This Coffee Shop is classified in the category of Coffee shop.
Not a coffee drinker, but had the absolute best hot chocolate I have ever had! Sat in the quaint courtyard sipping it and enjoying the evening. Lots of folks around doing the same! Great place and a must visit!
This place is great. Friendly service, HUGE outdoor patio that always has seating, and the pastries are great. BUT watch out for the birds (no joke). They are super aggressive if you try to eat outside!
Awesome patio and good coffee! No WiFi though which is a bummer :/
2nd time visiting Charleston and 2nd time here. Good coffee, great atmosphere.
The staff was awesome! They had my drink ready before I got done paying, and they are really dog friendly. They brought water out for Stella to drink too! Definitely will return!!!
Steps off and a world away from the main King Street drag. Best, full-bodied Cortado and a quiet, welcoming courtyard.
Great adulting ambiance. Good tea and coffee.
I loved the almond milk latte. Cute place too
Very cool atmosphere, good coffee and a decent local beer selection
Great little coffee shop! My fav is the dirty chai.
Cool venue. way too expensive. Their $5 cup of coffee is over roasted and bitter. You're basically paying to sit outside on a nice day. Just here for another visit on a nice day.. coffee sucks to the point that I should return it for a refund.
Food was good and the coffee and tea we're both great. Service was pleasant! Go here when in town if you're looking for some down time.
Best coffee and croissants in Charleston.
The ultimate crowd pleaser. My husband and I were in town for my birthday and stumbled upon this oasis. I love coffee and he loves beer. We both loved it!
Great local place to start the day. Friendly staff and great coffee. You’ll see locals stopping in for coffee on the way to work as well as us tourists. All feel welcome. In not so hot months, the patio would be a relaxing place to sit and enjoy your coffee and croissant.
Locally owned in the heart of downtown Charleston - I really like the vibe here. Great space to get some work done on my laptop! Can't beat it that they have coffee and booze. Good place to socialize as well, and try the yummy sandwiches.
Great coffee - simply put. Nice outdoor space for a slow and relaxing start to the day.
Coffee was incredible! Super friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere :)
This was a cool, hip place with an extensive beer menu and a great selection of sandwiches and muffins. The coffee and tea were excellent also. They also played great music too! We are visiting from Maryland and would highly recommended this place.
Love the downtown location with room to sit and talk or casually meet with clients (as I do). Love the quality coffee brewed. I am willing to treat myself here every so often. I even forego mediocre coffee at home or friends' houses, and plan meetings for this location so I can really enjoy Kudu as the delectible drink spot that it is!
Loved the college small town feel
I love this place, very comfortable! The Craft beer is okay, but I love the coffee so much! Very fresh!
Came in to escape the heat and cool down with a cold brew. I was able to do both here! Coffee was great! Also grabbed a dirty chai and was equally impressed.
Quiche was excellent, very creamy, as was the coffee. Ambiance was pleasant. Outside seating for a Sunday morning is a nice option.
No wifi keeps the hipsters out.
Coffee & beer, my two favorite drinks in one place! Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy delicious local brews of both varieties. Didn’t eat but the food menu looked good!
Good place for coffee and food on the go
Delicious coffee and ham and cheese croissants in a courtyard setting. Servers were polite and food was served quickly. Just off King Street. A must try.
Cute place. Coffee machine was down but overall nice atmosphere
Dog friendly and great for a coffee or brew
Had a great croissant and cold brew, nice atmosphere. Mimosas all day for $4!
Good bar and great ambiance.
Chill local spot for coffee and beer. They have 20 beers on tap and food to snack on.
Awesome nitro brew coffee
I've enjoyed this coffee and beer bar over the years. Wish they had WiFi and outlets though.
Great coffee but no wifi? They do allow dogs. There's also a nice outdoor patio area.
Great place to have a morning coffee. Lovely little outdoor seating area. Coffee is good. They also offer mimosas and danishes. Quiet place to wake up and relax. Just off the beaten path of King Street so not a bad little walk. Staff are very friendly as well. Great atmosphere.
Friendly place with good local beer (and coffee).
Good coffee. Nitro cold brew+ ham and cheese croissant = nice lunch date.
Very good coffee. Insane pricing for food.
Wonderful beer selection and amazing coffee. Half a block of king St, easily excessable for travelers and locals. Great atmosphere with HUGE patio. The owners are super friendly and embrace everyone as family. A must stop for anyone, can not wait to go again!
Had a Hazelnut soy latte, it wasn't the smoothest I've had. Was disappointed they didn't have wifi. Courtyard was large with pretty string lights. Our 2 dogs enjoyed their nap by our table. Metered street parking out front. #dogfriendly
Great place to grab a cup and chill on the secluded from traffic patio. Good service.
Good place to hang out...
Coffee is subar. Beer is decent.
Support Local Coffee Cafes! Kudu has always been one of my fav spots in downtown for coffee next to Second State.
This spot is amazing, especially if you're looking looking for a place to relax and unwind while you're walking around downtown. The courtyard is quaint and comfy, the beers are delicious and the food and coffee are out of this world. The manager, Josh, is very gracious and hospitable. He generously helped out with Nurses Week at Trident Medical Center. I can't say enough great things about this place!
Love this place. I stop in every time I'm downtown.
No wifi. Good ambience. Useful knowledgeable staff.
Nice place , good music and atmosphere
Such a chill and eclectic space! Good quality chai as well and yummy baked goods! Be prepared..there's no public Wi-Fi nearby so that's the only reason they're missing a star. The staff is patient and adept. Overall great experience!
Amazing coffee and a great courtyard to sit outside and enjoy your java
Quality coffee and tasty pastries. Sandwiches and quiches served for hungry folks. Outdoor seating is a great place to catch up with friends or meet casually. Baristas are educated and friendly.
We were all very impressed with our delicious pasta.
Coffee fresh and tasty, not overpowering. Server very friendly.
No WiFi! Warning for people looking for a local coffee shop to work. Ordered a cappuccino which was beautiful presented and delish! Enjoyed the San Benedetto sparkling water too, great hang out despite the lack of WiFi
Cool place to hang out in between your Charleston adventures!
What a cool vibe this place has. Awesome staff, great craft beer selection
Good coffee, friendly staff, a bit pricey but nothing ridiculous.
Great coffee from people who know what they’re doing.
Great local hangout. Impressive local beer selection. And you can't beat $2 day old pastries; just as good as new born pastries.
Five stars for the beer/coffee combo. The beer list is terrific. Definitely a specialty drink place (lattes, iced drinks). Their drip coffee is average, but the lattes and such is where they shine. Well priced and also have a selection of pastries. I will def come back!
Best help coffee and craft beer selection lovely courtyard outside and quaint bar and tables inside
Perfect spot for coffee in the morning and a pint at happy hour.
It's a great experience every time!
Grear atmosphere, both indoor and outdoor seating, friendly and quick staff.
Great atmosphere outside on the patio. No WiFi
Great place to grab a coffee or beer. Don’t miss out on the hot chocolate either. Kudu has great spots to hang out inside or outside. It is in such a great spot, it is near other restaurants and shopping options.
Some of the best coffee in Charleston. Great setting with indoor and outdoor seating. A good selection of baked goods, too.
Absolutely loved this coffee shop! It was my first time visiting Charleston and Kudu happened to be a four-minute walk from my Airbnb. Not only did I get amazing coffee and divine banana-walnut bread, but amazing Charleston reccomendations as well. Caroline, (the Kudu barista), wrote out a list of restaurants, bars, etc to go to while I was there. I let her know that I work for a coffee company myself and loved the coffee culture at Kudu. If I'm ever back in Charleston, Kudu will definitely be my first stop! :)
It's such a pleasant local spot, with great quality coffee. The atmosphere is nice, and they have a nice patio area, which in Charleston you can enjoy in all seasons. Service is excellent.
Kudu is near and dear to my heart. I have frequented it since I moved to Charleston in 2011. I met my partner there in 2016, and my sister had her wedding in the courtyard of Kudu. There is so much good Charleston history in this place. It is THE perfect spot to chat with someone you care about, or just to get to know someone. I truly hope this place sticks around forever, so that we can come back to visit and reminisce after we eventually are pushed out of being able to live in Charleston. Kudu is a Charleston staple, and though I don't love some of the changes that have been made (no more wifi or outlets, no longer carrying counter culture coffee) - I do understand that due to their location, some of the changes are pretty reasonable since they want many people to be able to enjoy the cafe instead of just the same ten people all day. Instead of this being the coffee shop that you go to in order to do computer work, this is where you go to enjoy the simpler things like good conversation or a good book. Unless you want to kill your data plan - then go for it. You have to go to Kudu and get a yummy drink and enjoy the courtyard at least once.
Best coffee in town. Location location location
Great coffee and surprisingly good bagel also.we got to sit outside on their patio with our great Dane dog and enjoy beautiful downtown Charleston
Low key with indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect place for some alone time or getting together with friends.
Staff is extremly nice and helpful, we liked that you can sit there with your dog. The coffe is quite good, but the food is something that they need to work on. Been there two times: one time ordered the almond croissant which was dry and too sweet, the second time I orderd the ham and swiss quiche which was more like savory custard and didn't taste very good.
Very nice coffee and beer bar. They have lots of tables inside and a beautiful courtyard to sit outside. I had iced latte and I really enjoyed it. My husband liked his beer. Kudu has nice and relaxing atmosphere. They also sell pastries.
The cafe is beautiful, and the coffee is great.
Great location and comfortable areas inside and out.
Great coffee stop for breakfast. Amazing cappuccino art and delicious crossaints. Dog friendly courtyard and wonderful morning vibes!
Atmosphere is nice, but service could be better and more attentive.
Kudu is a fantastic Cafe. High quality coffee, tea, and alcohol selections. Extremely friendly staff, even if they can be a bit busy. There is a beautiful courtyard with pleasant lighting and great views. It's usually quiet, but sometimes it can get a bit bustling. There is no wifi and no wall sockets to plug your devices into, so come fully charged or with an external supply if you're planning to hang out here like you do at Starbucks. If you get a chance, try the ham and cheese croissant... Especially in the morning, they're amazing.
Very cool place. Great coffees and local SC beers!
Nice hipster coffee shop with gentle bartenders and reasonable price. I recommend this place.
This is my go-to coffee brew house when I'm in Charleston. Never disappoints. I hear the ham croissant is to die for. The have some real brews too, but I stick to the coffee and chai lattes.
A great place to unwind with a cup of coffee or pint of beer. Great location, so we usually stop by anytime we are downtown for a while. I highly recommend stopping by.
I was in town for the weekend and in need for a pick-me-up and came across Kudu on Yelp. This cafe has pretty much everything you'd need if you're interested in a quick bite and great coffee, in addition, I also noticed it was dog friendly and had a lovely outdoor patio!
This review is solely based on the coffee, not the beer. Good coffee, good food, nothing exotic. We got there around 745am and there were a couple of people in front of us. We got to order fairly quickly and the cashier advised me that they do traditional macchiatos. That was nice so that I didn't have to find out after I got my drink. Around 8am a flood of people started to come in and the line reached the door. They were able to handle it and we're turning people over at the cash register and pumping drinks out. All-in-all worth checking out for a morning coffee. Even if the line looks long is are you won't be stuck there for hours waiting on your order.
Kinda small inside but outside is really nice if the weather is. Their coffee menu is pretty good. I don't really drink coffee but the people I know love this place. I personally love the food. I get 2 ham and cheese croissants heated. So friggin good.
Fantastic coffee shop! Had a great cortado and also tried the iced americano and iced latte which were delicious. Cute interior and patio!
Great beer selection.
Great ambiance!
The coffee is always great and the staff is the best!!
This is a busy coffee shop. Didn't try the craft brews but if they are like their coffee then they are good. The outdoor seating is nice. Indoor seating is a little limited. The line queues out the door which is a little inconvenient but the coffee is worth the wait. Not sure if they have WiFi available since it was not readily noticeable.
Cute little place to get a beer or a coffee. Close to Marion Square.
Always love grabbing coffee and chilling outside at kudu.
Love Kudu. We go every morning when we visit Charleston.
Great local coffee shop. The outside seating is adorable and shaded. They make an excellent Cappuccino and they have good baked goods.
Cozy and comfortable with a outdoor patio that allows cigarette smoking on the patio. Wide selection of craft beer and coffee and wine with small but tasty food selection. Reasonable prices. Casual dress. Very popular with the college crowd because campus is nearby.
My go to coffee shop in Charleston. Great cold brew and wonderful espresso drinks. The staff are always super friendly. Also, they serve beer!
Great coffee, beer, pastries, cookies & courtyard!
I had an excellent mocha iced coffee and there is a beautiful courtyard to sit outside.
coffee is great and they serve beer! cool antler things too
Hip space. Cappuccino was pretty good - although if this is small their big is huge. Soy cappuccino was overheated and a bit curdled. Jackson Pollock design on it was pretty cool though. No WiFi so now row of students with Macs.
Love this place but NEEDS WIFI!! Not sure if it was just the day we were there but they said they didn't offer it.
Great coffee and beer offerings.
Iced Vanilla Chai Tea Latte is the bomb here
Great drinks, amazing staff, welcoming atmosphere. Be sure to ask Amani for drink recommendations, he is the best
Spot for the locals. Cute and cozy. No WiFi and the table was a little dirty.
Kudu is the closest thing to a real, urban coffee shop that Charleston has to offer. And their beer business seems to be growing too.
The drinks were great, food quality and nice ambiance.
Great beer selection. Didn't have coffee, so I can't say how that was but what I saw looked good. I'll definitely be back. The patio area alone is worth the visit. Also, $4 mimosas all day is a huge plus. I'll definitely be back.
Great coffee house. Ideal to have business meetings and a little nibble. The attention is stellar
We had a good experience at Kudu. The cold brew is tasty, the banana bread is perfect, their croissants all look great. The staff was friendly and let our dog cool off inside while we ordered. They were also thoughtful enough to bring water out to the patio for her.
Good coffee, cool local beer selection, usually friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. They do not provide wifi which is a negative for someone who works from home but needs to get out of the house sometimes. Otherwise nice shop.
These guys really know about coffee. So far the best in Charleston. Clean, friendly and fast service, nice patio and more important a really good coffee. Highly recommend.
What a great laid back environment for some eats and coffee. I went there to get some design work done and found that they don't offer WiFi, it was quite refreshing to just sit there and enjoy the ambiance without distraction. The coffee was great and I'll have to take a visit up the road to Springbok Roasters.
Great coffee and atmosphere! The outdoor seating area is a great place to bring your dog and drink some delicious coffee or beer.
Had the nitro coffee and was hoping for more carbonation. Cool vibe, nice music, lovely garden area and great wine and beer selection.
My go-to coffee shop downtown. Good coffee and beer selection. Patio is awesome.
Great place. Prices are almost too low.
Surprisingly well staffed (there were 4-5 people working when we visited) and with great coffee and beer options. It's casual but welcoming with indoor and outdoor seating available. Food options are limited to snacks, but the croissant we had was delicious. Worth seating down if you can find space.
Good coffee, chai and beer selection
Excellent coffee and craft beer!
Beautiful space inside and outside! They have a good sized patio off to the side of the building with lights, a brick wall and gate, and a fountain. Their staff are phenomenal and so is the coffee. My cortado was perfect. Seems like a great community place. It was good enough for me to go back the next day.
We stopped in early to grab an iced coffee. Wished we had more time to sit in their charming little courtyard. Great coffee, will be back!
Best place to drink beer and coffee! I would recommend
Always a favorite stop downtown.
Nice little hipster joint to grab a beer or cup of coffee. Bar tenders we're nice. A friend got a white chocolate mocha but said she didn't really enjoy it. But beer is beer and I enjoyed mine. Outdoor patio was quiet.
Very helpful staff, could have more beers to select from. Clean and quiet. Good place for conversation.
When looking for that perfect place for coffee and secretly the ham&cheese croissant! Don't forget the beer selection for the afternoon study sessions haha, appreciate yall carrying local brews.
Good coffee and beer choices. However, we were there at noon, and already they did not have any food left, just a couple of turnovers and a few cookies... Otherwise, we liked outdoor seating
#kuducoffeeandcraftbeer has the best coffee I have ever tasted. Robust and yet very smooth taste. Ambiance is friendly and relaxing.
Overall very nice. Little outside courtyard was added touch. Entrance doors could use a good clean or wipe down.
Good place. very good coffee.
Friendly & knowledgable staff. Great beers!
Fabulous service, fabulous latte’s. Outdoor seating is perfect for a cold specialty brew & shaded area. Chilled indoor area for those heated Charleston days. Love this place!!!
Excellent cafe mocha. Food is very good. Excellent service. Place frequented by locals. Large outdoor dining area. Would choose Kudu over Starbucks anytime.
A very popular cafe serving the best coffee and a great food (light) selection. The Cafe is very subtle and you could easily walk by if you weren’t looking for it, just one small sign hanging above the doorway. Lots of indoor seating as well as a large shady outdoor courtyard on the side. They offer a large food selection ideal for a light breakfast, brunch or lunch. My cinnamon bagel with cream cheese was delicious! The coffee is excellent, one of the best I’ve had in Charleston during my week visiting (on par with Second State Coffee).
Cozy little coffee and craft beer shop with a spacious outdoor seating area too. Coffee, iced coffee, and iced chai were all delicious. Music is nice. Staff was very friendly. This goes on the list to revisit next time we're in town.
I had a latte and it was very good and huge!
Love the hazelnut iced coffee here. They have large indoor seating area as well as a super quaint courtyard area for that true Charleston feel.
Iced cold brew was great and my wife enjoyed her berry cider as well. We had a scone that was also tasty. Employees were friendly and we really liked the decor and courtyard.
So many options and very well made coffee.
One of the best places for coffee in the downtown area. Just skip Starbucks go local!
Left my MIMOSA at VIRGINIA’S to help a disabled senior citizen get in gate , seat him and order food for him. YOUR STAFF... I LOVE
This coffee shop would be a great coffee shop on it's own, but it's also a great craft beer bar. The outside patio is incredible with a bunch of seats and feels like a nice secluded area off the main street. The beer selection is great with a ton of local craft brews. The baked goods and pastries are also quite good, especially the almond croissants which are worth a visit alone. For a nice relaxing spot to take a break in the city, there isn't much better.
One of my favorite spots in charleston, has friendly personable staff. Has a relaxing outdoor seating area thats smoking friendly. Their coffee is consistently good every time ive gone over the past 5 years. Can get a bit packed with college students between 2 and 4 o'clock but its still an awesome place.
