Had the buffet tonight. Thursday night is Mexican and Chicken fried steak. The ice cream and strawberry cake was a real treat. Great service as always. Bring a little extra and buy some of "Dubya's" memorabilia.

We live in Troy TX so a little bit of a drive to McGregor for a meal, but so worth it. Always great service, great food, nice rustic clean place. Reasonable prices. Early Bird special (for seniors) from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Monday-Saturday includes drink and dessert. Recommend Coffee Shop Cafe to everyone.

We were hungry and driving through town when we came upon this place. There were a lot of cars in the parking—usually signaling a good restaurant. We were unfortunately disappointed. We ordered nephew chicken that came with two sides. My daughter wasn’t very hungry, so I ordered a baked potato and mashed potatoes as our sides. We didn’t want the buffet as it appeared to be there for hours. We were served cornbread muffins which would have tasted good had they not been burnt. While we were waiting for our meal, the waitress went to buffet and spooned mashed potatoes into 2 bowls. These were the mashed potatoes we were served. The mashed potatoes were cold and flavorless. I was afraid to eat them and worried about temperatures of the rest of the buffet since they were cold. The chicken was good, but I didn’t have a side to eat it with. I told the waitress about the cold potatoes, and she didn’t say anything. The meal came with dessert cake and ice cream. We waited about 15 minutes after finishing our meal for the waitress to come back, but she was busy filling multiple to-go boxes with buffet food. When she finally came around, we asked for the cake to go since we had a train to catch. She said she would have to charge us for the cake since we were taking it. I then asked to be reimbursed. She said she would ask the manager whom I never saw. We had to leave due catching a train so we just put the amount of meal on the table and left. If you see this place while driving through town just pass it by unless you like cold mushy buffet food.

One of the best breakfast buffets in the area. The thick cut bacon is worth the trip alone and so is their coffee. Take a pie home with you as they're definitely delicious and you won't have room for dessert when eating here

My only experience there, the waitress was getting my corn from the buffet bar, and then digging stuff out of the bowl with her fingers. The manager and another staff member were both serving themselves in the buffet line. Each time they scooped a serving onto their plate, they would lick their fingers and then go onto the next serving spoon. Absolutely disgusting, unprofessional and unsanitary. Our whole table just left. I don’t see how they are so highly popular and on TV, must be the older generation that are just used to it and don’t know any better.

My husband and i went in for the saturday morning breakfast buffet. Absolutely the best breakfast buffet i have ever had the pleasure of eating. My husband loved the chorizo and eggs, i loved the sausage and eggs with bell peppers and onions cooked in them. The biscuits are so fluffy! The pancakes are so good as soon as they replenish them they are almost instantly gone. And the fruit bar is to die for! Relaxed atmosphere, down home cooking, and its all for a great price!

This past weekend we went for their BBQ buffet which has always been good. This last time the chicken was so dry it was hard to cut and way over spiced, to get the meat off the ribs you had to use a knife and saw at it... needless to say tough. I called and complained that I had driven 60 miles and paid $35.00 for mashed potatoes and the manager said “ok I’ll tell them” and hung up. Needless to say I won’t be taking that risk again.

We eat there about once a month. Good food and friendly servers. They get a little busy at times and they don't seem to have enough wait staff to handle the rush so we had to remind our server about things but she was very nice about it and we could see she was a little overwhelmed. Will definitely go there again.

Great local restaurant. You can order individual meals or eat their buffett. Great selection on the buffett to include a salad bar. Service was fast and very friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone! If you are in the mood for chicken fried steak and shrimp be sure to stop in there tonight!

It's a nice old-fashioned country cafe. We had CFS and fried pork chops. If you get the salad, you have to go to the buffet, and that's not necessarily bad. Pork chops were good sized. Prices are good too. Loved the friendly service. They seem to be as well known for their breakfast, so we'll come back on a weekend morning and give it a shot. I have to admit, I've been to the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls and it way outshines this place.

After moving to the southwest Waco area, I was told about this place. The weekend buffet is fabulous; they have the standard salad bar, but with fried catfish and chicken strips, great Tex-Mex, southern style vegetables, and famous desserts. I've never been disappointed, and my family loves it. Feels like home and the service is very attentive for a buffet.

What a gem we found when visiting the Woodway/Hewitt/McGregor area. Don't be discouraged by the outdated decor. It's country, not country chic. The main attraction is the food. EVERYTHING was excellent!! Everything was so reasonably priced that we ate out frequently at this Cafe. The pies are awesome.....highly recommend the coconut meringue!!! Pamela, you rock as a "flight attendant ", and made us feel at home from our first visit to our last. Others were good, but Pamela was GOLD!

I really wanted to like this place BUT....no. I went with my parents because my dad wanted to try the lemon meringue pie. First off, we got sat right next to the busboy station....like literally, it was over my right shoulder. We got there at around 2 pm so it wasn’t during peak times. The hostess could have given us a better seat but whatever. Then we go to the buffet area and there’s really not many choices....ok, we’ll make do. I get my plate and decide to get a salad as well. I put my plate down on the space available at the buffet and while I’m standing there, a waitress comes up and starts wiping down the buffet glass cover....inside and out. Like really?!? You couldn’t wait to do that until AFTER I walked away from the buffet?? You had to do it over my plate that was sitting right there?!? I didn’t say anything but I was not amused. The food was lukewarm at best. There was a vent or something aimed directly at our table so there was no hope of eating a hot meal. I was close to asking to have it microwaved a little bit but again, I didn’t say anything. The saving grace was the cornbread which was good and the funny “State of Mind Histerical Committee” plaque outside. Oh, and that lemon meringue pie.....dad wasn’t all that impressed.

The catfish is utterly delicious, the meatloaf amazing, the chicken fried steak was great. Only negative was we were so happy with every bite, we committed gluttony. Finally started going back after bad food a couple months ago. The board said 7.49 for 1 meat buffet . Cheaper than ordering a grilled fish.( 8.99)So i chose buffet got nothing but 1 fillet of fish and small side of pinto beans. We went to pay they tell us oh price is 10.99. No i ask manager she said sorry i askedthem to tall to Donald they wouldn't. Meanwhile they go erase the 7.49 off board. I found the owner Donald Citrano and explain that was not right his reaponse was literally "well remind me next time because I cant change anything right now" really PATHETIC!

we had the buffet tonight for dinner. The server told us about both the menu and the buffet. Everything on the buffet was very hot and fresh at 6 p.m. There was a good variety of food such as fajitas, chicken fried steak, fried chicken, chicken spaghetti, etc. The food had flavor and was a great value for the price we paid. The waitress did come offer the free dessert choices as well as paid pie options. Overall we had a great time and I would recommend that you eat here by yourself or with your family. All of the customers were none pretentious salt-of-the-earth good people
