When visiting this campus I felt a feeling of peace. The facilities are well kept and clean. A friendly environment and staff was helpful and welcoming.

This school is overpriced and only in it for the money. The dining and housing options are overpriced and subpar for what you are paying for. They’ll trap you into living on campus and paying for a meal plan that you don’t need and won’t use. Half the students should not be there and give the school a bad name. There is little priority given to the liberal arts departments and you’ll often find yourself unable to take any classes towards your major. Most of the professors are wonderful but other than that this school is a money trap and ultimately does not have a good enough name for what you will be paying for and getting out of it. I highly recommend saving your money for a school that wants the best for all the students and not just their wallets. Every single major college in Georgia, which Mercer is considered one of, has a niche, but Mercer in its attempt to fleece the most money out of its student body has abandoned its niche as a liberal arts focused academy in order to compete as a subpar engineering and medical school. Which makes no sense in a state that has Georgia tech, UGA and Emory.

Great engineering school and overall university. This is a true engineering school as opposed to a technologies program. Smaller classes. They actually teach from an implementation point of view instead of just theoretical. I had a job before I graduated. My career has skyrocketed.

My granddaughter is enrolled at Mercer University and we went to visit her. The University campus is beautiful. The school is known for being the oldest private university in GA. We were pleased to see so many new buildings and beautifully referbished buildings. The faculity members that we met were professional, thoughtful, and so kind to us and our granddaughter. There are campuses in several other cities and more than one Medical School.

I went to see my son graduate from the school of Engineering on May 13, 2017. What should have been a joyous event was ruined by Mercer's selection of a liberal has been journalist (hack) who espoused fake news and fake bs. He bashed conservatives, bashed our President who was duly elected by the country, fair and square, and said things that I could never say about President Obama while he was in office. I would have been run out on a rail as a racist and never be welcomed on campus again. But this curmudgeon was allowed to berate those who voted for Trump, and Trump and his administration. He was booed by several families in my section, and the applause was scant, if not merely for respect for the occasion. This graduation was poorly run, it should have had each school recognized, not all together in a big hurry, which still took TOO long...very poorly managed. Just because professors didn't want to stay more than a day to have graduations finished is no excuse to lump all degrees together. Just a bad event altogether. My son and his girlfriend didn't even want to stay for pictures, they were angry about the speakers comments, and the length it took to get a degree. MGSU had an excellent graduation event on the 10th. Mercer would do well to observe how to do it.

Such a great school, but some people don't deserve to be there. They don't care about their academics; some are openly racist; many people don't flush toilets; they blame on their teachers when they recieve bad grades. I just really feel sorry for the school and the community; Mercer really needs to raise its entrance standard.

Mercer University is quickly becoming the premiere educational institution in the South. With a gorgeous campus full of history as well as modern touches, Mercer is exploding with unique features and its own vibrant culture. As a Stamps Scholar at Mercer University, I can confidently say that this school is incredibly challenging regardless of the field of study one chooses. Professors have one-on-one relationships with students that allow them to receive individualized assistance. I have yet to have a professor that did not take an active role in my education both on and off campus. The faculty is one of a kind. We have a top rate athletic community and are best known for beating Duke on 2014--a high note in Mercer's 120 year sports history. The newly built football stadium has also changed the culture on campus and placed Mercer University on the map. I have met lifelong friends and brothers at this university, and I am forever grateful for the impact that Macon, Georgia has left on my life. If you make the wise choice and submit your admissions deposit for this illustrious institution, know that you are following in the footsteps of thousands of men and women who came before you and changed the world for the better. Mercerians are Movers and Shakers! If you want to make a difference in the lives of others and graduate in a position of prestige, this is the school for you. GO BEARS!

If I had to sum up my experience and suggestion about Mercer University, I would just say: run away. If you are a bad person and want to try an expensive trial of what hell will be like, enroll for something in Mercer. First of all, terrible weather and the city is the worst. When I say it, I really mean it. Macon is considered the worst city to live in the United States. There is nothing happening, it's dangerous and people are super disrespectful. Second, employees (not faculty) are super rude. The people who work in the cafeteria act like they don't want to be there and make you feel unwelcome. Food is not good (worst than average for university cafeterias), dirty, cockroaches and rats everywhere, including dorms. If you want to turn your good years of university in a bad experience, you know the place.

I attended Mercer University between 2007 and 2011, earning a BA on the Macon campus. My experience with the university was extremely positive, and I grew both intellectually and as a person. A lot has changed at Mercer in the past three years, but I know that the university's commitment to excellent education still remains. There are even more opportunities to obtain a great college education, and I would highly recommend attending Mercer to anyone who would listen.

I transferred to the Macon campus to be greeted by an unclean room to begin the spring semester and a family of rodents. My last apartment had termites and flies, and no the flies were not from me but from the fools who left trash outside in the breezeway and here and there. I LEARNED NOTHING HERE TO ASSIST ME IN MY PRE-MEDICINE (BIOLOGY) DEGREE but RACISM IS IN YOUR FACE FROM PEERS, ADMINISTRATION AND INSTRUCTORS. Don't think the campus staff will help you with "STUDENT affairs" because you're just another to them that will probably pay lots of money in loans and interest to attend this "fine, historical institution." I learned more for my degree at a public college, and yes, folks, I WORK for my grades, and I don't mean whoring myself out like some did at Mercer. To give you a picture outside of my life, there are groups, all "white," a blend of "white" and those who wish to be "white," and the others (the "coloreds"). There is not much diversity and for last, NEWLY GRADS, you will be contacted annually for donations to Mercer because Mercer LOVES money. Too bad that money won't go into your education or your safety. The police there is a joke!

Too expensive of tuition for what you get. Great campus life, but for the money you could get a similar experience for way way less. They are also expanding the campus, which is good but the expanded it with a new football stadium. Just seems like they are trying to lure more students in then give student more for their money. Take my advice, get your 4 year at a state school with way cheaper tuition and use the money you saved to get a graduate degree from a better university like GA Tech or UGA. Those post graduate degrees will take your further then an undergrad from Mercer.

As an alumnae of Mercer, I can't say enough good things about my experience as a student. Every professor I had was easy to talk to and accessible any time I needed help with a class. My advisers did a fantastic job of helping me stay on track and graduate with my two degrees. Every staff member I met from the professors to the Registar's office to the UC Food Court employees was friendly and helpful. The school spirit at Mercer is top notch and welcomes every student with open arms. I lived on campus every year and never had a problem with housing or the food served in the caf. When I left Mercer, I felt prepared and had obtained a job to work in my chosen industry. Being a part of such a tight knit community made me never want to go home - Mercer was my home.

The teachers in the Computer Science department are misleading, pretending to care about their students. They choose the students they want to teach. It is unfortunate because, I had high hopes before joining the University and after one semester my motivation had diminished. Stay away if you do not want a hole in your pocket over sub-par teaching standards.

...when choosing a college or university one should do indepth research and visit the campus. The website of Mercer portrays an unique college experience where all can matriculate and thrive. I smile... knowing now, that it was all a great Marketing Campaign! Some may reference it as the "Ivy League" University of the South, but I dare to differ. Offering courses that do not align with standards for higher education, faculty that are tardy or absent from classes, poor dormitory living condtions, over priced, and a flawed admissions process is subpar.

This is a crap university and doesn't command any respect from the world of academia. The administrators here have degrees from for profit colleges and little relevant experience in their fields. Military stay away it's a GI Bill TA pit

Mercer was such a lovely school upon arrival. I was amazed with how beautiful the school payment and design. The grass fields were massive and kept clean. The people were very accepting of anyone and led of this powerfull vibe of joy. Loved my stay at Mercer for not only the school but the people. Thank you for this opportunity.

A university which exists to generate revenue. The MANDATORY meal plans and on campus housing provide sub-par services for premium prices. A student pays ~$800/m to stay in the required on campus housing which each have some combination of mold, decay, and bad central heating, but off-campus apartments of significantly better quality cost ~$500/m when split between roommates. The school underfunds the classrooms as well. The Computer Science Department has the worst computers on campus, and the classrooms don't have enough seats for all the students enrolled in class. Meanwhile the school puts up a million dollar statue of an eagle in front of the library, as if just to mock the students who attend the school. At basketball games I have seen the school cut cheques for thousands of dollars to charity when the school's own students are suffering. If you are considering going here, save yourself the stress and reconsider.

When my wife and I visited for one of their prospective student activities, we were pleasantly surprised with how well spoken the student guides were, and how knowledgeable they were about the campus history. It didn't take long for us to be won over, and our child - who was planning on attending another university - quickly realized Mercer was the place they wanted to be. Two years into this operation and we are all still convinced Mercer is the perfect choice!
