Here you will be able to see the reviews of real people who consumed the services of Lost Dog Coffee Fine Arts Drink Emporium (Coffee Shop) in the area close to the state of West Virginia.
To this day the business gets a rating of 4.6 out of 5 and that score is based on 199 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is practically the highest, and it's founded on a very large number of scores, so we can be pretty sure that the score is quite accurate. If people have bothered to give their feddback when they've done well with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give evaluations when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Coffee Shop is included in the category of Coffee shop.
Great art and place to chill! Excellent coffee and pastries! Wish i lived nearby. The girl working there owns a really hip gift shop nextdoor too! Cant say enough good things about this place.
This place is a hidden gem in West Virginia... good people, good conversation, and good coffee draw an amazing crowd to this area and have completely challenged my preconceived notions of what WV was like. Great decor!
Horrible place to visit. Certainly will not be returning. All the Knick-knacks on the wall and furniture were covered in dust, The couch made plumes of it when you sat on them. The coffee sits in open buckets on the floor not only allowing it to go stale, but also inviting in the dirt and bugs. The menu signs were unreadable and most shockingly, the owner is incredibly rude to customers! I stood in line for 15 minutes and watched him make rude remarks to every customer before me. I don’t know why I even purchased anything. Oh well, we learn from our mistakes.
Delicious hot coffee, eclectic decor, and fast & friendly service made us very happy we stopped in the Lost Dog!
Interesting take on coffee but definitely a good one
It's aight
Probably the grossest place I've ever been inside, be sure to get a booster shot before going in, coffee tasted how the place looks, with the employees and owner to match.
Definitely one of the coolest places to get coffee or just sit and talk
Great coffee, amazing music playing in the background, and friendly owner. We were in Shepherdstown for 4 days and stopped in every morning. Wonderful start to each day!
Love the specialty coffees and teas.
Great atmosphere, delicious coffee and tea
Had a cup of Sumatra, it seemed very weak and bitter, I couldn't drink the entire cup even with cream and sugar. I normally drink Sumatra black from sbux....
Awesome coffee shop!
They can make anything with a large selection of coffee options and types of teas.
REAL coffee. It's been my favorite place for 18 years! The atmosphere is laid back and and only the coolest regulars!
Best coffee shop in town, very helpful staff.
Some of the best espresso I’ve ever had. Wet dog is transcendent. Go here.
This is THE place for quality coffee and tea in Shepherdstown. In fact, I'm so spoiled, I can't drink coffee anywhere else!
The single best coffee shop experience of my life. Incredibly unique ambiance, awesome music, and the most skilled barista around. 10/10
This place is great. They really care about what they’re doing. My girlfriend had the BEST Yerba Mate!
Best coffee and tea shop
Lost Dog takes beverages to a whole new level. DO NOT miss out on this gem.
Best Coffee Ever! Nice folks in an eclectic, artistic, fun and unpretentious atmosphere! I highly recommend visiting for your next pick-me-up!
This is as close to the perfect coffee shop as you'll ever see. Bewildering array of top quality coffee and tea. Knowledgeable and skilled baristas. Awesome, edgy, and RELEVANT decor. Great music. Interesting customers. I could go on . . . The owner can be a little grumpy but just give him a pinch and he'll perk right up.
i live right outside Shep, have for 20 some yrs, I've been to the lost dog a few times and will say it exceeds expectations, greets you with greatness and bids you with coffee lol!! ive never been to a better shop!! thanks Garth, you make Shep what it is!! youre place is a staple in my life!!
Absolutely love this place! Best coffee and tea selections. Worth the drive. And to top it all off its organic.
Always good and fresh coffee, friendly service, and no hard sale.
An interesting little coffee house with a very large selection of organic and hard to find coffee bean origins and roasts. Full service espresso bar with a huge unique espresso drink menu. Very large tea selection with many hard to find tea blends and types including pu-erh and other imported teas. The walls are absolutely covered with tons of interesting and local art. Definitely a must visit when in Shepardstown!
Great community coffee shop. Very artsy, very interesting displays and atmosphere. Not sure I'd wear a maga hat in there, but great coffee, pastries, Italian sodas, etc. Definitely a local landmark at this point, I believe it's been around for about twenty years now.
Funky, fun and the espresso got me jacked up!
Epic my dogs
The whole place is really inappropriate, and the guy who worked there wasn't welcoming. I was too afraid to ask for decaf. The coffee is really good, but that was about the only thing I liked. If you want to see a place that looks like the inside of a junk drawer (including several bras hanging from the ceiling) then go ahead. But I would definitely not recommend it if you've got kids with you.
Best strong coffees in the area and a quick walk from a multitude of different small town shops.
The owner is hard temperd and cures at customers over facebook
Very good coffee, I drove 20 miles to get there in a feeling...Thank you Garth,.
Bomb coffee
Mochaaaaaaa
Great place! Great atmosphere. We always visit when in town.
They had a much larger variety than I expected. The shop is kind of small when compared to nearby shops, but the selection is unparalleled. I got a hot chocolate that was very good. Got a bag of beans for my brother as a gift.
good
Great survice and amazing drinks. Love the atmosphere, music, and art.
Best Coffee Shop Ever, Period
Waited for about 15 minutes for a cup of coffee, then left empty handed when I realized the wait would actually be much much longer. The employees were having a good old time and clearly couldn’t care less that there was a line of customers waiting to place orders. Won’t be coming back anytime soon.
Fantastic shop! Best espresso blend I've had! Yum yum!
Definitely a quirky vibe, but the BEST tea selection, well brewed and crafted everything, with knowledgeable service. Win, win, win.
I just had one of those "change your morning and entire day" kind of experiences here. My latte is delicious, the service exceeded my expectations, and the owner wished me a great day and meant it! I still have the warm fuzzy feeling an hour later.
Great coffee selection that they grind for you. Try the Frankie's Velvet Dream drink ! So good!
Worth a stop. Gitchy little coffee house. Don't be in hurry, its not Starbucks. They on hipster-time :)
Best coffee shop ever
Great selection of coffee and espresso
Had the best customer service I’ve ever had today. The boy who was waiting on me was extremely kind and knowledgeable, even just before closing time! He took great care to give me exactly what I wanted while I didn’t even know what I wanted! Lol! Will be returning soon, the coffee and atmosphere will not disappoint!
Best coffee shop on the planet. I love it here. Do yourself a favor and visit when in Shepherdstown.
Fun and funky coffeehouse right across from Shepherd U -- check out the wall of tea in the virtual tour! Try a Vanilla Wet Dog or a Vicious Vietnamese Vibrator, some pu-erh tea, or just get a back-to-basics Fat Bastard-sized (24-oz.) coffee.
Lost Dog is a quiet and eclectic spot for coffee and tea. This is a must visit for any traveler, tourist, sightseer, pilgrim, scout or visitor. It's worth noting there is a large white dog who frequently hangs out in the back lounge. He is friendly but doesn't enjoy botherings of unfamiliar pats on the head. Best coffee in Shepherd's town!
Dirty and expensive. 19.50 lb is the least expensive coffee. Send them cleaning supplies.
Nice
Great vibes!
Good coffee. Nice staff
Vast collection of the major tea styles, from fruits to pu-erhs - wildly creative coffee drinks too!
Fun and funky!
Great tea selection. Truly a fixture of Shepherdstown.
Hot black caffeine as nature intended.
The music was choice. The dude was cool. The art was fine. The coffee was on point. The cookies were tasty.
Best coffee / tea in the DC area, I've been coming here for years and they always have something new and interesting.
It’s a great little coffee shop, and great supply of coffee and tea. You definitely need to check this place out.
A blast from the past. This is a great coffee and dessert place in the center of the college town Shepherdstown West Virginia. Very small, but according to the behind the counter server, they have been there for 20 years.
No one makes coffee as good as Garth. Period. I love Lost Dog. Love their commitment to quality. Love their unwavering dedication to self expression and their dedication to the community. Love it all.
I do not drink coffee myself but I am a big fan of this place. This place is totally punk rock, just about the opposite of a Starbucks. Each drink is made with care and they are so knowledgeable about everything that they make. They have baked goods for sale as well. The place is comfortable and kind and there is so much attention to detail. Part of those details is the awesome decor made up of album covers, screen printing, and other great bits of art.
The atmosphere may not be for everyone and the mood of the staff can sometimes be a crapshoot, but this is the best god damn coffee place in at least a fifty mile radius.
My #1 favorite coffee place!
I've been going to this coffee shop for over 15 years, not because of the eccentric atmosphere, or the art displays, or for the pretty good espresso drinks, or the great brewed coffee, but because no other coffee shop can compete with the Lost Dog in Shepherdstown! Every other place that's tried has shut down within a few months. When I was still at Shepherd University, it was a nice place to escape campus and meet people or study as well. I definitely have some great memories of this place! Xo
They always know my order and top off cups. Not right, they remake it for you. Real bistro style in small town.
I was spoiled going to school right next to this place. I never fully appreciated it till I moved away. Took me over a year to find something even half as good. They know beverages. The insane decor is complemented by a rotation of different artist works. The coffee is art the art is art and lost importantly... SOMETIMES THEY HAVE STICKERS!!!! Also don’t expect your arse kissed.
Very unique place. Definitely a must see if you need coffee and are in the area
Our drinks were fabulous. It’s an interesting. Quirky space. Standing in line is a tight squeeze. Very cute town.
Best coffee ever
Love this place, Awesome people, great coffee, fantastic service. Eclectic vibe, lots of artwork and oddities around. Music is always different. Good experience. Check out the clock on the wall stuck at 4:20, that tells you everything you need to know.
Awesome atmosphere and amazing coffee! This is truly one of the best coffee houses I have ever been to! The gorilla mocha is astounding!
I love talking owner he nice and feel welcome best coffee shop i ever bin he let me cutumize my drink i will recommend this any one
I love going to Lost Dog Coffee. Great art, eclectic style. The smell of tea and coffee, smells like... victory... They also have the best iced green tea in the world!
Lost dog café is fantastic!!! Best coffee around in my opinion! Love their wet dog drink! I always get it whenever I'm in town!
Best chai latte you can find
I visited lost dog coffee over the weekend. Horrible mistake. I asked for a macchiato, a simple beverage consisting of just coffee and steamed milk in a small cup. The barista rolled her eyes and sighed, without saying a word, took a large cup out and started to dump syrup into it. I thought she must have been making someone else’s drink first; I didn’t mind waiting despite her rude demeanor. As she finished making a giant latte, she put it on the counter and said “5 bucks.” without even making eye contact. I said “what is this?” She replied “it’s your STARBUCKS macchiato.” There was no reason for her to assume I wanted anything but a real macchiato, she was just making a rude assumption that I didn’t know what I was asking for. I was so angry, I had never been disrespected like this by a customer service rep. I was close to giving them a piece of my mind, The only saving grace was the little green haired girl who took over making my drink after I said it’s not what I wanted. She made light, fun conversation which calmed me down. Otherwise, the coffee is clearly stale. The beans are kept in buckets (BPA free? God I hope so) that sit on the FLOOR that are opened all day every day to ensure they aren’t in the slightest bit fresh. Not to mention the shops floors are covered in loose-dirt and dust which is of course settling into the coffee that we buy. Everything behind the counter looked filthy, the milk pitchers were crusted with old milk and you could clearly see mystery goo all over the back counter. I’m surprised they let this place stay open. Needless to say, I’ll never be back. I can excuse a dirty cafe if it has decent service or coffee. This had none of the above. I’m not normally the guy to leave a bad review, but this service is unforgivable.
Best Coffee shop ever!
Chinese Green Tea was very good. You kinda gotta know what you like before you order though. It's a bit overwhelming when you first enter the door - and make sure you close it behind you. Self-serve coffee was just ok however.
Quality Stuff Man
Always a great cup of coffee, latte or perfectly steeped tea. And with new local art on the walls every month and eclectic and fun decor, it makes getting coffee a wonderful experience. Over the years, as a visitor and now a local, I always feel welcome in this neighborhood coffee shop.
I asked for a medium roast that was high in caffeine and the young man there suggested a blend named "Bill and Ted" - an harmonious blend of light medium and dark roast. It was lovely and the caffeine kick is significant. Yay! Lost Dog!
Awesome coffee
This Chai is AWESOME! The artworks here are really cool too!!!
Best place in all of Shepherdstown!
A very good place to go and enjoy the company of others.
Been to LDC from out of town a few times now, love the place, coffee drinks, lemonade, would have given 5 stars but the plain coffee out of the Aeropots (or however it is you spell it) wasn't too fresh. No big whup. Hey, Garth, would you do a pour-over or Aeropress next time we're there?
Great friendly service
Coffee was good but the owner is a crusty man with a mean disposition. I saw a post where he cursed out a patron on Facebook. Total lack of class
Love the decor but the latte I ordered with soy milk tasted old and bitter. I have always had a good experience here in the past ... so perhaps a new employee?
I am a coffee addict, like so many that visit Lost Dog. I am always trying new roasts and brands when I am out and about in different places, but everything I try pales in comparison. Their Wet Dog's are DELICIOUS but its their SEXPRESSOOHHHH that is THE BOMB!!! BEST espresso blend EVER. I drink it 1-3 times daily ;)
Great coffee experience for coffee lovers in an atmosphere reminiscent of Woodstock. The locals are friendly and welcoming.
Large selection of coffee and tea's
I always love to go here!! The staff is friendly and always go out of their way to make sure you get what you want. They make great drinks.
Great funky neighborhood independent coffee shop. Even the lemon aid is made to order.
Love, love, love Lost Dog Coffee - cannot say enough good things, everything they make is terrific, it's always fun to stop by and talk to people. If you do not know what you are in the mood for you can give them a direction and they will recommend something for you, they have never steered me wrong! It's the type of coffee I take a drink of and feel like everything is right with the world!
Because Good coffee, amazing atmosphere, fantastic Baristas, and well sensory overload.... Need I say more?
A fun and funky spot that serves the best coffee and tea in town.
They make good cappachino.
Amazing drinks and atmosphere!
excellent espresso - the best I've had in the whole mid-atlantic region, at least at this low price anyway.
First time there. Great drinks with lots of character! They took there time making my order to make sure they were superior quality. The nice shaded seating area outside allowed me to enjoy my drink and relax. I will definitely be back!
Amazing place to unwind or perk up, courtesy of yoir drink of choice and the staff who are fantastic at what they do and embody the ideal of "service with a smile" and are happy to indulge customers in conversation as they go about their masterful work. A fantastic selection of coffee only makes this place that much more attractive to everyone from the your average Joe looking for a cuppa to your coffee connoisseur seeking that perfect roast, grind and brew not to mention the admirable selection of lovely aged teas for sale. Definitely a place I'll be frequenting.
Amazing coffee and snacks. A must try if you are in the area or passing by!!!
Teas and coffee very nice
Very unique coffee shop with a great flavor profile. They have a huge selection of roasts, blends, and vintages (yes, their tea has vintages dating back to the 60's!).
Great double espresso and a wonderful assortment of freshly roasted beans. Friendly and knowledgeable barista/owner. The place for java and a "slowdown-and-sit-a-spell."
Best in town
Espresso smoothie was phenomenal!
Delicious coffee and love the vibe of the place your never disappointed
Great coffee!
Surprising amount of quality tea, picked up a brick of pureh while I was there, also the quality of the beans look fantastic, I'll need to go back and try some on my next visit!
Wonderful eclectic coffee shop! Great place to relax with really good cup of coffee and a treat. Wide variety of coffee and teas. I hope to return again soon!
First rate cappuccino from great espresso beans. They also have a wide selection of cookies, teas, and a range of non-milk options for your coffee/tea that I haven't tried but look great. Wonderful friendly service in a space with an eclectic vibe. Great art on the walls (and some skin). Best coffee in Shepherdstown.
Aging hippies will feel at home here. There is lots of quirky artwork reminiscent of the early 1970s, although the music is more what the young baristas feel like playing. My cappuccino was perfect. No, there doesn't seem to be any free Wi-Fi, but they didn't have that in 1974, either.
Great place... very chic!
In my humble opinion, Lost Dog Coffee MAKES Shepardstown
