This is a cozy spot with tasty food including a dope veggie hash dish for you non-meat eaters. Also, check it out for the biscuits and enjoy the character while you’re there!

Jeremiah Wilhelm

The Wandering Goose is a quality, if not painfully cozy brunch spot. The biscuits and gravy is my personal go to alongside their fresh juices and massive layer cakes. The line down the center of this place can get a little oppressive and not everyone shares the space well, but the food, drinks, and desserts are worth the wait and the social ineptitude. The Grits and Grillads are almost always sold out, so get there early if you'd like some dope, high quality grits. The biscuits and gravy also comes in a meat or mushroom version for those looking for a more vegetable-forward gravy option. Good luck and try to be conscientious about sharing space at tables.

Definitely come here. I went here for cake, breakfast and fried chicken Friday dinner. 5 stars because I like the location, the atmosphere and the breakfast. I think the fried chicken dinner could use some work. Cake - Malted chocolate cake was incredible. The cake had sort of a cornbread/cornmeal texture. It was different in a good way. The whole thing is super rich. Approach with a beverage. Breakfast - biscuits and gravy with poached eggs. The sausage gravy is amazing and has a little bit of a kick. The eggs were a welcomed addition. Biscuit was huge. 10/10 from me. Dinner - The white meat was super dry. The breading was great. The mashed potatoes were excellent. The biscuits were tough on the outside, but soft on the inside. Mac and cheese was okay, not much flavor. Just wish the chicken was juicy.

Absolutely disgusting. This place was CRAWLING with cockroaches in broad daylight. And you know that means there must be a lot. Told the lady at the bar and she said they were wel aware of the situation and that the owner refuses to deal with the situation. The food is super expensive, so it’s a slap in the face that they have the nerve to charge so much money when it’s crawling with bugs. The lady was kind enough to refund my party our money, and thankfully we caught the issue before we were served any food.

Valerie Quince

Upset for having to pay 18% minimum gratuity for snooty service, cold biscuits and gravy, dirty sticky tables, and then we had to bus our own tables. Over-priced fast food experience. Food was "okay."

Tawnya Scott

Got the sawmill (fried chicken, biscuit and gravy). Wish I would have known the gravy was going to be tangy. It completely ruined the dish. The fried chicken was subpar. It’s a cute place but you’re sure packed in tight. Was bummed overall as I was really looking for a good fried chicken spot

Okay, so I wasn't expecting much as I went on a day where they're having their oven serviced, meaning I couldn't get the biscuits and gravy I was having! But that's okay! I was heading to Victrola today, but as I saw their espresso machine while ordering a raspberry jam buttery biscuit, I decided: why not have both items in one location? If you look at the latte, it was half gone before I took a picture because I didn't expect it to be so good! They use Caffé Vita beans, and I was a bit concerned because they were so stacked on beans which usually means old beans and lower quality. This was not the case! I've made a few dozen lattes myself and I know one thing about it: a bad barista can make good beans into bad coffee, and a good barista can make a good coffee from bad beans if they know what they're doing. Here, the beans are good, and the barista is great (so do the math lol)! Their decor fits the locale, and interestingly, one wall has windows to another shop. I'm not in this area often so I never knew, but for you locals that know... well, cool beans (I guess). I'll be coming back with my SO to get my biscuits and gravy fix this weekend!

Rejina Chu

Their foods are always so great. Just REALLY hard to wait in line in tiny space while waitresses delivering foods, seated customers leaving, and..its just need more spaces. You gotta talk loud so you can really participate to the convo bc someone will sit nxt to you like...jst six inches away.

Roger Andersen

Fantastic food. Small place. Jammed on weekends.

T.D. Womack

Stopped by for a quick early brunch and was very impressed with the fried chicken, biscuit and gravy with poached egg! The gravy has just the right amount of spice and sausage as well as perfect consistency. Everything blended together well and was so tasty. Very nice little space

Zella H

This was a fun place to meet a friend for brunch - the menu is pretty playful and less heavy than "Southern food" makes it sound. There's not a ton of seating, so I am not sure I'd come here with more than 4 people since I imagine finding seating would be really difficult and I don't think that they take reservations. I'd come here again, although probably during the warmer parts of the year due to the store layout.

Adrian Crovetto

They had cockroaches. Apparently staff is aware and has complained to management, but management won’t do anything about it “until more people complain on yelp”. Disgusting.

Luyao Wang

Best biscuit in town? Better than June Baby? Lots of southern cakes. Southern hearty collards. BEST Southern style fried chicken? Much much better than Sisters and Brothers in Georgetown?

James Knicely

Excellent breakfast spot. A must try!

Pedro Cori

Very good biscuit & gravy. Quite tight on weekend brunch hours since it's very small and pretty popular, but quick turnaround and service make it so you probably have a table by the time you order at the counter.

Nyoman Nikki Wirawan Sugitha

the chicken was delicious the biscuits were also tasty

Moazمعاذ Gutubقطب

I forget dieting when I go to this place

Rema

Amazing food! The grits & grillades was very tasty. The cookies are delicious! Wanted to take 1 of everything home! The restaurant is small & it gets crowded quickly. You can find a seat once your order is placed. I was worried that once my party & I ordered we’d have trouble finding a seat, but there was one available right after we placed our orders. You bus your own table which I’m ok with; it gave me the opportunity to thank the chefs! Will return on a Friday for fried chicken Friday’s!! I’m gonna also need to try the mac & cheese pie!!!

Andrew Prentice

Good food. Bus your own table please, not their job. Don’t come here for coffee, come here for the southern comfort food. Recommend the sawmill. You won’t be disappointed. Lower star rating for the cleanliness, place needs to be thoroughly cleaned.

d coul

Kind of expensive ($12) for a small salad :(

Les Bowman

Great lamb and couscous!!! Fantastic dish! Nice atmosphere, great customer service & fantastic vibes

Dan Metcalfe

One of the best Seattle toast I ever had. The american toast flight was delicious. Everything we ordered was amazing. Especially their homemade hot sauce made the meal much better. I couldn't help dipping my sweet potato fries in it. The service is so good and the menu is always changing genuinely good place.

Gaurav Komera

Brilliant fried chicken and biscuits. Didn't like the sawmill gravy though. Double chocolate cake was decent.

Thabata Regiani

Had the loveliest brunch here! Beautiful location, very small, but as long as people don't keep saving tables, it seems that the system works just fine. I came specifically for their biscuits with mushroom gravy and I wasn't disappointed. The gravy was delicious with a very unique, tangy flavor. The biscuit sandwiches are big, they serve really nice portions. Coffee was good too. Will definitely come back!

Calvin Thomas

OK, I am from the South, just look at all the restaurants I have reviewed in Florida and Georgia. When my daughter suggested the chicken and biscuits up here in Seattle, I had very low expectations. Well, I was just blown away by how good the food was in here. Probably the very best biscuit I have ever had. What a surprise. Do not miss out.

Nafnlaus Einstaklingur

The food was definitely good! No complaints on that front! …just… The lineup was long. Like, half an hour, almost. Not sure the food was good enough for *that*. Loved the ambience and aesthetic in there, though!

Scot McGavin

Delicious food and great coffee.

Naresh Rajan

Got the sawmill. Biscuit could’ve been a bit more crisp on the outside, but great flavor. Casual ambiance. Excellent cappuccino, very flavorful and well executed

Ephraim Almaraz

Probably good food, just too many cockroaches running around in the pastry case. I informed the cashier I didn't want my food after all and they had a bit of a roach problem, to which she replied,"Yeah" then turned around and didn't offer my money back.

Tommy K.

Food is good. You need to order at the counter and the check out system incites you to give at least 18% tip, and then you need to bring your own drinks and coffees and then you need to bus your own table. So for what service exactly am I paying tips? The food is good but the experience feels a little uncomfortable

Krystin Martin

The. Best. Restaurant. For. Breakfast/Brunch!! Oh man am I glad I wandered into this place. So many creative options and every single dish was on point. Every dish includes a biscuit. I had the special of the day which obviously isn't on the menu but had mashed potatoes, arugula, an over-easy egg, a little gravy and obviously a biscuit. It was phenomenal. My husband and his friend had a dish with collard greens and both said it was the best collard greens they've ever had and that their fried chicken was amazing too. We all ordered something different in our party of 4 and were all drooling before, during and after our meal. Seriously that good! The wait was out the door but don't be intimidated, it's definitely worth the wait... we waited maybe 20 minutes. You order when you get to the cashier and then they bring your food to your table. When finished, you bring your cleanly licked plates upfront so someone else who is waiting can almost immediately sit down. Just go! Go wander into this place, you'll love it too!

David Moffett

If you love a taste of the south then give it try. The south is closer than you think. Missing two things. Sweet tea and lemons for that tea. Also some NC BBQ would seal the deal!

Brad Andersen

Loved the Aunt Annie's chicken and biscuit with Cole slaw. Difficult to find a seat though.

Lanya Neeley

Thanks for letting me use the bathroom!

Nancy Davis

The food was amazing. I love breakfast food, and this is immediately one of the best in Seattle. Friendly staff.

Melanie Vartanian

Biscuits are moist and quite delicious. My partner got the sawmill, and it was savory and satisfying, with a generous portion of friend chicken. I had the Blondie, which had some kind of sweet butter sauce which I hadn't been expecting based on the description. It grew on me over the course of the meal, since the ham was quite salty. Unfortunately, the space is a nightmare. The tables are cramped, and the line to the counter dominates the space. It get very crowded and claustrophobic very quickly. Behind the counter looked like a mad house. Not sure I could call it a "well oiled machine". The lady taking the order kept coming and going, even with a long line. They really need a host/was managing the space and controlling how many people where inside. I was in around 1pm on a Sunday, and it was definitely over fire code. If you want to try wandering goose, get there when the doors open, otherwise, im not sure it's worth the stress of the environment.

Geoffrey Swenson

Charming small cafe for breakfast and really excellent coffee. It is moderately priced; you order at the counter.

Deven Bryant

The food is on point. I recommend the sawmill. Went there for a bday brunch and will definitely return soon. Put on your patience cap if you go though. The place is popular but the space is small.

rick reichert

This goose should make all my southern comfort food because it's the best. Love u goose. Never forget. Goose.

Johnny Kehr

Amazing southern fare in a cozy setting. The food here is lights out good. I usually get the sawmill, but everything here is good. Biggest negative is also one of its positives: it's space. Whole very homey, it get m fills up fast, and the line forms right in the middle of it. I've given up even trying to go in the weekends. Really the best time to go is a weekday brunch, as long as you don't mind getting into work with a food coma.

Jan Pareja

Come here for the ambiance! Sitting inside The Wandering Goose and seeing all that pass by to get their to-go pastries sum up what the diverse community of Capitol Hill is all about. The place is cozy and warm. The pastries are delicious. The meals are filling and affordable. It's a great neighborhood diner/bakeshop.

Jimmy Cornillez

Overpriced and fried chicken was just okay. I've had better from the deli at the QFC across the street, but the sides were really good, so they got that going for them. Also, the other food I saw being serve looked delicious...I might give them another try...

Ryan Cress

Food was amazing as was the Mocha coffee. I ate a sausage, egg,and chz biscuit that was plentiful and hot. Biscuit was crisp on the outside while soft and moist in the middle. Highly recommended.

Thomas Berg

A breakfast craving for fried chicken led us to The Wandering Good. I ordered today's biscuit special: Fried chicken, coleslaw, pickled onion, sweet heat sauce, & baby arugula. Recipe and execution were both stellar. First-rate battering on the chicken; nice crunch without being too crispy. Chicken was moist and tender. Slaw & pickled onions perfectly complement the dish. And they clearly specialize in biscuits because that thing was excellent: tender and easy to pull off in chunks, full of flavor (read: butter). Impressive, especially since they had to scale the recipe to make it big enough for the chicken. Wife ordered the fried chicken plate. Again, excellent job with the battering & frying. Chicken itself was juicy. Biscuit was just as good as mine; even better when topped with the berry jam. Collared greens aren't generally our thing, but these had a unique flavor and great texture. Small kick to the marinade was a pleasant surprise, works well. My guess is brown sugar + radish. Quite impressive. We'll be back for sure.

Chris Lynch

Food and coffee is very good. For a counter service bus your own table, the prices are a bit high. Spent $50 for two sandwiches coffee and a mimosa.

Stef

I'm addicted to their pastries. The raspberry jam is out of this world! Definitely try the Sawmill breakfast at least once.

brian benavidez

I jokingly said we wondered in to this restaurant and the restaurant wondered in to our heart... twice. (Insert cheese lol) But this was seriously the best food we had while visiting. The fried chicken and the biscuits were amazing! The deserts were delicious. Order the old Dominican, fruit drink. It is a blend of pineapple, raspberry, orange and serrano pepper. The staff was super friendly. Clean restrooms. Overall 10+ or 10 stars.

Kim Bott

Really great food, everything. Good coffee, nice brunch booze (no bloody Mary tho), amazing sweets. The place is tiny though and gets line out the door rammed at weekend brunch times. It's still totally worth it but something to keep in mind if you're heavier, nervous in crowds, or mobility limited. The method to the madness, btw, is you line to order at the counter then find a seat (and bus your dishes when done). When the seats are full and kitchen backed they will just stop the line (and appease with baked goods) but the flow seems to work out usually.

Becky Gelder

We love this restaurant so we’re super disappointed to see that the quality has declined since we were last in. We were in for a late breakfast last week around noon. I ordered the daily biscuit sandwich and my partner ordered the sawmill. My sandwich came with a very small mostly bone piece of chicken (thigh i think) and my partner also got a very small piece of chicken in his. I went up to the counter and the woman was super nice, brought out another large piece to share. But this piece was under cooked (photo attached) showing a some definite pink in some of the thicker parts so we opted to stop eating and just call it a loss. On our way out, my partner used the men’s restroom only to see a couple roaches in there.

William McKee

Surprised and disappointed during my recent visit. While I have been impressed with the quality of the service on numerous previous visits, I guess Biscuits & Gravy isn't their thing? While the biscuits were fine, I found their sausage gravy very disappointing, it was thin and lacking any evidence of sausage. While surprised and disappointed in my meal, the service was as usual outstanding.

Ryan Grammer

Fried chicken and biscuits are amazing

Travis Hillman

Awesome fried chicken meals and wonderful ambiance.

Margo Ackman

They are packed on weekends, and the quality suffers a little bit. Food was a little cold. Still tasty and satisfying, but weekdays are better. I don't mind high prices, but the side of slaw is a total rip off. $6 for an amount that would fit in your palm. Compared to the other portions it seems way off.

Aman Mehra

Shared pictures below - we ordered Aunt Annies, Veggie Hash and Farro Salad for a lazy Saturday brunch. The food was extremely good except I didn’t quite appreciate the honey on my Aunt Annie dish (in their defense it was clearly mentioned in the menu so I should’ve paid more attention.

Les Merz

Friday night fried chicken is the best! Almost as good as your grandma's!

Lindsey Scully

Their fried chicken is amazing. Yes, you will have to wait in line (possibly even in a line that spans outside) but it IS worth it. I love their system of: you stand in line, you place order, THEN you go claim a table/seat. Also their cakes are massive.

Christian Garver

So I was looking for a good place to eat lunch close to my job site, and I do not regret stopping in. The food is Fire

Aaron Mack

You can't go wrong with biscuits and gravy but you can get better in Seattle. It's also counter-order and bus your own table so the pricing is high, especially when the till is one of those tablets that expects your minimum top to be 18%.

Vincent Cheng

Small space but really great atmosphere. Food is full of flavor and makes up for the small space.

Kristin Dorey

One of my favourite brunch spots ever! The cozy atmosphere and beautifully displayed pastries set the tone, but the food speaks for itself. I had a biscuit sandwich with fried chicken, and it really was exceptional. They have a list of daily specials, and a lot of choices for both food and drink. The only challenge here is getting a seat. There were many people who had finished eating and were just hanging out; that wouldn't be an issue if there were enough seats for all customers, but it became annoying when we had our meals and people were just watching us stand there with our plates of food while they lingered on with empty plates and glasses. I know it's an awkward situation for a restaurant to deal with, but it did take away a little from our experience, which was otherwise excellent.

Jim Benson

You will leave happy, well fed, and feeling good about life in general.

K Rana

Went for their Friday night fried chicken dinner, which I've been meaning to try for a while now. Overall, I thought it was okay but not particularly great. The collard greens were surprisingly tasty, the mashed potatoes and gravy was also good, the pimento mac and cheese was just so-so (not very cheesy). The batter on the fried chicken had a good texture, but otherwise I found the chicken to be pretty bland. One of my pet peeves is when chicken is not seasoned properly throughout the meat, which was the case here. Finally, the biscuit was terrific. Overall there's a lot of food for the price; I just wish that more of it was tastier.

Miss Joan

Excellent biscuits and gravy. Nice and cheery morning atmosphere. Friendly service.

Rabia Effendi

Tried the fried chicken with coleslaw and milk biscuit. The chicken was crispy and tasty. The sides were good. Enjoyed the biscuit with butter and jam the most.

Darian Carson

The food was good. I'm southern and I've never had sweet collard greens until the Wandering Goose. I've also never had field peas with mint before the Wandering Goose. It was interesting. The pimento mac and cheese was great. The biscuit was very good especially with the butter and jam ( I think it was raspberry and something else). We liked it so much we bought the cookbook. The only problem was the tiny space we had to crush into in the dining room. I wish it was bigger.

Harvey Arvin Li

I got their fried chicken biscuit with poached egg and sausage gravy. I thought it was good enough. Chicken batter wasn't flavorful, but it was cooked well and a good size. Gravy was a bit tangy for me but fine otherwise. I'm set to come back for fried chicken dinner and I'm hoping better it is better.

Brent Petre

Amazing fried chicken and bisquit combos!

HPeter Fink

Overhyped!! Long lines. Acrid vinegary Tabasco sauced food, poor service, overpriced.

Fabio Lopes

Great small place with delicious southern food! The music isn’t loud, quite mellow. Perfect to have a conversation and enjoy a quiet meal. Everything on the menu looks amazing and the food I ordered was absolutely amazing. Full of flavour.

Joyce-Jose Campos

I've had really good deserts from here before I actually dined at their restaurant so I had high expectations. The place is not that big so try to avoid the lunchtime rush or else you may not find a seat. The food we ordered was okay, IMHO. I'll give them a 3.5 stars for now because the food we ordered didn't blow me away as expected and their prices seemed a bit too high.

Matt Sheehan

Great little restaurant. We had the Sawmill and the original biscuit. Both were great. It has limited seating. They have a large selection of items. The drinks were delicious too. Very clean place.

Laurel Noack

Great breakfast

Kyle Linder

Best biscuits in Seattle, sawmill all day baby!

Nancy Gerard

A cute spot for breakfast or lunch but the food is overrated and overpriced. I had the fried chicken plate. The chicken was far overcooked and dry, the biscuit cold and hard. Parking is almost impossible.

Scott Boeck

The hard choice is to decide if we eat dessert first!

Mike Koss

It may look packed on a weekend, but they have a great system: stand in line to order, then find a table to wait for your food. Biscuits are delicious (and lots of ways to order them). It's actually fun eating elbow to elbow with their neighborhood clientele.

Eric Barnes

I should really stop going here if I want to fit back into my skinny jeans. Biscuits and jam qualify as a reason to slap your Grandmother and ask her how come she never baked these in your house.

Anny Campbell

Love this place! Awesome food and great people! Get there early because you need to order before you can grab a seat and seating is limited.

Britney Yates

The food was amazing. They have a decent setup. Order first then seat yourself. We had The Sawmill Biscuit. I substituted mine for mushroom gravy instead of sausage gravy. The mimosas were full! Only thing, the tables are not that sturdy so you may risk spilling your drink.

Rosemary Funk

Wandering Goose is a little high price budget-wise but it's worth it !! Everything I've ever had is A++++ The service is good. The establishment's very clean. And it's just a great place to get away and have good conversation.

Jen Hsu

Friendly staff, very cozy and great atmosphere for small gathering. Biscuit was excellent... great flavor, light, and not too buttery. Update: went back for more delicios biscuit with jam & butter!!!

Gary Medeiros

Place is packed with order first then sit. Menu items that are not being served is crossed out and not well displayed on the door. Dish washer hut wearing tank top exploding arms as he puts clean dishes above serving counter. People playing cards knowing there ia a huge line with the management not asking them, politely, to make seats available.

Sean G

I love breakfast food, and this is immediately one of the best in Seattle. The biscuits are so good. The gravy is perfect and just unique enough to set them apart. The eggs are great. The fried chicken was so tender and tasty... I can't wait to go back!

Raelyn Caldwell

So good I bought their cookbook to try and recreate their biscuits at home!!

Lucas Richardson

Very good food but also very expensive

Corey Herbert

Simply stunning. The biscuits are fluffy with a beautiful outer crunch to balance. The grits stood on their own. The eggs and chicken cooked perfectly. And then there was the cinnamon roll biscuit, nothing will ever supplement my need for that sweet, fluffy, crunchy biscuit warmed to the most pleasant temperature. I want a wandering goose in every city I visit.

Shani Badnani

Pretty good southern food for the Pacific Northwest! I got the mushroom gravy biscuit with a poached egg on top and it was filling! Surprisingly it didn't leave a heavy feeling either.

Kendra Meadows

3.5-star food with 1-star prices and seating.

Robert Karl

The biscuits are incredible. Just the most delectable food. It's a bit of a wait to get in and hard (but doable) with large groups. They have story books of " The Wandering Goose" throughout, and it's worth reading while you wait.

Nicole Black

My favorite 'fun' Cafe in Seattle, undeniably the best biscuits I've ever had!! The grits are fabulous (if you like mushrooms, there is a perfect grits dish for you)!

Cathy Rizo

Great place for a quick breakfast. Ive brought several friends here to eat when they visit Seattle for the first time.

Susanna

Cute place, solid breakfast or brunch spot, if you like a biscuit!! Service was helpful and friendly!! Very clean from tables to restrooms!

Lil Olin

Really delicious food and excellent service. Went here for brunch and ordered the bubble and squeak. It did not disappoint, meat was tender and everything had good flavor.

Allie Carscadden

Very limited seating. My veggie hash was quite undercooked, wasn't able to eat it. Coffee is good and the pastry I had as a follow up to not being able to eat the hash was yummy. Seating near front door is awkward, cold, and disruptive.

Alysun Seablom

Tried this place out when me and my boyfriend went on to Seattle for our anniversary and wow the sights were beautiful and the ball game was fun but we both agreed visiting this spot was our favorite part of the trip lol

Brian Jones

Quaint local restaurant.

josh Patrice

Looking forward to trying other items. The veggie meal served in cast iron instead of a plate had traces of metallic flavors. Fried chicken sandwich (sawmill?) was decent but lacking a ton of flavor. The gravy was especially bland and was unnecessarily mixed with cheese. Biscuit and jam was good. Lovely decor and good service, though I'd appreciate tables being wiped between guests.

Chris Kohl

The food tastes great if you can get over the strange format for securing a chair. It's pretty intimidating if you don't know what you're doing and after being there a few times, it's still a bit confusing.

Rashmika Eisenberg

Great food and friendly service. Usually pretty busy and crowded on weekends but on week days it's a very relaxed environment.

Vinay Reddy

Got the fried chicken plate. Did not enjoy the fried chicken - Sorry to say this but I'd definitely prefer KFC over this. The biscuit with butter and jam was delicious though. The kale side in a BBQ based sauce was nice too. If the review system had half stars I'd have given 3.5.

Thomas Nguyen

really good for its price

Ryan Cousins

Fantastic biscuits. Line moves pretty fast so don't worry if it's out the door.

Shandee Hicks

A little confusing if you've never been but after walking in and sitting down we saw a sign on the wall that says you order first at the counter. Very chill place, food was good but after eating biscuits and gravy I wish I would have chosen something less spicy.

Tonjia Linderoth

Great biscuits and oyster po boy was really good. Cakes and other sweets looked good but too full this time.

Kim Palmer

Delicious, high quality Southern food. They serve Benton's ham and bacon which are intensely smoky and really complement their biscuit and breakfast-y dishes. Highly recommend.

Tira Mist

Just eat anything with biscuits. Other than that's it's not so good. The fried chicken should have been good having being a southern eatery, but it was not good, dry and no taste. But anything with the biscuits are so so good. Love them. The desserts are in the same way awesome. Didn't try any of the beverages, so can't really comment. But coffee was fine.

Deborah East

They have amazing biscuit sandwiches here. I’ve been here twice and each time have tried a couple different sandwiches and some of there other breakfast like the grits and they have all been very good. Particularly the biscuits. I will definitely return and tell others to try it out.

Krystina Castleburning

I've only been here once and my food was tasty. It was crowded and the place is small, so you may have to wait for a while on the weekends.

Jean Hannon

Very overpriced, the staff were rude and the place was chaotic. It was hard to relax and enjoy.

Benita Cruise

At the Wonering Goose the service leaves something to be desired, order at the counter and bus your own table, but THE FOOD. Cute seating areas inside and out, and again... those baked goods. We tried the Aunt Annie biscuit sandwich, the orange blossom cornmeal cake, and the Easy with bacon, took a cherry turnover and captain crunch rice crispy treat home. We also almost were served the chicken plate, which we immediately regretted not ordering. Greens, mac and cheese, several pieces of crisp and delicious looking chicken... totally drool worthy. Pretty upsetting that they were "out" of grits. What does that even mean? Cook more, am I right? Our own sandwiches though were pretty good. My egg was slightly less than over hard, but the bacon was crisp and tasty and the biscuits were flaky and absolutely perfect. The chicken on the Aunt Annie was huge and crisp but still moist. BF added more honey but he's a weirdo so I'm not sure that means much. THAT CAKE. Wandering Goose knows how to bake treats, that is for sure. It was moist and sweet and absolutely delicious. Later we tried the other treats... crispy treat was awesome. The crunch berries were perfect compliments. The turnover! That crust! The ratio of filling to crust was perfection. I cannot stress how good all of their pastries are. The house hot sauces are good. Definitely coming back for Fried chicken Friday!

Jenny P

The biscuits and the jams are phenomenal!! I will never look at biscuits and jam the same way after eating here!

Darnell Kebo

2/3/19: I'm sorry to have to say I was disappointed with my meal. Although the fried chicken was delightfully crisp and juicy it was lacking in flavor. The sausage gravy was just ok and didn't seem to have much going on. There was a tangy vinegar like flavor that was confusing me. The sausage was bland. The biscuit was nice and fluffy. Our meal cost $52 including tip. Order at the counter, fill your own water, and bus your table. Overall it felt overpriced.

Miles Hicks

Some of the best southern-style biscuits and gravy.

Sandi Terry

Delicious food!

Kerry Summers-Valdez

I had really high expectations of this place after a friend posted a picture of his fried chicken plate from the Friday menu. Almost everything you would expect from a southern cooking restaurant. I was disappointed to find that it was indeed only a Friday deal, but I went anyways because I was able to get most of the components of the dish. We waited in line for 30 minutes on a Saturday morning while we watched others eat. This is probably par for the course on Capital Hill on a Saturday. We ordered and got our food probably another 20 minutes. later. I ordered the veggie plate and a side if grits and a slice of Red Velvet cake. And a lemonade. I downed half of the lemonade before the food came out and tried to make it last the whole because clearly the servers were very busy. The beans that come with the meal were very hard (not sure if undercooked or just a tough bean. Never had them before and I'm from the South. Should have been black-eyes peas. The biscuit was good. Perfect blend of crispy and fluffy. The grits were an unusual texture... Much larger grains than I have ever experienced. Still on the fence about them. But they did have zero flavor. The greens were real tough. Maybe personal preference, but I couldn't finish. The start of the show was the mac and cheese. 1000% delicious. There cake was to die for. I needed a refill of my lemonade tho. I finally asked a server if there were refills. She very abruptly, and almost annoyedly said "no" and rushed off. we had previously noted the signs on the wall saying that you need to bust your own table. I asked my sister what the total bill was for the meal. "Are you sure you want to know?" I insisted. $145 for 4. She then told me she made the mistake of tipping 20% at the time she ordered, which was included in the $145. I was astounded. Lesson learned. To me, this experience was just another one of those "hot" restaurants that pop up that everyone's dying to try, but they never go back for seconds. I'm really sad to say it. I had high high hopes.

Ben Lauer

The Aunt Annie's biscuit sandwich was amazing

This was such a pleasant experience. Their breakfast was absolutely amazing. We also bought their pastries and those are amazing too! The staff were friendly and kind and efficient. I definitely recommend this place for anyone living in or visiting Seattle.

Kumar Narayanan

Ok. Not that great to justify the hype. Items without gravy were to dry.

Sariki Schutte

Service was excellent, but the food was lacking. Got the bubble and squeak, had litteraly one half inch cube piece of beef in it. Was a tad spicy too which would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Kenny

Excellent food friendly atmosphere.

From what I ordered, “aunt annie’s” surely blows my mind with the perfect crispy yet juicy fried chicken, and her sweetness in honey and house mustard. Every bite is enjoyable. One star off for the self-service model. Before dining I had to diligently clean the oily gifts reserved from the previous guest(s?). Homey yes, but not very fun for me.

Solid breakfast biscuit spot on Cap Hill. I got one of the breakfast biscuit sandwiches. The biscuit was normal size and a little crispy which wasn’t ideal, but the egg and bacon were pretty good. I also got a side of the country ham, which was a bit too salty for my taste. One knock was the price, everything here is just so expensive- including everything it was $25 for a sandwich, side, and drink. Also, the space is bus-your-self, so not really going there for service, which makes the high prices even more confusing. Overall, this is a good place if you’re hankering for a biscuit breakfast but given the price probably a once every few months place.

Adam Briles

Aunt Annie’s biscuit sandwich was extremely delicious. The grits and grillades, although the highest quality grits I’ve ever had, were on the bland side. The service was great! Very friendly staff.

Had a handsome slice of cake☺. Almond coconut sponge with chocolate frosting and almond shavings. The sponge on this cake was perfectly baked moist and bouncy, my fork sliced perfect portions every time with out crumbling. Amazing customer service and friendly staff. I got my eye on red velvet for my next visit.

My personal favorite was the Saw Mill. Pastries are good but the sandwiches are better. Southern charm (aesthetically and customer service wise). The food was perfectly priced and delicious (mouth watering amazingness). Order first, then seat yourself. Bus your own table by bringing your dishes straight past the register and to the right (before you would turn down the hall) easy enough and makes the atmosphere more relaxed). Water is self serve to the left of the cash register. Parking is street only and kind of a pain (limit one hour). Bathroom is in the back down the hall on your left.

bakside Disaster

I grew up in the South and was pretty excited to try this restaurant out. I had the Sawmill chicken biscuit sandwich and it was super salty! So much I could barely eat half while pounding water. To top it off the layout of the restaurant out puts a constant huge line at your back on the weekend. This makes the dining experience a little uncomfotable as people are bumping into you and there's no privacy. Tables are small, first come first serve after you order. Not recommend for parties over 4, better if it's just two. Don't think I'll be going back.

This little gem in North Capital Hill is a must visit they have amazing breakfast and the decor is great. Be warned there is not much inside seating and it gets filled quick.

Omnipotential

I have had a few different things here and honestly I have yet to have or see anything from the menu that isn't awesome. Their fried chicken? Amazing. The basic jam and butter muffin? Somehow manages to be the exact right amount of crisp on the outside while the inside is perfectly moist and the jam and butter perfectly compliment each other. Their savory breakfasts are amazing as well. The only real downside is that the wait can sometimes be horrendous but what can the staff do about it when they are constantly slammed. Definitely worth the wait if you're currently debating if the line is worth waiting in.

Mary Wingert

There is usually a line but it moves quickly so the wait isn't long. Everything is delicious with high quality, fresh ingredients. The fresh juice and coffee is great too. Plus, a variety of pastries and desserts.

Vanessa Diaz

Wow!! Everything was delicious!!! Form the line, order, take a seat, and enjoy when it comes out hot! First chicken and biscuits that I can say I LOVE!!!

Kahealani alexander

Wow! Can you say delicious? Loved the cozy environment and the food was to die for.

Zach Mickler-Sandoval

This place has the best fried chicken I have ever had and I wish I lived here so I could eat it all the time. I wish they had a chicken joint like this place in Dallas because it would make a killing. The chicken was perfectly fried to a crisp without being a drippy greasy mess and it exquisite mouth feel. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Bobbi Mollenberg

Came in a 4 top, tried 2 slices of incredible cake that was so delicious we couldn't finish. Had a variety of food options and they killed it, the food was seasoned wonderfully, the wait wasn't long and the line was out the door. Coffee was hot, we wattled away very pleased and excited to return

loneoceans

Delicious cake and hash that worked.

Sabrina Friend

Delicious food. Casual place for a quick lunch. I had two sides. A fried chicken thigh and grits. Super thick crispy coating. Neutral enough for the pepper averse like me and yet deliciously chickeny. Grits were coarse, flavorful and plentiful. I'd go back and try other things. Please, stock diet soda. I had a Coke, because they don't have any diet sodas.

Jake Kline

You will not find better grits & pork loin in the city. Wonderful, wonderful, southern-style food on 15th Ave in Capitol Hill. Staff & service also top notch.

Hailey Johansen

My cousin found this place for us to meet for brunch. I really wish we came not so hung over so I could eat ALLL the treats there. But our meal was amazing. Its hard to eat anything healthy here... so come prepared knowing you are eatting some real good cookin and calories dont matter!

Adrienne Michener

I had high hopes for the food here as I am from the South. The grits were watery and had no flavor whatsoever. I'm not sure there was even butter in them? Only the touch of cheese which I paid extra for. I had to hunt down some salt & pepper to add some spice but it didn't do much and I couldn't eat them. The oyster po-boy was good on the inside, but the bread was very thick in comparison to the filling inside. I ordered a drip coffee as well, but no clean utensils to stir my sugar and half/half with. My wife seemed ok with her biscuit sandwich, even though it was dry. I doubt I will come back here again. The food compared to the price of it was not worth it. What are you paying for with the small space and having to bus your own table? I would assume the food would be top notch.

Melissa Plummer

Well worth the wait in line and easily the best southern brunch I've found in Seattle! Must try their homemade biscuits.

Cons: It takes a while to get your food when it's busy; you're looking at 30-60 minutes from when you get in the line to when you get your food. It is very cramped, you're constantly being bumped into and some of the times, with the neighbourhood this is in, you have rude and haughty people who won't like it if you says excuse me to bus your dishes back to the bus pit. That's one thing they like you to do too, you have to bus your dishes back in that cramped space. Pros: This place literally serves up dreams. I'm from Canada and where I live, rent is so high restaurants resort to frozen foods non stop and its low quality, it's got tons of preservatives in it and you can tell. This is not the case here. You can eat a full meal and feel good after, not stuffed and feeling like you can't move for an hour afterwards. The pricing is adequately done, it isn't exorbitantly overpriced, you definitely get more than what you pay for. I got the Sawmill Sandwich which is fried chicken on a biscuit, with gravy and white cheddar. You can add a poached egg to it as well, which I most definitely did. The chicken was beautifully seasoned with the most amazing gravy. I don't believe they double crumb the chicken but it doesn't matter because the meat itself is very tender and juicy. The biscuit up top was crunchy on the outside, but warm and pillowy on the inside. They have baked cake, pastries, cookies, lots of different sides, and fresh pressed juices daily. They have coffee for yourself as well. I really regret not trying the Birthday cake, it looked amazing. You can come here for a coffee and a slice of cake to treat yourself, or you can come for chicken and beer, which they can sell by the buckets (3 for 15$) type deal. I've had southern food before, and this was the best I've had by far. 5 stars because the pros heavily outweigh the cons.

I'm from the south so I was excited to taste the fare at The Wandering Goose. Chicken biscuit featured a massive hunk of boneless fried chicken in a monster biscuit. I liked the po boy I ordered. Interesting space and atmosphere. You order at the counter and there are signs instructing patrons to bus their own tables. That's not very southern unless it's at a fast food chain. Prices aren't particularly economical and the check-out system suggests generous tipping. I'm happy to tip generously for wait staff to take my order, deliver my food, and clean my table prior to my sitting down and after I leave. But I sat at a table littered with chicken crumbs and then cleaned up after my own self. I might go back if I'm in the area hankering after interesting southern-inspired food, but the service prohibits me from giving this establishment 5 stars.

Johnny Chang

Fried chicken was dry. Thin sliced of chicken with a ton of breading. Mac n cheese was bland and a bit runny. Over priced and not that good

Max Shenfield

The chicken biscuit sandwich (The Sawmill) was good as anything I had living in Nashville for almost a decade, although one of the pastries I ordered (cinnamon roll biscuit) was badly burnt. Pro tip, bus your dishes to the bins in the hallway to the left of the register.

Dick Thomas

Old fashioned restaurant. Not open enough hours.

Krista O'Halpin

Love stopping by here for one of their delicious biscuits or cakes. Also a great spot to get brunch with friends. I cant wait to try their fried chicken! This is one of the true spots that actually remind me of home back in the North Georgia Mountains.

Jasmine Davis

We got the biscuit of the day - chicken thigh, aioli, egg and lettuce on a biscuit. Ended up being $16ish dollars for just the biscuit. The chicken was delicious though! The lettuce made the sandwich a little bland, would’ve been better with arugula

Jason Marshall

Tried the side of potatoes and the Aunt Annie's and they were both very good! Place gets busy so there's a little wait but it's worth it.

Allie Welsh

One of them best breakfasts you will have in your life.

Marc Ave

So delicious. I have to come here every-time I am in Seattle.

Lisa F

A self service type of restaurant (order at the counter and bus your own table). For a $50 lunch for two (2 entrees and one juice) it seemed odd to have to bus our own table. Fried chicken was nice and crispy but bland. Biscuit was heavenly- crispy, flaky and moist with fresh butter and jam. Oyster po boy was difficult to eat and on the bland side. Would only go back for the biscuit.

Carolyn Emigh

If you are hitting this place up on the weekends, go early. We went about 8am and by the time we left every table was full and there was a line nearly to the door. Great food and it's usually pretty quick. We like the biscuit with fried chicken and gravy and the biscuit with egg, cheese and bacon.

Elizabeth Garza

Food took to long waited 1 hour, mac and cheese dry , chicken no favor 4 dollar tip for no service you order food at cashier and have to bus your own table get your own water

Brittany Fairchild

The biscuits and sausage gravy are life. The desserts are yummy. Otherwise just Ok. They can't seem to poach an egg for anything. I've given them 3 tries and it's turned out bad each time. The counter staff are just unpleasant and snobby

Thomas Wysocki

The biscuits and gravy was amazing, and the option to add a fried chicken thigh is a nice bonus (since it too is tasty). Super crowded for brunch, which is to be expected. Seating can be tricky for groups larger than 2 as it's seat yourself and you're only suppose to sit after you order. [Note: It's encouraged to give the evil eye to the occasional inconsiderate person or two who sit before ordering, who make it harder for those following the rules to find seats ;-) ]

wilson lam

Came back again and wasn't disappointed Again -- get the basic biscuit and jam sandwich. Their jam is to die for and their biscuit is fluffy yet crunchy

Nici Bissonnette

This is my go to week day breakfast spot opening at 7 am. Biscuit sandwiches are delightful, as is the fried chicken & coffee. There is a good selection of baked goods, with giant, but surprisingly good cake slices. Ambiance is cute & cozy, with copy’s of the Wandering Goose book peppered throughout the small, narrow restaurant. Order at the counter, grab a seat & your food is brought to you.

Camden Willeford

Traveling from North Carolina to Seattle and have to say this is pretty good southern food.

A W

You cant call yourself southern if you ain't got sweet tea! However, the food was delicious and the service was great as well. They are pretty pricey though for a biscuit joint especially since you have to bus your own table.
