Lia Straight

Love this coffee place, discovered it on a weekend trip to Seattle from Brooklyn. The cafe is warm and inviting, there’s beautiful rows of blooming flower trees outside, music is soft and calming, staff are incredibly friendly, kind, and accommodating. The single origin coffee comes with an accountability report and tells you who exactly farmed it and where it came from. Can’t wait to come back.

Anne Finchem

Good coffee. Relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of seating. Unique tiles on some of the tables.

Sunil Davidson

Great Coffee place. The Chai was also super! Spacious .

Warren Kerney

I've had a lot of espresso, but this might be the best Americano I've had. Really smooth and not bitter at all. The cafe is right across the street from Pike Place Market and a must for a cup of joe.

420 velli

Wonderful cozy hip spot full of

John Makepeace

Good coffee and pastries. Talented and friendly baristas. Nice cozy space right next to Target and the Market. "No tip policy" means worker pay and benefits are paid by the company, not the customer- and their prices are competitive with Starbucks, cheaper than some other local places.

Alexis Sparks

Expensive coffee that was the quality of burnt hotel coffee.

Anthony Carro

Whoa! That’s an amazing cup of coffee. Well worth a stop after checking out the world famous Public Market!

manish pandey

Great cappuccino

Joseph Rein

Very good coffee

Isaac Olmedo

Delicious slow bar coffee that also happens to ethically sourced!

Yuxian Du

Pretty cozy place offering good-taste coffee. Well-roasted coffee with silky milk is the best. This place also has some historical feeling with one brick-structure side wall. Music is relaxing and entertaining.

Nikki B

Iced vanilla latte tasted like iced milk no coffee. Should have went to the Starbucks across the street.

Malice2501

Cool little coffee shop in a super convenient location. Five stars because it practices much better than just fair trade when purchasing their beans and is also a no-tip cafe, meaning their employees have a living wage Oh, and great coffee!

Iryna Lahoda

So delicious coffee. Highly recommend. I buy coffee beans for my espresso machine here. Works just fine.

Gouri Deshpande

Located right by the farmers market. Very friendly staff. Casual, easy ambiance. Finding a parking here might be very challenging, but if you plan to shop a bit at Target, you’ll get free parking there. This is just next door! Restrooms available. I absolutely love the chai tea latte here. Outside snacks/chips allowed

Jamie Vargas

Fine spot for tasty cafe food. Staff is always nice even when they have a full house. The service was friendly and sociable.

milo lawson

It was so amazing! The barista was very knowledgeable about the brew and made very nice conversation. I would highly recommend you stop in for a while if you get the chance. :-)

stephanie hopps

I must say I felt quite honored that I got to be at the Starbucks first opening restaurant coffee shop never thought that I would ever be in Starbucks first coffee shop very basic looking nothing special still looks pretty ancient but still serves great lattes

Aethena Drake

Great coffee. Friendly staff. Wish they had different dairy alternatives though. Macadamia nut milk would be perfect.

Akshay Ram

Great coffee.. loved my double shot latte.. priced same as Starbucks

Martin Mayorga

DISCLAIMER: I’ve been in the coffee business since 1997 I travel a lot for my business and am always seeking independent coffee shops. Seattle Coffee Works is a well-known staple in Seattle and always my first choice when I’m In the area. I visited there yesterday before some meetings and had a delicious Ethiopian natural brewed in a Chemex. Not only was the coffee smooth, flavorful, and fruity, but the service was friendly and inviting—unfortunately a rare find in coffee shops that make quality drinks. If you’re in Seattle, do yourself a favor and go to SCW—not the green mermaid.

Marisa TenCate

Best latte I've had! Definitely glad I didn't spend time waiting in the line to have a coffee at the first Starbucks when this place was right down the street and so much better than any Starbucks I've ever had.

Keppie Robinson

Very Nice coffee shop WITH OUTLETS for charging electronics while you enjoy the menu

Alaina Rydzewski

Fantastic, cozy place to enjoy a cup of coffee and watch people going by.

Laura S

Excellent selections of a variety of coffees from blended drips, to single origin coffees. The food is a tasty compliment to the coffees and espressos. A quaint environment with knowledgeable and friendly staff make the experience enjoyable. Skip Starbucks and come here.

Great coffee, cute interior, many charges. Becoming my favorite chain.

Boris Vinnik

Great coffee, fresh and tasty pastries, very welcoming and clean place next to Market.

Dena McMullen

I loved the vibe of this place. They also make a great americano. Sweet location as well.

Jenna Keller

Delicious! I got the Au Lait for here and enjoyed sipping my coffee while letting the rain pass. The atmosphere is nice with a lot of seating inside and some outside. The staff was super friendly. It was pricey but it’s expected for the area. Love how they roast their own coffee.

Joshua Sanchez

Brad Huff

Had an awesome mocha latte made with almond milk. Great coffee, great service, great atmosphere.

Leon Billingsley

Decor is Seattle Funky. Service is very pleasant. We had various coffees and pastries, and a Lumberjack breakfast sandwich. All were very good. One big attraction was the deep comfortable leather chairs - bravo! I wish all cafes were as comfortable.

jonathan Jaffe

Great coffe but their crossaints are garbage. Paper cups only a hour before closing.

Jonathan Rodrigues

Some of the best coffee in the city, always smooth and complex. You won't detect the bitter, earthy flavors of chain coffee shops as they about balance.

Cat Spencer

Great little coffee shop!

Patricia Anderson

Best oat latte in town.

Dana Phipps

Great flavored coffee, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. My almond milk latte was very tasty. Worth the extra block walk from Pike Place Market.

Tom O'Hara

Their service is friendly and their coffee is delicious.

Jen Hsu

Excellent dark roast coffee. Great aroma and has good after taste without the burnt. Excellent cherry almond scones. Not too buttery and sweet!

Rose Des Sartes

Come for the coffee, stay for the food. The cafe food here is so good.

Mirella Perez

Great location and staff. Joel was super friendly crafted an amazing almond milk cortado that brought me back to life after my long plane ride. If you are in town definitely recommend this place. High quality , independent and sustainable coffee place.

Ayman Afifi

Hands down - best latte in town. A bit strong and more expensive but super tasty. Cozy and rustic place to work or meet friends.

Mark Shelby

We stopped here to put our feet up for a minute, and it was lovely. It’s a little small, but we had no problem finding a table and our orders were delicious and the service was great as well. It was definitely a little pricey, but it’s about what you might expect for downtown in a large city.

viivi Chen

Nice coffee. The first one satisfied me in US! Love it!

Evelyn Perez

I am not a fan of coffee, so I when with Theo Chai Milk Chocolate with coconut hot drink! It was delicious.. Great Location!!

Israel Hammond

Seattle Coffee Works is steps away from the Pike Market Place in downtown Seattle. If you wanted to stop by for a quick coffee stop or a place to relax, this coffee shop provides the best service and resting area. The atmosphere is very calm and there is plenty of space and seats for people. There is also wifi for you to use and multiple plugs around the room for charging your phones or laptops. My friend and I ordered the Iced and Hot Vanilla Lattes. They both were delicious drinks! The iced vanilla latte is more sweeter than the hot vanilla latte. It's always a classic and it tasted delicious! There is also complimentary water for you if you needed water to drink. Seattle Coffee Works is a coffee shop I highly recommend!

Nate F

Amazing coffee, and I just get the basic drip! Super friendly service! Cozy atmosphere! Pfffft.... and y'all wanna go to Starbucks.

Lazarus Drake

Lovely staff, amazing coffee (DELICIOUS espresso, from a long time barista!! Fresh and acidic!), great atmosphere and location!!! As a visitor to the city we were really happy to find this place! I also love that they include tips in the prices and emphasize farmers wellness so much. I would give it more stars if I could!!

Henry Darnell

We were looking for a shop in Seattle that would hand brew coffee, and SCW will do Chemexes, pourovers, or aeropress for any of their beans. Their milk drinks were good both hot and cold, and the barista that made my aeropress was kind and explained what he was doing as he made it in front of me, which is always a customer service plus!

Scott A. Moore

Great service and coffee.

rafsandiego

Great coffee. Great atmosphere. Clean.

Cody Heisinger

Tasty brew.

Grace Seol

Worst coffee I ever had. I'm too lazy to tag review but I really felt that I have to do at this time. It's more expensive than starbucks but the taste of coffee is really weak like drinking pure water. Worst price, worst taste. I rather take 2 cups of starbucks.

Pete Banos

My go to coffee shop when I fly into Seattle! I wish more cafes would adopt a slowbar

Josh Billings

One of the greatest specialty coffee shops that I have been to.

Dan Chen

Coffee 4.5 stars (better then Starbucks ) Pastry 3.5 stars Vibe 3.5 stars Staff 5 stars

Amando Hopper

taste good. nice service.

Osmel Cuan

Flavorful Nicaragua espresso came with a carbonated water, nice touch.

Mark Haugan

So much better coffee with none of the crazy Starbucks lines.

Victoria Robinson

Nice little coffee shop. They pulled a great espresso. It's a comfortable place to sit and chat with friends. Nice service. Recommend.

Mark Mallott

Good coffee.

Devina Gillis

I ordered a latte that tasted fantastic, the staff were friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. It was extremely busy, there was no sitting room left inside, likely because it's located a block from Pike Place Market, so it was filled with tourists.

Jennifer Gagner

The coffee here is really really good. It's super caffeinated and expensive. Highly recommend if you are interested in trying a new type of coffee preparation too, they have every type of machinery available.

Elyssa Lefurgey-Smith

This place is so great! I sat at the slow bar and tried a couple of different beans. The staff member serving me was so knowledgeable and explained everything about their beans, origin and process. The coffee was excellent and the experience was above and beyond.

Industrial Strength DJ - Weddings, Events & Partie

Sign out front says: Sandwiches. Went in to get one & was told they don't make sandwiches anymore, so I left...

Grace Gravestock

Local roaster. Great quality coffee, attentive service. Vegan options. Real whipped cream available. Best mocha

Ian Payne

Great place for coffee and a pastry. Right on top of the market and serves way better coffee than the Starbucks.

FuzzyBlueJay

Great place for tourist to grab a nice cup of coffee! Right next to the famous pike place market. Probably the best alternative to the famous first starbuck store down the block (it is not as long of a line). Good tasting option and has items with coffee art. Free wifi.

Eugenio Bacordo

Good for a boost after a day in Pike’s. The double espresso lent me another 3 hours of exploration amidst the weekend crowd. Young and cheerful staff as could be expected from a coffee shop.

Ash Jag

This is like the best coffee in town! I am loyal to their caramel latte and it has never let me down. The staff is great.. it's a cute little place with games and simple seating. I have brought many of our friends and relatives here and bought the same drink.. and it's always great :)

Ján Sáreník

Peaceful coffee place. Good for meeting a friend.

Amrit Kahlon

Food is excellent, as is the coffee. Solid old school tunes, and you don't even have to tip as they pay their baristas a proper wage. Top marks for a coffee shop.

Michael Barto

Espresso was very good and the service was excellent. They have some cozy spots to sit and chat. Good atmosphere.

Tiina Mõniste

Giving 5 points for the interior, friendly staff, sockets and coffee. Good: Since I'm not a fan of Starbucks, I was trying to find some other place to recharge myself and my phone. So I found this place, which was very nice. Coffee was really good (actually Macchiato). And I managed to get my phone recharged as well (you have to have your own phone charger, but there are many sockets). Bad: the wooden seats were not too comfortable (comfy-looking armchairs were taken when I got there) and toilet was dirty.

Abraham Chapman

Cafe food... my favorite treat. Filled me up. Service treated us so kindly. This place has a nice atmosphere.

Lauralei Singsank

Great coffee place right next to pike place market! Their cappuccino is one of the best I’ve had, and their squash bread is a whole meal on its own. Definitely recommend for anything from a relaxed study space to grabbing a quick bite!

Seth Brown

Ordered a Kenyan coffee at the slow bar - V60. One of the servers came over and explained the whole process and we talked coffee for a while. Excellently made coffee, delightful atmosphere, personable staff.

oliver ehleringer

Great coffee and knowledgeable Batista's on non-mass produced coffee

Sari G

Great coffee. Try the harvest bread! Delicious and filling.

Brian deBourguignon

Coffee is decent but not great. The space gets overheated easily and it's very expensive.

Brian M. Demkowicz

A real Seattle coffee shop. Warm wooden interior and a friendly staff that know coffee. Plenty of power outlets for phone chargers and computers.

Josh DeAngelis

Great Americano

Missa McFadden

Skip the Starbucks on every corner and get a really good cup of coffee here. Honest to goodness the best coffee you'll find in Seattle or Ballard. We always stop in everytime we are downtown. Absolutely delicious.

Chelsea Hedlund

Extremely friendly! Welcoming environment and amazing coffee! No sugar free options and if that is what you’re looking for but there is Stevia and other sweeteners.

John Koziol

They make a mean cup of coffee!

Tejal Raut

Spacious coffee shop right outside pike place market. Tried a basic latte, and it was nice!

Alejandro Muñoz

One of my favorite coffeehouse in Seattle, has a some of my selected brewing methods like Kemex and vacuum pot. Ask for the Guatemala washed

Kevin Hines

The coffee is perfect every time. If you get a latte, etc, it isn't too sweet. The coffee art is also very good for each drink. Like a typical coffee shop, there isn't too much for seating. But when you can find a seat, it's a great place to relax and gather your thoughts.

Antonina Lovyn

This place is known to serve very high quality coffee and I am impressed! It was so delicious, I will definitely be coming back here. The interior design could use some work, my chair was a bit wobbly and the seating was awkward. But the coffee is worth it.

Marcus Unsworth

I first went here years back before I ever moved to Seattle, and had been trying to relocate it after I did. Finally found it again, and the chai was every bit as good as I remembered: spicy, and not very sweet at all. Their espresso is also great.

Linda Andrews

I love this place. Good people & service. The coffee and food are just as good. Better than Starbucks by far.

christian lovell

Cool place to enjoy a coffee! Staff is polite and very accommodating!

Scott Warner

Always good coffee!

Alex Divinsky

Excellent espresso for the price and a great atmosphere. Seattle Coffee Works is probably the best small coffee shop in its a area. Loved it. I recommend anything off the espresso menu; their shots are pulled perfectly.

Vincent Wartenweiler

Stopped here to recharge during a long day of sightseeing. The barista made a special white mocha just for me!

David Frantz

The staff was extremely kind and personable and the atmosphere was lovely. Not crowded enough that we wanted to leave immediately, despite being so close to Pike Place. Great place and great alternative to Starbucks

Heather H

Great coffee and service, good prices. Get the peanut butter cookie. Good options for dairy alternatives and gluten free snacks too.

Mansoor Burhani

Really cool place! I really enjoyed the atmosphere

Abhishek Bhandari

Amazing mocha cappuccino.

Django Lowe

Coffee is good, staff is nice, but it could be a little cleaner. Enjoyed the music and phone the ability to change my phone.

Ben Sammons

This V60 pour over is the best I've ever gotten at a roaster. Hands down

Nicolás Sacheri

Great location. I liked the experience but didn't like the espresso so much, probably because of the light roast of the coffee. Great service anyway.

Royce Johnson

Great coffee shop. They have high quality beans, great drinks and very friendly service.

Brenda Romero

great mochas, a lot of new things to try!

Thomas Fowler

We love to get pour over coffee here. The baristas are all very knowledgeable, and super nice. Highly recommend dropping by for some coffee.

Praveen Mishra

nice coffee

sarah ali

Cozy place. Coffee was interesting but can be improvised

Sam Albert

After touring nearly a dozen third wave shops in the downtown/capitol hill area, this was by far the winner. I strongly recommend the vacuum pot brewing method, it was the single best cup of coffee I’ve had in my life. They had an Ethiopian roast dialed in for it and it was perfect (I went home with a bag). This shop is expensive compared to most other shops but all three of my trips here were beyond excellent, so it is worth it. Excellent staff, very friendly and eager to discuss brewing techniques and different roasts. The vibe is lively but fairly cozy. Even being so close to Pike Place Market, we were able to secure a table during each of our trips here in the afternoon. This, along with a couple other shops in Seattle, is the place to go for a truly great cup of coffee.

nana chiu

Good to drink。

kaycee moore

For being right next to pike place market the place actually isn’t crowded with tourists. I went on a weekday morning and had the entire place to myself. The atmosphere is cool and the espresso tastes amazing, my only complaint is my cappuccino barely had any more foam than a latte.

Hal Leonard

Great coffeeshop downtown and near the Market.

steven regnault

Wonderful service, great location!

Natalie Gemma

Delicious coffee! Friendly employees! Great place to meet up.

David Ellis

My wife and I were visiting from Minnesota and we really enjoy GOOD coffee. I have been roasting for a few years too. This coffee shop is extremely good ! Wow !

Marc Van-De-Cappelle

Very good ground coffee

Anna Stenwick

This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Seattle. The mocha is fantastic. I love buying their freshly roasted beans as well.

Miss Rosalinda Calahorrano

ugot2nome

Just walked into this coffee shop which sits right across from a known brand name and I have to say that the coffee is excellent and it is served in a real cup and saucer. Service is top knotch, people are friendly and truly earns all of my 5 stars.
