Administration extremely disorganized. Registration process incredibly convoluted and unclear, you're pretty much left to your own devices on a foreign platform. Student services office unhelpful; it resembles speaking to a machine. Teachers are mediocre.

LTA K. has allowed SBCC students in classes requiring medical, fingerprint, and background checks to interact with children while not meeting the requierments demanded by law. Proper medical checks (blood check) and or documentation proving health (communicable disease free) necessary to work with children have not been properly checked. In one particular case, half a semester went by before LTA King asked for the blood work. There are many more examples, that SBCC must look into. When will SBCC look into this? Children could have potentially been exposed to international preditors and or communicable diseases. Due to her negligence, and the schools lack of oversight. Does SBCC keep all email records? Should relative agencies open up channels to review such records? When employees and faculty change emails are old email addresses and their content saved? Who’s responsibility is it if children are harmed due to LTA negligence? Orfalea children's center "Kinko's" /lab school? SBCC? LTA K.T.K? Your supervisor? All involved? Emails would be one form of proof. Showing when the required documents were or were not provided. Hard copies or lack of would also prove weather or not sbcc students were allowed to work with children and continued working with children without what’s necessary to protect children. Background and medical checks required by law. How many cases are there? Blue group assistant why say racist things? Not necessary. Your racist murmurations in the work place, is not appropriate. Your racist remarks in the presence of children is disgusting. As eloquent as you are with your sad language and views. Green group lead instructor forcing children to give each other “massages” when disagreements occur between children? There are other ways for children to work out their differences without forcing them to touch each other. Green group lead, you shouldn't yell at young students because they have disagrements with your child. Green group lead instructor, why does your father get special privileges to speak and interact with Santa Barbara City College students durring observation periods? Green group lead, not many employees are allowed to bring ones own child to work. Your work behavior and special family privileges should be reviewed. LTA K.T.K. Student timecards signed in and out in the morning. Almost all students allowed under your supervision to do so. Accumulated hours not meeting the minimum requirements? Doesn’t it defeat the purpose of a timecard when signing in and out at the same time? LTA King's treatment of D.S.P.S. students is wrong. Condescending belittlement to those with diminished mental capacities is the worst kind of bullying. Your qualities of sociopathic behavior are coming to light. I hope for the sake of SBCC, LTA king's work and interactions are reviewed. After, may appropriate action be taken if required. Parents please be aware and ask questions. Went here for a year and transferred to USC for mechanical engineering. The teachers here are very comparable to a four-year(like USC) in terms of quality. I really loved the free services offered at SBCC: When I was struggling with math, the STEM center really came through with free tutoring and a calculator to use for the year(I spent a lot of time there), I used the library and LRC resources for my essays(everyone was very helpful), I only used the student health services once but friends used it for all kinds of problems including everything from mental health to std testing, I was at the academic counciling office almost once a week and always got my problems resolved. The location is safe and beautiful. The social life is pretty good. Overall, SBCC, the teachers, and the free services really helped me be able to transfer and enjoy my time in the process.

The education here is almost on level with the 4 year I transferred to afterwards. The problem is getting through in 2 years like you're supposed to. The math and english requirements almost always demand 3 years of studying here till you can transfer.

I am so glad that I contacted Mr. Andrade's office. All of his staff helped me so very much and made me feel safe and free. I was so sacared when i had my dui, terrible experince. I don't know why they have students who don't know anything and are so unwillingly to help working in all the departments. I have been going to this school for 2 years and I have NEVER had a good experience talking to any of them and they have NEVER given me the help I've asked for.

I'm from Portland and after looking at schools up and down the West Coast and the South West states this place has a lot of options that are hard to find elsewhere and it is affordable. More important to me is that they have what I'm looking for specifically. I look forward to attending next year when I get residency requirements out of the way. As far as the haters over the pledge of allegiance.....so what. We're all American adults...not 1st grade school children. Relax, not a big deal.

I'm so glad I went to SBCC. After 3 years as a biology major I transfered to UCLA and graduated this year. This review is a comparison to my experience at UCLA. I enjoyed my time at SBCC more than UCLA. The teachers, in my experience, cared more and we're equally informed as at UCLA. The students at SBCC all really wanted to be there and were eager to help. For example my experience in organic chemistry at SBCC was great. Classmates were always there to assist others in mastering the material in class and in lab. The experience of friends at UCLA that took ochem there was terrible, from the teachers to the competitive classmates. I highly recommend SBCC to anybody.

Its been over a decade since ive been at sbcc, but it was a great school. It was challenge. It really prepared me to compete at UCSB, though some city colleges don't. I was not an ambitious student in high school. However, I came to love political science, philsophy, psychology, criminal justice/law and Jazz because of SBCC. I graduated from UCSB because I was inspired by great teachers at SBCC.

Had an amazing time at SBCC. Even though classes were impacted (So many people wanting to come here), I always found great support with professors. What helped me out a lot were the people in EOPS and in the Transfer Center (TAP Program). High recommend if you want to attend the #1 Community College in America!

Top rated community college apparently, but it is still a community college. Amazing campus overlooking ocean is a big plus, but that doesn't really have anything to do with academics or organization. I think the student body is probably on the whole above average compared to many community colleges, and that the school attracts some very good profs as far as community colleges are concerned (largely due to location). The reason for the three stars is that the administration is slow and rigid in certain ways and classes are sometimes labelled differently at time of sign-up and at time of taking the class. I signed up for a class that had one name on the course list and upon getting to the class it had a different name and slightly different focus. Additionally, they have an extremely slow timeline to pay refunds for classes that have been dropped (6 weeks), even though they expect payment from the students very quickly during registration (within a week of adding classes--they automatically drop you if you don't pay on this prompt timeline, often regardless of when student aid is scheduled to come in). From an organizational perspective this school strikes me as not particularly great, even if above average overall.

Santa Barbara City college is a great place. I have being here for over 2 years in computer science and I have learnt so much. They are very supportive and always encouraging. Please don't mind reviews of people who have never attended a class here. This is one of the best places you can ever go to school in the United States at community college level.

Fundamental wrongs with the E.C.E. department: I have witnessed observances of wrongs within the early childhood education program at Santa Barbara City College, legitimate concerns regarding staff. I write this in the hope of a serious and rigorous review of the program. Staff's lack of adherence to education codes of ethics and education protocols within the confines of and definition of laws pertaining to the E.C.E. department,S.B.C.C., N.A.E.Y.C.,Orfalea Early Learning Center, and relative organizations and accrediting agencies. Some staff in good faith are trying to perform their job within the E.C.E. program at S.B.C.C, however there are those that do not. Adjunct. LTA. Staff members say the right things at the right times, act accordingly when being observed as they perform their duties and job, however underlying tones of dishonesty and miss-truths are prevalent throughout the E.C.E. department. Staff members will be named in time to the relative authorities due to inappropriate actions. Legitimate concerns will be addressed to the appropriate parties. What should be teaching and providing care for children at Orfalea is not happening. Some Orfalea E.C.E. program employee behaviors do not coincide with proper administration of basic standards. I ask all officials whose job it is to monitor, observe, and have oversight to properly do so. The E.C.E. department is being run too independently and this adds to the wrongs within the program. S.B.C.C. is a good choice for higher education, however the E.C.E. program has a cancer within its staff and managment and it must be fixed. Assuring the public that misappropriations are taking place is due. Unwittingly at a higher level, improper oversight is fostering these wrongs. On a lower level the LTA is incompetent, a review of her work and performance is needed along with staff at Orfalea wittingly committing wrongs. For those that disagree within the department I ask that you sincerely consider doing better with reporting illegal conduct by staff. Adherence to rules and regulations should never be compromised and sadly has. This has not been written frivolously or with malicious intent. This has been written to check those that are performing their job inadequately and with disregard to rules and regulations. Relative governing bodies and organizations must review what's going on within the E.C.E. department. Speaking personally and in writing; many students have voiced similar concerns. Observances of how the E.C.E. department is being run are cause for concern. Not all within the E.C.E department are lacking integrity, but those do not let their voices be heard, coercion is rampant. I hope those employees and oversight personnel reading this will strongly consider and interpret it appropriately to benefit and learn from mistakes. some cases are gross negligence. I strongly believe that some within the program comply with ethical behavior and standards, but again there are many, particularly at the Orfalea lab school that reflect badly in a sad contrast to all that is the culmination of proper education for young learners as well as S.B.C.C. students. Let this be a reminder to the community. It's the well being of children that is most important and concerning. To the whole of our community, this program must be looked at indefinitely.

First of all, the view is amazing. You can literally see the ocean in the campus. The professors are really enthusiastic and professional. Also, the school provides lots of helpful services for students, such as stress relief, job internships and etc. I really recommend taking Summer classes for quick credits and studying. Also, there is a free bike shop in the campus, where SBCC students can fix their bike for free. It's called BiCi Centro. They learn how to fix their bikes.

I applied and got accepted over a month ago but after dozens of calls and emails nobody has been able to help me log into my sbcc pipeline account so I cant go any further in choosing my classes or taking the placement test. I basically just wasted this whole month.

Hands down the best school. I sat in on large Universitys campus's out east and surprisingly those classes don't really compare. The student to teacher ratio gives students more opportunities to connect with teachers that you dont see many other places. The quality of the education is phenomenal. The concepts are taught and brought in from several different angles to give a well-rounded understanding of the material. Professors care about each student and want them to prosper. Professors grow within themselves as they are teaching to give even more for the preparation of the following class. The student body looks like they want to learn and are intrigued in the topics. The student body typically is proud to say they go to SBCC. If I didn't get my money's worth, I dont really know what other community college can do justice.

I learned a lot during the fall semester in '18... Things that were said in my lecture hall of around 100 students.... I learned that my professor lived in a nice big house above the city, with a large mean dog that strangers should fear... and they owned a newish Mercedes. I also learned that my professor became aroused while shooting guns at the range... oh! And that Saudi's are the worst people on the planet. I feel that I have been prepared to move forward with my career goals! Such a motivating institution.
