School is great it self staff wise, but there a lot of issues going on with the school and they just don't care to fix them, elevators are always out of service and it has been 3 weeks already that the cat way from the parking lot to beacon hall has been closed only making students go all the down and go back up again only delaying students to their classes. Their focus is all on that new building that won't do much for the students.

Community College is a great way to get ahead. Housatonic is a great way to waste time on the phone not being able to contact anyone, a great way to sit in class and learn nothing while still achieving fantastic grades. Most workers at Housatonic do not care and take their time for any request made. The teachers unfortunately are the only ones who care but to the point of almost passing everyone because they feel bad for everyone there. The credits are barely merit worthy; therefore you will have loads of trouble trying to transfer credits to any other college you plan on attending. (unless the college is affiliated with Housatonic) The students are friendly but keep your guard up because most students feed off the hard working and smart ones. Housatonic is in need of major revamping and I would recommend attending any other community college or local university for your own academic career and for your mental health.

I was very shocked to see how great this college is, I had low expectations for a community college. Housatonic turns out to have the most art out of any community college in the USA. I specifically enjoyed having 27 inch screen mac desktop screen to work with in graphic design. The teachers are very human and helpful. The only complaint I have is with regular tutors, they're not too good. But the intensive course tutors are great.

Sorry, not a good experience with the president's point of view.

Went here for my associates. Nice open campus after the addition of the second building . They are in the process of doing an addition for a third building due to such high enrollment . Professors are great get a lot of adjunct ones from surrounding four year colleges for a fraction of the price you'd pay there .

Community College price but an high quality level of stufg to learn. With a job and other responsibilities it isnt a simple 2yr school for me. Though I love arriving to campus and learned so much over the years. Most of campus is very spacious. Though can be cramped when a new semester starts, can always find a place to sit and get stuff done. Provides a motivating atmosphere to work and succeed.

It is hard to get in contact with someone who works in the school. I have been calling every department at the school for days, and not once have they picked up their phone. The customer service department needs major improvement.

School has a lot of excellent services, teachers, and although there was a new building added for education expansion, the faculty staff is awful. From the Financial aid, Admission, to the security guards, I'm not sure who is more unprofessional. It seems like their willingness to help students is often offered more to day time students than night session attenders. I've lost count on how many times I would call either of the Dept, specially during the early weeks of Aug for assistance during registration season, and all I get is an attitude, sarcasm, and helpless solutions from the staff. So much for enthusiasm from the community school staff for brighter futures. I hope this issue gets fixed so that the future candidates won't ever have to deal with all this nonsense.

Good Afternoon everyone, My name is Norma. I applied here and this was my only choice of school that I wanted to go to, I got accepted but that's the only thing Housatonic has done for me. As appropriate as I'm trying to be about their school, their staff sucks. Nobody picks up the phone and if someone does, she's usually a rude person. Their FA people suck. I apologize but thats the only word to describe them. But, hey, this is a school with an 8% graduation rate. Anyways, I've been having trouble with them successfully submitting my financial aid, my mom cant work due to being disabled and I recently got a job. I've been in the same process since November of 2014. They said my mom's social security is incorrect, and we retyped it twice, all times which never needed to be corrected. The Financial Aid said they'd email me within 6 weeks and I didnt get anything. I went there recently and now they said 8 weeks. If you got a dollar back from taxes, you could pretty much pay your whole tuition; according to them. If there's one person there that you need to talk to, her name is Karen Touch. She's helped me throughout the way and I'm so grateful for her. She is from the CONTACC EOC and she doesn't work for the school, it just happens to be where she works AT. Sorry for the rant, but I don't want anyone else wasting their time here like I did.

Housatonic is a good school, however there are things that do need to be worked on. It is very difficult to speak to someone over the phone. Even when you give up and leave a message, I have NEVER received a call back. Because of this, i have transfered over to Norwalk Community college , where it is much easier for me to get a hold of staff. I am however pleased with the upcoming Fall 2015 scheduling for online and evening classes.

I went to Housatonic right out of high school. From fall 2012 to winter 2015, I attended. The professors were professional and helpful. I could email or call or see them during their office hours if I needed to speak (I prefer in person). All the professors I had were passionate and knowledgeable. I transferred from the science program to the fine arts program. The school and my advisor were helpful in this transition. (Personally, every process/interaction was quick and easy) It was a great choice for me. I found the fine arts department to be a great group of people. Very dedicated and all successful in their fields. They didn't just become teachers, they had/have careers and are extremely talented. A little quirky, but what artist isn't? They really helped me improve my art and gave me advice on selling my art. Aside from the actual classes, my favorite part was the fantastic cafeteria. Honestly, I still go back! I still wander around downtown sometimes - that's where HCC is. Its not idyllic but its not as tough as the streets of Manhattan. There's a few oddballs but in 2 years of night courses I never felt unsafe. There's good restaurants and a few shops, concerts in the summer. I graduated and transferred to an art college, almost all of my credits transferred. I'm at a smaller college now, to get my BA, and I miss the convenience of being in a downtown area, near a park and print shop, and really miss the cafe !

I personally didn't graduate, but I studied for almost three years there and it was pretty great. Especially in the higher level science and math courses, the teachers know you're paying good money to be there and they know you're an adult. They don't baby you and they respect you. I've had many difficulties, but my hard work was matched by an engaged and earnest professor willing to help me along the way. I could rattle on and on but it'll never fully grasp just how pleasant of an experience my time there was. I hope the new building means they could offer more courses and maybe even Bachelor's degrees in the future.

Housatonic community college Is one of the Best Colleges I have attended. Academically, and socially, this college is well rounded. HCC has Great teachers, that honestly want to see their students succeed.i can only tell you this because this was me, a student who was extremely stressed about the material and course work. Enrolling into HCC from a pervious college, I did not have the funds for school. when I applied for a HCC scholarship I was more than fortunate To have Received grant.YES from School. I have totally made the correct choice to attend HCC. I was nervous at first, but it’s the realization Of coming out of your comfort zone, to achieve your goals and aspirations. I am truly blessed and more than thankful to attend Housatonic community college. Thanks for providing me a nice environment, and more important great food from the great chefs in the kitchen!
