Very cool atmosphere, in a very historic building. I give a solid 3 stars...I have no other history other than this one visit with this cafe. The single origin, Ethiopia pour over I ordered is definlately on its way to being very good. Lack of control over the water temp and no use of a scale may keep it from being a great cup of coffee. While traveling West on I-90 this may be the best chance of getting respectable coffee until Treeline coffee in Bozeman mt.

Best American I had in the Black Hills. I went by myself. I spent $4.61 after a $1 tip. The barista was friendly and we chatted about while they made my coffee. The seating and atmosphere is great for getting a little work done on your laptop. If you need a coffee shop in Rapid City, this is the best choice. Would highly recommend.

Cool atmosphere! Espresso wasn't the best. It tastes burnt. I prefer the coffee to be lightly roasted, and it didn't taste like Pure Bean does that. They do have cool drinks and unique lattes, though!

Wow, what a find! People who truly care about the quality of their products. I had both a cafe americano and a pour over, both were excellent. I also sampled the in-house made breakfast sandwiches. Located in a repurposed dairy building the place exudes uniqueness that would rival any big city coffee house. Even with the charm of the location it is clear that the focus is on the coffee. If you are on vacation and looking for a great cup, make sure not to miss this place.

The staff here were super friendly in the way that they seemed to be trying to get to know you well enough to help you… but not be pushy. Perfect! My iced vanilla latte was pretty good… though their espresso was a bit more bitter than I prefer. It was well made though. The quiche was a disappointment though. I ate the veggie quiche… and it seemed to lack any seasoning or flavor. It definitely could have done with some peppers and onions or something.

This is a very authentic coffee house, by far one of the best I've been to (about on par with Stumptown in Portland). One of my favorite drinks is the mocha. And unlike many coffee House's mochas, you can actually taste the espresso! Also, the overall atmosphere is very cozy and it is not noisy like most coffee houses. Overall, a great place to study, hang out, or just enjoy good coffee drinks.

I am from out of town, but always on the lookout for decent coffee. This place does have a siphon brew option, which is an automatic nod towards serious coffee, and they roast in house. My fresh roasted Peruvian pour over was not outstanding, but very good.

The historic creamery building in which the establishment is situated only adds to the enjoyment. They make great coffees that are carefully prepared and presented. Highly recommended.

My wife and I love to check out local coffee places and get a local feel. We found Pure Bean Coffeehouse since it was close to the hotel that we were staying at. The coffee here is fantastic and they have a wide range of options and types of coffee as well. The Hepburn was absolutely delicious!

This is a wonderfully local, cozy, friendly space. PB makes its own syrups, and their concoctions are creative and pretty decent. I drank a honey lavender latte, and while I wish it was a bit more flavorful, it was still quite good. They also have free WiFi, a very friendly staff, and a self-consciously hipster vibe. One thing I don't like at all is the required several steps (8 or so) just to enter the coffee shop. I understand it's downtown and in an old building, but it means this place is off limits for people with specific physical disabilities. Otherwise, it's quite a cool, hip place for the up and coming student or young executive.

The place caters to the local engineering and science school (SDSM&T) so expect to hear students study groups ranging from thermodynamics, calculus, statics, and senior design lingo in the background.

Strong coffee game for sure. Good single origin drip coffee and an excellent cortado (8 oz) pulled from a Mod Bar (I think?) My only (very minor) complaint is the bags of coffee have no indication of their roast date, so it’s hard to commit to buying a bag of beans, but overall I would definitely come back for coffee and a cookie.

Watching the preparation, it is clear why they do such a great job. With care they made each of our drinks. In house drinks are served in ceramic and glass. The expresso was served with a side of sparkling water! We greatly enjoyed our visit.

The people are friendly, & the food and coffee are good. It's usually a good, but loud, atmosphere. This is the one business in the building that is somewhat wheelchair accessable. There's a table when you come in that could probably fit two wheelchairs comfortably (but near a walkway), but you'd have to call up to the staff just up the stairs. The restroom looks like it's completely inaccessible. It's an older building, the kind visit likely have to beg the city to do construction on.

This place is so neat! Their handcrafted drinks have unexpected twists, but they're so delicious! Even their pastries are different (try the lavender scones). Great place to visit with friends or study for school. It's a few blocks from downtown, which makes parking that much easier. If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend it!

This is my favorite coffee house in Rapid City. Their coffee is the best! Usually I do not order lattes because they are too sugary but I have take the plunge here. Their unusual latte flavors like rosemary honey are not too sweet. Coffee forward as they say. The food selections have increased and are very delicious. No mass production here. All fresh baked. This is my go to place after Sunday morning yoga. Not too crowded on Sunday morning. I love it.

Great coffee, but when it comes to Pure Bean being prepared, they're not. 75% of the time I go in to get a cup of coffee, the bean I choose has maybe a half cup left and I have the option of getting a cup of something I wasn't interested in, ordering a $6 latte, or waiting God knows how long to receive a cup of coffee so hot that I would end up waiting even longer to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee. Sucks, because I really like their coffee, but I'm not sure how often I'll be going back.

Coffee isn't bad. Service is slow, and many of the baristas are impolite. They often try to skimp out on basic services. They put away creamers far before closing, and act like they're doing you a favor by getting them back out. I would go to Essence of Coffee on West Main st.

It's incredibly welcoming from the second you walk in. The ambience of the shop is one of a kind. Everything ties in together extremely well.
