I go to this school, I would say that it is worth the money and the time. You will receive a great education and the professor are willing to help you no matter what. I love this school and I'm glad I made it a choice for my education. Great architecture as well and the history up here is great. Awesome place to visit and if your looking for a great small college to attend this is a great one.
Go visit. Take the tour, this is history and one of the jewels of St. Augustine.
It is worth a tour. So much history.
Very cool place to visit!! Right in the middle of St. Augustine :) Gorgeous to look at and extremely well maintained! Definitely worth swinging by and enjoying the beautiful design and courtyard :)
What a beautiful building, especially the hall and even the toilets.
Amazing architecture, beautiful artwork and craftsmanship. The $10 tour is worth the price of admission. Only two tours a day 10 am and 2 pm so plan ahead because they do sell out. Most areas are restricted if you are not on the tour.
Tour is all together too short for all the history in this beautiful building.
Nice historical campus
This is truly an impressive stop on anyone's vacation. The beauty of the wood, wall coverings, and carvings are on par with Biltmore House in Asheville.
The building is amazing and the courtyard and main hall are worth a few pictures and are opened to all. The tour gets you in the dinning room to see the Tiffany windows but these are not very impressive. And it gets you into the entertainment room which is very nice with some amazing Tiffany chandlers. A very average tour for $10.
Beautiful architecture, and fantastic history, definitely worth a moment to look around (and dream you could afford spending a several-month long vacation here like the Flagler-era elite could). The tour is student run (twice daily 10am and 2pm, $10 adult ticket), which is interesting. It was very informative, although a little short (a brief description of the outside architecture, and you visit 2 rooms other than the main entryway, the women's parlor and the ballroom, which is now the college cafeteria). The parlor itself is worth it though, with its decorations, paintings, and period clothing on display. The Tiffany works are definitely worth it as well, as it is the largest privately owned collection of windows in the world. Beautiful, and definitely worth a moment to look at!
I graduated in 2018 and was a Psychology & Religion/Philosophy double major. The college prepared me very well for graduate school & the professors are top notch. In my four years I wrote between 300-400 pages worth of papers, it was definitely worth it!
Take the tour! A flagler student took told us about the building designs, what they meant, who made or painted what, what it was made of. Spoke about henry flagler and his wives and children and funny traditions. About a half hour small tour got to learn a ton. I cant wait to bring my friends and family to enjoy it with me.
Definitely a great place to visit. Fabulous work done on the entire building. I admired by seeing the outside of the building and bought tickets to visit the whole building but they showed only two places with the tickets. That was very disappointing. You can’t see everything only outside and two rooms!
I graduated from there and my dad was stationed there.
terrible
Beautiful campus that is partially open to the public to admire and take pics.
Very photogenic building!
A really beautiful place to walk through and spend some time. We were enjoying the shade after an exhausting tour. The architecture is really beautiful and you can also enter the dome. If you want to relax of a hot day go in the dome and enjoy the cold and the nice roof. I am sure you will enjoy your stay as much as I did. For me personally one of the most beautiful things in st Augustine
Do the tour!!! Amazing. The largest Tiffany stain glass collection, the story of Flagler. Take the tour!
2014 vacation
The building is absolutely gorgeous on the inside, but the tour did not really deliver for me. Working there is probably a good gig for the undergrad students in the summer, but it doesn't really do much in terms of quality standards. Our tour guide was knowledge about the college, but also full of tangential comments that weren't all that interested, and the delivery & pace of the speech were off - especially for the 'jokes'.
Tour is highly informative and recommended.
Beautiful college, gorgeous architecture and art from the 1800's. A piece of Florida history not to be missed. Tours are given Daily and reasonably priced. You can see a.lot for free and the gardens are amazing
The Flagler College area is absolutely beautiful. The Spanish architecture is breathtaking. From the terracotta roofs to the red iron gaits and railings, this place is eye candy. Walked around and looked at the various hotels and other various buildings, all the same style and flair. When you tour the downtown Saint Augustine area, venture a little further down to see these sites.
This is a stop spot if visiting St. Augustine. Nice architecture and design. Good place to take nice photos. You could take a tour or explore on your own.
I graduated from Flagler College in 2011. Attending this college was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Gorgeous architecture and campus sitting in the beautiful St Augustine.
Beautiful architecture ❤️
What an amazing building, the architecture is very impressive. Be sure to check out the inside too, it's just as amazing!
We didn't enter the college. We went during Christmas and were able to see the lighting's and that looked beautiful!
One of the 10 best small private colleges in America and it looks like Hogwarts to boot! You can't beat that!
Went sightseeing here and the property was sooo beautiful and antique !! Did not get a tour but it's def worth walking around and seeing all of the beautiful work done so many years ago
The old Ponce de Leon hotel
Very neat historic place to visit. Beautiful architecture. Worth a stroll through.
The tour is always great, always done by one of their students. Great bits of history and a nice stop inSt. Augustine.
Beautiful. Quaint. Historic. Clean. Cozy. Welcoming. Would have loved to see the dorms. Tried to encourage one of my four to look into the majors. Who wouldn't want to be somewhere warm and beautiful!
My niece toured the campus... And honestly I think we all fell in love. Amazing architecture... Like walking back in time to a different era. The school stands tall academically... And still maintains its close knit community feeling.
Beautiful building.
Such a beautiful college! Worth to visit.
Great place to see the antiques and architecture. Amazing collection representing the rail road era. A must see place for visitors. Historic place.
Beautiful College to just walk around and see the history and architecture
Beautiful campus. Amazing architecture and beautifully maintained.
It's a historic place to visit but they don't offer a whole lot of the subjects I'm interested in. Plus, ever since my visit, they've been sending me mail with the totally wrong name on it. "Elizabeth Yoth." Don't know how they got that but I guess it's similar to my real name.
Graduated in 2016. Flagler is an amazing school with supportive faculty and a beautiful environment. What more could you as for? I would recommend Flagler to absolutely anyone that takes their personal growth and future career seriously. In only three years since graduation I have bought and sold my first home thanks to the amazing job I was able to get through the Business Organizations on campus.
It is such a beautiful college I had never seen any thing this nice before my sister had just told me about over the phone and I look it up and I was amazed when I had saw the front of the building and I am like wow you know
Amazing college! Worth visiting for sure
This place is haunted. Do not come here if you do not want to become possessed. Currently in my first semester and too many bad things have happened to my friend Morgan Mott. We are both transferring next semester. Wish us luck <3
A historic, architectural college that's well worth visiting while you're in St. Augustine.
One of my favorite places to visit in Florida! My son will be graduating from Flagler in December - so happy he went to Flagler, but sad his time in St. Augustine is coming to an end. Great college for those looking for an affordable private school.
Beautiful grounds, interesting self guided tour, nice stop on our walking path through town
Flagler college is a great place for visiting, amazing architecture and exciting art work on every level, opportunity for many
Don't miss this awesome.
Amazing teaching amazing designs I would love to get accepted in the college
WARNING: THOTS ON CAMPUS. BE ON PATROL AT ALL TIMES
I currently attend the Public Administration Program (PAD) at Flagler College and have found it to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The professors seek to enrich your life through education and are focused on student success. The campus is set in beautiful downtown St Augustine and the community is very close knit, many students walk or bike to wherever they want to go. I'm looking forward to the day I am able to call myself Flagler Alumni.
19 Acres & a College! When you first see the majestic structure as you walk through the outside perimeters of the oldest city in America, you really don’t realize, inside the massive set of buildings, sits Flagger College, or any other college for that matter. Your initial thought would be to think of City Hall, The Mayor’s Mansion, or even a historical library being housed there, after all, why not? It wasn’t until after I left the area that I discovered, a College occupies the stunning architectural pieces and the nineteen acres in which the buildings are sitting. So naturally, I went back. Having studied architecture, I was more curious about the buildings rather than the historical value. And I guess, I must have been absent from school when we learned about Flagger, because the only Flagger, I ever heard of, was the street near Miami Beach. But Mr. Flagger must have been quite a commanding figure around here. Possibly a Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Carnegie or even a Pierpont Morgan type; way too many things bearing his name here, you kind of lose track. So I finally find a parking spot and I take a very fast walk through the center of the square and from what I was able to gather, it was Flagger who built the main building which was The Ponce de Leon Hotel. Throughout my escape into the grounds of this timeless historical place, I couldn’t help but to wonder, what would be like to be a student among the many that parade the campus of this wondrous estate. Lucky & awesome!! Indeed... that is what, it must be like. Which leaves me to ponder, do they even know that?
My friends and I stopped by to check out the beautiful architecture and interior design that can be seen in a very small amount of time. We were woo'd!
What a beautiful college! Overall, St. Augustine is one of the most beautiful cities in North America. The Architecture at Flagler College is outstanding. Great spacious places and lots of gardens around the campus. I visited this place during summer and was impressed how wonderful it looks. Make sure to walk around the campus and apriciate the tranquil atmosphere.
Didnt get to do the tour, but this college is just beautiful!! Recommend a trip here!Beautiful fountain out front. Next time we will have to do the tour.
Absolutely beautiful college campus full history. It sits in the amazing city of Saint Augustine and is a must-see.
Wow, so much history and beauty held within and outside of this fantastic campus. I definitely recommend the tour although just walking the ground is a sight to see as well!
Amazing, great value (free for local residents) and informed students to give you personal tour. Beautiful building and fabulous artifacts, well worth a visit.
I didn't want to go on this tour but my sister, Rita Haley insisted and it was very nice. Worth the see.
Amazing tour!
Nice architecture
Incredible building. Historical building build by Edison and other famous figures. Incredible artwork. Incredible history. A must-tour campus. Beautiful carvings. Beautiful glasswork. Everything has so many deep meanings. It’s awe inspiring. Please visit this incredible campus.
Took the historic tour and it was amazing! It's a must do!
We went on the tour today. I believe our guide's name was Trevor. He was awesome! It is definitely worth it if you get the opportunity to take the tour.
Trevor was our tour guide gave lots of information beautifully kept Ponce de Leon hotel or Flagler College highly recommended.
Such a beautiful historical campus. The outside alone is worth a million pictures. Could walk around for hours taking pictures and admiring.
A lot of awesome architecture to check out. It's definitely a relic of a time long past. It's not very big so you can take a short tour or just check out the sights yourself and be done in a very reasonable amount of time. Definitely a place you should stop if you're in St. Augustine.
It's beautiful and historic.
I toured Flagler College and downtown along with my brother. Architecture of this college is fabulous. Some of the detail is absolutely remarkable. Nice tour available without ever stepping foot on the property. Plenty of photo opportunities. I’d like to see the inside of some of the buildings at some point on a later more in-depth tour.
The Tiffany stained glass is spectacular. Flagler College is a beautiful building with rich architectural history. Amazed how well it has withstood to the most recent hurricanes. Its definitely a must see.
Although my husband and I have walked the campus a few times, it wasn't until a recent visit that we decided to go on the tour. At a gift shop just inside the entrance we purchased our tickets and were led around by a student guide with probably 50 other people. I would definitely recommend going on the tour! We learned how Flagler College used to be the Ponce de Leon Hotel and how the rooms were redesigned to be dorm rooms, but you can't see those since they are occupied. The guide also teaches you about the architectural choices, the artists that did the jaw-dropping murals in the lobby and dining hall, and Henry Flagler. Going on the tour is the only way to see inside the dining hall and museum area with artifacts from the Flagler's and the time period of the hotel. On a side note, the doors to the restrooms in the lobby are heavy -impressively built.
Beautiful buildings and architecture. Wish more was open to the public
Taking the free architectural tour at Flagler College was absolutely fascinating and beautiful! It was like time traveling back to the Gilded Age where conspicuous luxury and customized environs and decor knew no bounds. Learning the history of the visionary team behind the project and the short amount of time this hotel was completed yielded many surprises for us!
What a beautiful college! The entire campus was stunning. Plenty of things to do around St. Augustine as well as the surrounding area
***Choose Another College*** My son graduated from Flagler College and I would have to say that when he started there he was a normal young man. He is now someone I love dearly but I have trouble relating with. His liberal views, the long hair, the clothes from thrift shops, the poor hygene, the tatoos, etc. If you want your son or daughter to have the "Just Get By" mentality then this is the place to go. We have several friends and relatives who graduated from Flagler College and they share all the same views, listen to the same music, live the same lives, pretty much look the same......And by the way, they all "Just Get By"........Barely.
Definitely worth the time and effort to take the tour so you be able to see more places in depth.
What a Beautiful Place, i cant imagine to study here....that would be so tranquil. Inside you can have a Guided Tour.... A small part of the collage can be done by yourself. But keep in mind that there are restrictions entering certain hallways since this is still a College. In my opinion this is by far the best place to go to if you visit Saint augustine first. They provide beautiful restrooms for men and women.
Very beautiful school! My fiancée and I love visiting different college campuses and this one is by far the most fantastic we have visited.
A very gorgeous campus to visit while you’r enjoying the St. Augustine!
Visited for the afternoon historic tour. This facility is simply stunning. It’s very existence is pivotal to what we now know as modern day Florida. The tour was interesting and hosted by one of the attending college students. While she did get a bit “tour-guidey”, she had some great insight into the main building’s history. The tour itself is just over an hour and takes you into some rooms you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. A small portion of the tour is outdoors, so weather could be a factor. Our tour guide did a fantastic job picking a nice, comfortable, shady spot for our outside stop. If you’re in the area, and looking for brief afternoon activity, then you can’t go wrong with a historic tour of this campus.
Beautiful building - a historic landmark- formally the Ponce de Leon. Walk in for free or take a tour. Worth the stop
Ill start by saying that I am not your average college student. I took a few years off after high school and was working full time when I received my acceptance letter. It was a hard decision to leave a decent paying job and go back to school, but it may have been the best decision I have ever made. The reason I give Flagler 5 stars, is primarily because of the teachers. Yes the campus is stunning, I’ve spent hours just walking around and admiring the architecture, and yes its right next to the beach, but the teaching staff put those other amenities to shame. For most of my education it feels like it was me versus the teacher, at Flagler it’s you and the teacher versus the course material. The curriculum is demanding, but your teachers want you to succeed and will go to extraordinary lengths to help you get the most out of your courses. If you show that you want to be there, and you want to work hard and learn, they will bend over backwards to help you. Just one example of the extraordinary teaching staff is Dr. Allison Roberts. I am in my last year here, and I needed a course to graduate that was only taught during the fall. My own lack of foresight almost stopped me from graduating on time, and frankly, I was very distraught. Dr. Roberts is one of my teachers this semester as well, and when she heard about my predicament, she offered to teach me the course herself during the spring as an independent study. While dealing with a full course schedule, and a very busy life, Dr. Roberts decided to go out of her way and devote a large chunk of time just to help one student graduate on time. I can’t recommend this place enough.
I can't really say much since I didn't enter the building but I have to give it 5 stars for the exterior alone. Beautiful, very detailed. If I have a chance to go back, I'll go for a tour.
One of the top locations to see in St Augustine! Even if you don't pay for a two or at least walk into the entranceway and the grounds which is quite interesting by itself
Visiting St. Augustine? Don’t leave until you walk through the doors of Flagler College. Step back in time as you view the breath taking dome that adorns the grand lobby. The garden courtyard is worth the trip. Love the architecture!!! Slow down and enjoy the beautiful views.
Beautiful campus. Love the architecture and all the intricate designs inside and outside. Didn't do a tour this time, but would love to next time!
My favorite place in St Augustine.
Beautiful facility incredible architecture
Beutiful place
Students freindly. Landmark. Unforgettable experience. Simply breathtaking. For those who love architectural wonders, this is a must.
I graduated from Flagler and have also been an adjunct professor. It is a wonderful school. For the student "trying to escape," I hope you find a school you enjoy. Flagler does have notable alums. Research is the first key to success in being a student. Here are some of the alums: Peter J. Boylan, retired U.S. Army Major General, President of Georgia Military College Laura Croft, American Model Lisa De Pasquale, Political columnist Linda Evans (author) Scott Lagasse, Jr., NASCAR driver Greg Lake Theresa Meeker, Actress and Writer Robert Reyes, professional Basketball player This school is rich in history, has strong academia and professors, well rounded programs, small enough classes to gain one on one attention and in a beautiful part of the country. I received a tremendous education.
The most beautiful place I've ever been in. Please take the tour. It's only 12$ but with a ton.
I graduated from Flagler College in 2010. It is a great school in a great city. I would love to move back to Saint Augustine someday.
Good overview of the St. Augustine history. Nice displays with the instrument room Very unique antique rooms
Very interesting place to visit with a lot of history.
Haven't even attended yet, I am set to for this fall, but they neglected to tell my planned roommate and I that you can't room with different years at this school and they're extremely unprofessional already. I'm now roomed with a stranger, rather than the girl I've gotten to know the past 5 months. Their rules are absolutely atrocious when it comes to residency life. I really hope something changes in the fall or I'll be heading back home for the spring semester.
Talking about arquitectura, it is beautiful, construction is very good maintenances, gardens are very pretty and there's also classic music to give the place cultural status.
What an awesome piece of historic architecture this place is! Loved the tour and the old world feel of this place. Further, it’s full of firsts for its time. I’ll not spoil it for you but if you’re a history buff as I am you can’t afford to miss a stop at this place!!
Perfect Indoor activity for a rainy day. The tour shows you a few place around the college that you can not access on your own. It's $10 and they are hourly from 10-3. There isn't a ton of walking, so if you have elderly people in your group they can keep up no problem. The tour is done by students, we had Trevor, he was an amazing tour guide. He was well educated on the history of the building and answered every question that we had. The sights were gorgeous and the tour wasn't terribly long. This is a definite must do in the old City.
This is one of my favorite places to shoot pictures in Florida. Came here 30 years ago and it has only gotten better.
I am a freshman this year and plan on transferring next fall. The school is very nice and so are the people, but the rules are ridiculous. I feel like I came here and got a full time baby sitter. If it weren't for my friends and the beach nearby I would hate it.
Amazing architecture! Beautiful grounds.
Flagler college is absolutely beautiful but that’s the only thing they have going for them. The dorms are infested with termites and the dining hall food is absolutely the worst in the country. Classes are super easy because the teachers aren’t qualified, despite having degrees. If you come here you will have no support from an advisor or any teacher. My FYS teacher would walk in late to class and tell us that the school gave her too many jobs and that she’s too busy. (Didn’t learn/do anything in that class) My advisor would never respond to my emails especially when I asked for assistance on transferring. I would highly recommend not attending Flagler College. I fell in love with this college at first sight and my freshmen experience has been nothing but a disaster.
The tour was fantastic. A lot of very interesting history and beautiful architecture. Carson was our tour guide and was extremely knowledgeable and passionate with a great sense of humor.
Very beautiful place with a lot of history to walk around and soak in !!
This is one of the most beautiful colleges that I have seen. Just take a few hours to walk around and photograph the wonderful sights. Read up on the history before you come and you will have a little knowledge of the place and what you are looking at. The oldest city has so many places with outstanding history and this one is a must.
Not much respect for the deans and how they handle things. They run a corrupt residence life program. The school has strict, unnecessary rules due to the conservative Christians funding the college. Zero tolerance drug policy, but it's completely ok to get a DUI with a BAC of .27 and get sympathized by the deans. But if you get caught with even minuscule amount of pot OFF CAMPUS you will most likely get suspended (if a police officer reports it to the school) and get shamed by the deans, who also not show total respect for you (being an adult). Pretty twisted right. Besides that, I love the school; the teachers, the students, the campus and location. But if I knew about these dumb rules before I committed I'm not too sure if I would of gone. I've seen countless of people get kicked out and it's a shame, they've all been good students and respectable young adults. I really wish this school would let go of its conservative knots and modernize.
Historic place for some great shots.
Beautiful historical place with gorgeous atmosphere inside. Nice and clean restroom. Beautiful yard inside with Fontaine
Visiting the beautiful grounds and interior is a must if you're taking a stroll around St Augustine.
I believe it is the most beautiful college in US.
There’s a lot of amazing history to be learnt Saint Augustine. This beautiful building has amazing architecture on the grounds are beautiful.
Never attended classes here but it has a building seems second to none. Looks like it was hewn from one giant piece of rock but instead it was build like all the rest from smaller components. Looks solid like it was however. It is gigantic and is still done in a completely artistic way right down to the mace balls used as fence decoration that say don't tread on this building's grass in a classy way. I could spend all day just snapping pictures here.
