This school is so bad with financial aid I had to pay outta pocket for my books cause they took too long with my financial aid. Then after having to pay for my books for one class I waited to receive my fasfa to pay for my other class books, that class dropped me cause I didn't have them and on that same day I finally got my fasfa and it payed for both those classes was asked if I was coming back.... Hell No, if I can get my money back for your false mistake of having me pay for a class that dropped me for not having books...

Good value for CC, especially compared to other places in the state. If only they didn't have an archaic parking policy.

Glad to have accomplished my first step to educational goals at SWIC. 2 associates degrees! Bravo SWIC for helping me get where I want to be.

I honestly feel like they are all about money. My instructors and classmates were wonderful. But if you can’t afford to pay them don’t expect them to help you.

an adjunct professor Mrs Gina Hamm told my pregnant daughter in front of the whole class math class that she did not have to keep her unborn child in a math class what are you thinking , totally unprofessional in all aspects do not send money or kids to this school they step on your rights and demean you in public to shame you

My daughter attends and overall am satisfied with the instructors and the quality of education. However it is more than frustrating when as a parent your purchase the books listed on the syllabus only to find out the first week of class that the instructor changed his mind and now we have to go purchase/rent a different book and will not be able to return exchange the original one. Instructors need to understand that books are not inexpensive and they need to make sure that what they list is what they intend to use. She is a freshman and it has happened both semesters. If nothing else SWIC needs to have a policy in place that addresses situations like this.

I graduated from here with a AS + AA, don’t buy books if you can find em in the library, bring food from home or get snacks from the book store cuz I’ve spent many paychecks at Starbucks and the caf

Some really great teachers and some really bad ones. One of the most ate up sustenance I've ever had to deal with. I've toy graduate your info and transcripts go to third party companies that can do whatever they want with it. College is apparently broke but the dream had no trouble getting a 6 figure check. They pit teachers against each other which creates more hostile environments for the students. You HAVE to double check your own schedules for graduation otherwise the career counselors will just keep signing you up for classeseven of they're not related to your program. Great extra curricular clubs and a few truly amazing teachers but they're limited by administration. Save your self time and trouble and avoid.

The school’s only concern is money & the tutors in the success center talk to you like you’re stupid for coming to them for help.

I honestly love my school! It isn't the biggest college around, but they do have some pretty great instructors who take their time to make sure that you learn and are prepared to take the next step in your academic career. I have also started valuable, lifelong friendships that I would not have made if I did not attend SWIC. I'm a non-traditional student, like many that are returning to school these days. I believe that SWIC is a fostering environment whether you are an older or new student, active and reserved duty military personnel and military vets. There are numerous degree programs, lots of transfer ops; it's just a great school all around.

Mediocre community college. I purposely took early classes to beat the people who obviously didn't care for school, and just did it because it was free crowd.

Each professor is VERY hit-or-miss. I had some incredibly frustrating experiences (instructors that cared even less than the lethargic students) yet had some of the most enlightening professors in my academic experience. The worst came from my fellow students; most of them were not emotionally or academically invested and would often impede the whole classroom.

This place prepared me to transfer to U of I after graduating from West. The classes were a little too easy (it was a little overwhelming after I transferred) and the counselors didn't know what high school AP credit was, but in the end they got the job done. All of my credits from here transferred to UIUC except for my CPR class. I'll take it!

SWIC is a complete joke. My short time there was pathetic. The courses aren't challenging (even higher level math and sciences) and the counseling system is beyond help. Both my brother and I had troubles graduating because of a "counseling mix up" that cost us more time, effort, and frustration. I would NEVER suggest this as a community college to even my worst enemy.

Kimberly Zellers

Friendly and resonable. Can't beat that.

Chris Holmes

It's like you have to take 10 classes per semester if you want to get out in two years.

Jennifer Dial

Really liked this school except for the academic counselors!

Being both a student and an instructor gives me a unique perspective of the college. I have found, on both sides, that a student will only get as much as they put into a course. A lot of of the students seem to feel that since it is a community college that they should be able to slide through the 2 years. And when they are challenged they complain about it instead of actually learning the material. I had one student complain that, even though all the material was available, the instructions did not state which files should be modified. The person's response was that it wasn't fair not to tell them which files to work on. As a student I found that all the classes I've taken have been challenging to different degrees. I've taken electronic, art, German, and film classes all with different levels of difficulty. I've enjoyed them all!!

A mixed experience. Some of the people are nice but the majority are very rude. Luckily my time there will be short. Wouldn't recommend.

After my experience with the guidance counselor, who was very rude and couldn't care less about her job, I decided that Belleville SWIC was not the school for me. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.

Debi Mitchell

Friendly and efficient staff.

My son has loved his first year at SWIC. He learned so much for the field he studied. Since my husband's career is in the same field that my son is studying, my husband was impressed with the class choices and studies (giving a double thumbs up for preparing our son for the field he works). The teachers were also great. The materials of study were on target. But, I, as a parent, was especially impressed with the excellent academic advising, financially assistance advising, and the other support system members. All of them are excellent in knowledge, kind in helping, and humble and sincere (hard to find today). I would give this school a five review because it is well deserved.

Excellent bang for the buck. Quality campus police. It's clean, it looks professional. Teaching staff is generally good, in every department. The success center is phenomenal, and the administrative staff are helpful and professional. This place runs like a well manicured machine. Every idea of community college you have in your head? Toss it out right now. Come here for two years, get your general education requirements complete, and easily transfer to a four year. SWIC also has a phenomenal nursing program, as well as a great HVAC and Welding program.
