REVIEWS OF Garden Café IN Utah

Adam Christiansen

Been here twice for special occasions. Phenomenal! Lovely experience!

Denise Manriquez

My husband and i went for Sunday brunch. The Service was good, the food was good... but it was just that... good. I was expecting higher quality food & service due to the nature of the hotel-- the buffet tasted as if i were eating from a Mimi's breakfast menu.

Kerem Cantekin

Nice but a little too cozy for my taste.

Stacy Godnick

Really good! But kind of expensive.

Brycen Hale

Food was okay, but way too expensive.

Christopher G

How dare a business charge such prices for a buffet no better than Golden corral.

G. GIBBS

Honestly, probably two stars, which is so sad because they used to be so much better! Desserts are still great. Best bread pudding anywhere. The main dishes on the buffet however... not good. Duck, beef, fish and even the pork belly was not flavorful at all. The selection is small, but that was fine when it was great food. Now, it's barely cafeteria quality IMHO. Really not sure I'll be going back...☹

Ka'ryn S

Our waiter was really funny and his service was on point. The food was tasty especially the Cobb salad with shrimp, the clam chowder was fresh and filling.

Avril Tatum

Great breakfast

Leslie Hefner

Amazing! This is a wonderful upscale lunch buffet in the gorgeous Grand America Hotel. It's in a centrally located area of Salt Lake City. Valet parking is available. Forget any diet restrictions. The food choices are numerous and delicious. Be sure to save room for samples from the dessert bar and especially the bread pudding which is served with a devine sauce which boarders on sinful.

Dharmendra Kumar

Good ... Nice food with best service

JohnnyD6254

One star for dinner. Decent food but overpriced. We drank water and split an appetizer and got out for $85. Small portions. Maybe good for some but I'd rather have spent my money on a good solid steak for dinner. ******EDIT****** We went there for Sunday brunch and I'd give it 10+ stars for Sunday brunch. That is easily the best buffet anywhere in the state. I've only seen comparable food choices and quality in Vegas.

Silviane Perkins

One of the best places for breakfast in SLC, Utah !

Jason Dormady

Over the top pricing for mediocre food.

Nedzada Durakovic

No beter place

Hailey Snow

Brachetta is not fresh and the bread was burnt. The waiter made us feel awkward about us trying to let him know. The sause from my steak is the same as the brachetta. It tasted like it came out of a can or jar. The service was not good. The price for what we got was not worth it. We enjoyed our friends and company but I will not be eating here in the future.

Tania Saade

Excellent service, delicious food and wonderful ambiance. Had the eggs Benedict and lemon ricotta pancakes- both were decadent.

Kelly Spillane

Delicious fine food and great wine list. E client staff and service. A five star experience.

Daniel NaughtReal

Sunday brunch is amazing and different Everytime. The live band is superb, be sure to get a reservation.

Clarence Lund

Delicious and great service! The band makes it way fun

Sammy Wong

Great tea and dessert, music and atmosphere were excellent

KC Brown

The best salmon I have ever had, and the waiters don't bug you every ten seconds asking you how your doing. They give you privacy and don't put on a fake smile. If you need me to tell you that this place is expensive, then there is something wrong with you.

Michael Etheridge

Quite possibly the worst dinner entre I've ever had at any hotel. The "half chicken" was small, tasteless, tough. How do you mess up chicken? This is the second time I've tried this cafe. The first was a weekday breakfast buffet, it was so-so, nothing to write home about. The second and the last was this poor excuse for fine dining. I will never try this restaurant again!

Andrew P

The breakfast buffet at little America was closed for remodeling so we tried the buffet here. It was not nearly as good, but just as expensive.

John Perry

Great service and wonderful food

Tom Alpin

Beautiful

Paul Bornhutter

Great coffee and Macaroons...

Donna Brown

Beautiful environment and great presentation. Service was wonderful and the few vegetarian options were tasty!

Richard Terrell

Incredible service and food

Brooke Larsen

AMAZING and worth the money! Everything tasted so good I couldn't stop eating. I loved the prime rib and all of the sweets and pastries. I ate so many macarons! We will definitely be back!

Mark Wilkins

Elegant and delicious.

Steven Louie

Great service and food

Carleigh-Anne Anderson

I went to the breakfast buffet and I absolutely love the ambience! The service was some of the best I have ever had! Food was clean and fresh. A little pricey.

Makaela Jones

If there were more stars, I would give it to them. Came here for my honeymoon, and we traveled across the country to go back. The service is outstanding! They are incredibly attentive, polite and helpful. The food is out of this world. Everything is made to perfection, even the smallest piece of fruit is always perfectly ripe. You truly feel like royalty when you go. I cannot say thought great things about this place. It's an absolute must to go!

David

Stopped in for brunch. Great buffet with a wide variety of options. If you've never been, you'll be offered a tour. Take it. They mean a tour of the dining options and with everything spread out, it's very helpful. Tried a little bit of quite a few items and didn't find a single thing I didn't enjoy (the coffee-flavored dessert could have been a little stronger but was good). Was alone this time but did look for gluten-free options. It took a bit to find someone knowledgeable so if you are sensitive or a celiac, I recommend calling ahead of your visit. With that one exception, the staff was amazing.

Mark Gerken

A little pricey but worth it for the to notch food and service

Dennis Tramel, Jr.

Great food and service

So expensive but SO delicious. Great atmosphere

Came here on Valentine's day to celebrate a birthday for my mother-in-law. The setting is beautiful and we were seated quickly upon checking in for our reservation. There was some confusion on the menu as online I found a standard dinner menu, a Valentine's special menu, and also a pre fixe menu. I phoned to clarify and also check on a children's menu and vegetarian options. The customer service agent who answered was eager to be helpful but didn't have all the information. They didn't know where I found the pre fixe menu, but confirmed the availability of the regular menu and Valentine's specials. They also couldn't find the children's menu but confirmed they had one as well as the kitchen could accommodate vegetarian options. At dinner, only one thing across the two menus could be altered to confirm as vegetarian other than salads, we were quite disappointed. My mother-in-law choose the lobster ravioli from the Valentine's menu for herself and it came out with only two individual raviolis, so we requested the menu again for her partway through the meal so she could order a soup as well. For her birthday, they brought a single rose and beautiful presentation of two French macarons, so all was not lost. It was fun to do something nice for her but I think we will dine elsewhere next year.

I have eaten at Little America for over 40 years I liked tthe new hotel buffet for a change, but my last experience sucked! The server was snooty and he charged me $8 additional for a glass of juice I dress casual so my appearance may not match the decor but I usually tip well too last Friday I went back to the original hotel the buffet was outstanding and the server did not rip me off for a glass of juice she was cordial throught the meal and I gave her a 25% tip Garden Cafe can kiss my grits!

Mike Henfer

This place is normally great. The server was not around much and seemed to forget our requests. We asked for pepper, never received it. Had to ask for drink twice before it arrived. Received one cup of coffee, no refills.

Raemi Barnes

The food was delicious but not worth the money

Leslie Martin

Great!!! I will recommend it to my family and friends!

Katie Jones

Always a classy, refined excellent atmosphere with exceptional food.

Anya Taggart

We were there for Branch, celebrating my friend's birthday. Food is really good, atmosphere is amazing. But its a little bit expensive. Only for very special occasion. VERY VERY special occasion!

Jeff Jones

Thought that this would be a nice place to eat for a special valentine's day dinner. I could not have been more disappointed! We both went with the chefs special 4 course meal thinking if we are going fancy we better get the best on the menu. The appetizer was a tasty spaghetti ball which I liked except that it was still frozen in the middle, disappointing. The beet salad was almost inedible and only about the size of a dollar bill. It tasted fermented not even sure what was in it. The main dish, boneless short ribs was tasty and cooked well. But it was shockingly small, the most filling thing on the menu was definitely the spaghetti ball. The desert was cute, raspberry moose in the shape of a heart. Not bad but I was still hungry after my very small $70 meal so desert was hard to enjoy. The waitress never once asked if we liked our food, I think she new it sucked. Worst $140 meal ever

adam stedman

We had Sunday brunch as well as Christmas day brunch and the food and service was the very best.Ali met us and escorted us to our table each day.A real pleasure to see him.Hope he will return again.Al and Kathryn.

Bill steele

The Garden Cafe’s service was horrible. I’ve never been to a restaurant with such bad service. The waiter wouldn’t listen to our order and brought exactly what I told home not to. He then brought the unwanted item a second time to our table. My date and I looked at him as if it was a joke. I felt obligated to eat the same thing twice even though I told him not to bring it. The situation made my date and I feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. It was supposed to be a special night but the service was so bad that all we could do is joke about the experience. The food was not that great either. When I called to let the manager know of the problem, the operator wouldn’t let me talk to him. I felt like management didn’t care. I’ll never go there again.

Caryn Lennon

This place is nothing short of amazing.

Tyrell Neal

The food was awesome! I had the parmesan chicken sandwich! Service was great. The lunch was fourteen dollars. The buffet looked good, but was 25 for the lunch. Fries were good!

Arun Oberoi

nice garden cafe

Seth Kinniard

Best posh brunch ever! Special occasions spot for sure!

Jeremy Adamson

Pretty tasty food! The only thing is the portion size isn't that much and the price was really high. $28 for some salmon with nothing on the side besides a few decorative veggies.

Tracie Butler

It wasn't very good , cold soup. Shrimp was overcooked and the waitress took forever, which was odd, as we were 1 of 2 tables.

Yanna Traigo

I love over hire next week I will come there ☺☺☺

Mandy Rasmuson

Higher priced food, but very good. $10 for a bowl of French onion soup supper delicious. Great views.

Frank Kidd

I will be back with my coworkers. This place has an awesome atmosphere.

Gino Gopez

Located inside The Grand America Hotel, Garden Cafe is a pretty good place to eat. I came for brunch and there was a pretty good selection of food. Service was really good, they were really prompt with refills and taking plates away to clear the table. The ambiance is also really nice as well.

Douglas Romero

Park Cafe was such a quaint cafe filled with tons of hip locals in Salt Lake City! The place is adorable and makes everything from scratch including their mixed berry jam served on the tables. I enjoyed a huge plate of huevos mexicanos served with corn tortillas and salsa verde whole my fiancé had the kid buu which was a chicken breast sandwich with fried onions, cheddar cheese, bacon, and tons of bbq sauce. Their park potatoes were buttery and seasoned to perfection. There are tons of servers here dressed in their own fashion flair from piercings to ripped jeans and they are all super friendly and attentive. We had to wait a few minutes upon arrival on a weekend and you can even sit outside due to their innovative heating system. If you find yourself near Salt Lake City stop by this local favorite and bring your appetite!

Stephen Erekson

Great atmosphere! Food was a little disappointing compared to our past experiences We wondered if they changed the kitchen staff or the chef.

Debra Clark

Very disappointing. The international bar was good. But the Sea food bar was terrible! Paying for atmosphere.

Mike Smith

Fantastic Sunday brunch.

Max Gebhardt

Absolutely adorable. Went for the lunch buffet and was not disappointed. Try the goulash and the macaroons. They make a mean old fashioned too.

michael christensen

If you got the money this place is for you... high-end restaurant, high end food, my only knock is on the buffet, if you get there kind of late they don't restock the dessert bar LOL sincerely slim Pickens

kiley petersen

Nice buffet. Christmas windows are fun to look at. And the gingerbread house was quite impressive.

Alex Lee

Warm ambiance. Excellent service.

Bryton Max

This is exactly the type of place you would expect from The Grand America. Amazing food, great service, good atmosphere. All and all great experience!

VenomousStorm 914

So many options! We went for brunch last time. Omelets, waffles, carving station, desserts. Even had gluten free muffins.

Julian Ensign

The calamari was good but everything else was downhill from there. Chicken was tiny, bruschetta seemed from canned salsa instead of tomatoes. Calamari sauces were lemon garlic mayonnaise and canned meet (or seemingly so). Salads needed help.

Zaenab Shahab

Nice...the food is good,I like it

Judy Kiernan

We knew it would be expensive but we expected superior service and excellent food for the price. These expectations were not met. Meatball with lots of sauce appetizer delivered with no serving spoon. When a serving spoon was requested a teaspoon was delivered. Food was okay but nothing to write home about.

Corey allred

We were so excited to eat here but the buffet was $20 and cold, I wanted to have pb on my waffles so I asked 2 times and waited 30 min to eat my already cold food. We spent a lot of money and waited to be seated in an empty restaraunt and then forgotten about consistently. We were waiting on something the whole entire time. It took all morning to eat here.

Kristina Schramm

I simply inquired about a job position here. By calling the number given and then being transferred by very nice person to the Manager on at that time. This was at 5pm 10/2. I didn't get her name I would call her mean, She cut me off and said this is not the way things are done over the phone. I have worked for great cafes and restaurants in my day and I would never work for someone who is so mean to potential employees. Mean enough for me to say something about it. Sorry to complain here. I am sure your restaurant is very nice.

Rex S. Lott

Very good food

Michael Avakian

Really great

TomRSmith88

Nice little sitting area with music usually.

Keith Beitter

Great food and service.

Gina Perkins

Food was so delicious. I look forward to a return visit. The bill was fair I would say. Makes me feel like I am back in Tucson.

Chaundralyn R

As always, I enjoyed the food, from the custom omelets to the crab legs and chocolate desserts! It was the service this time that made our visit extra special. Our server was attentive, but she was also intuitive. Finding out that we were celebrating both a birthday and an anniversary, she arranged some surprises for us that made our day one that we will never forget!

MOTORCYCLE GARAGE

Great place, delicious breakfast!!!

Jamie Wong

I love this place! This visit didn't meet to its standards. Generally food and service are amazing. I wasn't won over with the antipasta station, deserts, side dishes or dry meats. Management will certainly listen to your suggestions.

Black Bart

Had the Lemon Riccotta pancakes, smothered in marscapone and blueberies, maple syrup on the side. Scrumptious! Where everyone knows your name. Par excellent!

Michael Mack

Great Breakfast

Rich Etheridge

good food. great staff.

Eric Petersen

I've been here a few times for breakfast and lunch. The food is always good and the service is the same.

Parrish Neville

Food on buffet was very good and fair priced for a high quality hotel restaurant.

McKenna Nyx

Went in for brunch. They were happy to take our money but failed to tell us the buffet was closing in 30 minutes so when we went for seconds it was all taken away. Total NOT worth the money! We got ripped off!!

Chrissy Ristow

Didn't eat here! So expensive

Gosh every time I come here, it's more and more disappointing. The great thing is they take reservations, phone, online. They problem with that is they don't look at the reservation. I had a party of 10. When you do the online reservation you can put how many infants, kids and adults you will have. I put I needed two high chairs. They didn't have them at my table. The servers took forever to come around asking for our drinks. I guess it must of been a while but they charged use for juices. $5 bucks a pop, they also forgot to tell us they charge on refills. So when our server kept forgetting about our juice refills. Looking back she should have been on it. But I had to remind her 3 times about my juice. We did the brunch and it was ok, the omelets and potatoes were amazing. But everything else was not good at all. The food tastes like it's been out. They have managers looking like they are checking the food to make sure it's stocked, but I had to remind them they were out of pancakes. My friend had to remind them they were out of salsa. Even when she told the omelet man they were out of salsa she asked when they would get more, he said ok. My friend came back to the table and my cousin had salsa and she asked her where she got the salsa, she told her there was another omelet bar. Something I feel like the man could of told her. The front desk staff was nice. The servers are the worst. The bus boys are great. The food is eh. $35 per person $12 mimosa $5 per juice Total for two people was $117 plus an 18% gratuity was added because we were a party of 10. Our server got about $50 bucks from our table, which again I would have had no problem paying it. If the server was on it. But I felt it was extremely high for the really bad service we got.

Megan Donio

Simple dining in luxury hotel. Similar options to room service, so we often opted for room service.

Sergui Swanson

If you love a place where they treat you like you're family than you'll love this place. The food is always really good and the vibe is great (and busy).

John Parslow

Breakfast was fantastic, fruit was fresh and the coffee was full bodied and aromatic.

Samrat Sondhi

The brunch is ok. A lot of food. But most is just average.

C trujillo

The service is the best. Patricia is very atrentive.

Kumiko Kitagawa

I would say no to this place. Limited option in breakfast

Hugo Centurion

Excelente lugar. Very nice place!

Katelin Wadsworth

Food is pretty good. And service is great! Great atmosphere!

Candice Schacht

Jeff Gunn

The food was very good. Everything at this hotel is great.

Riley Alexander

We have been coming here for quite a while and absolutely love it! The staff is amazing and it doesn't matter if you go during the week or for Sunday brunch the food is terrific! We highly recommend that you try the Garden Cafe at least once even if you are not staying at the Grand. And just as a side note, we have stayed at most of the 4-5 star hotels in the area and nothing comes close to the comfort and service that you get from the Grand and anything that they offer.

Ima Polamalu

Amazing place! Worth every penny.

Brandon Riley

Terrible service. Saw waiter twice in 90 minutes. Just terrible.

Mitch Anderson

Not only is this place overpriced, but the food portions were tiny, tiny, and we thought they'd come from the frozen section of Costco. The salad was a few walnuts, lettuce and a couple beers. The Gnocchi was what appeared like it came from the frozen section of Costco. The prime rib was good but the sides were not good and not worth the price. The environment also did not justify the price. It is sad, because the Grand America Hotel is amazing!!! But the restaurant needs a major upgrade to retain clients and help them feel the price is justified for the experience and stay.

Amazing miso salmon. Lobster pot pie was also great. Good selection of creative mixed drinks. Unfortunately they use watery Chilean pisco instead of Peruvian pisco. Queens Bees Knees cocktail was great. Cranberry nut bread was very good.

Lucy Monson

Very eclectic, nice selection of pastries and breads. Nice pancakes! Delicious orange juice! Brunch is on Sundays! It has an amazing wide range of selection. Great for Mother's Day or any other celebration!

B Nasty

High quality menu combined with excellent service.

Travis Christensen

We stayed at the Grand for our last getaway before our first baby is born. We had the most amazing experience. We visited the spa and enjoyed walking all around seeing the Christmas decor. The best part of the experience was during Sunday brunch at the Garden Cafe. While there, the Maitre D came around and greeted us. After telling him we are expecting he returned a short time later with wrapped macaroons for my wife and a brand new stuffed animal from the gift shop for our coming baby. This was true service that made the whole getaway better than any other location. Plus the brunch was the best we have ever had!

Clark Stegner

Good place to eat. But prices are expensive. Hotel very beautifully designed.

Elizabeth Bryan

Really good service and food in this restaurant.

Steven Priovolos

Buffet for lunch is yummy, but a bit spendy. Still, a first rate place, and a great meal. Nice place to take someone for business lunch. Only complaint is the "background" music is too loud, and when I asked for it to be turned down, I was told no.....

E Christensen

Our favorite breakfast/ brunch spot, however, dinner leaves much to be desired, undercooked meat and crunchy potatoes

We went to the Saturday Lunch in the Garden Cafe for our 57th Anniversary on 2/16/19. Lunch was from 11:00-2:00. We arrived at 12:45 thinking that would be plenty of time to eat. We were surprised to find many of the food items were empty--no dinner rolls, pasta and potato salads were almost gone. We asked for more, it took about 10 minutes to get them from the back kitchen. The dinner entries were chicken, salmon and rib eye steak. There were only 2 small pieces of salmon left and they were cold and appeared "picked over." There was a LOT of steak left so we had steak. Alas, it was so tough it was almost inedible! When we went back to the dessert table, the fancy-frosted cake was all gone. By then it was 1:15. I asked the server behind the counter if there was any more cake. She responded that it was all gone. I replied, I don't understand, it is only 1:15? She then said, "I'll see what I can do." After we were eating what little "finger food" desserts which were left, she came out with a "complimentary" chocolate cheesecake served with a very fancy presentation. That was nice, but not what we wanted. After we had taken our "anniversary" selfies, and after we had settled our check, as we were getting ready to leave, a kitchen helper caught us and stated, "We have some chocolate cake now, did you ask for some? I said, yes, 30 minutes ago." I'm giving this a 2 star, but only based on the ambience of the place. The food was definitely a 1+. For a 5-Star hotel, the dining leaves something to be desired. Beware! We will NOT go back again. Sad, for a nice (and pricey) place to be so lame.

Juan Ma Sorti

Elegant, delicious food, nice service!

Cory Vore

Everything under one roof. Sushi to crepes to eggs florentine, all you can eat and made to order. Loved it.

Excellent Sunday brunch! The selection is HUGE. Great service, wonderful band playing live music!

Shawn Peterson

food was OK but not worth the price

Shaden Mohamed

Excellent on all fronts (decor a bit dated). The new english waitress was a seasoned professional - the restaurant is lucky to have her. Especially since the hostess was very cold, almost seated me at the worst table! Glad the rest of the evening was great. Had mussels as a starter - tad on the salty side. But good helping and nice flavours. Swordfish was brilliant.

Della Kurtz

Fun bar in the Mission where they name their drinks after different airports all over the world and have a simple layout of the airport on their menus as well.

Taylor Stack

Beautiful decor. I'm originally from the East Coast so to find such a amazing French onion soup is a real treat. The whole team was so friendly and accommodating because I was in such a rush! Thank you to Francisco

Will Herold

Sunday is brunch only!!

LeSean Lewis

Extremely expensive and not filling. I appreciate the art of food. Yet, there should be a balance in art and taste. Example.....the ceasar salad is "grilled for a few moments." This creates the salad leafs to taste burnt and are warm. Nothing I had was tasty except the dessert in which it is hard to tarnish chocolate.

Jonathan Niedfeldt

Wonderful experience, short notice 16 person dinner dinner, gave us a private location and great service!

Gary Bauer

Waited an hour for an $18.00 chopped salad. The salad was made with shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes. It looked like they raided the line at a subway. The ranch was pretty much water. The lettuce was wilted. Had to ask for a coffee refill. Lousy service, lousy food.

Justin Branch

Great place for a nice lunch

Landon Langford

Loved our experience here. I ordered the Chiefs special (4 course meal, $55). The portions were a little small, but the food was delicious. Extremely well balanced flavors. Great presentation. Best dessert I have ever eaten. Staff was very kind, helpful, and had a good pace (not too much waiting).

Mark Greer

Fancy digs, but food is bland, conventional, little flavor or "tasty"-character... Better dress up too... I leave feeling so-so...

Ali

Beautiful resturant and view from our table, service was friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are quite high, food is delicious but smaller portions. Ive been there for dinner and lunch both were good. My boyfroend had the lunch buffet and he said it was a great spread.

Rob Caron

Awful service starting with the hostess making me wait for 10 minutes to get a seat even though the place was empty, then the waitress that never checked in and then dumped the check without even asking if I was done it needed anything else. On top of all that, the food is mediocre at best and extremely expensive. They have a captive customer base and they treat you like it.

S Haddock

Great food!! Will visit again when in slc!!

Bill Buhler

I love taking my wife here for brunch in special occasions. Try the buffet, you won't be disappointed!
