REVIEWS OF Purple Cafe and Wine Bar IN Washington

Brad Ambrosi

We stopped in here for a quick dinner before heading to the airport. We got there at 5, with no reservations, and it was super busy as there was a show close by we didn't know about. They got us in and service was outstanding! Antonio was our server and went above and beyond and we only had a quick soup and sandwich. He still found a way to make us feel special and got us in and out fast. Food was great and can't wait to go back for a full dining experience. You must check it out, great place

Anna M.

Lovely. Delectable. Ambience. The food was full of flavor, I do recommend to start with the stuffed dates! The wine...oh the wine, all the wines. They have an extensive selection and are very knowledgeable. I will say that it gets loud and that's do to it's popularity, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance.

Denise Kulak

A fabulous place for dinner. A most memorable meal. Atmosphere is fantastic and service above board.

Maria Izabel Valente Lucas

Food is great but place is to dark...

Karri Hooks

The circular wine!/liqr wall is so beautiful!! Place is always packed though. High end!

Ekaterina Nechaeva

Looks fancy, the wine menu looks like a novel book and has its own table of contents! Very appealing for wine lovers! Food was ok, good, not outstanding. And it's very noisy (we were here between 5 and 8pm). It's not a place for an intimate evening, but rather for a loud friends gathering.

Annelysa Quinn

Amazing food! The service was very kind and quick and the atmosphere was romantic. Only downside was the noise level. It was quite loud most of the time

Paul Beck

Had a fantastic dinner and wine. I sat at the bar by myself for dinner, and Earl took fantastic care of me. The selection of wine and food was great. Highly recommend

Liza Davies

Great selection of wines and cocktails. Friendly host and bartender, Elliott is real cool.

David Garay

The wine, food and atmosphere is well put together.

Pmils25

Oh this place was awesome also as a side note the front door is a pull and not a push... trust me, just pull. The food was great and the service was good. It did take a while to get through the door and find my reservation due to the receptionist not believing I was supposed to be there but other than that everything was great.

John Green

Absolutely an amazing experience! I came in to look at the wine list by the glass... and left with an experience. Great friendly staff with helpful suggestions. Both sides of me had locals that come regularly. Very nice comprehensive menu with incredible food with pairing suggestions. Open floor plan and not packed together. A++ rating

Lance Banks

Great food and ambiance! Cozy place in downtown Seattle.

Meredith Spacie

Good food and great wine served in a nice, airy space. Lots of choices for glasses of red, white, and rose, but very few for sparkling. The server staff are excellent with recommendations for food and wine. Portion sizes are moderate. Reservations are recommended.

David Abeshouse

Very good venue, food, & service. I'd happily return.

Ben Slivka

Great lunch spot. Super busy, great service, very large wine list with a few dozen very special wines.

Christina Irion

100% recommend the baked brie appetizer. I'm not big on seafood, so I got the mac & cheese sans lobster, which had the just delicious breadcrumbs on it. I also tried the cheeseburger with fresh greens, which was absolutely perfect. Huge shout out to our bartender who helped us find the perfect wine, apps, entrees, & dessert to celebrate my birthday. He was so helpful & provided such next-level customer service, that would have been enough to make me return. The creme brulee pushed things over the edge & made me believe a future visit was needed. ...Seriously, get the baked brie appetizer.

Kari Farnham

Recommend!! Great wine list, love that many of the food items recommend wine pairings. Good food, good service. A few minor issues with our bill, we were a large group, but they were taken care of quickly and easily.

Catalina

Great food! Their lunch special is great when you're in a bit of a rush and not looking for a heavy meal. Our server was Collins and he was amazing, truly made us feel at home. Head ups though, they automatically charge a 20% service fee so you don't have to tip but that can bring up your check higher than you may have expected. Food and service were worth it though.

Grant Gallicano

The food was delicious and our service was terrible!! We almost walked out twice .. staying because we were hungry and the food tasted good. I am guessing our server was having an off day - at least I hope he isn't always serving in this fashion. With so many restaurants in Seattle, we will not be coming back to find out.

Ben Bauer

"You get what you pay for". This place isn't cheap, but also not unreasonable. The food is very high quality and the drink selection is amazing....check out the wine tower in the middle of the place! Fancy lunch, date night...

Antonio Villa de Rey

We thoroughly enjoyed everything. It’s a touch pricey, but the food is well worth it and the selection of wine is diverse and well curated. Given the selection of food, I think of it more as a restaurant than a wine bar

Sara Godinez

We came here for a team lunch and the food was amazing! Our waiter was funny and attentive, even taking time to answer questions about the restaurant's history. I had the Moroccan chicken bowl and the chicken was melt in your mouth tender, the pomegranate molasses reduction was extremely tasty, and the flavors just melted together so well. I also had their hot earl grey tea which was served as loose leaf at the table. Really worth the stop :)

Connor Doyle

Elegant dining room and upstairs space that is always pleasant to sip wine in. Cocktails are also quite lovely. I enjoy the French 75. For a plant-focused meal, the roasted vegetable & puy lentil dish is flavorful and satisfying.

G. Blake Meike

Purple is an amazing place to go to try a new wine or two. Yes, you can get all your old favorites, but that's not the point, is it? Try something you've never tried before! Take a chance! Take the bartender's advice! Go for it!

Dar Hopkins

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great location. Who could ask for anything more?

kathryn gruber

Food was delicious and service was exceptional, only thing is it's TINY portions for the lunch combo. It's literally a finger sandwich and a tiny bowl of salad. Definitely not worth $13, but delvious so given four stars.

Haroon Chaudhry

From the moment we walked in we were welcome with excellent service and a smile. From the Host to the GM we had an excellent experience. Our wonderful host Andrew was very detailed and fun in explaining the background stories on the wines we chose, ee made it very fun and enjoyed our visit and will be back to frequent our new favorite place in Seattle. Coming from a Chicago we appreciate the service and product.

Joseph Nooraga

Food and wine are beyond excellent. Service, unfortunately, isn't consistent. Multiple visits wondering where our server wandered off to. Still highly recommend!

Glenn K

Loved this place! Great wine selection by the glass with mostly old world and Washington wines. Food was excellent and happy hour has some great deals.

Kristina Boyle

american food and the atmosphere at this place is great. Cool place to meet and catch up with coworkers. Looking forward to returning with my relatives.

Gene Moss

The charcuterie and cheese was excellent. Wine list is very extensive.

Kirk Chantraine

Reliable downtown spot for wine, appies and usually a veggie main or two. Nice airy space with massive windows and high ceilings. Great happy hour deals.

Rory Litwin

Five stars, but if I could give a place six stars, I would give other places a six but not this one, if that makes any senes. It was excellent, but overall there was something about the experience that was less than stellar. I think I know what it was. Our server was just a little too formal, to the point of creating a slight awkwardness. The servers seem like they went to waiter school, and I know there is such a thing. They seem like they have training to work in high end restaurants. This place does an interesting thing in combining a formal level of service with casual street clothes. The servers look like they are wearing what they were wearing before they came to work. So it's an interesting mix of casual and formal. The space is very big and nicely designed. A really big room with high ceilings, which is not what the word "cafe" suggests. The wine list is very interesting and has a feel about it of being personally curated, with no intention of being comprehensive. There is a partial emphasis on local wines. The food is pretty much top notch. If a foodie has complaints they should back off on their hobby. The noise level with a bit up there but conversation was not difficult. I would go again.

Ryan Carlson

I ordered the king salmon and recommended pairing with the beef tartare to start. No complaints across the board, execution was consistent and flavors vibrant. The details matter when ordering a $38 entree and Purple delivers.

Ionica Hanson

Incredible lunch menu and awesome service.

J Alvarez

This place is Amazing and the staff is phenominal...Lobster ac and cheese was to die for and the wines and beer such a variety to choose from!!!

James Aguero

Had the three course meal for $35. Great deal. Service was excellent.

Gabriel Golden

The atmosphere was great. They have a great wine list and a very high value wine flight list. The service was great even though we had our 3 year-old with us. We will definitely be returning!

Thomas Crown

Great spot fantastic food and service was wonderful!

Raghavendra Bommaraju

Lovely ambience. Good date place. Limited but very tasty food options. Lots of good wines here. I have been here many times and it was good almost every time. But the last time I was there the food wasn't up to the mark. That was a little disappointing.

Monica Palochik

Love this place. So many wine choice! Love that they have a description for all their wine by the glass choice and if you order food they give you wine suggestions for each item! The place is so cool with the wine being from and center. We had their wine flights and a couple of appetizers. The dates stuffed with gorgonzola was amazing! Next time we are in Seattle we are going to Purple first and often.

Allen Tucker

Great ambience with an incredible selection of wine. They have preselected flights on their menu which is a fantastic idea.I got the 'popularity contest' and wasn't disappointed. The basil pesto pasta and the calamari was on point. A bit on the pricy side, but I actually like that they include the gratuity as a 20% service fee. Glad they are taking care of their employees. Good on them.

Travis Hillman

Great tasting selection of American food and delicious wine. Highly recommended place to have a great meal.

Alex

Visited for dinner and left happy. I loved the cozy interior with a vine stairwell and heavy doors. Our server was awesome and the food was excellent. Really the best lobster mac and cheese I had so far. Lots and lots of lobster. Desserts were also great. It’s a bit on a pricier side but it’s worth it. Great experience and we would definitely come again.

Montgomery Standefer

The interior had a subdued, modern-chic feel. There was a winding circular cabinet in the middle, with seating on the ground floor, as well as upstairs. My friend and I asked to be seated upstairs, instead of on the ground floor. Some of the seating areas upstairs seemed like study desks, which is why we requested to sit in another section. They have an entire BOOK of drink options. If you're looking for a place to go with a variety of wines from different locations, Purple is a good place to go. The descriptions inside were also quite witty.

Gabrielle Sivage

Their lobster Mac and Cheese is amazing. I wish I liked more on their menu, or it changed more, and I think when a place like this does pizza you often get a stilted mix of food when you're not anticipating a pizza place. That said, I've never had a bad meal here and even had a fab post work gathering with over 10 people and everything, including the service, was good. It's not the warmest or friendliest place, but it's still a winner.

Kate Hatlak

This place has a great atmosphere, including a giant wine tower in the middle of it. Food is good, not outstanding, but you're really coming for the wine. The wine menu is a book unto itself, with bottles, glasses and flights of all kinds. Servers are also knowledgeable and helpful if you have questions. It can get pricey but that's downtown Seattle for you.

robert dodds

We came here for dinner last August. We had a private area upstairs. The service and food were excellent. I am not a big wine drinker but the wine they chose to serve us was really tasty and subtle.

Timothy Jackson

Great ambiance and solid food

ranu singh

The Baked Brie is fantastic!! The vegan burger was good, not great. The pesto pasta was average at best. Ambience is very pleasing. And the extensive wine selection doesn't hurt.

Iryna Lahoda

Not bad, a bit pricey. My lunch was delicious.

Eli Levinson

My son recommended the place he lives in Seattle. I asked for a table to wait for him. The greater started a full blown inquisition; 1. Do you have a reservation? 2. How long you will occupy the table. Etc. Etc Very condescending, very rude. She was confused , I did not ask her on date, I wanted to have an obscene expensive drink, and some food. Restaurant is the most competitive business. Takes many years to establish and build good will. She should be terminated ASAP takes only one bad apple to ruin a shipment . She plays the "offended card" because she is young and inexperienced . Take your money to a different place.

Nick Rains

Amazing wine selection and pretty damn good burger too!!! Great ambiance!

Morgan Jahnke

We always come back here when we're visiting Seattle! They have great food, a fantastic atmosphere, and always nice servers. My Moroccan chicken dish was so good, and the bread pudding is great!

Nabie

It is a really nice wine bar. I been there several times and I keep going back. Nothing more to say!

emily p

Came here for a birthday dinner. Excellent food and pretty decent prices for downtown Seattle. Ordered appetizers: dates, beef tar tar, baked Brie, and chicken pate. Food ordered: lobster Mac & cheese, rib eye steak, kale Caesar, prosciutto pizza, and the short rib. Some of the best old fashions in town and a 122 page drink menu.

Jen H.

Great service. Chill upscale feel. Parking lot underneath building for $7 (with validated ticket). Pretty good house-made chocolate sea salt caramel candies. Crab cakes and Pesto pasta lacked flavor. Surprisingly delicious roasted cauliflower appetizer.

Alex de Haydu

Good, hip place to go with clients. Food was great, service was great, but wood chairs that are not comfortable.

Jess Stevens

Always a delightful experience. Great vegetarian options. Perfect for group dining or business lunches as staff is efficient and helpful. Always love the food.

Nate Murillo-Oaks

Great wine flights. Food is good. Service is very pleasant.

ravinder singh

Great wine with steak feel the food taste with great customers service ✌

Susan Benson

We had a great birthday dinner for four. It was a little noisy because of a neighboring table of louder patrons but our server Jessi was fantastic, she was knowledgeable and attentive without hovering. We had good drinks and wine and great appetizers (roasted cauliflower and fried cheese curds)and the entrees (basil pesto with chicken, chopped salad with steak -- the french dip with bone marrow butter and bone broth au jus was outstanding, and the short ribs kharcho was one of the best dishes I have had in a restaurant in years. I would go there again just for that. Jessie brought us dessert (crème brûlée and grilled pound cake with fruit -- it was great) with complimentary dessert wines for the birthday girls and a dish of their excellent sea salt caramels. We really celebrated and will definitely be returning.

Andrew Glass

Beautiful interior. Love the wine flights. Good service

Mohit Bhushan

Eclectic wine bar with a large selection for vino lovers. Short and carefully-curated food menu with wine pairings. Service was superb. Ambience is very nice for lunch or dinner. Nice place to dine in style for business or leisure.

Michael Iannantuoni

8/10 perfect for the grille cauliflower which was a cauliflower head quartered dipped on the grill for 2 seconds and thrown on the plate. It tasted like a wet paper towel.

High Angle

Great food, atmosphere and service! C.T. (Craig Thomas) helped us pick out a fabulous wine to pair with our dinner. Highly recommend checking it out.

zoe ting

Prefer this one over the Bellevue location, sorry. A better wine selection and friendlier service, period.

Elizabeth Prout

Many meals,we're great even delicious for our party of six, but not the chicken salad.

Kelly Kim

Great service, great wine selection, great foods!!

Eleni .

Had a great dinner here, we were seated a little bit after our reservation, the entrance was packed. Waitress was very helpful, asked if we had to be somewhere and kept a note to make sure everything came out on time for us! Great atmosphere and food was delicious.

Michelle Vaughan

We had a wonderful dinner for our anniversary. Great bottle of wine too. The service was excellent, attentive but not obnoxious. We had a delightful evening! We will definitely be back.

Rebecca Hogan

I love this wine bar! Great food, wonderful wine flights to explore. The Seattle location is in the perfect tourist spot to take in a walk and drop in for a delightful meal. The central wine storage room is gorgeous.

Delia Homer

The enforced 20% gratuity offers very little incentive to provide good or any service. The staff were anything but attentive, were disengaged, and service appeared to be secondary to socializing amongst themselves. Even sitting at the bar top it was difficult to get a drink and waited for 10-15 mins before being acknowledged. Simple cutlery and dish wear was forgotten for the little food that was ordered. For marginal food and service, it was over priced and over rated. If you’re looking for good service and quality food, turn elsewhere. This reviewer will not be returning.

Christoph Erben

Stylish iron clad interior with a central wine tower. Best to go here for drinks with some food on the side. We actually had some problems with the food, but the staff really tried to correct it, so 5 stars.

Gaby Murphy

On a short break to Seattle we were directed to Purple and went along to give it a try. Very glad we did..... everything about the place is great. Fantastic service from Sean was the start of a memorable experience. Striking decor with real attention to detail is what Purple is all about. Huge and varied wine selection....chose a full bodied Georgian red which was delicious and a real bargain!! Food was fantastic and my carnivore husband broke the rule of a lifetime and chose the Impossible Burger.....a vegan offering! It was really good and an unlikely convert has been won. My pizza was excellent.....great dough and delicious fresh toppings. Cannot recommend this place more highly and I am looking forward to returning on my next trip to the city.

Daniel Hall

Mildly over priced, but the food is pretty good. Our reservation was ready slightly after our check in time (table for 10, so slightly understandable). Service is decent, the check-in folks had smiles, but the servers did not. The food arrived promptly and hot... Definitely a plus. The menu isn't large, just 2 pages, but what they serve is again, pretty good. If you're on a date, be prepared to spend at least $100. Lobster Mac and cheese is $30 alone and I believe the NY steak is $39. The duck is also $30 and the Bucatini as is on the cheap side at $24. Oh, and they have a LOT of wine. A lot. Service - 3 Price - 2 Food - 4 Comfort - 4 I'd recommend at least trying this once. The wine rack is something to behold. I hear there's a secret entrance, but I obviously can't verify that.

Ian Christman

Great food. Wine selection. Atmosphere was fantastic. Service was great.

Carl Siegrist

Had a very nice dinner with wine. Definitely adding this place into our Seattle dining rotation.

hope wheeler

The food was good but the service and prices were bad. My boyfriend and I had reservations and still waited about 5 minutes to be seated, no big deal. We probably waited 15 or 20 minutes to get our food. My boyfriend ordered the lobster mac and cheese and I the Cartesian pizza. The check included an automatic service charge of 20% and our bill was about $90. What really makes this review two stars is when the server came back we thought she was going to box our food and instead grabbed our plates and threw the food away without asking. On a bill that big with automatic gratuity we were stunned, will not be going back.

Joe Salemi

Wine selection is off the charts and the food is excellent. We started with the roasted cauliflower, it was amazing.

Matthew Jacob

Jillian provided us with an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE! She was conversational and genuine. Great service. Personal recommendations and the FOOD! WOW! You HAVE TO VISIT PURPLE if you come to Seattle! Thank you Purple for a dining memory that we will never forget! Thank you Jillian for going above and beyond!

Margaret Harmon

Amazing place with a wide variety of wine. good ambiance and great crowd. i just loved this place. must visit this place with your partner or friends. you are definately going to love this place.

Christian Vargas

The vibe here is amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable of the wines offered and was extremely helpful when helping us choose our wine flights. Also the food was good (I had the pesto pasta with chicken), but I think the atmosphere is what makes this place. Great spot for dates or to relax and have a nice glass of wine. Would recommend to people visiting Seattle.

Anne Marie Skancke Nyquist

I've been here twice now, first time for dinner several years ago and for snacks and wine today. Food and service is excellent. The crab cakes are especially delicious.

Jacob Schmitt

We were traveling with another couple and were actully looking for another wine bar and couldn't find parking. This was second on my list so we went in. We didn't have a reservation and it was the beginning of dinner time but they sat us anyway. The waitress we had was so nice and very knowledgeable and entertaining. They had a wonderful of different kinds of selections of wine flights. We each loved the ones she recommende for us after inquiring about our tastes. We went looking to purchse some of the wines. I would love for the wineries to be 1/2 as wonderful as this wine bar. We have freinds that live in the area and they will be bringing their friend here. We didn't eat, but the menu and the food they were serving looked wonderful and we will definitely make a reservaton and spend time her on our next trip to Seattle. There is only one down side to this place. The front door is so heavy it took more than one of us to open it. Part of the adventure!

LoveLaugh Leslie

Fantastic for carnivores to vegans and anyone in between. The food is delicious!

Matthew Castle

Great ambience (dark, romantic). Tower of wine is the visual showcase. I enjoyed their cauliflower starter (perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned) and the recommended wine pairing. Service charge included. Good date spot. $$$

Reuben Strydom

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere.

Annaka Shewchuk

Came here on a Saturday date night for appetizers and wine flights at the bar. We were seated pretty quickly, but I’m sure wait could be a lot longer for a table, as the place was pretty packed. The atmosphere was great, and acoustics were designed so the place didn’t get overly loud or echoey despite the huge open space. Our bartender/server was super great. He took our orders pretty quickly and was attentive despite being responsible for a full bar section. While setting out our flights and food, he accidentally knocked over my glass of water, which poured onto my lab. He was super apologetic and got help and supplies to get me dried up really quickly. I was having a good evening, and wore a dress that dried quickly so it wasn’t upsetting and we continued to have a wonderful evening. At the end of the meal our server ended up comping BOTH wine flights and 2 boxes of caramels, after we had ordered only 1 to go. It was such a nice surprise and so sweet of him to do. The food and wine at Purple are always great, and kindness and service were beyond expectations. It was a great night and we both had a wonderful time. We plan to come back to this location with friends and on other occasions.

Cameron Knox

Great dessert!!! I had both the pound cake and the creme brulee. The lunch combo was also good for the price point.

Matt Kennedy

Food and drinks are pretty good, just better hope you aren't sitting next to cute girls or the waiters/bartenders will entirely forget about you and what you orderd after all their endless chatting. Not a great look. And apparently they'll charge you a mandatory 20% "tip" whether the service was great or awful.

Brandon Jernigan

Terrible service. Of course they force the service charge, so the servers don’t have a reason to be attentive. After we received our food, without complete silverware, we weren’t checked on a single time. $200 for this? Lol.

Felicity Blake

Good selection of drinks.Everyone is very polite and helpful whenever I visit.Wonderful cafe and wine bar.

Jannette Bailey

I love the ambiance. It's upscale and trendy. The menu has many unique, tasty and healthy options. I definitely list Purple Cafe as a frequent go-to hot spot!

Levi Widdison

Earl the bartender had great recommendations and was super nice and personable. If it werent downtown Seattle I would definitely go back. Restaurant was great, Seattle needs to clean up the streets

Jennie Burns

Perfect spot across from Fairmont for a glass of local wine and appetizers after busy day before heading out for a meal. Great stair of wine bottles, nice atmosphere for conversation. Staff very helpful. It’s been a good 5 years since we have been to Purple, and am so happy it is just as good as last time. I will say that we really missed seeing caviar on the menu, but were happy to enjoy the stuffed dates again. They also have a tomato soup on the menu that I can’t help but mention—- it was so good!

Joshua Miller

The food here is always good, but never seems to step up beyond that. It doesn't seem interested in reaching what could be a better experience. The food, experience, and drinks always sit in a nothing to write home about category. This might be why it stays relatively empty most afternoons, or it could be the just too a bit too high prices. Skip, heavy restaurant group has much better experiences out there more deserving of your time.

Dan Hanks

Not happy with the prices or tipping policy but a beautiful venue.

Dale Newman-Gallardo

bartender helped us on choices of wine and the service was outstanding

Hailey Bohlman

Amazing service, amazing food, and obviously spectacular wine. The prices are super affordable, but they take care of you like you're in a high end restaurant. It's the perfect date night spot. Also, don't be afraid to ask for a wine recommendation, the somollier that helped us was incredibly friendly and approachable. Found us a great bottle that is a new favorite of my fiance's!

Patrick Conlan

Great wine selection, cocktails and small and large plates. Buzzes at night with theatre and symphony crowd. Would give it a five star review but the door staff seem to think they are at Studio 54 and that kind of attitude doesn't work in Seattle.

Matthew Baxter

Purple Cafe and Wine Bar has pretty high price but definitely also high quality in food and service, various small dishes served tapas style that were amazingly yummy, smart staff, huge selection of wine and a great locale for people watching.

Chris Davidson

The service was good and the wine was legit but the food was not

Jaimie Hughes

The food was mediocre at best. The service was awful. There is a mandatory 20% tip added to bills, they never tell you about it or circle it on the bill, it's just apparently written in small print on the bottom of the menu. That's stealing and that would never fly at any restaurant I've worked at or dined at. When I brought that up to a manager she shrugged her shoulders and said oh well. Seattle has some amazing places to dine, this one is definitely not worth it, save your money for somewhere better.

Dennis Odell

Ate there for lunch. Great service. The Purple salad was wonderful.

Emily B

I had the lobster mac n cheese and a chardonnay wine flight. Food and drinks were delicious and I would definitely recommend them even though they are on the higher end. The service was okay. I ate at the bar and the waiters/bartenders came only when needed. They didnt make any recommendations nor did they follow up as often as they should have.

marian gordon

Pretty restaurant and drink area. Interesting menu and good food. Very nice wait staff.

Sam B

Jessi was stellar! Great customer service and amazing recommendations for wine and dessert. Can’t wait to go back!

Curtis Nelson

Loudest restaurant in the city of Seattle. I mean this place is LOUD. Very good food. Expensive. A bit too hipster for me but that might be just right for you.

Steve Sampson

Always good food. Great wine selection. I will go back again.

Gary Samson

Don't be fooled by the unfortunate name. Purple Cafe is an upscale, full service restaurant that has good food, a full bar and a fantastic wine selection. This location is perfectly located near mass transit options including light rail. Parking is atrocious in Seattle. During lunch or dinner hours it is best to have a reservation as Purple is very popular and wait times long. Service is generally spot on and fast but not too fast. Prices are mid-range with most entrees I have had priced around $20. The lobster Mac and house burger are my favorites but there are a wide range of options including the impossible burger for herbivoirs. The environment is industrial trendy, cold, cavernous and usually very, very loud. Not a great place for good conversation or an intimate meal but the bar is pretty cool and lively.

Catherine Noble

Great food and atmosphere. Good for date night or with a group.

Dennis Matthijssen

trendy Palace to go to when in Seattle! Enjoyed an nice watermelon soda

Ries Stam

Was here for the first time to celebrate a birthday. The setting is nice and I like the concept. However, the food isn't the best and the service was just ok, nothing memorable. First off, they already run out of Filet Mignon among other things around 7.30PM. That's just bad. The chicken sliders wasn't anything special, it was even a bit overfried. The pizza was a bit too salty and when the best part of it is the crust, I think they really went the wrong way. I skipped dessert and went for a coffee. Also not very good, it was 'mweh'. I could have lived with all of this, if they didn't add a service fee of 20% (!) to the check. Yes, the explain why they do it (primarily benefits for their employees, if that's really true), but if you're not presenting a better experience than that's just a scam in my opinion.

Bryan-Earl Kinchen

Second visit to Purple Cafe and it was such a treat. I took out of town guests there on their first evening in Seattle. Our favorite dish presentation was the Baked Brie plus it was absolutely delicious! My entree - Main Lobster with Mac & Cheese - was also really good! Bottom line: Highly recommend Purple Cafe

Richard Sales

This is a great place to go to for dinner most of their dishes do include meat. But the service is great. They have a big selection of wine, and foods. My whole family loves the food. The place is well decorated and has a unique cool design. I liked it!

Yvonne Simpson

If you love wine, this is your place in downtown Seattle! Their wine menu is a rather thick binder and their wait staff is very knowledgeable. Now, I don't drink wine, but I do love their food which is pretty seasonal. There is a nice variety of dishes, including options that aren't too pricey. I like to take out-of-town guests, especially wine connoisseurs.

Mindy Mahler

In town for a USC Football game and made this a pregame stop. The food was excellent with great decor having the staircase as the centerpiece. If you are traveling with people where noise is a factor this may not be for you. It has high ceilings and was very loud. Interesting menu with choices for most. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting or live in Seattle.

Jonas Emil Jakobsen

Like many other wine bars, but kind of cold decorated and the ac were way to cold.

Joshua Roddy

Great food! Recommend sitting at the top bar, it's an awesome view.

Kalem Fredrick

This place was fantastic! Had a large group dinner here, and the service was amazing. The service was amazing, as was the food. The whole place was very accommodating. Overall, I highly recommend.

Annemarie Crivelli

I can’t say enough good things. The food is incredible. The ambience and staff are great as well. Come here...you won’t be disappointed.

Nicole Reposa

Wonderful cafe and wine bar... such a fabulous idea of a restaurant. I love it! The service is incredible and their menu is delightful! I love to stop by here at anytime of the day.

Yizu Lulu Yeh

Delicious lunch during the peak time but having a hard time to hear conversation due to the noise level. Excellent service

We love Purple! We were only here for desserts, this time, but it's our favorite place when in Seattle. Great wine pairings. I love everything about this place!

Bryanne Hill

Went here with a friend for dinner and we loved ever minute of our meal. The food was delicious, the flight of wine was delightful, and the dessert and accompanying dessert wine was delectable. At no point did we feel rushed out of our table and our waiter was the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely be back!

Good food and wine. We revisited after a number of years and liked it all over again. The Happy hour is a good way to end your work day or begin a fun night. The wines by the glass are top notch and the food is good also.

Doreen Reeh

Good food nice service, prices for drinks and food too high.

I've eaten here many times since I moved to Seattle, mostly whenever I am trying to feel a little fancy. It can be as cheap or as expensive as you'd like, great apps, wine for every budget. The service I've gotten here always goes above and beyond to be helpful, and the food is fantastic. Whatever your entree is you have to get the baked brie, it's amazing. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful, insanely high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, and a spiral wine filled staircase in the middle.

This place is AMAZING! Nice, pleasant, a place of a date or with a few friends. Prices are just right for this place. It's not formal which I love although you can be. I definitely recommend if you're out in the city and you want a quick bite or if you want to sit and hang out and eat. I recommend the brie if you like that, grilled cauliflower you must try, if you like (or love goat cheese) go with the goat cheese and sourdough bread, if you like blue cheese (I'm not a fan but it was good) the dates, crab cakes and the pasta was all super delicious. This is what I recommend if you're coming in for wine and snacking instead of meals, if you want a meal try the pasta. Please let me know what you think or what you recommend!

Feel good with interior and food options. I love to be there.

Michele McLaughlin

Amazing wine, food and service. 5 stars all the way!

It's all about the veggie hash with the egg and optional shrimp or chicken. I get it everytime I go. Unfortunately I can't eat the lentils (digestive issues), but they will serve without it.

Lance Long

Food and wine are great but automatic 20% service charge (on top of 'competitive compensation') is tacky and a poor practise.

Austin Smith

Tasty food with an upscale-but-trendy ambience

If you want to feel fancy or just want a romantic date, I believe this place is the right spot. I came here for a girl friend's birthday. We showed up with a large group (about 20 of us), so the hostess arranged us to be in a private dining room. The service was good and organized. The waiter made sure that the bills would be separated and took down orders for drinks first before he would make his second round with food orders. I simply got the beef tenderloin (from appetizer menu), and it was enough to fill me up. Beef was very tasty and tender, so it lived up to its name! I would definitely recommend. Yes, you may park at Lincoln Square Parking, but don't be like me and not take a parking slip before you leave your car. I got lost for a good 20 minutes before my friend could help me locate the vehicle again.

Stopped in the Purple Cafe and Wine Bar for some food to soak up the day's wine tastings. Host was friendly, server greeted us promptly after seating and was very nice. I'm gluten intolerant and my friend and fellow diner is allergic to onions, so we always are high maintenance customers. After several attempts to serve her the entree she wanted, it was determined there was no way to make it onion free and close to what it should be, but the staff went above and beyond trying. We even got some tasty creme brulee since it was our other friend's birthday we were out celebrating. Great decor and nice atmosphere in the middle of Woodinville, would go back, especially if the weather is nicer so enjoy some of the outside tables.

Good food, fun atmosphere!

An awesome experience! We got the Baked Brie as an appetizer and it was amazing as usual. I had the special Brisket Mac and Cheese, which was even more incredible than their regular lobster mac, especially with the wine pairing. Our server was on her top game as well, as she paced our meal perfectly and brought our check out without us asking because she knew we were going to the symphony after dinner.

Purple Cafe and Wine Bar is an amazing place. I would definitely advise making reservations before you visit the restaurant. The entrance has a heavy iron door. Once you get inside the restaurant you get transported to a different world. The ambience is perfect. It gives you an upscale feeling. There is a huge tower of wine bottles in the middle of the restaurant, which I loved. The staff was very friendly. When we were confused about what wine to order, our server introduced us to the wine connoisseur. He discussed with us the various wines they had to offer and suggested us a couple of wines based on our likings. And I would say it was definitely spot on. We ordered grilled cauliflower, baked brie and GORGONZOLA FIG. I loved the baked brie and GORGONZOLA FIG. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The food is unique and has an amazing taste. It is definitely an expensive place but worth visiting at least once.

Great wine list... but service and food were ok. Not bad by any means but room for improvement.

Mike Koenig

20% service charge is not well earned. The bar staff were noticeably busy doing nothing, appeared to be stoned and as if moving through molasses, or talking amongst themselves rather than engaging or serving patrons. Although, when you were to get their attention, they had excellent wine knowledge and offered great suggestions. The purple door has amazing wine selection you can get lost in, great atmosphere you can enjoy your night in and staff that will keep their distance. With all the great alternatives in Seattle, I will not be returning to The Purple Cafe

Good service. Sweet crackers on the cheese plate were efficiently replaced with excellent baguette! Wonderful time.

Amanda Del Bove

Food and service were both incredible. Special shout out to the amazingly cooked asparagus appetizer and then again as a side that I substituted in with my steak! Definitely a fun place for a group, high ceilings so it is a bit louder but very fun environment

Delia Tafoya

A BEAUTIFUL environment. An amazing wine selection. Great food and friendly service. A must when in Seattle.

Walker Brooks

Excellent local chain. Food was prepared perfectly, and delicious. Staff was very attentive and fun.

Service was good, but slow on a busy night
