This Coffee Shop is classified in the category of Coffee shop.
The have the basics in a unique setting and staff is nice. The Bannana nut bread is yummy! Try the lentil saugage soup when they have it in the fall/winter it is excellent!
Black Sheep by far has the coolest atmosphere of any coffee shop I’ve been to!
Don’t bother coming here. The staff had my friend waiting on her drink, a simple to-go cup of coffee, for just about half an hour. And then proceeded to say that they forgot about the drink. There was no apology and no remorse about it. Along that line, my own drink was sitting out and never got called, which resulted in a cold cup of coffee. The portion sizes for the food and what you pay is ridiculous. I can easily spend $7 at Panera and get more food. This experience was awful and disrespectful. Don’t bother waiting your money and time here.
Good coffee, happy and helpful staff, always a joy to stop here.
Excellent stop for coffee, tea, and light foods.
Nice little coffee shop tucked into a unique shopping center. Cold brew was great!
Black Sheep used to be one of our favorite spots for great coffee. Unfortunately, the service and personability of the staff has gotten to a point where it is uncomfortable to place + recieve an order. The small coffee shop charm and approachability seems to have fallen to the wayside with the renovation.
The study pods are a great bonus. Cozy chairs to read in. Great coffee.
Cute little coffee shop. The baked goods were good, but choices were minimal. Coffee was OK. Better than Starbucks for sure. Worth the visit.
The staff were super friendly and the drinks are good. We had chocolate croissant and hot chocolate with milk alternative. Only reason for 4 stars is there is not a lot of room to sit down and only one bathroom. There is a cool retro arcade machine as well!
Great food and desserts.
Solid Experience.
Real homemade pastries. Very very good coffee. I go here several times a week. Very rarely impressed with the service. Slow, require reminders to give you everything you ordered, staff find chatting with coworkers more important than making to go coffee for customers who are obviously dressed to go to work and don't have time to wait 20 minutes.
Warm & friendly environment. Delicious coffee!
Nice atmosphere to study, work, or chat with a friend. I had a latte which was great, and a lemon poppy seed scone that was good but a little dry.
I adore this coffee shop. Amazing coffee and great atmosphere. Healthy snacks and drinks too.
This is definitely one of the best breakfast spots in Harrisonburg. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but everything I've ever eaten here is OUTSTANDING - the best savory pies and quiche I've had without question. The staff is always very friendly.
Adorable coffee shop. I wanted to love it, but I've never received worse service at a coffee shop. When asked which drip coffee was the darker of the two roasts, the cashier said "I don't know anything about coffee" which is the absolute worst thing you could say as a coffee shop employee. The line was long and seemed like it may have been busier than they were used to, so i would definitely check it out again...hopefully employees will be more knowledgeable or resourceful!
Small coffee shop at its best! Pleasant place to work, read or talk to a friend.
Good little coffee shop
Excellent coffee as always, been some time since I've stopped in and glad to find the coffee and employees still the best in town.
Great lattes. Friendly staff.
Great coffee and pastries. A little overpriced
Pretty good
It was like a scavenger hunt. Glad I found it.
Great coffee and baked goods
Awesome coffee, very friendly service, and vegan-inclusive (multiple plant milks to choose from and vegan food options like energy bites, vegan banana muffins, fresh fruit, Lara bars, and Cliff bars). The place also has a super cool aesthetic - very chill coffee shop vibes with ample seating and table space to do homework or hangout with a group of friends.
Nice coffee shop
Best kept secret in Harrisonburg, great coffee, lots of seating options and all the supplies to make a good cup of joe!
Rustic and homey
Great coffee and service!
Great visit. Good coffee and had a great time with a new friend! Thanks Black Sheep Coffee!
Good coffee and bisquits.
Best chai ever! Great atmosphere!
Great drinks and baked goods!
Truly hidden gem.
Quaint atmosphere and the best drip coffee in town.
Best coffee shop in Harrisonburg...love the new addition
Nice spot.
Offering ice cream and coffee is an interesting combination. Unfortunately, coffee was so bad I could not go beyond the first sip.
Great coffeeshop in downtown Hburg! I stopped in here one morning while venturing back to JMU as an alumnus, and man do I wish Black Sheep had been around when I was a student. As others have said, it provides a quiet yet energetic space to read/study/relax, with plenty of seating and (okay) WiFi. Prices are reasonable, and the breakfast wrap I ordered was excellent. I'll definitely go out of my way to drop in the next time I'm in town.
Best coffee shop in Harrisonburg. If you are passing by or if you are a local it is a staple to the Harrisonburg community that you must visit. The staff is extremely friendly and it is locally owned! It is my favorite spot in Harrisonburg for studying, reading, or catching up with a friend.
It got an iced mocha. It was very good. The atmosphere is great! The staff helped me decide. This is an excellent low key place.
Latte is rich and smooth, no need to add sugar!
Great mint tea and relaxed environment.
Great coffee, great atmosphere. Pretty good spot to get some work done too.
Great iced chai................................................... ................................................................................. ................................................................................
Best coffee in the 'Burg.
Espresso is great and lots of pour over choices!
Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. They have pour overs for those that love quality black coffee. I loved the cute latte art on my pecan latte. They have a number of other flavors so you should definitely be able to find a latte or cappuccino to your liking.
The best
The best place in Harrisonburg to get coffee
Great place to meet up with some friends!!
One of the best!
10/10 would NOT recommend! The staff that was at this establishment on 12/22/17 at 1pm was so rude and snobby and lacked basic customer service skills it made me feel very uncomfortable and feel out of place. As my friend wrote in the review they forgot about my Chai Tea. We both waited 30 minutes for a simple panini and salad. I ordered the chicken bacon avocado panini with the side salad. The chicken and bacon were so dry that the bacon might as well have been jerky. When I told them that I never got my chai tea they basically said "oh" and made it. They never apologized for not forgetting about it. The salad looks the exact same as the mixed greens I get from Martin's. I paid $10 for my meal and I could have gone to Chipotle or Greenberry's or Panera for the same price, better food and better service. Also my friend's latte was never announced so she didn't know when her coffee came out until we just saw it sitting on the counter from our seats which resulted in her drinking cold coffee. When she asked about how to order a bigger cup instead of a small cup later on the worker she was talking to was completely rude and disrespectful when answering her. This was my first time coming here and I would never go again. They put shame to calling themselves a local business.
The best coffee i had in a while
Good coffee, tasty pastries, cool and welcoming ambience.
Excellent coffee and breakfast! I especially love the lattes, they're flavorful, but not too sweet. Any flavor of quiche is always a good choice.
Awesome coffee shop. Don't waste your time at the others in downtown HBurg
Fresh baked goods every day!
What a nice gem of a coffee shop!
Great atmosphere. Quality of coffee and service is hit-and-miss. Sometimes it seems like inexperienced people make the drinks and the drinks have a burned taste. It does seem that the quality is improving slightly over time. But the atmosphere is dynamite. Lots of great spaces.
Really nice, hip coffee shop in downtown Harrisonburg. Friendly service, lots of work or study space. Next to Pale Fire Brewery and Rocktown Kitchen.
Great atmosphere and baked goods but sometimes the lattes are inconsistent and lack a punch.
Good selection
Fantastic coffee and coffee drinks in a quietly energetic atmosphere. Great for reading, working, talking...
It''s a little overpriced for what it is, but I really love the atmosphere that it sat into. The building that it's a part of seems like a really neat historic place, and I wish I would have had more time to actually check it out. Unfortunately, I was just dipping in and dipping out with my laptop before heading out of town. If coffee shop might be a little bit too bougie for a lot of people, but it has a lot of room, and if you go at the right time of day I'm sure it's perfectly fine to plug in and get some work done.
WiFi is not satisfied. Most all websites are blocked other than Youtube and Google.
Best coffee in town. People, coffee and food all top notch. Good place to hang or laptop. At the Icehouse.
Quaint coffee shop in an old industrial building. The coffee and food were quite good, and the staff were friendly.
Amazing coffee shop.
Nice spot downtown to hang out and work. Quiet. Food is ok. Same problems as always downtown...no parking. But if you get a spot....... visit
Unusual and funky space in a reclaimed building. A little hard to find at first, it fronts onto kind of a loading area, but also to an arcade from the parking lot. This is a nice, quiet spot to do some reading or some work with comfy chairs in seating areas, big tables, and desks in cubbies. It is not the most informally social of spaces, it is definitely set up for working. Coffee and baked goods are great, so overall this is a great, if slightly hidden place to pass the time working hard or hardly working!
The space is very small, but I hear they are expanding soon, so I look forward to that.
Could not find it. Once I did Amazing!
Great coffee. Good prices. Perfect atmosphere. Highly recommend
My favorite place to study, hands down. I love the high seats and long bar top for working and the pastries are heaven ♡
A great place to hold a meeting, sit and think, or just relax.
Excellent Americana today--fresh, flavorful, robust espresso
I really enjoyed this place, I love the atmosphere here and everything about this place was on point.
The coffee is as strong as its atmosphere, the people are as kind as the smiling faces behind the counter, and the location encompasses the heart of Harrisonburg’s heritage. I recommend this quaint little spot to anyone who seeks a great cup of coffee and a good conversation!
Amazing lattes...
Nice coffe
Favorite coffee shop in Harrisonburg!
What an awesome place! Best atmosphere in old ice house, great coffee and baked goods (fresh dAily), and very personable staff! We wi be back!
Hot spot to be with plenty of good food coming through the door. Coffee is good too!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I got the macchiato and it was very good. I will definitely go back to try the pour over coffee. I love the fact that if you get a pour over, you can pick the bean. They had about 10 options to pick from.
Best local coffee in Harrisonburg
Amazing food and good lattes
Love the chai. Wish they had coconut milk or hemp milk. Would also love to see gluten free pastries or gluten free options in general. Nice place to sip coffee, read a book or meet a friend. Not necessarily the best spot for working.
Great soups, biscuits, and I love the Multicade machine (classic arcade games like Galaga, Frogger, etc.). For those who can't find it, it's in the back of the ICE house (behind Pale Fire).
This place has the best chai latte in town and definitely has the most and most varied seating options of all of Harrisonburg's coffee shops. I love the little study nooks they put in during the expansion. I wish the menu was still up on display because it's on clipboards up at the counter and I feel bad if I need extra time to look it over if there are people behind me. My favorite Harrisonburg coffee shop!
Nice cozy place!
Nice, upscale and popular without being pretentious, overpriced, or crowded. Staff is very accommodating of special requests.
Great pour over options.
Best coffee shop in Harrisonburg. Fabulous atmosphere.
Excellent Coffee - try the cold brew
love everything about this place, but I wish the WiFi worked :(
3 stars for delicious coffee - I especially enjoy the variety of options for pour overs. Unfortunately, the Wifi is basically non-existent. Every time I've gone in to do work it hasn't worked, despite being "connected." It's been months since I first had an issue and it still hasn't been fixed. The employees response is "Yeah, other customers have been having issues as well. Try restarting your computer." Which is obviously unhelpful. Wish they would fix this long-term!
Dig the scene. I got black coffee so I can't comment on how good their flavored coffee is.
Coffee is ok, but cools off too quickly in the mugs. Also, refills are a dollar, which is a little annoying. Atmosphere is cozy.
Cool place to have a cup of tea or coffee. Plenty of places to charge electronic devices. Really good sandwiches!
Cool place to work or chill! (I'm just passing through, but I will remember this place.) Not cramped, plenty of room to spread out and relax, whether you are by yourself or with others.
Great cold brew. Cool place too.
Just had the BEST COFFEE in 4 years!!! The staff was AMAZING. WAY TO GO BLACK SHEEP!
Service is a but slow, but the overall atmosphere is fantastic! It's a beautifully designed, industrial space with plenty of seating. There are also individual study rooms that offer a bit more privacy.
Great spot. The only thing preventing 5 stars is that there is something up with their Wi-Fi and a lot of sites are blocked. I've love to do some work here but I cannot access VPN or my company email from their network :(
The four stars is for the coffee, which was fantastic! It lost one for the food, which took forever and was incorrect, but not bad.
Good coffee, nice vibes, on the industrial/hipster end
Great hold in the wall place with great coffee and food!
Black Sheep is and has continued to be one of our favorite coffee shops downtown because of location and atmosphere. The coffee is consistently good and breakfast sandwiches are delicious! After the renovation, however, the quality of service has declined a bit. Wifi doesn't work for most websites on my computer, so I no longer go to Black Sheep to work. On many occasions (approximately 1 out of every 2 times I go or meet someone there) the staff don't call out drink or food orders or forget to make a drink. Coffee gets cold quickly because of the style of cup that is used (wide surface area), the creamer cup is usually empty, and most staff/baristas are not friendly or welcoming, but act a bit put off by customers.
My wife and I have coffee at here several mornings each week as part of our morning walk regime. We enjoy the atmosphere and the coffee.
I had an iced Chai latte and it was very good. Great service!
Great coffee, nice staff and great place to sit and enjoy that wonderful cup
Cool vibe. Good coffee.
Great coffee and excellent vibe, but the Internet only allows access to Google, so it can be a frustrating spot to work if you need to do any kind of research.
Met my amazing girlfriend in this very place about a year and a half ago. Great environment and the goat cheese biscuit is to die for. And I don't even like goat cheese.
Great coffee and nice tea selection
Great space. Good coffee. The barista named Alex was terrific !
Delicious coffee!
Gotten better after my first visit. Terrible first visit, but since I've returned things are alot better and much more presentable. Must've gone on an off-day or something.
Great coffee.
Generally, great. Ambience, the coffee, and the in-house baked goods are great. Staff is very pleasant. And the music (important to me) playing throughout, is generally setting a mood that you won't find in other Harrisonburg cafes. Relaxed, but vibrant, hip, and jazzy.
Well worth the hunt! Delicious coffee, great pastries and friendly staff.
I had the nicest Veggie Quesadilla, not smothered in cheese but with a lovely diverse veggie selection including eggplant, but didn’t snap a photo. These hazelnut enticements are next on my list, so intriguing! I hope they have them again!
The expansion is great! Awesome tea selection.
Love the coffee and the expansion is amazing!
Nice variety of coffee plenty of comfy seating and areas to surf or do some work. Outdoor tables in a quaint downtown area with other little shops around.
Great ambience and great coffee, even if you don't want to pay for the pour overs. The pastries are fresh and delicious.
This is such a cute hole in the wall coffee shop! It's pretty well known and popular so it tends to be busy around normal hours. They can be a bit pricy but their hot chocolate is delicious! Would definelty recommend this place. They have various types of seating. This would be a great workplace if you don't mind a little noise.
WiFi doesn’t work, straight up. Staff unhelpful. Other reviews mention this, wish I had read those prior to coming. Cool place in a cool building but this is a no go.
Cute little hometown feel coffee shop
(Translated by Google) Very good coffee and good atmosphere (Original) Muy rico café y buen ambiente
I got a bacon egg and cheese biscuit that was very good. The bacon was thick and crispy and the biscuit was very good as well. Very reasonably priced. The drip coffee was okay but not amazing.
I go out of my way to stop by this coffee shop when driving down I-81. Definitely worth the detour for some good coffee.
Black Sheep Coffee is the best tasting coffee in downtown Harrisonburg - I come here a few times per week as I work right next door! There is a sign that says quality over quantity or something -- I like my coffee to be larger than 12 oz so I wish we could do bigger sizes; however I will still come and pay $4 for a 12 oz latte than go to DD and pay $3 for a 24 oz. -- on most days ;)
Great atmosphere. Good coffee
Good coffee, friendly service, but understaffed and slow.
Super cozy!
Yuck dirty
Very good coffee, but you can't find the lace too easy. College kids and hipsters frequent the place so it only gets 4 stars.
Beautiful venue with unique coffee
The food was good however the barista switched our drinks and they were out of nice plates and mugs. Loves the chai tea!
