My daughter has been accepted and considering attending the school. It's very serene & beautiful campus.

The campus is beautiful, but dealing with financial aid and departmental stupidity is horrendous! As a graduate student, in a "pilot program" I was continuously penalized for the changes the department made. Instructors changed, but I had to do the paperwork. Degree requirements changed, so I got kicked out of class I needed and put into one that was redundant of a previous class. Just utter chaos and mismanagement all around.

My cousin got her MBA from Mills College and she was immediately hired as a Manager at Google. Mills College has exceptional, talented faculty, and is known for their rigorous academics.

Mills is a private predominantly women's liberal arts college in East Oakland. Access to the campus is restricted by a security gate, security patrols and perimeter fences. They have a strong reputation for producing school teachers, but not for STEM majors.

Mills College, while beautiful and rich in history, has destroyed its own integrity by employing a plethora of idiots. Not a single person working in the M Center or Admissions is even a little bit helpful, and it will cost you an arm and a leg, and probably a torso, to attempt to attend this school.

I love the professors and the campus, but being a full-time professional and taking night classes has been a disaster with financial aid, bookstore purchases, parking permits, and just about every other school service. This school is not set up to deal with working professionals, despite the quality of instruction within the actual graduate programs. And the cost is really unwarranted for graduate students who spend more time fighting with departments than benefitting from them.

Great school. Its a tight knit community, which makes it so much easier to learn.

It is unfortunate that an institution of once great esteem is now scrounging pennies to keep their antiquated policies afloat. While I learned from many great women like Carrie Maultsby and Sarah Pollock, I also learned that they care more about keeping their benefactors happy than they do about their current students. If you’re hoping to study STEM and be empowered as a female in a male dominated industry, those opportunities are few and far between, as Mills is eliminating critical programs and brilliant staff in favor of niche programs with no future job prospects like “Book Arts.” If you recieve a large financial aid package from them as an incoming freshmen, do not take it. Even if it’s your only option, you’re better off going to community college. They lure you in with big packages and, from my experience, cut your aid despite written agreements about tuition coverage. While I will miss the friends I made, I will not miss this school. This institution is not to be trusted with their false idea of strength and togetherness. A college that cares that much about empowerment and unity would not cut away their students, who they once called part of the “Mills Family” without even a sideways glance. This institution is on its last leg. Attend at your own risk.
