Stopped by on our way home. Parking was super easy, not was I was expecting. Per usual a coffee shop most people had headphones on or working on laptops. My wife and I were greeted by a nice gentleman who patiently waited for me to choose my drink. Quickly poured and gave me my cold brew, which was really good, and we took a few pictures and then took off. Simple and quick.
Great coffee.
Just walking into the shop is a treat. The welcoming warm smell of freshly brewed coffee is like aroma therapy. Staff is friendly and attentive.
I am a hard-core coffee geek. I have a high-end coffee bar in my home and I roast my own beans. Local Coffee is one of the most highly rated coffee shops in San Antonio. While the product wasn't bad by any means, it also wasn't special. Only speculating, but perhaps they have become complacent due to their popularity. (If you want 5-stars then check out Estate Coffee.)
It's cute and priced okay. Coffee is distinctly different but I liked it. It's always busy when I drive by...and speaking of driving by, living right up the street I pass this place a couple times a day, I cannot believe how much the people who park outside here absolutely suck!!!! The business should put signs up telling people to ensure they pull all the way into the parking spots! Traffic in the right lane of Broadway heading into the city is constantly screwed up because some a-hole leaves their bumper hanging out into the road!!
The best people and cappuccinos
Quiet place, cozy atmosphere. Coffee is good but not top notch in my opinion. They can open up an overhead door into bike world next door which is pretty neat.
Good decor/ambience, bad acoustics
This pleases the nut.
Coffee shop only... a few pastries... U go there to drink coffee... and very good coffee. Large cups, very friendly and efficient staff, prompt service of high quality tasting coffee.... (sshhh but even the competition comes here for a delicious cup) coffee is creamy with a light acidic camaralised flavour, add sugar to suit. Lots of parking. Good for date and meetings. Free Wi-Fi just ask.
Hippie bar
Love the cold brew... I did e out of my way to stop for the good atmosphere and great drinks.
What a selection of craft coffee and yummies.
The exterior of Local Coffe belies the cafe's somewhat laid back vibe, airiness & ambience within. Great service; good place to meet for friendship or business. Has covered outside tables as well. Tho' the eats are limited: out-sourced sandwiches, quiches & some assorted pastries, that are all are good. Check it out - regularly.
Excellent Merit Coffee location.
Best coffee I've had so far in San Antonio. You get a proper latte here. If I need a real caffeine pick me up, this coffee does the job. Gets busy, parking and finding a place to sit can be tricky, but worth the effort even if you just take it to go.
The latte was cold and tasted like tomato soup. But the place was packed, so they must be doing something right, I guess.
Nice coffee shop. Pour over was delicious, as was the latte. Friendly baristas. They warmed up my chocolate chip cookie, for a gooey chocolatey delicious experience.
We love Local and will go out of the way on the weekends to get a Capaccino from here.
First of all, the coffee is AMAZING!!!! Last but never least the staff is the best! They are welcoming and very friendly. You can tell everyone there takes pride in providing a daily dose of joy
I really enjoyed my first time being here! It's very cozy and the coffee is delicious! Good study environment!
First time here and I loved it! The chai latte with almond milk is soooooo good!
Awesome place with really good coffee and an atmosphere, service was great too. Do recommend it
Good coffee, good vibes, reasonable prices. Plus, delicious homemade pop tarts! The Batista's are not only polite but super chill. Two thumbs up.
Great spot. My espresso was well pulled in a warm demitasse. The beans were a bit acidic for my taste. Better suited for milky drinks. The crema made up for it though.
Service was great, coffee was good and hot. Can't complain.
Nice coffee house
Espresso coffee. A bit too much of acidity. To be an espresso adoc should be smaller volume also. The espresso I had was more like a "caffè lungo".
Good coffee, great price
Popular place and quite a few little groups meet there. If you are looking for a quiet place this isn't it.
Wonder ful place to sit drink a cup of their coffee and write, read your Bible and such nice atmosphere....people were great!
Great customer service, staff is very helpful and polite. I enjoyed the home made poptart and a really good cup of coffee
Perfect place to study and enjoy some incredible coffee and espresso options!
Queit coffee bar for a conversation or getting some work done. Coffee good and good tea!
Friendly staff and really good iced coffee. Plus they use that small chunk ice. Almost like sonic ice but not quite. I recommend their Iced Matcha Latte with an extra shot sweetened with honey.
Great coffee-friendly staff.
Local Coffee is the bomb diggity. They have a cool environment and are always friendly.
excellent local coffee. yummy scones. perfect spot to hit after a morning bike ride or run. great part of town. easy going and LOCAL
Some of the best coffee in town. They roast in-house too so it's super fresh and local.
Great coffee! Strong yet smooth. You can buy gift cards and great coffee packs as gifts. Great place to sit and just enjoy some coffee
Got a mocha (chocolate latte) was stellar, service quick and nice atmosphere
Good place to get your caffeine fix.
Needs more food selection, kinda like a Starbucks but it's own thing. Cute. Parking is a bit tricky
Really great coffee and service with a wholesome-local feel. Fairly cheap compared to the major chains. Definitely give it a shot.
A must have for Vanilla fans.. try the House made Mexican vanilla!!! More please
The coffee is great. The only bad thing is the sitting. They chairs are uncomfortable. Also the music is too loud (not good for studying). It is good to go there with friends. It was probably designed that way so that people won't sit around too long lol.
Good coffee, good customer service. Very expensive though (in my opinion), almost $3 for a small cup of coffee.
Fun spot. Clean and great service
Better than Starbucks in every way. More friendly staff, better coffee, and a better overall atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Great coffee, friendly service. A bit pricey, but the best place around to get a mellow flavorful coffee, in my opinion.
Very good house roast coffee that left an impression of how I should take my coffee. I'm from out of town so I've only been a couple of times, but the coffee was well made and they had an impressive selection of coffee and gear to get into making your own pour over at home. Although I can't say if they roast their beans, I was very impressed.
Went there on a Saturday. I usually go across the street to Bird Bakery for my latte. The place smelled, it smelled like they allow pets in there. It was really musty. When I walk into a coffee house all I want to smell is coffee. My latte was mediocre. It just had a strange taste. I will have to say I wasn't impressed and won't go back. I enjoy Aspen brew, Bird Bakery and some Starbucks just for reference.
Took a while for the drinks and my iced latte tasted pretty much like sweet milk.
When I tally my annual credit card expenses I often think Local should designate an assigned seat in my name. LOL. Great place. Great young people working there!
I love coffee. I am surrounded by 4 great coffee shops in dallas BUT Local is by far the best coffee and coffee shop in Texas
I actually don't like the way their coffee tastes at all... but they sell it at a good price and they have good teas. It's just a different flavor, some like it it's just not for me. But it's a good place to sit for wifi. They also don't have much food so don't come if you're hungry.
Great coffee, even better place to study or just have a nice conversation
Just simply good.
Very trendy place. The Black Forest Iced Tea is pretty good and the service is great. It can get pretty crowded.
Great coffee and employees are awesome
I loved it
Love the atmosphere of the place. The patio outside is a great place to get work done. And the coffee is seriously good.
This was my go-to when I was at UIW and years later it proves to be equally as conducive for working on the laptop and just taking a nice break with a warm drink. They could use comfier seating and more outlets but I was there at a busy time and had to take what was available. Incredibly superb and friendly staff!!!
I enjoy the coffee and free refills.
Enjoyed the coffee here. Usually no where to sit because people hang out there all day working
Awesome coffee great location. Warm environment
My Americano was very much on point. Close to perfect I might dare say.. they lived up to their shining reputation for me! If you're looking for great coffee, you should go to there.
Delicious coffee, house made sauces. Please understand this is a very high brow, serious coffee and espresso shop. The baristas have a good idea of what they are doing and they know it. All of that being said it is a great cup of coffee or espresso depending on your preference.
One of the best coffee houses in San Antonio!❤️
Great place for a great cup of coffee and a book.
Great coffee, food, and service. Glad they are expanding.
The hot chocolate was delicious, nice whipped cream design. My only suggestion is for chocolate to be served warmer. They sell Bakery Lorraine treats! Love the pop tarts.
A lot of hot chicks frequent this place.
Very comfortable, disarming atmosphere. Clean. Regular coffee was ok, but the cappuccino was very good. I relaxed... What more do you need in a Local Coffee shop?
Great coffee, tough to find seats, great service and atmosphere.
$2.50 for a delicious cup of coffee. The cashier said that refills were free but I didn't take him up on the offer since one cup will give you quite the buzz. Nice quiet place to sit down and relax.
Great drinks. Great place to read and work. Homemade poptarts. Enough said.
Great coffee. Good ambience. Limited seating. Limited menu.
Good coffee. Comfortable
Coffee was very good and flavorful. They have coffee packets for sale as well. Not many snack options.
All locations are excellent ESP Broadway.... one of the employees even helped me with Google Docs today. Love the atmosphere!
Merit roasting company provides the best coffee I have ever tasted. This location is a beautiful corner coffee shop, In Alamo heights area. Try the afogato for a different take on dessert
Great coffee at good prices. This place is a little loud (both inside and outside) but the location is great!
Pretty good place in the heart of Alamo Heights
Good coffee, service is great with a smile
Limited seating but great coffee and ambiance if you have the chance to sit and sip!
Love the atmosphere and service. Did not like the taste of their espresso. It is a very acidic roast.
We come to Local pretty regularly. The coffee is exquisite. It is a open, minimalist coffee shop that is great for sitting for hours doing work. There are plenty of outlets along the walls so you won't have to worry about getting interrupted by a low battery signal. You could easily spend a whole day sipping on coffee and working on your laptop here.
I don't know what the coffee bean is that they use, but the coffee has a strange aftertaste. I won't be back.
Nice and cozy
A nice coffee place in a beautiful locality.love how it's so colourful and lively outside.
I really enjoyed this spot. Thanks for the coffee.
Not a fan of the new coffee from Merit. The coffee beans taste sour to me.
Good coffee and atmosphere
While I'm not a San Antonio resident, one of the things I most look forward to when traveling through the area on business is stopping in at a Local Coffee. The laid back vibe coupled with excellent coffee and a good selection of food/snacks make for the type of coffee house experience most are looking for. And with fast, reliable, and free internet service available, there is simply no reason for patrons to come away from a visit disappointed.
Really good coffee and nice ambiance.
Best coffee shop in quality and taste that we were able to find while living in San Antonio. The baristas were always nice and pleasant as well. It isn't as fast as going to Starbucks, but it is much better.
Busy. Kinda hipstery but the staff are friendly and the coffee is good.
Excellent coffee and a good staff. I like the ambience and the wifi.
Great coffee. Nice place to work out off. Friendly staff!!
This is my local coffee shop, and I visit often. The experience is consistently good. I'd recommend it to anyone. I love strong black coffee, but for me, the coffee here is a little over-extracted. But based on the other reviews here, that must be a matter of taste. Fantastic spot overall!
Wonderful service, great coffee, cute environment, beautiful cashier
Friendly . good coffee.
I love coffee shops that use their own glassware. It's environmentally friendly. And they offer almond and coconut milk.
Great location, great Baristas, great coffee. Good place to meet friends to talk. However, I wish parking or a little easier.
Amazing coffee, very cozy and perfect place to focus and do work
This is a nice place to hang out and study or meet friends although the music is a bit loud sometimes. Good coffee and friendly baristas. Try the affogato!
Just an overall great place in all aspects. Only gave 4 because there wasn't any real food options but it is a coffee shop so it's barely a 4.
Great fresh coffee made however you desire. A bit pricey, but that's where coffee shops are headed now.
Good atmosphere to study and grab a snack. I suggest trying the Cold Brew to get a good caffeine kick.
The BEST place for coffee. Honestly my all time favorite. The ambiance is perfect for studying or just relaxing. The staff is very nice and consistently make great coffee. 10/10
Quiet, modern vibe. Great coffee - attention to detail - locally roasted! Fresh deserts. The peanut butter cookie is amazing.
Great coffee. Lots of ground coffee options.
Good WiFi. Enough tables low and high. Lots of outlets to charge computer. Great cappuccino. The waiter was friendly and people were quiet. It was a perfect spot to do some work. I spilled my own drink but it looked perfect right before.
Best coffee in San Antonio!!! Oat milk yes!!!
Very cute coffee shop. Great gluten free muffin, and very yummy chai. If I lived in San Antonio I'd be here all the time.
Merit Coffee, or Local, is a nice coffee shop in the San Antonio area. The staff was very friendly and the coffee had great flavor. Definitely recommend Merit Coffee (Local).
I did not like the house brew however I was offered an iced coffee after I mentioned my dislike. It was better. Kind staff. We were not a fan of the music either.
Nice, funky atmosphere. Courteous employees. Good beverage & baked goods choices, but be prepared for the prices. I like to support local businesses, but $3.50 for a cup of hot tea?
My goto coffee shop. Besides the high quality coffee and friendly staff, they have the best restroom paper towels in town. I always ride my motorcycle down there. Its just a nice combo, coffee and bike. However, my bike dead by the curb right there. One of the baristas helped me out and jumped my bike.
It's good but need more space
Overly sour espresso. This has occurred at all locations I've been too. The grind needs to be finer. Or the espresso is over-extracted. Cannot drink the espresso by itself here.
Coffee was delicious! So much so that we adjusted our travel plans to make sure we stopped by for a cup on our way home from vacation. This is how coffee should be done, hands down.
Love this coffee house! Service and Coffee are excellent. Industrial but comfortable environment. They’re always playing the Best music too. Love that!
Local Coffee is the essence of how specialty coffee should be. Everything from the look of the coffee house to the presentation of the paraphernalia and the five to seven different coffees and of course the taste is a fantastic experience.
If you are a "coffee snob" and looking for a great place to grab some quality Joe you've found it! Local Coffee has fantastic, quality coffee with baristas who seem to be very well trained in making quality drinks. They also have pastries from Bakery Lorraine, which were very delicious as well! Our only problem was it was pretty crowded on Saturday so we had a hard time finding a place to sit, but that's a great problem to have for them!
Starbucks has a bike rack, Local Coffee does not. The barista at Local helpfully waived a hand in the direction of the front window and said, "there is something out there."
Fabulous late with fast and Friendly service!
One of the best coffee shops in San Antonio. Some of the best espresso in this city
Local is a great coffee shop. Usually busy but worth waiting for a seat if you want some great coffee.
Love the decor, staff is super friendly. I love their black iced tea and chai latte. A little pricey, but still less than Starbucks.
A good place to go in the evening for meetings and hangouts. The coffee is very good, but not as good as a real, local coffee shop.
great environment, great desert and coffee
I met my wife here and local opened the store after hours so I could propose privately with my family hiding in the back. Five stars will never be enough
Absolutely love the coffee and hot chocolate here. The customer service is excellent and the drinks are made efficiently. The environment is great and I highly recommend this place for a good, low priced cup of coffee.
Good coffee and tasty pastries. Lots of tables for working on a laptop. Connected to a bike shop (pretty cool). Fancy feeling part a town. Hip. I'll be back.
One of the highlights of SA. Great vibe. Nicer than the Pearl location as it's less crowded. An iced coffee on a hot day outside on the patio is amazing. If you like this place, check out Rosella as well. Will say that pastries are waay too expensive, $5 for a homemade pop-tart, yikes.
Nice quiet place to read or catch up with friends.
Awesome coffee & friendly staff!
(FYI - I rate on a bell curve...) Boy is this place packed! In my continued efforts to find a study place... This was the weekend's choice. You can tell this place is loved. The coffee is strong... But I like mine sugar plus a dash of coffee... So I had to add simple syrup to my latte... Luckily it was at the self serve bar. Straight forward menu for coffee options. As for studying... WiFi was fast and there's outdoor seating but it was difficult to find a spot so 3 stars in terms of that and the seats made my behind hurt at about 1.5 hours...
I love this place thank you
I drank a cup of cafelatte, and it was fantastic! and just cooked pop tart was awesome too!
The best ambiance I've experienced
Friendly, helpful staff. Great coffee. Reasonable prices.
A must stop location for us during our visits to San Antonio. Popular with the college students an located next to a great bike shop. Great coffee selection and serving staff.
Good coffee and meeting place
Very friendly staff. Very nice atmosphere. I just had an iced coffee. Was good!
Awesome, awesome, awesome, and it keeps getting better local is expanding and soon to be more locations in both Austin and Dallas! Their lattes are so rich and creamy!
I love local coffee. Mostly because of the atmosphere and locations close to me. Their drinks are pretty good and service is usually pretty fast but can get crowded. Other than that great coffee and great place. Always get really friendly service
Great atmosphere! Fantastic and friendly staff! Delicious coffee, lattes, etc. And the best is they're LOCAL! #localsupporter #locallove
Cool place, good coffee, chill vibe. Free WiFi (w/password) and outlets conveniently located throughout.
Didn't know that they gave a little sparkling water with an espresso, best way to cleanse the the pallet.
Good service and awesome staff!
Absolutely the best coffee shop I have ever frequented. I distain Starbucks and always seek quality small coffee shops and Local Coffee is the very best I've ever had!
Nice coffee shop with fun vibe and helpful staff. A little pricey though.
The coffee (espresso and cappuccino) were extremely acidic, even though they looked very promising. The foam and latte art were good too but the choice of beans was strange. If this is a chain, my review specifically concerns the one in Alamo Heights
We liked going to this coffee shop because they are inexpensive, they serve a good hot chocolate and they offer discount for military. We have been there a total of 3 times. This last time, however, was not good at all. They were in a rush to leave so they tell me "Just letting you know that we close in 20 minutes". I was fine with that. We got our hot chocolates...we usually order 2 regular and 2 kids hot chocolates. We sat to drink it with another family that we took here because we had liked it so much before. There kid accidently spilled his hot chocolate and, instead of wasting paper towels, my friend asks for a rag. Usually when this happens at any other establishment, one of the employees will bring a rag and/or a mop to clean it up and will just say something along the lines of "Oh, don't worry sir, I'll clean it up". This person simply handed the rag to my friend and walked back to the kitchen area. Common courtesy, I guess, is not common. The chocolate was bland, watered down and very hot. Usually it is warm and we can drink it right away. About 5 minutes to closing time, the guy starts slamming the bar stools and chairs on the tables around us. It sounded as if he was angry at us for making him have that job. I guess they do this to mop the floor after they close. They put on some obnoxious music and blasted the volume. AND they turned on the a/c to start shooing away the people. I had never been there at closing time, but I certainly did not feel welcome. I am assuming the owner, or manager, has no idea this is happening. If he does know, well...I'm hope he realizes exactly how he was able to screw up a wonderful relationship my family and I had with this place. If these guys don't like working with people, maybe they should get another job. Will not be returning.
Nice atmosphere and all but it would be nice if they also sold some food too. Nothing big it fancy, just something small enough to eat with your drink
