomplishing this as my tooth had some cracks in it. The student and his assistant was amazing. They were very caring and when my tooth did not come out liked plan, he knew exactly what to do. Even though he was confident, he still would ask the instructor before moving forward. I would recommend the University of Iowa College Dentistry to anyone. Thank you for taking very good care of me.

The staff and everyone are great, but it does not seem to be ran very well. If you are a student, it is incredibly hard to get seen because every time the office is an hour behind and so it is impossible to schedule with classes. Your appointment time is never the time you’ll actually get seen, and you’ll probably wait 45 mins to an hour after your scheduled time to actually be seen. The staff are incredibly nice though and very helpful.

I went in on an emergency basis, they were very accommodating to get me in as quickly as possible. I ended up having two extractions. The staff were respectful and helped put me at ease, everyone from the receptionist to the dental students to the doctors themselves. I will be going back for any other work I need done.

I've used the U of I Dental Clinics exclusively since moving to Iowa City a few years ago. They always get me in right away and I've never had a problem with any of the students I've been assigned. Work that would have cost me thousands elsewhere was just a fraction of the price at the school. Best of all, I've never had a problem with anything they've done - which includes fillings, root canal, crowns, and an implant. The only reason for a 4 instead of 5 star rating is that you will spend more time in the chair there. Time spent having a doctor of dentistry check and re-check student work. Small price to pay IMHO.

Great doctors and really nice lady at the desk but, in my opinion not worth it. You can never rely on them. They are very hard to get ahold of. When I went in for my teeth the bussiness lady was extremely rude!! She said how can I help you and I told her I was there to get my teeth out and she said okay and what am I suppose to do? Then when she scanned my debit card for payment then she threw it at me. Very disrespectful.

WONDERFUL PEOPLE WORK HERE--ALL THE DENTISTS I HAVE MET ARE JUST SO SMART AND VERY FRIENDLY AND KIND. THE DENTAL ASSISTANTS AND NURSES ARE VERY FOCUSED ON THE PATIENT AND THEIR COMFORT. THE ADMIN PEOPLE ARE SUPER NICE AND HELPFUL OVER THE PHONE AND IN PERSON. THE FACILITY IS BEAUTIFUL AND VERY CLEAN! I AM NOT FOND OF GETTING DENTAL CARE BUT THEY MAKE IT A MORE PLEASANT EXPERIENCE.

best dental experience I have ever had. Briar, a second year student, filled a cavity and put on three sealants. she was so knowledgable and careful with me. I am usually terrified of the dentist and hate any experience sitting in their chair but she made the experience painless and comfortable.

I am extremely pleased with the treatment I received at the Iowa College of Dentistry. It takes a bit of time to get through the steps for checking and x-rays etc. before you get your teeth cleaned but the staff and students are great. I had a particular problem arise after my evaluation where I got an inflamed root in one of my teeth. I called the school and received a timely call back to assess my problem then when the assistant found out what I needed she had my dental student call me to check in and answer any of my questions. He put me at ease over what I was feeling and gave me indicators to look for if things get worse and asked me to call back if I needed anything. I felt it was just as professional as any dentist office. These people are trained really well to be professionals. The other thing I like about the Iowa College of Dentistry is that the costs of treatments is more in line with what the normal person can afford as I have no insurance. I also feel the care is great and with the professional mentors who are dentists that help with consultations once the students develop their treatment plan I feel that they get the best of all possible worlds to help them succeed and that's a benefit to you as a patient. Go for it...these guys are great. Hats off to Andrew Heinisch who treated me -- he treated me and I can tell that he genuinely cared!

I made an appointment to get bonding on my front teeth I had to wait two months to get seen. Finally after I leave I notice that part of the bonding is see through and needs redone. I call and they can't get me in until October Thats another two months I have to walk around with their crappy work. I don't recommend.

My primary dentist is here as well as I have just had my wisdom teeth removed in their oral surgery clinic. I have been very impressed with my care. My dentist and oral surgeon have great bedside manner and are very good at explaining what they will do and my options. The nurses and assistants are just as wonderful, providing a calming environment. I would highly recommend coming here for any dental work. They are very reasonable priced as well.

Since I was last here, about 2 years ago, they've added a booth and ticket station requiring you pay to park in the goddam dentistry parking lot. We arrived 15 minutes early, as requested, for my son's root canal. They still called him back fifteen minutes after his scheduled appointment time, and he's been back there for over three hours!!! Absolutely ridiculous.

I have received dental treatment at this facility for over 35 years. You won't find better, more up to date service anywhere in Iowa. They are the most affordable with a co-pay of only $3 for my insurance. Call for an appointment that you won't regret. Just watch out for the second-hand smoke. Smoking is everywhere on this "SMOKE-FREE" campus.

I went in to get a tooth prepared for a crown. In the morning they were to shape the tooth and make a temporary crown. In the afternoon they would take impressions and order the crown. I was in the chair from 9 AM until 5.15 PM except for 45 minutes for lunch. Their pain killer didn't work or the student didn't know how to use it. I swear the male instructor who came in in the afternoon was high for the first hour or so and barely knew were he was. They crammed a rope under under my gums to spread them from the tooth and cleaned it with cold water and air to take the impression. If they had been trying to get information from me I would have told them any thing they wanted to know, weather I knew it or not. In the end both of the impressions they tried to take were unusable. The instructor nonchalantly told me that I was in a learning environment and I would need to make another appointment and come back. I have had dental work there before and had generally good results, but i wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.

Wouldn't recommend coming here unless you want your teeth to be crooked. Thanks guys! I drove a hour away to get my wisdom teeth removed and you just screwed up my whole bottom teeth. And with no car and i took enough time off work guys basically told me that I'm screwed and good luck. You guys didn't give me a number to call for questions or concerns after I asked 4 different times if I was going to get paper work on aftercare and was told yes. Well you guys like to take advantage on someone who's drugged up because when I was coherent enough to review what I got was all a bunch of paper on how to take pills and what the pills were. Anyone can read a pill bottle.

I've had noting but good experiences with the dental college. The students and staff are friendly and they've done good work on my teeth, including filings and a root canal that have not given me any problems over many years since the work was done. I appreciate the reduced cost and will happily continue to receive care at the dental college.

The staff there helped me feel at ease during the prep for my oral surgery to get all four wisdom teeth removed and answered all questions satisfactorily. I especially liked my doctor as he made me laugh with how he referenced how much puffier my cheeks would get after surgery and how it would be a good look for me. This was my first surgery in general and I would definitely like to go to Iowa City again if I ever need another surgery.

Some reviewers have commented about the extra time required to have a dentist instructor check the student's work. (Well, yeah!) This is not the only option available. I have been going to faculty practice, where the dental faculty have their own office hours and am "worked on" by a faculty member. I find the dental care I receive there to be outstanding in all ways.

The staff is friendly and courteous. I have never had to wait past the time scheduled. All procedures are explained well and they take very good care of you once you are in the chair. I would highly recommend them to anyone especially those who have a "dental" fear issue.

The best dental care I have ever received. Care is the primary concern here, without the push for procedures etc. that one finds in commercial clinics. Having moved, we now happily drive four hours, one way, to continue to work with our trusted regular caregivers at the University.

The two girls who worked on my son were compassionate and so good with him! He was so distracted and content he hardly even noticed his tooth being pulled! We were in and out of this clinic in about an hours time. Definitely great for kids!

This is a great place to get your work done! They take their time to do the job right. Very low key and low pressure! You are given options, which is seldom done anymore. All procedures are reviewed by someone else and you are given the opportunity to chose the option that suites you. Any concerns are address quickly when you call, getting you in asap to take care of them. I highly recommend getting your work done here! The lower cost helps too!

Being a lifelong ISU fan, I was a little sceptical. Lol. But seriously, if your like me and absolutely can't stand traditional dental offices, then please get your services done here. The atmosphere is uplifting, and the students that perform the procedures have better training than most veterans in Linn county that I've been to anyway. Very different way to "get it over with". Cheap prices for the best quality dental care.

A much less expensive but high quality option for orthodontia. Our experience in the student clinic was very positive. The ONLY thing that was a bit challenging was being confined to one day a week for maintenance, but that was made clear to us from the start of the screening process.. Overall, it was great, our concerns about finances and clinical issues were answered very quickly and nicely. I would recommend the student clinic to anyone for orthodontic treatment.

I've always been prone to have cavities and bigger issues with my teeth, even though; I take care of them. I've been to many dentists and they always treat me like I am "less than" because of my issues with my teeth. However, Dr. O at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry was amazing and never treated me with anything, but respect. I highly recommend him!

The College of Dentistry is a prestigious institution that forms part of the University Hospitals. It provides dental health services to thousands of Iowans every year. They go at their own pace and you have to plan ahead of time to ser a doctor. Chances are a student Will see you first, then a profesional, and probably a specialist.

father recently had 2 teeth pulled and the younge lady they had do it broke the tooth next to it becusse, and I quote " everything is made right handed and I'm left handed" and " my west hurts when I twist. She just wiggled back and forth till she broke the one next to it. they told him that he would need to have it filled but offered no discount of anything for breaking it themselves. If the person isnt able to pull a tooth they really shouldn't be having her do one. Now it will cost him hundreds more for THIER mistake.
