We've got the feddbacks of real people who consume the products of The Grind (Coffee Shop) in the area close to the state of West Virginia.
Right now the firm gets a score of 4.6 out of 5 and this score is based on 154 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is basically the top, and it's founded on a very large number of scores, so we may say that the assessment is very credible. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they are pleased, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write reviews when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...

Love this place! Such a warm cozy feel and the coffee/espresso is terrific. Service is very friendly
I've been here several times, and there always seems to be something wrong. Today I got in just before 8, almost a full hour after they opened, and there was no baked goods. More than 10 minutes later I had to give my order 4 times before the girl understood (how hard is "medium hot tea"?) And I never got my bagel because I had to get to class. I've always been happy enough to come back, but after this and a consistent habit of having issues like this, I won't be.
Love their maple latte. Terrific coffee.
Delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Local with friendly staff!
Best coffee in town
Good service, tasty scones, and good coffee!
Light roast espresso. Silken milk froth.
We stop at The Grind every time we drive through Morgantown. Great coffee.
Best place to get lunch in Morgantown. The Popeye sandwich is my favorite. Prices are cheap for what you get and the staff/owner are always very polite and helpful.
Excellent coffee(best in town!) with some stellar food options as well.
This place was great. I went 2 days in a row. I’m definately going to visit The Grind every time I’m in Morgantown!!!
When I was a student, The Grind was essential. I enjoyed many a breakfast/lunch sandwich there, and many a hot chocolate (not a coffee person). The muffins were always great, too. Wonderful staff and atmosphere, and great location. I miss The Grind a whole bunch, and I hope to make it in next time I'm in Morgantown.
Best coffee shop in town. Clean cut yet relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food, and the best espresso I've had in years. Cost is shockingly low, especially considering the sheer quality of the experience. Outstanding.
Warm, friendly atmosphere
The coffee is awesome. The staff is great. The building is really bad. Cold, drafty, no good place to sit and work. I want it to be so much more then it was. I haven't tried the food, but my colleague had a bagel and said it was very tasty. I will go back, but around here we dont have a ton of options.
Honestly one of the best cafés i have experienced. Great coffee, and cheap, and ideal for studying. Its not open till late unfortunately. But definately a great place
Great coffee
Very cool and hip
Great people!!! Great coffee!!! I started going to college at WVU in the fall and it’s always been welcoming! Just an amazing place :)
Best coffee in town. You owe it to yourself to try any of their Maple drinks, as they're absolutely delicious. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about his product and can give you a lot of hints if you don't know what to try. The sandwiches are fresh and delightful (especially the Bailey Booer :) )!
Local coffee shop with excellent espresso drinks, good drip coffee, and fantastic food.
Milky joe 5 stars, maple latte 5 stars, bacon egg and cheese on keiser roll 5 stars, chocolate chip muffin 5 stars...this was my first order at the Grind and everything was spectacular, Highly recommend it!
Cute little cafe with small selection of premade and MTO foods.
Good coffee and specialty drinks. They also make the best breakfast sandwiches that I've had in the area. Good baked goods as well.
Best coffee in town. Great place for a meeting, love their sandwiches too!
they’re milky joe is my fav and i wanna go back but every time i go in they are kind of condescending and seem annoyed by my presence
Very fast, helpful service. Loved the maple latte.
Sandwiches were average... good but nothing extraordinary, coffee was OK
Best coffee, awesome owners, knowledgeable staff and is a needed establishment in the neighborhood. J Gunnell needs an attitude adjustment and to be sentenced to Dunkin Donuts coffee for the rest of eternity!!!
Good food but it took a little long to prepare. Seems like they were down 1 person in kitchen
Easily the best coffee shop in Morgantown, and one of the best I've been too anywhere. I just wish they were open later and hate more space for some additional (comfy!) seating.
Great coffee. Something for both medium roast lovers and dark roast lovers, well balanced lattes and cappuccinos. Food is convenient. No crazy blended drinks, but good iced coffee.
Best coffee in Morgantown
We always stop here when in Morgantown. We're bound to run into local friends. Delicious drinks and food choices.
Many people swear by it, the only downside is that the place is not very big but that is also part of the charm. The coffee rocks and the staff is super friendly. This is one of the hub of the downtown university area.
Friendly folks that know what they are doing with coffee to say the least. Their breakfast and lunch sandwiches are better than anything I would expect from a coffee place. I absolutely love the Popeye on jalapeno cheddar bagel with a hot milky joe.
Not terribly accessable, but GREAT cup of coffee! No really, the dark roast cup tastes the way great coffee smells! I WILL be back!
It should be called Bear Claw, other than that it's really great and has a solid scone selection
The coffee is awesome. I'm very disappointed because I came here before and they made me a breakfast sandwich with a scrabbled egg (think empty ommlette) and it was really good - I don't eat fried eggs or over easy. The next time I tried to order one with a scrambled egg they just snapped back at me, "we can't do that"; no sorry, no explanation, no offer to try to accommodate me. It was like, "no soup for you!" I mean they prepare it fresh, it shouldn't be that hard to mix up the yolk and whites. Everywhere else I've ever been that makes these from scratch it's happy to scramble it for me.
Nice place to sit down for a mocha latte. The staff could be more cordial an smile more. Other than that good lattes. Nice pick me up. Actually I do like this place. The staff are pretty nice. Everyone has their good an not so good days. Very cozy establishment.
Great Latte
Regularly stopped there while I was in school at WVU. Inarguably my favorite coffee shop ever. It's a special place.
One of the best cortados I've ever had. Very flavorful coffee. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their coffee.
Friendly, fast service, great food, great coffee. Brown Russian is my favorite!
The Grind is one of the best spots in Morgantown to get caffeinated and grab a bite. The Grid takes pride in buying quality ingredients for their food and drinks. Head in early to grab a hot & fresh breakfast sandwich, and for lunch, the Mountaineer is a must!
Best coffee in Morgantown
Absolutely love this place. Couldn’t get through my day without them. Best coffee and staff in town by far
Good breakfast sandwiches and quality coffee. Free WiFi and a decent amount of seating.
best coffee, best sandwiches, great vibe, affordable
Don't expect to find a place to sit, the college crowd tends to linger.
You never know if you're going to receive some sort of odd and rude attitude from the staff here. Definitely a mixed bag, which is unfortunate because I liked their coffee.
Great coffee and great atmosphere. It tends to get cramped inside during peak hours but the line moves quickly.
Everything is okay. The options are limited.
I’ve been coming to this place for about twelve years. At some point the ownership transferred to a guy who seemed a little high strung. I could tell that he and the people who worked there didn’t really like me that much - possibly for political reasons - but I kept going because the coffee and the food was good. A couple of days ago I went in, ordered my usual sandwich and coffee, and sat down. When the sandwich arrived, one of the employees glared at me, threw my sandwich down hard on the table from four feet away, and stomped off. It made a loud noise - loud enough to make all the other customers in the room look up and stare at me. This was both very confusing and very embarrassing. This particular guy had been rude to me in the past but this was well beyond anything I had previously experienced. I went up to the counter to ask if there was some sort of issue. At first he denied it, then started angrily accusing me of writing some sort of note in the “confession box” which they keep in the bathroom. I have no idea what he was talking about, but apparently I was being blamed for something I didn’t do. I tried to explain I didn’t have anything to do with whatever they were talking about. The owner of the place - a very angry guy, as I’ve mentioned before - came up and started yelling at me and threatening to kick me out. I told them I wanted a refund on account of the way I was being treated, and he told me to leave - refusing to give me a refund at the same time despite my repeated insistence. There was a little girl working there, maybe ten years old (OSHA violation?) - she actually started to try to give me a refund, and he stopped her. Instead, he just kept screaming crazy things like “I protect my own!” and "this is my house!" - the guy looked like he wanted to jump across the counter and slug me. He also kept screaming at me to "stop making that face at him" - I can only assume he meant the confused look I get on my face when someone's acting totally insane. He seemed to be upset that I was trying to bring the issue to his attention in front of his customers, but his employee had already made the situation very public by throwing food at me in front of other customers. I didn’t get to eat my sandwich or drink my coffee, nor did my girlfriend. I’m filing a chargeback with my bank, but it’s stunning to me that I have to go through this added hassle to get a refund despite being thrown out of a place before I could touch my food. I’d love to know what this mystery note said or why I was blamed for writing it. I asked several times, but they refused to tell me anything about it, let alone why they thought that I wrote it. So much for “the customer is always right!” - apparently it’s more like “the customer gets trays thrown at him and no one will tell him why.” I strongly believe this whole thing was politically motivated - they’ve seen me in there with a MAGA hat on in the past, and I could tell they didn’t like it. I’m sorry if supporting my president offends you, but I shouldn’t be harassed for that at a place of business. All in all it was a very bizarre, upsetting experience. I don’t recommend going here, and it’s a real shame because I used to love this place. Like I said at the start of this review, I’ve been going here for twelve years (and recently almost every morning!) - I’ve easily put thousands of dollars in coffee and sandwiches through this place. You’d think that would have at least earned me the benefit of the doubt, but apparently not. EDIT: According to my bank it appears that they ended up giving me a refund before I could file the chargeback. I'm nonplussed as to why they told me they wouldn't and then did it anyway, but it seems proper to report this here. I still wouldn't recommend going here at all - since catching them on a bad day means you might get your food thrown at you.
Great staff, delicious coffee. Their brew is a labor of love ❤.
Great food and reasonable prices
Probably the best coffee I had in Morgantown, had the cafe au lait... The staff were friendly as well. Didn't try any of the food myself, but heard the scones were homemade and delicious, too.
Great coffee, great atmosphere, great sandwiches and breakfast.
A local and cozy vibe cafe. Definitely a nice ambiance to do some work or meet friends. Wish they are open longer on weekends.
One of my favorite places for lunch near campus! The coffee is good, but their sandwiches are where they excel.
Nice atmosphere and the staff is really friendly! I ordered an iced maple latte which is considered a “local favorite.” The latte was nothing special, I would suggest the Blue Moose in Morgantown instead.
Hope Believe Love
Great sandwich!
Delicious !
This is what coffee is supposed to be. Knowledgeable staff ,quality product.
The best coffee shop near campus! I can't speak for the espresso drinks, but they use high quality beans from an independent roaster for their drip coffee and it's fantastic. $2.50 for a 16oz! Starbucks is more expensive and lower quality! The atmosphere is also super chill and there's plenty of space to sit. I highly recommend this shop
Love the vibe of this place. Best sandwich in town, the Popeye. Great coffee!
Best coffee shop in the Town. Very lovely people and friendly staff From James - Fresh Mint
the BEST espresso and specialty drinks around
Best location walking to campus
Try the maple coffee options. They are amazing
Nice, small atmosphere in an ever growing area. Got the bacon, egg, cheese on an asiago bagel with a large milky Joe. Price was good, maybe go for a different bagel instead next time due to richness of the asiago. Coffee was good.
A fav place for coffee, cold or hot! Very friendly staff, lovely ambience, close to WVU campus. I'm coming back to try the other options they got ☕️
Nice little cafe. Try the brown russian, I can drink those all day.
Hot & fresh! Delicious bagel, great service!
Excellent coffee. Smart, welcoming service. The barista guessed my particular preference based on my tshirt and general demeanor. Guessed correctly. Very impressed.
I would give 5, but I overheard the employees complaining about me. Not cool
Favorite coffee shop. I always stop by here when I am in Morgantown!
Probably the best coffee and lattes in town. Food is delicious; highly recommend the Seawich sandwich for lunch. Great service. Definitely, definitely try the maple latte.
Great little cafe to have breakfast and a good coffee or espresso
Absolutely excellent. Rich (owner) dials in the grind and espresso every morning. He runs a light and dark roast (lately it's been Olympia). The espresso is smooth and balanced. He and his staff are friendly, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He is happy to talk shop about the coffee. The food is also wonderful. Prices are very reasonable. The shop is cozy and a nice place to grab a drink and a quick bite. Highly recommend if you are in the area. This is some of the best coffee I've come across, anywhere. I visited 5 times in as many days, superb every time.
Great coffee. Amazing staff. The first time I went, they didn't take debit cards so they said I could just pay them back. What other business does that?? None that I know. Of course, I returned later with cash.
As someone with a combined 10 years of coffeeshop experience, I can confidently say that The Grind is second to none in WV. Not only is the espresso amazing (try the maple latte), but they also have a bunch of tasty salads, snacks, and sandwiches. Staff is super fun and the ambience is on point!
I put in on my GPS Dairy Queen and this is where it led us. Wrong directions
Good coffee convenient spot
Great coffee and food
Great coffee here, awesome staff. Overall love this place.
Nice cafe - great lattes
Quintessential local coffee shop - friendly staff, know your name, and know your coffee. A small bit of Seattle, right off of High Street. Can be a bit crowded in the AM, but it's a good thing.
Nice staff and good coffee with sandwiches
Excellent coffee and food in a great atmosphere. Support this local business!!
Nice. Small.
Great stop for my morning coffee.
This place is so cute and cozy. The coffee is amazing and there are many varieties of drinks to choose from. I personally like the Milky Joe and the Maple Latte. Even when it's super busy, they keep the line moving. Favorite place to go for a little afternoon pick me up!
We were out and about looking to get some good coffee in Morgantown, and this place looked promising. We parked around back with no issues since there's no street parking at the entrance. It was busy inside but we were able to grab a tall cafe table. My wife ordered a flat white and I got an americano (pictured). We also ordered sandwiches - a Mountaineer and a Poor Boy. The drinks came out quickly, but the sandwiches took a little since they were so busy at the time. They were worth the wait! We'll be back next time we need our coffee fix and we're in town.
This is one of the best coffee shops in the area. It is locally owned and run. Coffee and food is top notch, and also very reasonable price wise.
